@Limesodaagain

Just seen the thread you've been active on today over on The Board That Must Not Be Named. I hope you're ok - people on that board really enjoy ganging up on anyone who doesn't agree 100% with everything they're saying. I'm sorry I'm not getting involved - I really can't be bothered with the posters over there. I just wanted you to know that your posts are appreciated and I agree with what you're saying. You're not saying anything wrong or outrageous, they're just choosing to twist and manipulate your words to suit their one-sided narrative of choice. There is no point in discussing the ongoing war with people who don't want Israel to exist.

Anyway, just wanted to check that you're ok - I know just how stressful it can be trying to have a reasoned discussion with people over there.

Take care of yourself!

quantumbutterfly · 19/08/2024 21:29

Sigh! Fwr is being dragged into the melee.

One board is not enough!

25milesfromhome · 19/08/2024 22:22

@Limesodaagain I agree with everything @BooBooButts said. I admire your ongoing attempts to have a balanced discussion in an arena where balance is sorely lacking.

Limesodaagain · 19/08/2024 23:07

Thank you! I do appreciate it. I was trying to present an alternative view but no one wanted an alternative view. I should stay off that board … I don’t think I’m helping .

I think you are wise to use this space for more life affirming conversation …
I hope you and your families are all ok.

israeli shot and seriously wounded last week, was shot by an 18 year old terrorist who was released as part of the hostage deal in November
https://m.jpost.com/breaking-news/article-814445
the casualty was in Area A, where Israelis are not allowed to go. I think from other news sites he went in to a garage there because his car broke down.

Attempted suicide bombing in Tel Aviv the other day, thank Gd the terrorist detonated too early and only killed himself and wounded someone. Would have been a mass casualty event had he not. Hamas and PIJ took responsibility https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/hamas-claims-attempted-suicide-bombing-in-tel-aviv-vows-to-carry-out-more/

lots of rockets every day, including some still from Gaza. One Hezbollah barrage of 55 rockets a few days ago up north targeted the kibbutz ayelet hashachar, (not an evacuated community) triggering fires in the area.

Hamas claims responsibility for shooting terror attack in Kalkilya, one Israeli wounded

The terrorist responsible for the attack was released in the hostage, prisoner exchange deal in November.

Another terrorist attack two days ago, where a security guard (Gideon Peri, 38) was attacked with a hammer and his gun snatched. He has since passed away.

Tel Aviv is on high alert. We’ve had siren tests in our city today.

DownNative · 20/08/2024 10:19

I hear Richard Medhurst has been arrested under the Terrorism Act 2006 this morning. 👍

About time!

Kudos!

The behaviour you're getting (haven't read it myself!) is a very good indicator of the fact this is a disinformation war with antisemitism at its core. Not merely camouflaged criticism of Israel.

Taking a break for a while myself & plan to get various complex issues of the war down on paper. The myth about the 2017 "charter" revision is one - it's not a charter at all, for example.

But don't forget to look after yourself in this. As I advised others here months ago, it's a marathon and not a sprint. Still important to live your life in the meantime. Not so easy for members who live in Israel, sadly.

Keep your head up regardless!

So platforming support for proscribed terrorist organisations and antisemitic hate speech to your large audience does come with consequences after all, who knew?

Indeed.

At the same time, it's also selective, e.g., the "Up The Ra!" crap at Electric Picnic in Belfast, Northern Ireland the other day. See also Dublin Airport as well as the pro-Hamas/Hezbollah vigil in Dublin after Haniyeh & Shukur were taken out.

I mentioned the propaganda of the peace process a few times. Well, that's one manifestation of it where Governments are quite happy to turn a blind eye to that in order to hold up the slowly eroding facade of peace.

A problem Israel & her people will come to grapple with in time, especially if they go for the constructive ambiguity crap in their peace process. A bad idea, imo.

About time Medhurst had his collar felt. Hope David Miller's next.

Honestly people, get a life and stop lurking and reporting on this board. It's genuinely pathetic. Just give it a rest.

25milesfromhome · 21/08/2024 23:39

I'd be really interested to know what hit a nerve.

Why are Mumsnet policing us on our own board?

79Helene · 22/08/2024 09:02

I don't think they are - a lurker from 'over there' would have reported it.

Why are they allowing that though? I'd love to know exactly what talk guideline was broken by DownNative.

It's so, so pathetic. Unless whoever is regularly lurking and reporting on this board does the same thing on all the other minority boards, chances are they're displaying anti-semitic behaviour. Maybe MN should spend their time looking into those reporting instead of just deleting comments without justification.

Couldn't agree more. MN should be questioning the motives of posters who report on this board.

Maybe @DownNative could ask HQ why her posts were deleted.

It's an odd thing when a platform doesn't allow you to call out racism, but it's actually permissible to be racist. And they tell you to challenge it, so you do, but then actually you're not allowed to do that after all.

Not sure what's going on as I've not been on much as I've been arranging a funeral, but I've been muttering this under my breath loads. Applies to many situations
