IVF/ICSI May or late April

AnnieStar12 · 10/04/2024 22:29

Is anyone else gearing up to do IVF/ICSI in May?

My meds have arrived and I start my down regs next week to start a long protocol ICSI cycle, my egg collection will then be mid-May.

Had my first ICSI cycle in Feb which resulted in only 1 embryo which was transferred on day 5, but BFN. I found the support group on here super helpful with my last cycle, so wondering if anyone else is in a similar position?

@AnnieStar12 I’m waiting for my period too. It’s one of the few times I’ve actually wished my period would hurry up and arrive! Sending you lots of good wishes

Sierra26 · 23/04/2024 08:17

@AnnieStar12 I’m actually beginning to wonder! Even the pharmacist had to pull me aside and ask what instructions I’d been given. I’ll ask next time I get the chance.

looking forward to a medication free day today. I felt awful last night, but seem to be better in the mornings. Roll on tomorrow and really hoping for no hyperstimulation issues!

Rebekah77 · 23/04/2024 09:30

7th attempt to start lol

hoping maybe May finally after a year of false starts

hoping meds are ok and not frozen ! Next weigh in is next week

Loute02 · 23/04/2024 10:21

@AnnieStar12 I'll have a medicated FET cycle so I have cetrotide injections as an antagonist. Will be taking progynova as well.

Oh bless you! How come it's taken so many attempts? Fingers crossed for you May is the month!!

Ashleighlouise · 23/04/2024 13:38

Just had my baseline scan! Ovaries and lining all looking good! So starting first injections tomorrow, starting with Ovaleap in the PM 😬 had play round with the pen and administering the injection and all seems easy enough 😂

Sherr33 · 23/04/2024 13:53

Update from my paperwork appointment:

going ahead with FET 🙌
I have my scan appointment next week which is CD21 for me.

Im not sure when they will inject me with the prostrap. But thats one of the injections I will have to switch everything off, so a bit like down reg. I will be on elleste solo 2x2mg 2x a day and tinzaparin due to risk of clots. I'm confused on what my dates mean though 😩
CD21 01/05 , down reg 15/05, CD12 27/05 and potential transfer 03/06

How have I forgotten what the dates mean 🤦‍♀️

They mentioned endometrial scratch as an added option? Has anyone had that?

Loute02 · 23/04/2024 14:19

@Sherr33 I'm going for FET as well 😊 from my notes, I would say your CD12 is for a scan to check the lining. I'm starting regular scans from CD12 as well

Sherr33 · 23/04/2024 14:23

@Loute02 it is. Haha ive just sat and re read all the paperwork. Its the day 12 of taking the elleste solo tablets and its the scan that will measure the endometrial thickness. When I start over thinking I clearly forget everything!

Ooo are we on similar time lines? What medication will you be on? Is this your first FET? SORRY for the 101 questions coming your way

Loute02 · 23/04/2024 15:12

@Sherr33 yes first FET! But scared as I've done only fresh cycles before so feel a bit lost this time around.
Im on CD1 so I'll start cetrotide injection tomorrow and 3 x 2mg of progynova. Then first scan CD12 so 4th of may. A bit ahead of you so can give you a heads-up 😄

Sherr33 · 23/04/2024 15:29

@Loute02 are you on a short or long protocol with your FET? Mine is long. How many fresh cycles have you done? It seems a bit surreal that this has come around. I felt like it would take forever. Now I'm just hoping it all goes to plan

Sierra26 · 23/04/2024 19:10

@Sherr33 i had the endometrial scratch but only because i needed a mock transfer (due to difficult hycosy) and they did it while they were in there. No idea if it’ll make a difference or not as this is my first round! It’s thought to stimulate hormone production but that’s all I know!

DublinIVF · 23/04/2024 22:15

@AnnieStar12 yep have just been told to take it twice a day until I’m told otherwise… will see what happens when I get my period as they’re normally more informative then 😂

@Sherr33 I had the scratch done last month ahead of getting going this month. Given this is my 3rd round of fertility treatments (ICSI + FET) and in general have never been pregnant, they’re trying different things to help the embryo stick. Had the embryo glue last time too.

wishfulbean · 23/04/2024 23:12

Hi all!

Hope it ok to join you too. I'm currently in my first round of IVF for child no.2. My now 2 year old was a successful round 1 ivf baby. Very fortunate to have been so lucky first time so fingers crossed we may be fortunate again... although my AMH has significantly dropped from last time so I know it's very wishful thinking! My 1st was one of four that fertilised but the only one to make it to blastocyst so no frozen eggs and going through a fresh round.

I started my ivf cycle a couple of weeks ago and have finished down regulating and have have been taking stimulation injections. I have my first scan to see how it's going tomorrow. I'm feeling really nervous about it!

Hope everything is going smoothly for you all so far!

AnnieStar12 · 24/04/2024 07:49

Good luck with your scan today @wishfulbean hope you have lots of follicles growing! How did you find the down reg part? I’ve been in that stage for 8 days now, but don’t really feel anything, hope it’s working!

@Sierra26 big day today!! Good luck and let us know how you get on.

@Ashleighlouise hope the first injection goes okay.

I’m just keeping fingers crossed my period comes today or tomorrow so I can get started too.

@AnnieStar12 thank you Smile. I also didn't feel any differently down regulating this time. It's weird though as when we were trying for my first the down reg was quite hard and I really felt the change in hormones! When I went for the down reg scan last week everything looked great though so I've put it down to luck this time!

Ashleighlouise · 24/04/2024 08:31

Welcome @wishfulbean hope your scan goes well today and you have positive news to share later! 😁 also lovely to read your first round was successful - gives me hope!! This is our first round but we do have a daughter as well who was conceived naturally! Starting my injections today and my EC is currently booked for May 6th!

Thank you @AnnieStar12 - I am actually out this evening with plans so going to have to somehow work round doing it while I'm out and about - hopefully this gives me less time to faff around and it's done and dusted quicker 😂😂

Ha omg it’s been a crazy year
every time I’ve started meds for the bleed

I’ve been in agony with my endo
tried notheristorone lasted 7 days
we tried provera
they’re thinking about provera again or hrt

keeping weight under is hard too , they will weigh me throughout and on collection day , already threatened that they will cancel on the day if a pound over

so all in all it’s been stressful
got all the meds ready to go we just can’t get started !

in so much pain everyday I’m just hoping can finally get a going and back on the pill asap

Wow sounds like you have had such a hard time! Hopefully the next set of meds will work for you, is it the meds that are making your endo flair up?

It is so stressful especially if you are being monitored so closely and strictly :( with them saying they would cancel as well, just such a hard time!
When do you start your meds?

2tuxedocats · 24/04/2024 10:07

@AnnieStar12 sending positive vibes your way. My period came last night so I’m waiting for the clinic to give me the go ahead with stims

@Rebekah77 that’s really tough on you but it will be worth it in the end. I’ve found a couple of pounds have crept on since taking norethisterone which is frustrating.

@Sierra26 good luck today!

Rebekah77 · 24/04/2024 10:07

@Ashleighlouise

I’ll try provera again and just hope it isn’t too bad

no idea atm, got another weigh in on Tuesday then see if they have any surgery dates for May

so starvation for me until Tuesday !

EggsFrozenNow · 24/04/2024 13:08

Hi everyone I would like to join, was going to do it earlier but now postponed to May cycle, but starting a month a priming with growth hormones in a few days! Best of luck to everyone

Background:

I'm 35, low AMH which halved compared to a year ago. Recent AFC only 4. Husband is 45, low morphology 3%, HBA low, sperm fragmentation high

First cycle i was on: Menopur + Ganirelix. Trigger shot Ovitrelle

First cycle outcome: first scan 6 follicles, 7 extracted, 4 mature, 2 fertilized with ICSI, only one made it to blasto but quality was too poor for a biopsy

Cloclo93 · 24/04/2024 13:10

Clairehbear · 22/04/2024 18:00

I had a scan at like my first appointment and had 1 follicle but they think it was fluid filled just. So they said 0-1. It’s just hard when you are wanting a child more than anything and it might not happen. I’ve been so down about it all and trying to stay positive, work, go the gym and keep going but I’m just finding it very hard atm.

If it comes down to they can't get any of your eggs at least there is the option of doner eggs! Your not there just yet but, You will still be able to carry your own child, were there's a womb there's a way 🥰

Heyyy @EggsFrozenNow 👋🏼 welcome! How did you find your first cycle? I am just starting with injections today which is Ovaleap and then also start with Ganirelix on Sunday!

Best of luck to you for this upcoming cycle! Are you doing anything different this time round?

HopefulllHolly · 24/04/2024 16:19

Hi everyone! Hope you’re good! Hope it’s ok if I join here too (also on the April thread but I’m behind most of the ladies on there).

It’s my first round of IVF and we’re on short protocol. Have low AMH 4.9 and low AFC 6, and my other half has low morphology (1%) snd motility (18%). The consultant said we have 18% chance of conceiving.

Im on day 7 of stims today, with a scan on Friday to check what we’re working with and hopefully know if the stims have worked. I have actually been feeling great besides a little emotional at silly things and a couple of twinges and headaches. I thought stims would be much worse!

Feeling quite anxious today. All the thoughts of what if it doesn’t work, what if we get no embryos, what if we’re still here doing ivf in 5 years time etc are all taking over my thoughts. Been trying so hard to stay positive, hopefully it’ll help having another scan on Friday anyway.

Hope you’re all doing ok! Anyone on a similar timeline to me?
