December 2025 FET

Is anyone going to have a FET in December?

I was expecting to have one in January but when I went to the clinic yesterday they are going to try and squeeze a natural FET cycle in before the Christmas break!

I am 36, had my first egg collection last month but wasn't suitable for a fresh transfer. If my cycle plays ball my transfer will be 15th-17th December.

Hopeful for a lovely Christmas present but also being realistic given age and first transfer etc.

@zirafica i totally agree with days 4-7 being the worse for the same reasons!

By day 7 i was also deep into analyisng tests! Which seemed to reassure me and also make me anxious all at the same time!!

official test date for me tomorrow, I’m at the clinic first thing in the morning for bloods, but I think it’s the next day I get them back! Going to be a long wait! 😬

AnonTTC · 09/12/2025 17:06

Good luck tomorrow morning @Peonies94 !

My transfer is actually tomorrow ladies but thank you for all the well wishes, I’ll take them with me tomorrow! 😂 I don’t get given a time until they call me in the morning so hoping it won’t be too late/I'm waiting around.

Not sure if I’m making excuses here but did anybody else see a huge appetite increase around this time? Feel like I’ve eaten SO much today and I know I should go to the gym this evening but really cba 😂 I’ve been getting my daily steps in but mustering up the energy to go to the gym has been non existent the past few days (also coupled with the over thinking of which activities I can even partake in)!!

zirafica · 09/12/2025 17:29

congrats on reaching your OTD @Peonies94, i'm sure everything is going to be fine! my clinic doesn't offer blood work as i'm with the nhs, but said they can do it for a charge - do you think i should go for it? what's the benefit? having something to compare to in case the potential pregnancy doesn't go as planned?
@AnonTTC TOTALLY. i stopped doing everything like 3 days before, just couldn't be bothered with any of it. my appetite didn't increase but it usually does after ovulation so that might be it!

Peonies94 · 09/12/2025 18:40

@zirafica mines an additional cost of £150 but are basically told to have it, and potentially two lots!

so I think it helps identify any possible chemicals or identify if a pregnancy isn’t going to progress if levels are low! I think lots of private clinics don’t really push for it, but it seems mine really do! I think it’s entirely up to you, but I think it’ll hopefully offer me reassurance if I have a nice high number or may identify any possible issues! Totally personal choice though!

did you say you were going to be testing Thursday? If so only 2 days? How are you feeling about it? I have everything crossed for you 🤞🤞

zirafica · 09/12/2025 21:02

Thanks @Peonies94 I suppose it makes sense argh! Might give my clinic a ring to check how much it costs with them tomorrow, thank you! Correct, the plan is Thursday morning but now I’m sitting here thinking that’s so close and I’m not ready and maybe we should wait till Saturday? 😂😂 I’m deranged 😂😂

CoolSummer89 · 09/12/2025 21:05

Just done an evening LH test and looks like it’s getting darker. So if tomorrow is a positive, we can book in a transfer for Tuesday.

I am finding it quite hard to find advice for how to behave after transfer. I have recently moved to a new team within my department and it’s their Christmas dinner on Tuesday. And I’m wondering whether it would be completely crazy to go to the dinner if I had my transfer on that day. I think it will be quite boozy but I wouldn’t drink obviously.

what advice have others had for their transfer?

OP posts:
zirafica · 09/12/2025 21:48

@CoolSummer89 general advice is just act normal but don’t do strenuous exercise or anything massively physically demanding that’s out of the ordinary. Good luck!

Blueskycat · 09/12/2025 22:33

@CoolSummer89 my clinic said similar, don’t do anything too strenuous but normal daily activities are fine. The nurse also advised to avoid anything that might cause infection for a couple of days like swimming in a public pool, but that part wasn’t on the official info sheet.

Peonies94 · 10/12/2025 06:04

@zirafica i think that feeling of not being ready hits whenever you test! It’s the nerves taking over!

@CoolSummer89 yeah my advice was take it easy but can do normal day to day activity, no lifting heavy things etc but otherwise okay!

zirafica · 10/12/2025 06:14

@Peonies94 good luck on your blood test! I’ve checked and my clinic does an hcg test for £38 but I feel like your £150 one might be more comprehensive. Can I be a pain and ask, if you remember and no biggie if not at all, if you can check with your clinic what they cover in their blood test? My clinic seems to charge for everything separately so just wondering what I should ask them to include if I have a blood test! Thanks you!

Peonies94 · 10/12/2025 06:52

@zirafica mine literally includes the blood result and is the only thing included!

AnonTTC · 10/12/2025 06:58

Not sure if this helps at all but from what I understand about the bloods it’s literally shows you a number (hcg levels) which they then repeat a couple of days later and what they’re looking for is that number to at least double to show the pregnancy is progressing as it should. As everybody’s base level of hcg is different I think they do need the two to compared but also I’d imagine they’d be able to give a bit of an indication as to whether the first number is at a certain level by your cycle day. Hope this helps? :)

if it would offer you reassurance then go for it @zirafica but I feel like if you don’t want to spend extra money then seeing pregnancy test progression + a viability scan at 6/7 weeks would do the trick!

On the testing, I’m with you @zirafica and always want to put it off as long as possible in case my bubble is burst so totally understand. I think Peonies has a good point though that even if you wait until Saturday you’ll feel the same.. but do whatever feels right for you ❤️

Good luck with your tests this morning @Peonies94 .. hope they help to put your mind at ease a little ❤️

Hope you get your surge today @CoolSummer89 !! 🤞🏼

Re what to do after transfer. My clinic gave very similar advice that you should just go about life as normal with no strenuous exercise or heavy lifting. I think I will stick to brisk walks & some yoga maybe? I do love Pilates but the class I go to focuses a lot on ab work and I know it would make me feel anxious if I did that.

Sending positive vibes to everyone today!! ✨💖

zirafica · 10/12/2025 07:53

Thanks @Peonies94 and @AnonTTC! You’re right about the hcg, that’s exactly how it works. I’ve had an ectopic previously so unfortunately went through the whole repeated blood testing, I think that’s why I’m leaning towards checking this time as well as apparently if you’ve previously had an ectopic it’s more likely you’ll have one again… I wasn’t sure if there was anything else useful that they might get from bloods but if it’s just hcg I’m ok with that, £38x2 is a small price to pay to eliminate that worry!
I don’t think we’ll wait for Saturday as my fiancé just came in and said he’s getting really restless about the results now so I’m ok doing it tomorrow. Might do it and then just walk away and let him check it 😂
I’m a massive Pilates girlie too, and they said absolutely don’t do it after transfer, they don’t want you putting a lot of strain on your core/lower abdomen. But they did say walking and yoga is safe! Clinic said stay away from pilates until pregnancy confirmed. Probably relevant just during the implantation period but I can’t wait to get back to it! I also bought a walking pad cause nothing I’d like to do less than be outside in miserable weather!
good luck to everyone today ♥️

Peonies94 · 10/12/2025 08:07

@zirafica yes that makes sense! I’m just here waiting for my bloods, but think I’ll gef the results tomorrow, I’m not sure!
ahh it is so hard knowing the day is approaching!
that makes total sense! Every time I take a test I feel sick the few minutes wait waiting for the result’ and waiting for the test to dry out! Those couple of minutes feel like a lifetime!
yes yoga and walking sounds perfect @AnonTTC wishing you the best of luck! Hope today goes well for you!
thsts exactly what it is with the bloods, though my clinic said I may just have the one bloods, but I might request a second! They’ve said it’ll depend what the figure is if they think a second is needed! I feel like I’d just need the reassurance though!

zirafica · 10/12/2025 08:20

@Peonies94 completely understand, there's not much that can put our minds at rest in this whole process so super happy to grab anything i can, especially if it's as factual as a blood test!

AnonTTC · 10/12/2025 09:48

Aw I’m so sorry to hear about your ectopic, and totally understand why you’d want extra reassurance. Like you say, 2 x £38 isn’t much in the grand scheme of things if it offers you some peace so I’d say go for it in that case!
Funny because everytime I imagine doing our test I think I might have to just close my eyes and wait to hear my husbands reaction 🤣 not sure I’ll be able to bring myself to look. There’s nothing like your how your heart is beating waiting for that result is there!!?
Thanks for the extra advice on Pilates.. that has confirmed my suspicions then and I’ll definitely be avoiding for the time being. Like you say, I had assumed it might not be ideal with all the abdominal work so I’ll stick to less intense stuff for now.

We’ve had the call from the hospital to say they were thawing our embryo and once they can see it’s re-expanded we’ll get another call to confirm our transfer. Feel SICK waiting.. if it doesn’t thaw properly our cycle will be cancelled so it’s an awful wait. Hoping we hear soon so we can relax (a little) 🤞🏼

CoolSummer89 · 10/12/2025 09:52

Oh I am so sorry for the anxious wait @AnonTTC . Don't you have quite a few embryos? Why wouldn't they just thaw another one I wonder?

And also sorry for mixing up your FET day, for some reason I thought it was the 10th yesterday! Best of luck for when it comes.

I got my positive OPK today, so transfer is definitely on the 16th.

AnonTTC · 10/12/2025 10:00

Hey @CoolSummer89 - you’re right, they usually would just thaw another but it’s a bit of an unusual situation where we are having our transfer at a different hospital to where our embryos are stored. So, if this one didn’t survive they wouldn’t have time to get another one sent across etc from what I understand. Just in case this process wasn’t nerve racking enough!! 🤣

Great news you got your surge.. at least you have some clarity of when it will be now and can get prepared!

& don’t worry at all about the mixup, there’s so much going on!!

CollsR · 10/12/2025 10:31

Hello Ladies. Can I please join the group. Wishing you all well for your FET.

I'm having a FET on 15th December. Private clinic in the UK. It will be our final FET ever and a chance at a second child.

I had eggs frozen years ago & am now infertile. My partner and I made 3 embryos, first FET was a very early miscarriage. Then did tests (ERA, ALICE, EMMA). Adjusted for the results and 2nd transfer in Aug 2023 lead to my son (now nearly 2 years old). Final FET is calmer now it's worked once but still emotional at this is final for us. Plus the medication and life and work has been overwhelming. Doing my best to stay calm. Sending love and baby dust to everyone.

CollsR · 10/12/2025 10:44

Just to vent: I'm not sleeping well from meds. Toddler is also disrupting my sleep. Working & taking meds is stressing me out. I started my progesterone 1 hour early yesterday. I was in the office & it was set to be a manic day at work. I was stressing about missing the time and got confused and went early. IVF clinic said it's okay as timings are +/- 3hrs (thank goodness I nearly cried).

Our toddler has been sick & my partner messaged me at work yesterday morning. I expected an update or a good luck message. Instead he wanted to me to book flights for his friend for Christmas URGENTLY as they don't know how to do this (they both have English as a second language and struggle to read it). My partner also (apparently) has no emotions about this FET. He's being a massive donut!!! (Note: I was annoyed by his message but replied that their lack of planning is not my emergency & no I won't book at work but can look later.)

zirafica · 10/12/2025 11:43

@AnonTTC oh my gosh well what an anxiety amplifier! i'm sorry! i hope you get both calls with the go ahead, how are you supposed to go in all chilled an ok when this is happening! fingers crossed for you!
@CoolSummer89 great news on your surge, one of the many countdowns begins!
@CollsR welcome to the thread and congrats on already having one successful FET! hopefully this one goes well too!

Hi @CollsR welcome - I am glad to have a mid-December transfer buddy.

Sorry about how hectic life is too. We could talk about the 'mental load' in relationships but we'd probably be here all year.
