I missed everything over Shabbat! What happened?!

also sleeping in the floor - what?! That’s a new one on me… have I been jewishing wrong all these years?!😑

On a thread about how awful Islamophobia is, a poster started on quite the epic anti-Semitic tirade. She managed to mention Judaism allowing rape, support for Hamas on October 7th, Jews controlling everything and us always making everything about us. It was really quite impressive how much anti-Semitism she could fit in in a relatively short period of time! I kept thinking it couldn't get worse and then it did 😅

Sounds … impressive!

Found it and I’ve had a very quick skim through now- what a Swiss cheese of a thread.

were shechita and bris mila mentioned in the deleted comments? If not, she’s missed a few, although looks like the Talmud was misquoted as usual. As a Jew… I do think it’s important to hit all the tropes if one can….

That’s so cute! 🥰 (your two year old’s sumo thing, not the antisemitism 😅)

No they weren't mentioned, but I guess they wouldn't be as she mentioned being married to a Muslim and they obviously have similar traditions. She hit a lot of other tropes though, she did very well!

You know comments are bad when MN delete them without any fuss 😂

Hope you had a nice, peaceful Shabbat!

It was lovely thank you :) 2 new nieces born in last few weeks bH, so I walked to visit them and got lots of newborn cuddles 🥰

Oh wow mazal tov!! I hope your nieces and their parents are all doing well. I miss newborn cuddles so much - my youngest just started school this week and it seems to be really messing with my hormones 😭😭😭

Mazel tov! Newborn cuddles are definitely a much better way to spend your time than being subjected to a bizarre antisemitic tirade on Mumsnet.

It's the absolute hypocrisy & two-faced ness that bothers me about the comments on the site thread.

Especially given the deleted comments on this thread about how to escalate hate speech to the correct authorities & how the efforts to ban that poster were coordinated by the lurkers.

Yes, the hypocrisy is absolutely jaw dropping.

@EllaDisenchanted Congratulations on the new arrivals! 🍾

thank you everyone :) @BooBooButts hormones are dangerous things 😅It sounds like we have a kid the same age - my 'baby' is 5, she is in Gan Chova this year, but would have also gone into reception if we had still been in the UK. She came home the first week having proudly written her name (in Ivrit) and I had to laugh because she wrote it backwards, like all kids do, but the right way for English (she can write part of her name in English, the right way!)

I'm actually coming to the UK please G-d very soon, without DH, or the kids. Not looking forward to the weather 😆I'll need to get my coat out of storage!

Absolutely this. The glaring double standards are practically blinding.

Naaaah, no need for a coat! It's been sunny today, and a full 12C! So you'll be fiiiiiine.

My brother visited our home country this summer with his family from Israel this summer and I was there too with my kids. In all the photos, his kids are all in like hoodies and trousers and my kids are in shorts and t-shirts 😂 Even at the beach, they were there all covered up and in their hoodies and my kids were splashing about like maniacs. It was very funny. So yes, now that you're Israeli you might need a coat :) I hope your trip goes well!

12c???!!!!!! I am packing my winter gear, never mind my coat 😱

EdithStourton · 14/09/2024 22:22

Look at it this way, our thermostat is turned down low - we do not run a warm house in winter.
And yesterday morning the heating came on...

@EllaDisenchanted @BooBooButts You are making me laugh. In 2012 we flew from Tel Aviv to Luton. Where we live in CA can be very warm--this summer it was over 45 several times and we found Israel equally warm, even 46 on a few days. We have a photo of DS at the Harry Potter Studio in Levensden in a brand new long sleeved t-shirt and a zipped up sweatshirt and a hat.

Sounds about right 😂 You can always tell a tourist from a local during summer here based on who is wearing the bare minimum and who is dressed for winter. 45C though... That's crazy! We had a couple of days of 40C last year and everyone absolutely lost their minds. Schools closed as they often don't have AC.

I’m not so convinced I’m gonna be able to fly 👀 Will have to see what Hezbollah do to retaliate…

🥴 I'm sorry, it must be so stressful. I can't imagine living like this for almost a year already, just waiting for the next attack.

BooBooButts · 17/09/2024 19:24

Do we think anyone on the CITME board are going to bother reading about how Hezbollah have been trying to bomb Israelis in Israel remotely since before October 7th? Or do we think they're just going to stick to the whole narrative that this was a completely unwarranted attack?

Sharing the article here in the hopes the lurkers can be bothered to read it.

Although having said that, my heart goes out to the civilians who have been killed, injured or otherwise affected by this. It's just a never-ending cycle of violence

EllaDisenchanted · 17/09/2024 19:32

Yep flight cancelled. Offered a different route and rebooked but I ain’t hopeful I’ll make it to the UK. To be honest part of me want to be here with my family of things escalate. Don’t want to be away from my kids

I'm sorry, I know it must be frustrating. Are Elal still flying? That was the only way to get my family out this summer - their flights were cancelled following the whole Haniyeh thing and they ended up eventually getting a last minute flight with Elal to Cyprus, and then travelled a further 24 hours to meet up with the rest of us.
