IVF/ICSI May or late April

Is anyone else gearing up to do IVF/ICSI in May?

My meds have arrived and I start my down regs next week to start a long protocol ICSI cycle, my egg collection will then be mid-May.

Had my first ICSI cycle in Feb which resulted in only 1 embryo which was transferred on day 5, but BFN. I found the support group on here super helpful with my last cycle, so wondering if anyone else is in a similar position?

if it’s any consolation I had only two decent follicles at my scan around the 7 day mark in my first cycle. They even told me they would cancel if nothing more happened over the weekend. When I went back on the Monday they could see at least 4 had grown big enough to explore. So hold tight, your body may kick in to action for Monday.

I also had a disappointing scan this morning. Turns out I have now got a pesky cyst, ggrrr!! which means I can’t start stims until it goes away. In any case, my period still hasn’t arrived, now 2 days late!! I’m going back on Monday for a scan to see if the cyst has gone down and hopefully my period would have arrived by then. I’m going to try some sort of fertility yoga to see if it gets things flowing in there.

@Ashleighlouise its hard not to think the worst, but there’s no reason the meds won’t have worked. Im sure there’s loads going on in there you just can’t feel it!

Sounds like it’s gonna be a long weekend for us all waiting for Mondays scans…

@AnnieStar12 thank you. I knew we wouldn’t get many but it’s a shock when it actually becomes real and not just a scenario in your head. I really had hoped we’d get more and now I have the worry of them not being mature and then again not fertilising or making it very far (as we also have crap sperm as well as crap eggs). I’d been doing so well to stay positive and it’s come crashing down today.

Sorry you’ve also had a rubbish scan, must be so frustrating having cysts and the waiting is one of the worst bits of IVF so I really feel for you. Fertility yoga sounds like a good idea, get things moving.

fingers crossed for everyone on Monday. I just want to be a pig and eat bad food and chocolate now today. So frustrating trying so hard and cutting everything nice out your diet for it just not to work. 😔 Would kill for a sharing bag of minstrels to cry in to 🙃

Don't follicles grow at a rate of 2mm a day with Sims so there's still time for the others to catch up :)

So got word I can start my Northisterone today and I’ll be taking that til 5th May. So excited to finally be getting started. They sent a tentative time line of potential egg collection on 22-24 of May if everything goes to plan so fingers, toes and everything crossed we get to that stage 🤞🏼🙏🏼

@AnnieStar12 and @HopefulllHolly I’m so sorry you both had disappointing scans today! Mine also didn’t go well as I only have 2 follicles that might be ready with more stims over the weekend but I apparently need three before they’ll collect eggs? Don’t know what that means if no other follicles kick in. I’m still hopeful that more will start growing in time. Apparently my left ovary isn’t responding. I gave it a good talking to in the car after my scan 😆… in between tears of course!

@HopefulllHolly try not to be too disappointed! Last time with my son I had to stim until day 12 too. I think it’s quite common with low AMH and I definitely had more by the Monday!

@AnnieStar12 is it just a case of waiting or can they do something to speed up the cyst disappearing?

I completely understand 😞 it's so hard when you're faced with the reality but I am crossing my fingers things change over the weekend and on Monday you have better and kore positivity news!!

A good cry can fix most things 🤗 but I hope you're feeling better x

Thank you.. I know there's absolutely no reason why things aren't progressing like they should! It's only day 3 of doing the Ovaleap so got to keep positive!!

@wishfulbean thank you!!! I have a pretty busy weekend ahead so that should keep my distracted! Annoyingly the scan on Monday isn't until 16:30, so I bet work and the day just drags 😂😂

@Ashleighlouise and @HopefulllHolly I’m sorry your scans were not as promising as hoped. It only takes one good follicle to mature and become an embryo, I know that’s not what you might want to hear but hopefully those ovaries will have sorted themselves out by Monday.

I felt quite bloated today and my stomach has been all over the place. It’s my birthday on Monday so I’m going to try and be restrained when it comes to things like cake!

Weigh in Tuesday so just fasting over the weekend , fingers crossed they have a surgery date for May

in so much pain just want to get a cycle done and dusted

@wishfulbean fingers crossed another follicle pops up for you over the weekend.

Im hoping this annoying cyst will just go down on its own. I had the same thing happen before my first cycle - a cyst was there at the baseline scan, it took about a week to start shrinking, I read somewhere that heat can help so I have a hot water bottle permanently on my abdomen - it worked last time so I’m hoping this one also goes down same way. Am still willing on my period as can’t start any stims until AF arrives anyway.

@2tuxedocats Hope you have something nice planned for your birthday. Mine is coming up soon and I can’t really think about it. I was suppose to have my EC the day before my bday so assumed I’d just be in bed, but now it’s been delayed I don’t know yet what stage I’ll be at by then.

@Rebekah77 good luck for Monday. It’s gonna be a big day for lots of us in this group.

We finally have more info! We'll be doing short protocol, hopefully starting menopur injections around 11th-13th May!

Picked up all of the meds etc so it's now starting to feel a bit more real...

Thanks everyone for the lovely thoughts and positivity. I can confirm crying in to a bag of minstrels helped. I woke up feeling more positive thanks to the medicinal chocolate and your kind words. ❤️ Been willing my eggs to grow, going to get out on some long walks this weekend and clear my head (and work off the chocolate I now feel guilty about eating 🤣)

So my period showed this morning so I shall be starting my injections on Monday evening 😬 it can’t be any worse than the cramps right now so feeling positive about it.

@AnnieStar12 thank you, I had my hair done and a meal out with friends today. We have afternoon tea booked for tomorrow and we’ll get a takeaway Monday evening as we’re both working, then I’ll be straight back to swimming/walking daily and eating rabbit food 😂 I hope you get to do something nice for yours, I’ve drastically improved my exercise and eating this year but I do think it’s good to have moments to step back and feel ‘normal’ and not be in TTC mode. I didn’t drink today though as I didn’t want it interfering with the meds.

@Gnatalie16 good luck for Monday, I did my first injection on Thursday; I am really needle phobic, squeamish etc and it was absolutely fine. I put an ice pack on, left the needle in for about 5 seconds after and cut my caffeine right down. I barely felt it to be honest, doing the second one tonight.

Did an FET yesterday and now the waiting game begins. It's the second transfer that we've done this time around. Not really feeling that optimistic honestly... Felt a few twinges today and just over analysing everything. I guess I just need to focus on staying positive and relaxed. What will be will be. The FET went well though, had a nice acupuncture session before and felt very zen, the transfer was really smooth. I just hate these TWWs.

@AnnieStar12 hope the hot water bottle is doing its thing!

@Folklore9074 so pleased to hear you had a smooth transfer and wishing you all the luck during this TWW. I haven’t tried acupuncture before it sounds good! Can you have it during the tww too? I have no idea how often you can have acupuncture. I do jokingly wonder how close we are to getting our acupuncture license with all the injections we do!

@wishfulbean Thanks 💐And yes, you can have acupuncture in the TWW. It doesn't impact on any of the drugs your taking so fine to do. I think a lot of clinics recognise that it can be beneficial when doing IVF. I'm going to have a session next Friday, mid-TWW. Hopefully it will keep me nice and chilled out! Ha!

@Folklore9074 great news that your transfer went well 🤗 the TWW can be so long but hopefully it goes by quickly for you! I've not tried acupuncture but have read about it and it sounds like it can be really beneficial! I probably won't try it this round but if we have to go onto a second a may add it in!!

@Rebekah77 I'm so sorry to hear they are encouraging you to fast during treatment. It feels unnecessarily heartless to threaten to cancel your treatment for being a pound over.

Good news, AF has finally arrived, whoop!! 4 days late, never been happier to see my period, lol!
Now just gotta hope the cyst has gone at my scan tomorrow so I can get stimming.

@Folklore9074 congrats on the transfer! Hope you have nice things planned to get through the TWW. When’s your test day?

@Rebekah77 sorry you’re having to worry about losing pounds on top of it all. Is that because you’re down for a general for EC?

@AnnieStar12 great news AF is finally here 🙌🏻 hopefully the cyst has gone by tomorrow, is there anything you can do to help it disappear? Or is it just one of those things that goes away on its own?

@Ashleighlouise Thankyou! Such a relief.

As for cysts, I think they mostly go away on their own, and worst case scenario they can be aspirated. But that would of course delay everything!

Luckily I’m on long protocol which buys me a bit of time as I can keep down regulating for a little longer if needed, rather than have to start on day 2 of the cycle (which would be tomorrow, and I’m desperately hoping I will be able to start then, fingers crossed!)

How are you getting in with the injections? Is your first scan tomorrow?
