Hiya, I am currently on long protocol, had my down regulation injection in 3rd July, got about a week and a half till I start my stims then got egg collection pencilled in 8th July. Do you know when you will have your egg collection?

We do have a chat already going for ivf in June/July if you want to join although it's not specifically people on long protocol

Oops I meant down regulation injection in 3rd June but don't know how to edit my post

Butterfly4421 · 15/06/2024 17:13

Hiya, ah okay I didn't realise!

I had my first injection weds 12th no date for egg collection yet just got my first scan booked in for the 25th then think we go from there then start the stims!

Is it your first time? Xx

CakePigeon30 · 15/06/2024 17:17

@Butterfly4421 yes this is my first time, how about you? My scan is also on the 25th so on the same day then hopefully starting stims on the 26th if all goes well so looks like we will probs be on similar timeframes. What medication are you on?

Butterfly4421 · 15/06/2024 17:20

Hey, ah the same day too!

Yes first time for me, I am on buserelin 0.5 injections :)

How are you feeling? I'm yet to feel any symptoms but not sure how long they will take to kick in aha xx

OP posts:
CakePigeon30 · 15/06/2024 17:24

I've been quite tired but I work in a school and we had Ofsted this last week so might be just off that - apart from that I feel absolutely fine!
Are you injecting every day for down regulation? My down regulation is Prostap and it is just one injection that lasts three weeks - dreading the daily injections!

Butterfly4421 · 15/06/2024 17:38

Ah bless you that must have been hard!
I work from home so lucky in that aspect. Yes I inject every morning, it's not to bad so far I ordered some ice packs and they seem to help, so Ice before so it numbs the area I'm not looking forward to moving onto two a day aha as when I start stims will still be the buserelin everyday.
Also I found slowly pushing the 'liquid' in helps rather than doing it quickly xx

Hey, can I join? @CakePigeon30 we spoke before! Glad to see you are doing well. I am on long protocol. Been taking buserelin since 29th May. I’ve been ok but, phew last couple of days the hot flushes have been something else! I had my scan yesterday to check if I had down regulated- all went well and I start Menopur stim injections tonight so it’ll be my first time of double injections! @Butterfly4421 is it you’re first round of IVF too? @CakePigeon30 how was ofsted? I’m also a teacher!

Butterfly4421 · 15/06/2024 19:12

Hey!

Ah bless you I've heard about the flushes but I'm feeling okay at the minute but it's only day 4 for me! Good luck for this evening with your second injections!

Yes it's my first time :) xx

OP posts:
CakePigeon30 · 15/06/2024 19:39

@MerryBrickHelper ah yes think we were on similar time frames! I didn't end up getting my down regulation injection till the 3rd. Hope yours is going ok. I'm on Prostap for down regulation and then Meriofert for stims.

Ofsted wasn't too bad actually just tiring - couldn't keep my eyes open last night - not sure if it's the down regulation or just the busy week! How are you finding getting the time off with work?

MerryBrickHelper · 16/06/2024 21:44

@Butterfly4421 the hot flashes only really kicked in after two weeks! It’s ok in the day but I’m struggling to sleep in the night. Double injections have been ok- the menopur needle is thinner so it’s been adjusting to that but otherwise no snags!

@CakePigeon30 My first apt was in half term so, so far I only needed one apt (last Friday ) but I got the impression the next two weeks are quite scan heavy - I have another scan on Friday to see if my follicles are responding. My school have been ok- mainly because I taught 4 Y11 classes and now they are gone my timetable has dropped so I don’t require much cover. However I have a lot of whole school responsibilities so I’m thinking I might get signed off after egg collection; which I’ve never done in my entire teaching career but I have found the last two weeks hard and apparently the stimming part makes you feel even worse 🤣 how about your school? I just think teaching doesn’t give much scope for taking it ‘easy’

Butterfly4421 · 16/06/2024 21:50

Ah I could still have it all to come then aha!

Glad the two injections are going okay for you!

I've also heard of people taking sick leave for the 2 week wait! I was advised upto 3 days off for egg collection but think I'm just going to take everything as it comes and definitely just be off work if I'm not up to it! Times like these we have to put ourselves first xx

CakePigeon30 · 18/06/2024 18:19

@Butterfly4421 my clinic has recommended two days - day off egg collection and then day after.

@MerryBrickHelper my school are really flexible. I'm not going to take the full time off but just try to take it easy in lessons.

Butterfly4421 · 19/06/2024 20:11

Ah yeah mine said the day of and up to two days after :)

Have either of you had your 'period' yet? I have been told I have to have had that before my scan otherwise I have to put the scan back as the down regulation has to have worked first. I took my 8th injection today but no bleed as of yet! Hope your both feeling okay xx

OP posts:
CakePigeon30 · 19/06/2024 21:02

@Butterfly4421 because I'm on Prostap, I was told I could start any day of my cycle and that I could still get a period as normal but would stop me ovulating for next period. I actually got it the day after my injection and it was soooo long - double the length actually - normally five days and it lasted ten.

My scan is on the 25th. I get another injection of Prostap then so shouldn't get another bleed at all.

Did they say how many days of Injections approx before the bleed? How you doing with injections? I asked the clinic to do my down regulation was so scared to do stims by myself lol

Butterfly4421 · 19/06/2024 21:28

Ah really! I've heard it can be longer/ heavy etc I'm on down regulation for 14 days with a scan booked in for the 25th, but as I say I have to have had a bleed first and nothing yet!

Been on good old google and most people said comes between 7-10 days so hoping it will come soon! I only usually have a period for 1-2 days so expecting something longer aha

Injection wise my other half is doing them for me in the morning 😂 so the first ones I looked away at but I'm okay now I just Ice it before and then can't even feel it go in!

For my stims though I have this pen do you have one? And that's a case of pushing the top but that looks like that one goes in with right some force so to be honest I'm apprehensive at starting those and moving to two a day! Xxx

OP posts:
CakePigeon30 · 19/06/2024 22:07

@Butterfly4421 ah I don't have my medicine for stims yet, pick them up from the 25th and they'll go through them with me, so no clue if it's a pen or needle, but do no that I will be on Meriofert

Butterfly4421 · 19/06/2024 22:10

Ahh okay, I had all mine delivered before hand so have everything, I'm not actually sure the name of mine I'll have to look! I have to keep it in the fridge the medication for stims xx

OP posts:
MerryBrickHelper · 20/06/2024 16:48

@Butterfly4421 are you on burserelin? My period was really late so it was originally due on the Wednesday and it arrived on the Sunday. It then last a while a lot longer than my normal period! I’ve been on menopur since last Saturday; no side effects so far other than I feel like I can feel my ovaries but it’s probably in my head! I have a scan tomorrow to check how I’m getting on so abit worried. Hoping there’s been some good growth and no OHSS. Glad to hear your both getting on ok- nice to have two people who are in similar stages of ivf to me!

Butterfly4421 · 20/06/2024 17:56

I'm on buserelin now yeah if that's how you spell it aha and on that for 2 weeks, well already done a week so just waiting for my period now I'm due on Saturday! And my scan is booked in for 25th period depending as they have said if I don't start before they will have to put the scan back before I can start the stims Injections!
We all seem to be very close in dates! :) xx

OP posts:
Butterfly4421 · 20/06/2024 17:57

Also hope your scan goes okay tomorrow! Xx

OP posts:
MerryBrickHelper · 21/06/2024 15:06

@Butterfly4421 it went ok-ish. Feel abit deflated in some ways. One ovary has 7 eggs, the other ovary has only grown two and there are lots of little ones. They doubled my dosage so I’m not on 450ml of menopur as opposed to 225ml. I have another scan Monday to check my response to that. I know it’s quite common to up or down dosage but it is just all consuming isn’t it. I think because it’s my first cycle it’s all abit new and scary. The nurse didn’t seem worried so trying to remind myself of that! When is your down regulation scan?

Butterfly4421 · 22/06/2024 00:04

Hey, ah bless you hopefully everything is okay! I was told they will increase dosage etc so expect its very normal try not to worry as hard as that is! My Amh is really low of 2 but then my scan showed more follicles so they have said mine will be a case of seeing how I go but that's why they put me on the long protocol, I think I already start on a high dose but will have a look what I'm expected to start on :)

My first scan is Tuesday then I will start stims, my periods started today which I'm glad about as means I can have that scan Tuesday and won't be pushed back!

How are you feeling in yourself now on the stims meds? Xx

OP posts:
CakePigeon30 · 22/06/2024 09:26

@MerryBrickHelper I think that if you manage to get those 9 eggs at egg retrieval then it's already a good number, but hopefully upping the dose will make the little ones catch up.

CakePigeon30 · 22/06/2024 09:26

@Butterfly4421 glad your period turned up in time!
