July IVF/ICSI/FET

I didn’t see a thread for July IVF yet. I am due to start stims around 18Jul with estrogen priming starting the week before that. Collection will be the end of July all going well.
This will be my second IVF and I will be using ICSI. I will be 40 during treatment and 41 come collection. I have a child from my first IVF 3 years ago. Since then I had a chemical pregnancy Dec 2024 with my only other embryo from my 2022 cycle and a failed IUI in Feb this year.
I found the discussion board really helpful and supportive in my first IVF round as we all understand the crazy ups and downs of this rollercoaster. Wondering if there are any others with similar timing?

Got my transfer tomorrow morning 😳💕🙏 the clinic called to confirm how many embryos we wanted to thaw (just one) and whether i was healthy and to not wear perfume tomorrow.

@ALittleExpressive good luck for yours tomorrow too!!!!!

@SummerSolstice25 so sorry to hear about your cancelled cycle:( allow yourself some time to process and be sad if you need too 💕

@PlanBFertility sending well wishes your 5 eggs that survived isci! Let us know tomorrows update

@FancyGoose not long now then :D good lining!

Welcome to all the newcomers :)

magpie234 · 02/07/2025 21:41

@Timetotryagain Good luck for your transfer tomorrow! I find the hardest part trying to get my bladder to the right level of full… my clinic asks for partially full as if it’s easy to control! Last time (for my failed fresh) I think I underdid it as they had to press quite hard to see clearly. So next time I’ll be aiming for sliiiiightly fuller. But by all accounts too full is very much not the way to go either!

@PlanBFertility Such an anxious time. Hope you have been managing to distract yourself this evening. Keeping everything crossed for all 5!

@SummerSolstice25 Gosh so sorry to hear that. So frustrating. My FET was cancelled so I am also waiting for my period now. Fingers crossed for us both next time.

@Bejewelled19 I know the feeling, my cycle has been regular as clockwork for the last 2 years of TTC, but the last 3 months (since starting this process) it has been different every month! Has been a right pain with trying to plan the right time to fly out to Madrid! It's definitely strange to be wishing for your period, hopefully it comes soon for you, when is it due?

@Miraclemuma03 Thankyou very much. And a big Happy 40th to you too for this month. What number cycle will this be for you and how are you finding it so far?

Thankyou for the birthday wishes! My scan went well this morning AFC 12 and everything looking good so stims start today ☺️

we had a fet in November 2024 which ended in a chemical. We did another full stim cycle in april which ended in full failed fertilisation using icsi, our may cycle got cancelled and then didnt get a period in june so here's to hoping for July. I started the pill and I have 4 days left on that.

Miraclemuma03 · 03/07/2025 06:08

Sorry to those with cancelled cycles. It must be so hard to go through all the meds and scans and not make it too ec.

Good luck to everyone heading into their ec and others who are having their transfers.

I feel like this process is so long. I still have 4 days on the pill which is causing so many issues, I cant wait to finally stop them. I then have to wait for another bleed which im assuming would be a breakthrough bleed as iv just finished my period but still spotting which is annoying. Anywho, then can finally start ivf treatment.

PlanBFertility · 03/07/2025 07:30

@Miraclemuma03 tff is the worse 😭

ALittleExpressive · 03/07/2025 07:51

@magpie234 thanks so much! Oh gawd, I hear you re: getting the bladder fullness right. It's an art and I am not an artist! 😹

@Timetotryagain best of luck with your transfer today too! Excited for both of us!

@Miraclemuma03 sounds like you've had a really hard run of it. I'm so sorry to hear and hope July is your month.

Will let you all know how our FET goes today ☺️

FancyGoose · 03/07/2025 08:50

@SummerSolstice25 so sorry to hear that, it must be really upsetting. Hopefully they've learnt enough about your body/response to adjust for better results next time.

@PlanBFertility oh the wait for that call must be horrendous for you. I had TFF last round and it was absolutely devastating so my heart really goes out to you.

@Timetotryagain @ALittleExpressive good luck for transfers today and keeping my fingers crossed you get a stick one. Have either of you PGTA tested? Are you planning to hold out for official test day or test early?

ALittleExpressive · 03/07/2025 12:44

Hey there @FancyGoose !

Thanks so much. Transfer was quick as this morning and went smoothly.

Unfortunately the embryo we chose to transfer (Day 3 grade 2, culturing to Day 5) was not viable this morn, so they defrosted our backup (Day 6, 4BB) on the fly and shot it on up there like a dart ☺️. I had a strangely good feeling about little 4BB anyway.

We're waiting for official test day (14 JUL).

We didn't undertake PGTA as our clinic seemed to only recommend this for over 40 y/o or multiple implantation failures I think, so we just went with their guidance.

Very sorry to hear about your TFF last round. That's a big blow midway into the cycle. I really hope July is your month.

magpie234 · 03/07/2025 12:57

@ALittleExpressive Well done on the transfer! Sorry about losing the plan A embryo - classic ivf curveball - but I also have a good feeling about the other one for you! We have 3 frosties and the third one only just made it - frozen on day 6 - but I have a good feeling about our ‘runt’ too. Obviously hope 1 or 2 work first but really I’d love it if that one did!

PlanBFertility · 03/07/2025 13:00

Out of the 5, 4 have fertilised. First time I’ve ever had fertilisation!!

ALittleExpressive · 03/07/2025 13:01

Timetotryagain · 01/07/2025 06:53

Morning everybody! Starting the progesterone today ahead of the transfer on Thursday :)

@ALittleExpressive sounds like we are on the same timeline then! Yes definitely will be doing the fries on the way home haha! Anything else i should do?? Warm feet i have heard is good

I have had a mock transfer too last month so it also helps me going into it as i know what to expect :)

Yay for Maccas fries!

I skipped the fries cause I run a little dehydrated normally, hence thought I better avoid the salt? Pedantic I know!

I had some pineapple with a bit of core on it, some ginger juice and some pieces of watermelon today... and my warm socks are on too ☺️

Thinking of you today!

Timetotryagain · 03/07/2025 14:50

Hi everyone,

My little grade A embryo is on board!

@ALittleExpressive @magpie234 Omg i did NOT get the full bladder right hahha. She scanned me and the whole scan was black and she was like uhh thats your bladder, go and do a 10 second wee because it was too full haha.

I saw the little flash as it got transfered and they gave us a little picture. I got the fries and ended up having about 10 as i didnt want to overdo the salt too haha!

My test day is 16th but i am deffo gonna test before that i think!

@FancyGoose mine if pgt tested because we have a history of genetically abnormal pregnancies (i was in my 20s at the time!) So just one of those things. Yours are tested arent they?

@PlanBFertility yayyyy soo happy for you!!!

@PlanBFertility This is such amazing news! Keeping everything crossed for your next embryology updates.

@Timetotryagain Yay! Hope they are settling in nicely. So funny about the bladder… honestly though how are we supposed to get it just right?! Did they press down quite hard? They did for me last time so I’m scared of needing the loo any more… imagine how mortifying it would be to just pee in their face?! It also hurts!

@Splishsplashsplosh93 Hello! Totally get the anxious feeling. I was really anxious before my ec but it was so much better than expecting and actually just quite a nice nap! Horrible about the noro… hope you feel better soon. Very unfair on top! I mainly just try and eat well, drink lots of water, move a bit but most importantly relax when I can and not push myself. My first fresh failed but I don’t think there was anything else I could have done tbh. Best of luck!

DenimJoker · 03/07/2025 17:09

Hi everyone! Great to join the July group :) I started my stims yesterday, it's our first cycle so I have no idea what to expect at all. I've been reading about acupuncture but our clinic doesn't offer it onsite. Do you think it's still worth doing it? Good luck everyone!

ALittleExpressive · 03/07/2025 18:36

Three frosties is wonderful @magpie234 ! Dawww glad to hear we both have little runts. Our final frosty is definitely on the crispier side and we may not ever meet the little champ if everything goes to plan. Oh the classic IVF curveballs- they love to come at you thick and fast, dont they just!

Congrats @Timetotryagain! Great outcome today! Hope you had a restful rest of your day off work.

@DenimJoker hey there! Yeah first round for us too. Best of luck with yours! Re: acupuncture- it definitely appeals to me, but I didn't go ahead with it in the end. I've read a good study on particular points having a statistical impact.

Cool cool cool! What a milestone for you! Bask in that glory!

Ohhh dear of you. Norovirus would be hellish over and above stims.

In terms of wellness/success, I'd recommend taking a day off to relax when you need it mentally (not just physically). Not an option for all, but stepping away temporarily from my desk job at the most stressful parts really helped.

@Splishsplashsplosh93 Sure everyone has the same concerns so you’re definitely not alone! It’s just such an overwhelming time isn’t it? I cried at my first follicle scan as she could only see 5 on there. They ended up getting 7 and all were mature and fertilised and I ended up with 4 blasts. So it’s not always about quantity. Not tested them though and the first fresh transfer failed so who really knows 🤷‍♀️. Sending all the good luck for good results and minimal side effects for you!

DeeKel · 03/07/2025 21:50

@SummerSolstice25 I’m sorry to hear your cycle was cancelled, I know that must be so disappointing. Hopefully they will get the right cocktail of drugs for you on the next cycle. I hope you are ok.
@Splishsplashsplosh93 welcome and best of luck with your cycle. I can’t even imagine how you are coping with the Norovirus and stims. Fair play to you!
@ALittleExpressive and @Timetotryagain wishing those very sticky embabies settle in over the next few days. Be kind to yourself and plenty of rest. My little 3bb is fast asleep in bed now- grading can only tell you so much
@PlanBFertility delighted to see such good fertilisation numbers. You must have been able to take a much needed breath only to have to hold it again for the next wait. Hoping those little embryos keep on growing for you.
@Miraclemuma03 the waiting game is so hard when you are eager to get started and doesn’t get any easier then when we do finally start!
@DenimJoker welcome to the group, everyone on the board are so supportive. Ask away with any crazy questions you have as you got through your first round as we’ve all either been there already or are in process of figuring it out too. In fairness I think we are all still trying to figure out the rollercoaster of fertility treatments but all I’ll say is expect the unexpected while always hoping for the best and staying positive

Good evening ladies, I has a scan today in preparation for my frozen transfer (I’m day 9 of cycle). They expect transfer day to be 14th July so I’m going to try and chill out until then.

Good luck to everyone going through stims, so many injections but hopefully all worth it in the end.

@Splishsplashsplosh93 ahh great! How are you feeling about it all? This is my first attempt as I did a freeze all after stims. Finges crossed for us both!
