Brain tumour has recurred :(

Just need a place to vent really. For background, in 2017 I had a grand mal epileptic fit, got rushed into hospital and found out I had a fist sized primary brain tumour. I had to have surgery while awake, followed by 6 weeks of radiotherapy and almost a year of chemo. I miraculously got pregnant ten months into what was meant to be a year of chemo, but obviously not intentionally. However the pregnancy went perfectly, the tumour has been unseen since and I have a wonderful baby girl.

I think now it's started to come back I'm a lot more scared. Partly because I know what's coming and more so because I don't want to die and leave my LO. My husband is really good and supportive and I'm lucky to have him through this but the odds aren't great for a second tumour. It was a grade 3 before, they usually grow back worse. I've managed once but I can't leave. As ridiculous as it sounds, I'm not ready. Within the last few years we've got married, had a kid, we literally just had a mortgage approved and are getting keys on Monday, I'm studying part time to get a better job and we were going to try for another baby. I'm just so gutted that this has fucked it up. I was happy :(

I am so sorry to read your latest update. Lost my gorgeous little sister to brain tumours three years ago. Fucking cruel disease and research is so underfunded as the prognoses are often poor. (And yes, totally get the desire to punch people's lights out who would tell us not to worry/where there's life/they knew someone who recovered)

Be selfish, be angry, live as well as you can. You're in my prayers.

Sending love to you, OP, brain tumours are beyond evil and I’m so sorry you’re going through this crap 😢
Have you heard of the charity Brain Tumour Support? They do what their name suggests and support patients and their loved ones through brain tumours.

Super late update, I had too stay awake because it had grown a lot. Have had a lot of difficulty speaking and my left hand has been numb and hard to type, write eat etc. Was in hospital for just over 2 weeks. Going to have a month of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, then a month break, then another year of chemo. But I did have a lovely Christmas. One of the few who enjoyed the isolation 😂

Hello, just wanted to see how you are doing, been thinking about you 💐

cfulton89 · 18/01/2021 20:29

Ah it's all a bit of a rush. Got the call today about the start of chemo/radiotherapy which is Wednesday so I have to go for bloods and COVID test tomorrow. But I'm glad it's just getting done. The radiotherapy is the only bit I hated because you have to go every day.
