Hope everyone's doing OK. It's been so shocking watching these violent racist riots over the weekend and the precarious and scary situation they've left English Muslims in especially, but also other minorities. And really frightening to see swastikas and Nazi salutes on proud display, not just on the far right thugs who pretend to care about Jews but don't, but also at the pro-Palestine march on Saturday.

I've got so much I want to say about the response on MN to the riots, but aware this isn't the safe space it's supposed to be, so won't.

Very, very glad to currently be out of the country for the summer! And I'm also very glad the right-wing extremist mask has slipped so people can stop pretending they're friends of Jews. They're very much not, we were just being used for their racist purposes.

I was hoping to get through it all by avoiding controversial topics by just watching the Olympics all week, but that's turned out to be the most controversial topic yet 😂 But it's nice not to be responsible for cooking and cleaning for a bit!

I've taken a wee break from the Haniyeh assassination thread (will go back at some point), but I've also got my hands on a document detailing military planning process & tactics employed. So, I'll be reading that and adding to my growing knowledge of warfare in the Middle East. Aside from that, I've loads of military documents to read through.

Posting on here doesn't help and I also have some Hebrew to learn, so I'll have to prioritise things which will likely mean less active on MN for a while.

Towards the end of the year, I hope to have written something relevant to the current war that may be of interest to some of you here. We'll see how things go!

Hi all, possibly outing but whatever. I've just been on a visit to Girona in Spain. Of course there was Free Palestine type graffiti everywhere but I was really moved in the old part of the town that was the Jewish quarter. There is actually a Jewish museum although we didn't go in (because our car park ticket was about to run out!)
