IVF/ICSI May or late April

Is anyone else gearing up to do IVF/ICSI in May?

My meds have arrived and I start my down regs next week to start a long protocol ICSI cycle, my egg collection will then be mid-May.

Had my first ICSI cycle in Feb which resulted in only 1 embryo which was transferred on day 5, but BFN. I found the support group on here super helpful with my last cycle, so wondering if anyone else is in a similar position?

@Hollielouise hiya! Ahh it's nice to know I have someone on the same day as me.
My nurse just called me a while ago and the doc has asked me to reduce my dose of Gonal from tonight, and they have asked me to come for my scan tomorrow morning instead of Monday. So I'm feeling nervous now.

I start fyremadel tomorrow morning too! I'm thinking to ice the area before I inject as I've hurt it's a bit of a stinger. Does anyone else have any tips? Dreading it! 🫣

LouP87 · 16/05/2024 16:54

@2tuxedocats I had some brown spotting 9-10DPT. Then pink spotting on 12DPT, which turned back to brown from 13DPT and still going on today (16DPT).

At first I didn’t think anything of it. Then had a meltdown at the pink spotting, finally emailed my clinic last night about it and they’ve asked me to go in tomorrow morning for a blood test. Fingers crossed it’s nothing and baby is still stuck where they should be.

2tuxedocats · 16/05/2024 17:07

@EvaA17 it does sting I’m afraid but ice definitely helped!

@LouP87 oh bless you, hopefully baby is in the right place and the clinic are being cautious. Hopefully it is nothing to worry about ❤️

Hollielouise · 16/05/2024 18:32

@EvaA17 I'm not sure if my nurse made it overly complicated but she really emphasised the pulling up first to check there's no blood before pushing down. Did everyone else get this brief?! Not sure how I pinch, pull and push 😂

Good luck for tomorrow's scan - mine is at 3.30 so update on how it goes! Xx

EvaA17 · 16/05/2024 18:34

Wait @Hollielouise that sounds so confusing, what does that even mean?
I thought I would just push in as normal like with all other injections? 🤪

EvaA17 · 16/05/2024 18:35

@Hollielouise I've watched the CVS health video on YouTube on administering fyremadel and I thought I had it all understood and now I'm confused haha

Hollielouise · 16/05/2024 18:50

EvaA17 · 16/05/2024 18:35

@Hollielouise I've watched the CVS health video on YouTube on administering fyremadel and I thought I had it all understood and now I'm confused haha

Oh no I didn't mean to confuse! Ignore! She basically said that when you put it in you pull up a tiny bit to check there is no blood and you haven't put it in a vein before then pushing down. But I've never heard that from anyone else either and assume it's fairly obvious where veins are so she did really confuse me too.
I'd say go with the video and ignore 🫠 I'm going to watch the video and hopefully it will be more straightforward than she made out 🤦🏼‍♀️

HopefulllHolly · 16/05/2024 19:26

@Hollielouise Haha I did not realise it had to be so technical. I just shoved them anywhere! 🤣🤣🤣

Hollielouise · 16/05/2024 20:03

@HopefulllHolly so reassuring to hear! It can't be that hard surely - I was baffled with her explanation 😅. Did you do it in your thigh?

HopefulllHolly · 16/05/2024 20:17

Yeah at the top of my thigh, not the same drug but does the same thing @Hollielouise

EvaA17 · 16/05/2024 21:03

@Hollielouise haha not to worry! Now you've explained it I get what the nurse was saying but I've just been injecting in a different spot every evening and hoping for the best. Will be doing the same with fyremadel tomorrow morning lol. 😂
I've been told to do my abdomen for this too but will ask them again when I go for my scan tomorrow! Fingers crossed it goes well for us tomorrow morning and the scans too!

Also, hope the video helps! Xx

SS2022 · 16/05/2024 21:07

@HopefulllHolly congratulations!! Fingers crossed for you! Did you have a fresh transfer? Was there any particular reason for that? My doctors have told me to get my embryo PGTA tested as I am 40+

@Ashleighlouise I could see that line too! Fingers crossed for you !

so happy to see that some of you have BFP. I was away from the thread for a bit as my 3rd cycle failed and my
embryo did not make it to blastocyst.

@HopefulllHolly it all starts with and egg drives you crazy. I have been taking everything from that book ubiqunol, NAC and what not before my 3rd cycle for 2+ months but it didn’t make any difference this time! How did Impryl help your hubby? My husband has low morphology and has been using Folandrol but I don’t think it made massive difference.

I am now changing my clinic cause of the negligence and not being detailed about my case. Most likely going to Spain. It’s all too much to take in!

@CreamLampshade i think a glass of wine should be ok :) it would help you to destress! Fingers crossed for you too!

Ashleighlouise · 16/05/2024 21:16

@SS2022 thank you! The test was negative this morning and honestly I don't think I'm pregnant obviously will give it a few days as you "never know" but just have that gut feeling that I'm not pregnant.

I'm so sorry to hear this cycle has failed 😣 honestly the hardest thing I've ever had to do so to think you've done this 3 times is honestly admirable, you're such a strong women and your time will come! Have you done any research about clinics abroad? I always see such positive stories about clinics in Spain etc hope you're ok 🤍🤍

SS2022 · 16/05/2024 21:28

@Ashleighlouise I hope you are ok x.
I know it’s so so tough. Do you have more embryos? Have you read about embryo banking? I would suggest to collect as many embryos as possible as that was the mistake I did ! I waited too long for my 3rd cycle. Having more number of embryos first and then going for transfers is much more easier especially for people of my age. If age is on your side then probably you don’t have to worry.

I am alright, haven’t been great lately. It’s such a roller coaster to be honest. Trying to be brave but I am not. I want to try one last time and do every possible thing that I can but after this I am done as it has impacted me a lot mentally and physically.

I am going to this clinic called Instituto Bernabeau in Spain as they have a unit that specialises in low ovarian reserve. I am not being too hopeful this time.

I'm doing ok - this has been such a stressful time for me, I've been given a sick note from the doctor for work as honestly I've just worried myself sick for the past 6 weeks (probably part of the reason why it maybe hasn't worked) in hindsight I wish I had a break before transfer. We have 4 more embryos frozen, which I feel very grateful for but right now it feels SO DAUNTING even thinking about going through a FET 😮‍💨😮‍💨 I'm only 30.. 31 on Saturday 🤣 so I know I have time and hopefully being young is in my favour but mentally I haven't dealt with it all very well.

I can totally relate, I'm sorry you have to go through all this 😔 I wish it was easier for us. I have already decided there's no way I am doing another full cycle again - I know I am lucky to have 4 embryos but if none of them work that's it for me!

That's great that you have a final plan - knowing you've done everything you can! I really hope this new clinic can work its magic for you 🤍🤍🤍

Hey guys,

I had my EC today. 4 follicles, 1 empty, 1 immature and 2 decent ones. I’m waiting for my call tomorrow to see if any of the 2 have fertilised. I’m 35 since march, AMH 4, AFC 4 at my scans which didn’t change the entire time I was stimming. I was on max dose of Bemfola in the evenings, Leuprolide in the morning. Meriofert was added later on before 2 Ovitrelle triggers on 14/5 at 22:30 and EC 16/5 at 10:30 ish. I was disappointed to say the least. Anyone in the same boat? I’m shit scared of the call tomorrow and I can’t stop fixating if all of this right now. I just feel extremely sad, exhausted and just really scared.

HopefulllHolly · 16/05/2024 21:47

@SS2022 Sorry to hear your cycle didn’t work, it really is a lottery at times. Sending you positivity for your next cycle.

I had a fresh cycle as it was our first round and and we only got one embryo from it, but so far it’s worked. Little miracle embryo. We didn’t PGTA test as we only had 2 eggs fertilise from the 3 collected (1 wasn’t mature), so there was really no point. It either worked or it didn’t and we wouldn’t know unless we tried.

My other half has poor motility (18%) and morphology (1%) and impryl improved both quite drastically in 3 months of taking it. We also take CoQ10 and vitamin D and I use Wild Nutrition fertility tablets. Everything else I ignore from it starts with an egg, I don’t use many plastics anyway but am mindful with them. It’s honestly a minefield trying to pin point what works or doesn’t, I think as long as you are taking care of yourself physically and mentally that’s all you can do, otherwise you’ll just be miserable. IVF is hard enough!

I don’t even want to say too much about it working because we have a long 8 weeks ahead of us, so taking it day by day as we have done throughout all of this. 🥹 but thank you for the lovely wishes.

Hi @PurpleRayne89, sorry you’re feeling so terrible :( It’s a lot to go through isn’t it. And waiting for the call is so hard. I know easier said than done but might be worth reminding yourself there doesn’t seem to rhyme or reason to any of this, and there are many cases where people with really low numbers of eggs have better quality ones. I started with 17 follicles, got 10 eggs but in the end had two very early (so probably unsuccessful) blastocysts to transfer. I test tomorrow and am pretty sure they’ve not worked; and I’m that was my one chance at ivf (on the nhs) gone. So having bigger numbers to start with doesn’t necessarily mean lots of embryos. Hopefully yours fertilise and are strong ones. I am crossing everything for you!

HopefulllHolly · 16/05/2024 21:52

Welcome @PurpleRayne89 ☺️ nice to have you join us. I mentioned on your thread there are a couple of us here with lower egg numbers - I think it’s me, @AnnieStar12 and @wishfulbean but I think there’s a couple more.

It’s really hard when you have low egg numbers, but like I said, lots of people have success, and it really is quality over quantity. I read lots of threads online about women in the same boat as us, and there were tonnes with babies from IVF. Before my call I didn’t sleep and cried when she told me from relief, so I know exactly how you’re feeling. They usually ring you early so if you can try and get some rest you’ll have an answer soon. Be strong and hopeful, we’ll all keep our fingers crossed you have good news in the morning ☺️

AnnieStar12 · 16/05/2024 21:52

@PurpleRayne89congrats on getting through this far! Not sure how much of this thread you’ve read but you’ll see that @HopefulllHolly has got a BFP with only three eggs retrieved and I believe only two were mature enough so she’s here giving all us low AMH people hope!

i’m in for egg collection tomorrow morning and am only expecting 2 eggs as there’s only two follicles large enough (+ 3 smaller ones) and even then there’s no guarantee I’ll even get 2 as they could be empty or whatever. I also have very low AMH like you, and this is my second round so I know how nerve wracking those waits are to find out how the eggs are doing. We’re all here in the same boat so feel free to splurge all your feelings out here!! Let us know what tomorrow brings.

@CreamLampshade @HopefulllHolly @AnnieStar12 Thank you so much ladies, I do wish you all the very best. I appreciate the kind words. What time do you think they’ll call me?

@HopefulllHolly thanks for referring me to this thread. X

Clairehbear · 16/05/2024 23:06

I have my first tracking scan tomorrow and I’m so nervous. With my very low AMH I’m just so nervous that there won’t be anything. But I’m trying to stay positive. I started Cetrotide tonight as well and it was so stingy!! Way worse than the Gonal F.

All the things we have to go through but hopefully it’s going to be so worth it for all of us!

PurpleRayne89 · 16/05/2024 23:15

@Clairehbear Hey, what is your age and AMH? I definitely thing there will be something to report on ☺️

CreamLampshade · 16/05/2024 23:39

Hi all. Quick q - my test day it tomorrow but don’t want to do it in the morn before DH goes to work as I don’t want him to disappear shortly after! Can I wait till later in the day (say 5pm) and test then? Or is morning better? It’ll be 11 days past the transfer. Thanks!
