FET February 2024

Hi, just thought I'd see if there was anyone else doing a FET cycle in February that is looking for a cycle buddy?

I'm due to start meds at the end of this month, hopefully with transfer mid Feb. This will be my first donor embryo cycle after final attempts with my own eggs failed last year.

I'm so sorry @beibikeiks and @MrsWindrush , sending you both lots of love. I hope you can take some time for yourselves and to process everything. It's such a shitty journey...

beachbum85 · 09/02/2024 09:50

@seekingbabyk glad you're feeling better! Hope it stays that way with the progesterone 🤞🏼

kirstysmbc · 09/02/2024 11:48

@beachbum85 glad you got good news about the transfer. And what a lovely way for your husband to spend his birthday!

@seekingbabyk Good luck on the progesterone, fingers crossed for not too many side-effects.

I've just been for my lining scan, and it's just over 10mm, which is the thickest I've had for an FET. I have to have a progesterone blood test too before they agree a transfer date, and won't get the results of that until tomorrow or Sunday, but fingers crossed I'll be okay to book in transfer soon.

Thank you all ✨️

@beibikeiks I'm sorry. It cannot have been easy today. I hope you can find a new clinic located near you . @MrsWindrush I'm sorry. I hope you are able to go back to back with the FET if that is what you choose to do.
@kirstysmbc @seekingbabyk @IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday @muddlingthrou once again sending you all positive vibes ✨️ and I hope transfers go well. Sounds like everyone is making good progress (despite side effects).

Treat and look after yourselves over the weekend ✨️

Lindyloolou · 09/02/2024 18:30

@beibikeiks @MrsWindrush Im sorry to hear your news. Such a tough gig this but I have everything crossed for your future cycles. Be kind to yourselves xxx

Staryskylark · 09/02/2024 18:51

Just thought I’d say hello, it’s been lovely to read all your messages and does make me feel less lonely that there are others who have had the same experiences.

I am due to have my FET transfer on Tuesday.. it’ll be our fifth attempt.

I have had 1 successful and have a beautiful DD, 1 chemical and two that didn’t work.. this will probably be our last attempt although we will have 3 left..

Its a hard journey and I admire everyone for their strength and courage..

seekingbabyk · 09/02/2024 20:44

@Staryskylark welcome and good luck for Tuesday!

@beachbum85 @kirstysmbc aww thank you both. Feel ok today just tired and cried over melting some butter accidentally tonight so I'm guessing that's the progesterone kicking in! In my defence i forgot about it next to a radiator and it formed an oily puddle on the floor but definitely not something I'd normally get that upset over 😂

kirstysmbc · 09/02/2024 22:17

Welcome @Staryskylark. Sorry to hear of all your unsuccessful cycles, but fingers crossed this is your second lucky one. Good luck for Tuesday.

I've had my transfer confirmed for Friday, so been frantically booking all my travel. Quite looking forward to it, a few days in Coimbra and a few days in Lisbon. If nothing else, I'll get a nice holiday 😊

Can I join the thread as well please :)

Age 36, first FET cycle. Excited and exhausted , now more on the exhausted side :)

If everything goes by plan, the ET will be on 20th Feb.

My clinic does medicated cycle & long protocol. So using more drugs than my EC cycle.

beibikeiks · 10/02/2024 15:46

Thank you all ♥️
We have decided to reach out to a clinic where we live now and go on a waiting list for a consultation. This is probably going to take a lot of time and I don't feel like time is on my side 😩 We'll see.

I really hope you'll have loads more BFP's in this thread! Good luck ♥️🤞♥️

Staryskylark · 10/02/2024 18:56

@beibikeiks Are you in the Uk? I didn’t realise that some clinics have waiting lists..

seekingbabyk · 10/02/2024 20:59

Oh lucky you @kirstysmbc we have booked a night near the clinic the night before too - think it will be nice to go in chilled and relaxed! Did you have your EC in Portugal too?

Welcome @biscuitsndtea - yes the long cycle seems quite hard going according to another thread I'm on. It'll all be worth it if it works for you 🤞🏻 I'm exhausted from progesterone too ☹️

kirstysmbc · 10/02/2024 21:13

@seekingbabyk No, I'm doing a donor embryo transfer. My last attempts at own egg IVF failed last test, and at 43 I couldn't justify the cost of another round when the chances of success are so slim. I start my progesterone tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to the side effects 😞

@biscuitsndtea welcome! Long protocol is really tough, I have only done it for egg collection, I hope it passes quickly for you.

@beibikeiks I hope you don't have too long a wait. As a private customer it is much quicker than via nhs, but some clinics still have months of waiting for an initial consultation. Do you have a lot of choice near you?

OP posts:
seekingbabyk · 10/02/2024 21:18

@kirstysmbc yes completely understand that. If this FET doesn't work I'm thinking about possibly going abroad. Have you been over to Portugal yet or do they have a clinic here too?

kirstysmbc · 10/02/2024 21:32

@seekingbabyk No, everything has been done remotely with the clinic. I've had to do scans and bloods privately here, but still cheaper than doing it in the UK for me. I've got everything crossed you won't ever need to try!

OP posts:
beibikeiks · 10/02/2024 21:49

@kirstysmbc @Staryskylark
No I'm not in the UK (I'm in Sweden but had my previous rounds in Iceland)

These are all private clinics but it usually takes a few weeks to get an appointment. And then there might be a waiting list to start treatment. I'm hoping we won't have to wait too long 😩

Staryskylark · 10/02/2024 22:00

@beibikeiks Oh I see, fingers crossed for you. Hope you don’t have to wait too long.

I find it amazing how every clinic works differently but if everyone ends up with a bfp it doesn’t matter..

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 11/02/2024 12:22

@beachbum85 thanks so much for sharing your experience, it does help to know it isn't just us who've had a huge drop off after day 3 but I'm so very sorry you had the upset too. More importantly though, wishing you lots of luck for today's transfer!

@beibikeiks I'm so sorry it hasn't worked out for you this time. I hope you're taking all the time and space you need to come to terms with it.

Same for you @MrsWindrush , a few glasses of wine and time to process before you plan next steps sounds like a good plan.

We've had a few nights away with friends (who know we are having fertility issues but don't know we've just done a transfer) and it has been great to have a distraction tbh!

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 11/02/2024 12:37

@Staryskylark hello and good luck with Tuesdays transfer. Sorry you've had some tough outcomes but lovely to hear you have had one success, hopefully this round goes well too

@kirstysmbc yay glad you're all booked in. Lovely that you can combine with a holiday too, Lisbon is such a good city to explore.

@biscuitsndtea hi and welcome. Hope you're feeling okay on all the drugs, hopefully first time works a charm for you

@seekingbabyk aww sounds tough if the progesterone is really affecting your emotions. Other than slowing down my digestive system it hadn't impacted me too much I don't think, funny how we all react differently. Hope you're being really kind to yourself about getting upset easily, it will all be worth it in the end

SkyLab8 · 11/02/2024 13:16

@beachbum85
All the best with the transfer today ✨️

Lindyloolou · 11/02/2024 15:13

So I had been feeling like AF was about to arrive (dull aches) 7&8dp5dt, sore throat, insomnia (this is my big telling sign for all pgs), hungover-like. I tested today (9dp5dt) and it’s a BFP. I’m obviously delighted, but for me and our personal journey, our issue is actually recurrent MCs (x6 natural conception) so we have a long way to go yet. I’m on steroids, lubion, blood thinner (inhixa), Methyl folate - I was recommend this as it’s raw form of folic which I’m more likely to absorb). This is my second cycle of PGS-tested embryos - of which, both cycles I had just the one surviving embryo to transfer out of 5. First round… I welcomed my DD. And I’m praying this time will result in a sibling. Goes to show it does only take one! If it doesn’t work out then we will be hanging up our fighting gloves.

I wasn’t sure whether to post but I gathered that this may give hope to those who are on this feed. Like I said, we have a long way to go yet but I’ve learnt in this god awful game that we have to take all the positives along the way when we’re lucky enough to have them.

Good luck to everyone going through this. Absolute warriors x

seekingbabyk · 11/02/2024 15:20

@kirstysmbc awww thank you! Same for you too 🥰

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday yes definitely it will all be worth it if it works! Yes just taking one day at a time and hopefully hormones will even out a bit. I haven't had any physical side effects really. Had one day feeling tired but feel fine today but then I got almost 10 hours sleep last night so maybe they are affecting me!

@beachbum85 hope your transfer went ok and keeping everything crossed for you!

@Lindyloolouwow congratulations on your BFP that's amazing news! Keeping everything crossed for you too!

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 11/02/2024 18:40

@Lindyloolou amazing news, congratulations! Sorry to hear you've suffered so many MCs though, that must be really tough. I hope the drugs all help this little one to stick around and I hope the inevitable worry and anxiety isn't too difficult for you to navigate. I know everyone feels differently, and I might even feel different if our road becomes much longer and harder, but I am always so happy to hear good news stories from those with fertility issues. I'm sure we must all be biased here, but when someone conceives against all the odds it feels extra-special vs. a very easy natural conception!

Lindyloolou · 11/02/2024 21:54

Thanks for your kind words @IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday I have everything crossed for you and everyone else on this journey. X

kirstysmbc · 11/02/2024 22:00

@Lindyloolou Congratulations! I'm sorry you've had so many miscarriages in the past, it really does take the joy away from the early stages of pregnancy. I have everything crossed that all the extra meds will help you this time around. I'm on a similar cocktail, minus the steroids, so hopefully they will help us both.

@beachbum85 I hope all went well with transfer today and I hope you have as calm a 2ww as possible.

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday Thanks! I've never been to Lisbon before, so really looking forward to it. Feel free to share any tips!! How are you doing? How long now until otd?
