July IVF/ICSI/FET

I didn’t see a thread for July IVF yet. I am due to start stims around 18Jul with estrogen priming starting the week before that. Collection will be the end of July all going well.
This will be my second IVF and I will be using ICSI. I will be 40 during treatment and 41 come collection. I have a child from my first IVF 3 years ago. Since then I had a chemical pregnancy Dec 2024 with my only other embryo from my 2022 cycle and a failed IUI in Feb this year.
I found the discussion board really helpful and supportive in my first IVF round as we all understand the crazy ups and downs of this rollercoaster. Wondering if there are any others with similar timing?

sorry to hear that @StorkVisit keeping my fingers crossed for you, when is your test day? xxx

DeeKel · 09/08/2025 12:52

Can I ask did anyone get sore boobs? I’m 3dp5dt today and my boobs are definitely more sensitive. I don’t recall that on my last FET or IUI.

@Bloop123 my test date is Tuesday. I was so down and upset thinking it hadn’t worked. I just want to know now so I can plan for next steps.
@DeeKel i had sore boobs. Started before transfer and they got bigger and more sore. Now they’re bigger but not sore.

DeeKel · 09/08/2025 14:21

@StorkVisit I was googling there and it said it’s likely due to the progesterone we are taking. Thanks though. How is the spotting now? Hope you are doing ok.

@Bloop123 @Miraclemuma03 so sorry that this time didn’t work for you. It’s a horrible outcome after everything you went through.

@DeeKel It could be the progesterone, it is a possible pregnancy symptom but it might be too early for implantation to have happened? Still it’s nice to have some hope!

Miraclemuma03 · 10/08/2025 06:29

How is everyone else going? We are talking about possibly transferring our last embryo next month but im not 100% sure. The more ivf we do the harder its getting and we have so much that goes wrong all the time I dont feel we will have another child and will all be for nothing.

@Splishsplashsplosh93, to be honest I now think my period is on its way. Had slight brown spotting on Friday night. Didn’t last long.more spotting last night- again not a lot and spotting this morning (now pink).
I did a test on Tuesday which was day 6. It was really early but negative. I was so upset but still hopeful and committed to not testing until OTD.
Did a test yesterday morning which was also negative. I rang the clinic as their official test date is next Tuesday. I don’t want to carry on with pessaries if the cycle has failed. It’s just prolonging the time I can start again. The clinic isn’t open until Monday.

StorkVisit · 10/08/2025 07:57

Have any of you got experience of paying for multi cycle or refund protection plans?
it looks like Care offer multi cycle but expect that you do 3 egg retrievals before you would even look at transfer. I’m not overly keen on going through the process back to back.
My logic is if the next transfer is successful, I don’t want to go through the process over and over. We don’t want to try for a sibling but maybe I’m looking at it all wrong.

DeeKel · 10/08/2025 08:14

@StorkVisit I’m so sorry and sending you hugs. I can understand not wanting to do back to back cycles especially if you don’t want to bank for future siblings. Do they offer a free consultation that you can chat with them about options that would suit you and if they think 3 cycles is what would be needed to result in one full term pregnancy?

I stupidly tested this morning at like 6am. I’m only 4dp5dt at about 2:30pm today so it was probably more like day 3.5pt but it was as white as they come. It was a cheapie test strip but is supposed to detect 10miu. I don’t have any others tests at home and you can’t get first response ones in clinics here so I may have to look for clear blue ultra early. Anyway don’t know why I did it to myself and now I can’t shake the feeling it hasn’t worked. Sorry if it’s TMI but I had some cervical mucus yesterday twice with a little brown tinge and I was so exhausted but now nothing- no sore boobs today, no cramping. Now in my sane mind I know most of that is likely caused by progesterone and mi body has probably just adjusted to the hormone levels but I seem to have lost my sanity this morning.

Hope everyone is doing ok 💕

@DeeKel, thank you for your reply.

I they’d meet with us initially to talk through protocol changes. I think we can have a free consultation. Maybe I’ll feel better once I’ve spoken to them and know my options.
I don’t want to rule out the 3 cycle option if there’s a good reason to all of the ERs before going ahead with transfer. Maybe you’re more likely to have more blasts this way. Not sure if I’d feel less pressure. If I had some Frosties too. This time we only had one blast make it.

I know some people get a positive on day 5 but if you’ve done the test in the afternoon and so early, I think there’s a strong chance of a positive in a few days.

Hi everyone, I've been ignoring everything the last couple of days and trying to enjoy our holiday. Good luck to everyone still on their journey and in really sorry for everyone that is having a difficult time...

I got the call on Thursday that or embryo didn't develop enough on day 6 so we have nothing from this round. This was our second on a 2 cycle package so i don't know what our next steps will be. I've just turned 40 so cannot get any NHS treatment and can't afford any more rounds privately 🙁. We are just going to take some time to come to terms with everything I think.

DeeKel · 10/08/2025 20:56

@Allnew2021 I’m sorry to read your update. I’m so glad you went on a holiday and hopefully had to some time to recharge and try to heal a little after that news.
Im in Ireland and am paying privately but my clinic off Huum monthly payment plan if that’s an option to consider? They have set up a satellite clinic in London but I’m sure many clinics do similar. I know it’s too soon for you to even think about but I supposed just wanted to let you know there may be some options that could work better financially. Right now just focus on processing and healing ❤️

@StorkVisit I had a 3 cycle package with my previous clinic. The logic was that it banks more embryos while you’re young, which made sense as I had a MMC so that took about 3 months all together from embryo transfer before I was able to start again. They said if you have a lot of embryos it could be a year to transfer them all even if it doesn’t work, so since I was 40 at the time it was sensible. That’s why I just did dual stim for my most recent cycle. It’s devastating when transfer doesn’t work, which has also happened to me, but you can be trying again two weeks later. I would say it depends on your age and also how many children you want.

RainbowFluff · 10/08/2025 21:21

@Allnew2021 sorry to hear this news. If you’re ready to look into it, a friend recommended Gaia to me - they fund the cycle and do payment plans. I didn’t use them in the end but it looked very promising.

StorkVisit · 10/08/2025 21:38

@RainbowFluff I’ve got it into my head that I’d like one. I’m not sure I can allow myself to think 2 might be possible.
The logic makes sense and it might be the way to go given that we only had one embryo at the point of transfer this time.
Thank you for the advice and I’m sorry you’ve gone through this and the MMC

StorkVisit · 10/08/2025 21:40

@Allnew2021 I’ve typed this a few times but it’s not easy to find the words. I can only imagine how you feel.
I know sometimes people who were told they’d never conceive naturally and do. I hope you do get to have your baby.

Allnew2021 · 11/08/2025 07:16

Thank you to everyone for the kind words. We have already paid for 2 cycles through a multi-cycle package so really not sure if we can pay any more.
We have a follow up with the Dr in the next week so we will hopefully find out what went wrong since. I think maybe it was something to do with the trigger. I had buserelin trigger this time and only got 3 eggs from 11 follicles, on my last cycle I only had 3 follicles grow but we triggered with zivafert (not sure on the skirting!) and got 3 mature eggs (unfortunately non were viable after pgta testing).

Miraclemuma03 · 11/08/2025 08:00

@Allnew2021 so sorry about your news. That is devastating and I hope your holiday gives you a bit of a break.

StorkVisit · 11/08/2025 08:20

@Allnew2021 I wondered if your trigger was timed too early or too late? I got told to take meriofert and my trigger in the same day to boost the size of my follicles. Not sure if that was the right plan for me.
I hope you get the answers you need and that gives you clarity in terms of what to do next. Sending warm wishes.

RainbowFluff · 11/08/2025 11:37

@Allnew2021 I didn’t have much luck with buserelin only as a trigger if it helps, I had my lowest number retrieved and they said it’s because some of the eggs hadn’t released properly from the follicles and they couldn’t get them out. The cycles where I had HCG as the trigger I had eggs collected from every follicle. It is so crappy having to find out all these things cycle by cycle, I found it really frustrating.

VioIetMoon · 11/08/2025 13:08

Hi ladies, when did your clinic trigger you? My clinic are planning on triggering me tonight but I only have 3 follicles around the 16mm range.
I was told in the past at previous clinic they trigger after 18mm? Last cycle I was triggered when I had follicles ranging between 18mm and 22mm

Pinguino24 · 11/08/2025 13:23

@VioIetMoon I was triggered when I had bigger follicles than that, but then I also had follicles smaller than 16mm at that point which produced mature eggs. I think the key is to ask your clinic to explain their strategy - eg it could be also based on your hormone levels.

RainbowFluff · 11/08/2025 14:08

@VioIetMoon Mine said it’s to do with when the oestrogen plateaus, that is a sign that you need to trigger regardless of follicle size. Whenever I tried to push for longer they said I couldn’t due to that.

StorkVisit · 11/08/2025 16:49

@VioIetMoon I had 7/8 follicles at 17mm when I was asked to trigger though I was also asked to inject with meriofert. I’m not sure if I triggered too early as I only got 5 eggs. I’ll ask what went wrong when I get to review it all.
I’d ask for their reasoning.
