July IVF/ICSI/FET

I didn’t see a thread for July IVF yet. I am due to start stims around 18Jul with estrogen priming starting the week before that. Collection will be the end of July all going well.
This will be my second IVF and I will be using ICSI. I will be 40 during treatment and 41 come collection. I have a child from my first IVF 3 years ago. Since then I had a chemical pregnancy Dec 2024 with my only other embryo from my 2022 cycle and a failed IUI in Feb this year.
I found the discussion board really helpful and supportive in my first IVF round as we all understand the crazy ups and downs of this rollercoaster. Wondering if there are any others with similar timing?

@Miraclemuma03 im thinking of you, i am a notoriously early tester and I drive myself completely insane with it. On my successful pregnancy I got the very faintest of lines 5dp5dt - I swear I was holding it up to the light to try see something. Hoping you get your BFP tomorrow or the next day.
@RainbowFluff well done on finishing another transfer- hopefully you get some lovely healthy embryos from those 7
@Bloop123 i would read that as a positive once it should up within the time so tentative congratulations!

Ive had a bit of a day. I had a pain in my leg 2 days ago and then saw a red patch last night so I went to the emergency dept and they said I have superficial thrombophlebitis so basically a blood clot. They gave me two doses of blood thinner and I’ve to go back tomorrow to get a scan for DVT. I contacted my clinic and if it’s a DVT I have to defer the fresh transfer on Wednesday. I asked for a 3 day update seen as I had to message them and they said 6/7 are normal day 3 6-8 cell embryos and the 7th one was a little slow and is 5 cell but it was still early in the day so they will give it time. Hoping a few keep pushing through to day 5 🤞🏻

@DeeKel oh no, you really are going through it with this cycle. That’s so unlucky, I hope they won’t find a DVT on the scan.

DeeKel · 04/08/2025 18:38

@RainbowFluff maybe i will be lucky enough for it all to be a story to tell a little someone how they came to be! I just gonna take the positives that I have at least 6 good day 3 embryos and keep my fingers crossed for Wednesday. I’m nervously excited at the thoughts of getting to transfer, it’s awful as you don’t want to get hopes up either to protect yourself.

oh no! Sorry to hear that @DeeKel, good that you’re getting it properly checked over through :) and absolutely even if you have to delay transfer, you’re deffo on track to get some embryos! xxx

StorkVisit · 04/08/2025 19:58

@DeeKel hope you get told you’re ok to proceed / don’t have DTV.
im resisting the urge to test for now and hoping for good news.

DeeKel · 04/08/2025 21:53

Can I ask about spotting post retrieval? I was having brown spotting up until today (day 3) but this evening it’s fresh blood and I don’t know what’s going on. Maybe it’s normal but I don’t recall this from my other IVF cycle. I’m on two progesterone injections a day in preparation for my fresh transfer and now I don’t know what’s happening.

@DeeKel i didn’t have much bleeding myself but my nurse told me not to be alarmed if I have “what seems like a period”, so I wouldn’t be too worried. Maybe let your clinic know for reassurance though?

Miraclemuma03 · 04/08/2025 22:12

@DeeKel wow your not having a great time. So does that mean you have to wait for a new cycle for transfer?

So I had another negative this morning. Im going to stop testing now and wait for my beta which im going to assume will be negative.

@Bloop123 id be very sceptical of a line on clear blue that came up after the time frame as they are notorious for those lines to appear but test again it could be a positive. Good luck.

StorkVisit · 04/08/2025 22:13

@DeeKel I bled after E.R. Initially I was told I had a cyst but when I came round the DR said it was a really large follicle.
she said she gave me some anti biotics. I needed a pad for 3 days after ER and then on day 4, the bleeding stopped. It wasn’t heavy but I needed a pad.

DeeKel · 04/08/2025 22:17

Thank you all so much for replying to me. I think after the day I had today I was starting to spiral when I saw it. I rang my sister to have her on stand by in case I had to go to the hospital and I needed my toddler minded (I’m a single mother by choice). I’ll reach out to my clinic in the morning too. Could be that I had blood thinners today and possibly the ovaries are still healing or something but I’m glad to hear it’s not fully unexpected. You have given me much needed peace to hopefully get some sleep tonight!
@Miraclemuma03 im so sorry to read you had another negative. I still think it’s early and will hold out hope for you ❤️
@Bloop123 hoping you get a clearer answer in the coming days. This is all such a mind f**k.
@StorkVisit thanks for the advice I’ll get a pad for tonight. Hope you are keeping well.

@Miraclemuma03 Im in England we don’t have the blood test here. The clinic say to do a test on day 12 and if that’s positive, we then get booked in for a scan. Day 12 feels like ages. 😩
Hope you get your positive.

Miraclemuma03 · 04/08/2025 22:19

@RainbowFluff how do you feel after collection? Those 7 eggs might be of better quality so you get better fertilisation. I know personally for me, the more eggs collected the worse my fertilisation rate is.

Miraclemuma03 · 04/08/2025 22:22

@StorkVisit iv had a cough thats relentless since transfer that has been keeping me up all night for 6 days now. Hope your feeling better soon. It should not effect anything.. just rest up.

Our clinic dont take a hpt as a definitive answer they actually tell you not to test at home. I should have listened but here we are. We have to wait 14 days after a fresh transfer, the wait is a killer

Bloop123 · 05/08/2025 08:54

It was stark negative this morning, so Im pretty sure I am out, not just because of the tests but I’m bleeding more today too. It’s hard thinking we’ll have to start from the beginning again. for those that have gone through multiple cycles, how do you cope!? I don’t even know if I’m resilient enough.

also for those in the UK, do you know how quickly you can do another cycle? I’ve got low AMH so really don't want to wait around and it’s the waiting that I find takes the toll.

hope everyone else has more positive news xx

Bloop123 · 05/08/2025 08:56

It breaks my heart to think we might not be able to have a baby of our own :(:(

Im sorry for your negative. I also received a negative. Im so heartbroken because I honestly thought it had worked, I just felt in my heart it worked and it all came crashing down when I received those negatives. I rang my clinic this morning and asked if I had to continue my meds and of course they told me this is why we say dont do hpt and wait for beta, yes you have to continue with your meds until beta confirmation.

StorkVisit · 05/08/2025 09:13

@Bloop123 I honestly hope you get your BFP in a few days. In the event it’s negative. I’m honestly so sorry.
This is my first cycle. I transferred on the 30th so I think a day after you?
My logical head tells me, for a lot of people, they don’t get pregnant in the first cycle. I’m telling myself that if we have to try again, the doctors will have much more info so ought to be able to tailor meds, protocol more to us and our needs.
We only get one cycle free where I live so I’d have to pay which will mean money will be tight.
I don’t know why but I’m telling myself that it’ll either happen this cycle and we will have a late March/ April baby or a June baby.
of course the reality is, if this cycle fails, I’ll be devastated.
i believe most people can try from their next cycle. Because the progesterone delays your period and we don’t have meds etc, I would think the earliest to try again would be September?

StorkVisit · 05/08/2025 09:14

I wish England did blood tests. I have to wait until 13 dpt to test.

RainbowFluff · 05/08/2025 09:39

@StorkVisit my previous clinic did a blood test around day 10 post transfer, I’m in England. I did a HPT too but they didn’t advise it and still did the blood test, when my HPT was negative for the frozen transfer I had to stay on the progesterone until I’d had the blood test to confirm.

@DeeKel I’ve never had any bleeding after transfer other than the tiniest spotting for an hour or so after, but it does seem very possible that blood thinners could cause it.

@Miraclemuma03 You’re not out of the running yet, I’m holding out hope for you. I feel fine today thank you, my pain was gone by about 8pm yesterday. For me it’s always a much quicker recovery with less eggs so that’s something to be thankful for! I got the call today that 4 of the eggs have fertilised, so we are continuing to have lower fertilisation rates with zymot and AOA than we had without. But the clinic are convinced it will lead to better quality so we have to trust them.

@Bloop123 Don’t give up yet, it’s a hard journey but you never know what will happen down the line (mind you I’m on cycle 5 with no baby so I’m not a great example!). For us we’re taking the view that we want to know we’ve tried everything, which is what we can control, but we can’t control the outcome. For me I was able to start on my next cycle, so when my frozen transfer failed last October I had a cycle starting with my November period.

StorkVisit · 05/08/2025 10:30

I tested this morning. It wasn’t first thing and the test was negative. I wish I’d have waited. It’s only 6 days post transfer so I’m hoping I’ll get a positive later.

VioIetMoon · 05/08/2025 11:30

@StorkVisit sorry yo hear that. Sending you lots of love.
Did you use an early test ?
Or the test clinic provided

StorkVisit · 05/08/2025 12:07

I used a clear blue early response. The clinic said to wait until the 12th August so I am hoping it’s just a bit soon but I feel really disappointed/ deflated today

DeeKel · 05/08/2025 12:36

@Miraclemuma03 @Bloop123 and @StorkVisit I am crossing my fingers for you all. I really hope your start seeing positive lines, it’s so hard not to test early and then the disappointment that crashed into you is horrendous. I think they say the early test results are in the minority and we really do need to wait for the HCG to build up to test positive. I really do hope it is that for you all, it’s such a difficult and heartbreaking journey- such absolute warriors here.

@Bloop123 if you did have to do another cycle my clinic says it’s better to do it within 3months of the previous cycle as your body is more primed to respond to the hormones.
My friend who was 43 doing her first IVF cycle had one blast to transfer and it was BFN. She went into another cycle within 2 months and got 4 blastocysts. Became pregnant with her first untested transfer (her son is 1 year old now) and has 3 in the freezer.

Im currently sitting in the waiting room of the hospital to see the doctor but the scan technician said he didn’t see any DVT and it’s just clots in the superficial veins so hopefully I can go ahead with transfer tomorrow providing I have a day 5 blastocyst.
This group really helped me through a shit day yesterday and I’m so grateful.
Sending hugs to all those that need it 💕

@DeeKel oh wonderful, I hope the doctor said the same thing. The ups and downs are real aren't they!
