stupid comments on sex of children...

we have 5 children (aged from 15 - 2) and we are constantly fending off stupid questions relating to the fact that they are all boys.

awwww were you trying for a girl?

ohhh you will be trying for a girl then.

OOh 5 boys, dont you want a girl?

wow 5 boys! didnt you do well?

You must be proud to have 5 boys!!!

I dont know if anybody else is clever enough to physically choose the sex of the child before its conceived!?! I know i dont have the ability to. I dont really care to either. Whatever comes along is fine. We both wanted another child to add to our family, to watch them grow, to love, and be amazed at! Each and every one of them is as different as can be, why would it make any difference if any one of them was a girl? I get very annoyed at such comments. My usual reply is "ive only got one setting".

Do any of you have a similar problem?

I've got four girls and am currently 14 weeks pregnant with dc no5. I'm preparing myself for the comments once my bump becomes obvious. I'm going to tell people that if this one's a girl I shall ditch my husband because it's obviously his fault .

i have 3 girls.

am pregnant with dc#4.

am finding out the sex as i know i will get asked.

have already been asked too many times to count 'one last try for boy?' 'are you hoping for a boy?'

i reply we are hoping for it to be a baby, rather than a monkey/puppy/elephant/whatever other other species springs to mind at that time, depending on how annoyed i am...

We have 2 ds and when we had dd people were constantly saying "I bet you're so relieved/happy it's a this time" in front of ds's.

amateurmum · 21/06/2008 17:18

sorry should of course be "it's a "

i always hate this,i have 3 ds and people sy wouldnt u have liked girl?

bjesus its not a huge choice is it boy or girl and you get what your given if youre having a baby intending it to be a boy or a girl then to my mind thats the wrong reason to have baby.

BOYS ARE FAB

Congratulations

I got fairly fed up of the comments when pg with #4 (first three are all girls). We couldn't tell what it was from the scan, although dd2 thought it looked like a hedgehog didn't fancy delivering one of those (although I've been reliably informed the spines are soft for the first week after birth, otherwise Mummy hedgehogs would have issues!).

Anyway #4 turned out to be a boy no one was more surprised than me!

I'm now getting evry fed up of people telling me now I've had a boy I can stop and hang up my maternity knickers I doubt we'll have any more, but not becuase we've had a boy, but because DH says enough is enough

People could never work out why I wanted so many kids, now that I have 3 of each they assume i will stop. I probably will but it has nothing to do with the sex of the kids.

It always really annoys me when people say (I hear this frequently..)

'don't think I/they will have anymore children as we've/they've got one of each!'

As if their sole aim in having children was to get a boy and a girl

After I had dd2, someone actually said,'nevermind'.

NEVERMIND!!! I was livid, still am, 5years on.

You know what's even worse?

Strangers asking if you're Catholic. That's so rude

Im 22 weeks pregnant with dd4, we found out the sex on monday and loads of people were really negative!
TBH as long as she is healthy i couldn't care less if i had a boy or a girl!
Lots of people have said oh you have to stop now as its unlikely you will get a boy but im not having babies each time in the hope of getting a boy, i just wanted a large family!
Last time when we told the inlaws that it was dd3, they actually said oh well better luck next time!

sweetkitty · 21/06/2008 22:38

oh don't start me on this, am 37 weeks with DD3 this week someone said to me "you'll be praying for a boy then?" when I said oh no we know it's a girl she looked at me as if I had just told her the baby would be born without a head.

Have had loads of comments about "trying for a boy"

4andnotout, i am actually hoping dc#4 is a girl, so i wont get 'oh so you finally got your boy' comments then.

there is no way i am having another baby after this one, as am finding this pregnancy very hard going, so really dont want negative comments.

Misdee, its so annoying isn't it! Im haivng a really easy pregnancy this time, dd3 was 9 months old yesterday so i dont think i get a lot of time to think about it really! Im not even in maternity clothes yet and have no bump what so ever, if i couldn't feel her kicking me all day i wouldn't guess i was pregnant!

These sort of comments made me fume soooo much that I refused to discuss anything about my pregnancy/other children with anyone other than my closest friends

JoanCrawford - I've had 'nevermind' too when I was expecting DD4
I wanted to tell the interfering moose that ever since I was a little girl I wanted to have 4 girls and felt truly blessed but I was too angry to speak

The other one I get is 'I bet your DH is made up now he's got a boy' they don't even know my DH!!!

My Mum has been telling everyone I'm not bothered about the sex as I had a "wee loss" last year (mc)

She also gloats "only X (my cousin) and me have hit the jackpot in the family i.e. had one of each to which I replied isn't my DAD clever (they are divorced she hates him).

No I don't care about the sex as I see each child as an individual and don't care what they have or don't have between their legs.

after i had dd2(which meant i had 2 boys and 2 girls)i got lots of 'oh,you wont be wanting any more then' type comments.

now, since having dd3,i get 'oh,you'll have to have another boy' type stupid comments

my reply depends on what time of the month it is,ranging from 'te hehe ha( and smiling sweetly whilst seething)' to 'go f**k yourself'.

misscutandstick-I have 5 boys too !

The comments got me down so much when I was pregnant with DS5 that when he arrived I actually dreaded telling people as I knew what their reaction would be.

After having two prem births with DS3 and DS4, we were just happy he was on time and healthy.

'bet your house is torture'

errrrr no its very peaceful actually

the actual grimaces when you produce a beautiful boy!
