stupid comments on sex of children...

we have 5 children (aged from 15 - 2) and we are constantly fending off stupid questions relating to the fact that they are all boys.

awwww were you trying for a girl?

ohhh you will be trying for a girl then.

OOh 5 boys, dont you want a girl?

wow 5 boys! didnt you do well?

You must be proud to have 5 boys!!!

I dont know if anybody else is clever enough to physically choose the sex of the child before its conceived!?! I know i dont have the ability to. I dont really care to either. Whatever comes along is fine. We both wanted another child to add to our family, to watch them grow, to love, and be amazed at! Each and every one of them is as different as can be, why would it make any difference if any one of them was a girl? I get very annoyed at such comments. My usual reply is "ive only got one setting".

Do any of you have a similar problem?

I'm up late and had to comment on this as when pregnant with DS2 last year it drove me mad!

I already have 'the set' DD age 7 and DS age 5 so with that and a shock, horror 4 year age gap number 3 must have been an accident?! I mean how rude I but I was asked this question all the time

The best was yet to come though when we found out our baby had down's syndrome (prenataly so had time to get out head round it) We were compleatly open about it and after the shock it didn't see it as such a big deal but people said and did some really odd things the best one was a sympathy card when he was born

Conversely - it's just as annoying the other way. I've got a boy and a girl - now preg with twins - also a boy and a girl.

People seem disapproving that we're having more because we've got 'one of each'.

Happymango - we get this too. We had DD, then DS, and people said "Oooh, well done! One of each! You can stop now then, can't you?"

And yes, there is subtle disapproval from The inlaws and general public that I am now pregnant with DC 3.

When pg with ds2, DH and I were convinced he was a girl(and had used up our only boy's name previously, that sort of thing!) and so were slightly shell shocked to discover at 20wk scan he was a HE.
One of our closest friends said on hearing the predicted gender "Oh well, you'll have to have another one to get a girl.HeHe!" I was incensed. I have always wanted three children.(Friend in question was not aware of such info at time,as everyone presumes you'll have two kids, regardless of whether you want one or seven once you start to "produce") So if I do have three it will be not to get a girl.

The other comment that annoys me is when people presume that boys are smelly, destructive creatures. My kids are very well mannered(but still very "normal" little children)I was walking through my local town a few months back with my 5.5yr old and 2 year old. They were holding hands and giggling to one another and being quite adorable if I do say so myself and a couple commented "Oh, she's got her hands full with two boys". HEY? If it was too girls holding hands and skipping would I be blessed with demons?!!!!

Boys can be nice, thoughtful, pleasant creatures.
We're having children, PUBLIC, not stereotypes!!!!

Phew. Rant over!

We had 3 girls and then a boy - when he came along, SO many people said "Now you can STOP at last!" Absolutely unbelieveable

We now have 3 of each
