Hi 👋
I'm due to commence IVF next month (injections to start 2nd October).
Thought I'd start a group for anyone going through the same thing at the same time to support each other ☺️

@sirensong That looks more promising, so fingers crossed! Just need to get at least one euploid embryo now.😓

Re follicle sizes: I had 16 follicles in my last scan before egg collection. They were very uneven in terms of sizes, a couple of them made it to 18mm and if I remember correctly, about 8 more were between 10-15 mm at that point. The other 6 were very small and had no chance. The nurse thought we'd have to delay egg collection to give a chance to the 10-15mm ones to catch up a bit. In the end they decided not to delay, because they were worried that the two larger ones would over mature. We collected 6 eggs in the end.
For my 2nd cycle of the duo stim, I'm on a slightly lower dosage of Pergoveris. They think last time my dosage was too high and it caused the follicles to grow unevenly. It sounds counterintuitive to me but I'll just have to trust them and see what happens.

What's your dilemma?

sirensong · 31/10/2024 11:11

@BelleCrescent Thanks. My dilemma is about whether to trigger tonight (for Saturday collection) or on Saturday for Monday collection (tomorrow not an option as the clinic doesn't do Sunday collections). My scan results from yesterday are shown on the right here and sound similar to the spread you had.

Delaying might sacrifice the top few but give the cohort below a better chance. Waiting for yesterday's oestradiol and LH blood results for a steer one way or the other.

Feeling nauseous to the point of waking in the night - is that normal?

@BelleCrescent Our current clinic advised against PGT-A testing. The Drs words were.....if the embryo isn't Euploid the clinic will not transfer them and I could be left with nothing but a dent in my pocket. When in fact if an embryo is missing 1 chromo, it can still lead to a completely healthy baby.

I am thinking about getting the ERA/ALICE/EMMA tests done, if all ok, doing double transfer for the two remaining (we have to pay to keep frozen come March). If that fails and my AMH levels are ok, do another full round overseas.

BelleCrescent · 31/10/2024 11:52

@sirensong I understand your dilemma, it's a difficult one and not sure what I'd do! By Monday you might lose the 19mm one, but you have quite a few over 10mm.
It's impossible to tell how quickly your follicles will grow. I had a few that looked like they were developing nicely but then suddenly stopped growing. And others were a bit slow initially but caught up later. I'm afraid it's all a bit random.
If I were you, I'd be tempted to wait with my trigger until Sat but I don't want to give you the wrong advice. 😓I'm thinking those 13mm follicles might not be ready for tonight...but you never know of course. What did you clinic suggest? Do you have another scan today?

I did feel very sick and had a lot of discomfort in my ovaries in the days leading up to my egg collection. I could barely sleep! I felt much better a couple of days after the EC though.

BelleCrescent · 31/10/2024 11:57

@AnonS I've heard this before, my clinic was all for PGT-A though! I think up until recent years the results were not so reliable but these days they're meant to be 98% accurate.
You have to do what you feel comfortable with. If I end up with no embryos to transfer, I might regret going for it!! 😅

Fingers crossed for your double transfer!

sirensong · 31/10/2024 12:21

@BelleCrescent the clinic were leaning towards a Saturday trigger after I spoke about the smaller cohort but have just phoned with my oestradiol level - 8500 pmol. They now want to trigger tonight to avoid potential OHSS. I need to read up what this oestradiol level implies - can you remember what yours was?

Will have to hope that the extra dose of stims last night plus growth leading up to Saturday gives the smaller guys a chance.

Scorbunny2 · 31/10/2024 12:41

Was back for scan today and all is perfect to move onto Pergoveris and back tomorrow week for another scan. Getting real now.

@Scorbunny2 that's great. I started Pergoveris last week and in tomorrow to check how the follicles are doing.
In again at the weekend then to decide egg retrieval day.

BelleCrescent · 31/10/2024 13:40

@sirensong They didn't check my oestradiol level which makes me question them now..
I think it's best if you go with whatever they suggest, especially as OHSS can be nasty.
My clinic retrieved anything over 15mm, if that's what your clinic does then I think the 13mm ones would be probably ok by now.
I've just remembered another thing they said: the nurse thought the largest follicles I have could be my best ones, as they were growing at a faster rate than the other ones. So it'd be a shame to miss those if you waited longer.
Keep us posted!

Scorbunny2 · 31/10/2024 15:59

@Clairebear101 thanks. Here trying to figure dates our so I will know for work and stuff.

Feliciacat · 31/10/2024 21:52

Are we carrying on with this thread or starting a November one? I’m happy to carry on with this one but will do what the majority want.

Sounds like people are coming along nicely with their treatments!

kerrym87 · 01/11/2024 07:14

BFN for me yesterday with 5th transfer. One mosaic left but we need chat with embryologist to decide what to do with it. Which won't be before jan for a transfer now. Fingers crossed for those collecting eggies

Feliciacat · 01/11/2024 08:20

@kerrym87 so sorry about your BFN. It must be so disappointing. I hope you can enjoy the festive period as well as possible and that you have some luck in the new year.

I ended up with two 5AAs and a 4BB from my ivf cycle (from six retrieved eggs). They’ve frozen one 5AA and the 4BB. I have one 5AA inside me now. OTD 11/11/24. I’m not holding out much hope as it’d be crazy lucky to get a BFP on my first go. I’m grateful I have two more embryos though. If this doesn’t work then I’d probably leave the next transfer until the new year so I can enjoy Xmas.

BelleCrescent · 01/11/2024 08:44

@Feliciacat That's a really nice outcome with 3 good quality embryos, so fingers crossed!
I would happily carry on with this thread in Nov. I'm just doing stims for the 2nd part of my duo stim, then waiting for PGT-A results! I guess I'm a bit different to others because I won't have a transfer for a little while..

wateringcanface · 01/11/2024 08:51

Hello everyone.

I think im deluding myself but does anyone see the faintest positive ? I'm 5dp5dt. I didn't intend to test but caved. Please be honest. I'd rather managed expectations than false optimism.

@@Feliciacat 50% blast is a great conversion!

@BelleCrescent How many eggs were retrieved first time and is it the smaller ones already tracked that are part of the second stimulation round or entirely new ones? My consultant said I wasn't a good candidate for duo stim but I want to doublecheck that as I'm interested in speed.

@wateringcanface Visible line! Everything crossed for you.

wateringcanface · 01/11/2024 09:18

@sirensong

Thank you. I'm not telling oh till I'm more confident, as we are male factor he's been very concerned it won't work for him, so I want to be sure as to not create more heart ache. X

Feliciacat · 01/11/2024 10:12

@wateringcanface I do not want to rain on your parade (I do see a definite line). However, my clinic told me not to test before 9dp5dt because before then I’d get a false positive. They said it’s because of all the hormones I’d had preceding the embryo transfer.

I mean, maybe your treatment was different to mine in a way that means you wouldn’t get a false positive. You wanted honesty though and I was under the impression that false positives can be common before 9dp5dt. I hope you get a positive next week.

BelleCrescent · 01/11/2024 11:39

@sirensong These are entirely new ones, I've just had my 1st scan and asked that question. I don't really understand why, my appointment was unfortunately with a nurse I don't like, she's always very unfriendly and brief with her responses and not as thorough with the scan as the other nurses. 😓
I think duo stim is mainly recommended to those who're over 40 or younger but have low AMH. I'm not sure of any other reasons why they wouldn't want to do it. Perhaps worried about OHSS?

wateringcanface · 01/11/2024 12:38

Hi @Feliciacat don't worry no parade yet 😂. As far as I know its just the trigger shot that can give a false positive, and I tested day 1-3 to check it was out of my system. There is a chance it's that though. I'm quite crampy today (mild but noticeable) so not feeling too confident.

Feliciacat · 01/11/2024 13:57

@wateringcanface ah well I had a dual trigger as they weren’t confident I’d respond. Lots of people (probably yourself included) just have a single trigger injection. So three days could be correct for you. I’m sorry for any misinformation. So that could well be a positive. Fingers crossed!

wateringcanface · 01/11/2024 14:27

it wasn't misinformation @Feliciacat ,you are right, you can get false positives due to the trigger, I'm just quite confident mine is out of my system, though obviously I can't be 100%. I have just been doing some reading that clear blues have a rep for false positives, and I'm feeling quite periody today, so I'm not getting too hopeful. I did buy 2 cheapie tests for today, and a clear blue for tomorrow (it's all my local shops have) I tried to re-take but it didn't work (how can someone mess a pregnancy test up?!) will try again when I need my next wee but I think it'll be too diluted now.

Well done on your amazing results btw felciacat, having some frozen is massively reassuring.

Not sure if this will be helpful or not but I ordered First Response early response from Amazon and they came the same day (I appreciate we might live near a warehouse to get them same day but worth a look as they are supposed to be reliable tests).

Scorbunny2 · 01/11/2024 15:32

I have been hit down with bronchitis and a sinus infection. On antibiotics so hoping it won't mess things with my cycle. Should I tell the clinic?

wateringcanface · 01/11/2024 15:43

Thanks @Nic28j I have just looked, can get it by 1pm tomorrow, that'll do!

My amazon one was negative, but that one wasn't an early response one, and I have been to the toilet a few times today, so maybe it's too diluted.

@Scorbunny2 - Sorry you are not well, I think it is best to let them know, they'll probably not want to do transfer if you are on anti-biotics, it might unfortunately hold things up a bit but if you have invested so much in this process, its best to have all the conditions optimum - they also might say its no biggie!
