Fingers crossed for you Ella that your flight goes ahead tonight, and you can get home to your kids soon.

They have a hostage chair here

The security around the Chabad house here is intense, plus there’s visible police protection and roadblocks. I’d say it’s crazy but I remember the horrific Mumbai attack on Nariman House😟 very welcoming when you get in though!

gingergran · 24/09/2024 18:17

Hope you get back home soon Ella

BooBooButts · 25/09/2024 18:17

@EllaDisenchanted did you make it home?

EllaDisenchanted · 25/09/2024 18:44

I did boo-boo, thanks. A very packed flight, there have been so many cancellations, people are scrambling to get home.all in I was travelling about 36 hours , because the only flights I found had a near 24 hour layover.

I’m very happy to be home, even though it’s unsettled here. Lots of jets, and my Savta and other relatives were woken in Netanya this morning at 630 by a siren. Think it’s the first Netanya have had in the war.

gingergran · 26/09/2024 13:31

@EllaDisenchanted i was woken up by the same siren! This morning however i was woken at 5.30am by a continuous stream of cement mixers concreting the foundation to a nearby building. Think on balance that is preferable to the first one

oh dear! I spoke to my Savta, and she was fine thank Gd, her neighbour climbed down into her shelter (they are stacked with ladders in between), so she had company.

... do you also get the bin men at random hours of the day/night?! 😅

gingergran · 26/09/2024 15:05

@EllaDisenchanted we’re lucky that our mamad is in our apartment so we didn’t have far to go when the siren sounded. Don’t know about the bin men - I usually sleep through most things but why these drivers felt the need to use their hooters loudly and reversing sounds so early in the morning is beyond me. There have been at least 100 of them throughout the course of the day

Ours too, thank Gd.

Isn't leaning on the horn part of passing your driving test??😜

I'm thinking maybe we need to write a CITME dictionary. People seem to really struggle with definitions of certain words.

79Helene · 28/09/2024 15:15

Are you targeting any words in particular to start with or do you need some time to deliberate over that?

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Perfect response, as always!

BooBooButts · 28/09/2024 17:10

AHH, I've reached the sarcastic response stage now so should probably leave that thread alone.

It's like talking to my children - I'm telling them all about our weekend plans but they keep interrupting to tell me all about how so-and-so at school farted during assembly. Two different conversations in parallel at the same time.

BooBooButts · 01/10/2024 17:57

Sending all my love to all of you in Israel now. It'll be a long night 😔

Comedycook · 01/10/2024 17:59

I have been watching the news all afternoon and also send my love and thoughts to those of you in Israel right now.

Comedycook · 01/10/2024 18:38

And of course those of you with friends and family there x

stonecutter · 01/10/2024 18:50

Thinking of everyone and hoping for safety for you and your families.

gingergran · 01/10/2024 19:27

It’s been a fun evening!! Thankfully rockets have stopped for the time being.

In the meantime there was a terrorist attack at a light railway station in Jaffa, near Tel Aviv, and six people have been killed and others injured. I don’t suppose that will make the news in the UK

@gingergran I saw something about herzliya as well? Have you seen anything? Horrific. They had to stop the medical treatment when the barrage started 😳

we’re ok too, although the kids don’t want to come out the safe room . Can’t say I blame them 🤦‍♀️ DH was out doing yom tov shopping with one of the kids. The shop is basically a giant shelter thank Gd.

SpuytenDuyvil · 01/10/2024 19:36

Sending you all love from the US.

gingergran · 01/10/2024 19:38

@EllaDisenchanted the one in Herzeliya was a false alarm. I just take the opportunity to go to the loo in between sirens just in case!

Wishing everybody a healthy happy peaceful and safe new year and praying for the safe return of our hostages

BooBooButts · 01/10/2024 19:46

I'm glad you're both ok. But really, there was no need for you to worry because according to CITME, Israel's enemies only ever target the military so you'd have been fine. Unless there's something you want to tell us...
