FET February 2024

Hi, just thought I'd see if there was anyone else doing a FET cycle in February that is looking for a cycle buddy?

I'm due to start meds at the end of this month, hopefully with transfer mid Feb. This will be my first donor embryo cycle after final attempts with my own eggs failed last year.

@Lindyloolou I've also had insomnia after every positive test! I thought it was just anxiety, but then I didn't get it after my failed implantation, so maybe it's a good indicator after all!

Huge congratulations @Lindyloolou and thanks for sharing! I'm always more than happy to see BFPs here 😊 I'm sorry to hear about your previous losses, but I really hope this round follows the cycle that gave you your daughter ✨

Thank you so much @IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday @SkyLab8 @seekingbabyk @kirstysmbc
Transfer went well! It was a lot more uncomfortable than I remembered (mainly because my bladder was too full and I couldn't relax because I thought I was going to pee on the doctor!), but the embryo thawed successfully and it's in there now, which is the most important thing. So far, I'm pretty calm really but let's see how long that lasts... I've never been an early tested but I'm already thinking about next Sunday 😅 and hoping for insomnia is the meantime haha

@kirstysmbc my partner kind of threw me this morning when he said he would have rather transferred any day but his birthday! It was really about logistics with childcare and so on as the morning was quite a faff - in the end he said he was really glad he could come this time, and I was definitely glad to have him with me. They didn't show us the screen this time though, or anything like that, as they had last time round.
Great to hear you've got everything sorted for Friday, and about your lining - 10mm is excellent! Sounds like a lovely holiday too... definitely the right mindset going into the transfer 🤩

@seekingbabyk I've been super emotional since starting progesterone too 😅made a whole scene on Friday because it was one of the nursery teachers' last day... made her cry and the kids too 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hi @Staryskylark congrats on your daughter and sorry for your tough journey so far. Good luck for Tuesday.

Hi @biscuitsndtea ! Long protocol is tough (did that with our fresh cycle) so I can definitely understand the exhaustion... but hang in there, the 20th is not far off now 💪🏼

@beibikeiks I hope the waiting time isn't as bad as it seems... Fingers crossed that you can get going again soon 🤞🏼

I hope everyone is well, and send my best wishes to anyone I might have missed who is going into scans, transfers, tests these days.

beachbum85 · 12/02/2024 00:12

@Kfish56 I've been thinking about you today - sending you huge hugs no matter what your tests said xxx

Kfish56 · 12/02/2024 07:32

@beachbum85 thank you. BFN as expected xx

beachbum85 · 12/02/2024 10:04

I'm so sorry @Kfish56 - it's always such a blow, expected or not. Take care of yourself xxx

seekingbabyk · 12/02/2024 10:56

Oh I'm sorry @Kfish56 - sending you lots of hugs 🥰

@beachbum85 oh I'm glad it's not just me then! Congratulations on being PUPO - my last one was painful too actually I remember being glad it was over. I think it didn't help it was a fresh transfer too so was probably still a bit sore down there. Hopefully it'll be worth it for you x

kirstysmbc · 12/02/2024 11:06

@Kfish56 I'm so sorry, it's always such a horrible thing to go through, even if you are expecting it. I hope you can take some time today to take care of yourself.

@beachbum85 Congrats on being PUPO! I have been there with a too full bladder, it is not fun!! They told me I could empty it a bit, but I was worried I'd go too far! Glad your partner could be there too. Fingers crossed for a relatively calm 2ww - do you have much planned?

Hi all,
Sorry to jump in randomly! Please can someone let me know the process for a FET? I have just had my 4th stims scan and feeling very grateful I have a high number of follicles but at risk of OHSS so it's going to be a freeze all. Will I need to do more injections before doing a FET and does anyone know how long I will have to wait after egg collection before I can start the process?
Thank you x

muddlingthrou · 12/02/2024 17:09

@waitingforourmiracle - I'll let someone more knowledgeable than me respond as I've never had a freeze all then transfer.

My transfer is now confirmed for the 20th (assuming embryo survives the thawing process 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽). Start the evil progesterone on Thursday, ugh... anyone else transferring next week? Wishing lots of luck to all x

beachbum85 · 12/02/2024 17:11

Thank you @kirstysmbc and @seekingbabyk ! Yeah I was definitely glad it was over and hoping not to have to do that again any time soon 🤞🏼
I'll be travelling back home a coupleof days before OTD and watching a show on the weekend, which I'm really looking forward to, and apart from that just lots to do at work, which should keep me well distracted!

@muddlingthrou so exciting to have a date! Less exciting to start progesterone, but then you know you're almost there 😉 very best of luck!

@waitingforourmiracle I've never had to do a frozen transfer after egg collection, but I just had a natural cycle FET. No injections with that, just a scan around CD10 to check lining and lead follicle (and repeat until lining is over 8mm and follicle at 14mm), ovulation tests at home, and then progesterone pessaries and transfer 6 days later. It could also be a medicated cycle with a short or long protocol though, so it really just depends on your situation and the clinic.

Staryskylark · 12/02/2024 17:25

@waitingforourmiracle

There are a few different ways, I have had five FETs. 1 long cycle with quite a few injections and 4 short cycles. The one I am doing now only involved 6 injections, tablets and pessaries.

In my clinic you have a baseline scan, then start tablets and injections on day 2 of your bleed for 6 days. The tablets continue throughout, I have a scan to check the lining, then given a date for pessaries and then a date for transfer..

Not sure on the wait time, I only had one egg collection but have severe OHSS and ended up in hospital so had to wait a while until I was ready.

seekingbabyk · 12/02/2024 17:40

@muddlingthrou yay that's exciting to have a date! The progesterone hasn't been too bad for me so you might be ok. And definitely got easier after a few days too.

@beachbum85 awww that's lovely to have some stuff planned in - hopefully it will fly past!

@waitingforourmiracle this is my first FET - I did a freeze all too just so I could do another round first. This round I have been on progynova (oestrogen tablets) and aspirin from CD3, and then cyclogest progesterone pessaries from CD10 or so for 6 days. I think that's quite normal if you are in the "unexplained infertility" camp but every clinic is different. I think at my clinic they want you to have one normal cycle before starting again so if you do EC this week, and then start bleeding in two weeks, you would then need the end of March cycle out of the way and start end of April for FET cycle. Having said that I did a fresh one on that round so maybe the March cycle would be fine? I'm sure your nurses would be able to answer this too. Best of luck with your retrieval :)

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 12/02/2024 18:32

@kirstysmbc I'm okay thanks, OTD is Friday at 13dpt5dt but were testing on Wednesday hopefully we'll get an accurate result by then! No idea what to think, I think most of my symptoms are down to the drugs so really can't say. I've definitely not had insomnia, I've actually felt a bit more tired than normal!

Most of my Lisbon recommendations are based around cocktails which won't be any good for you 🤣 but if you're up to a train ride out to Belem, the pastel de nata are worth the trip and its a pretty place to look around. Time Out market was good for food when we were there. Seafood in Lisbon is amazing but again might not be something you choose to have after transfer!

@Kfish56 I'm so sorry, I hope you're doing okay.

@beachbum85 oh no, that doesn't sound fun! By some miracle I got my bladder pretty spot on but I can imagine it must be awful if you overshoot! So pleased your partner got to be there, although it's a shame they didn't show the screen as its quite cool seeing the little flash!

@waitingforourmiracle I had a freeze all due to OHSS risk (I knew that before we started, I guess you might be feeling a bit disappointed the delay but honestly if you do have OHSS symptoms you will be really glad you aren't throwing a potential pregnancy into the mix to prolong the discomfort!) Congratulations on lots of follicles though, that's fab news. I just had to wait for my second bleed after the collection (the first came along within a week of collection for me) and then that cycle was transfer cycle. For me, I just had estrogen patches from the start of the cycle (then tablets added in as my lining wasn't thickening enough), then kept those up along with progesterone pessaries twice a day once lining was over 8mm. I think some protocols can be a bit longer though, and different types of estrogen and progesterone medications can be used, so I'd definitely ask your clinic for details of their preferred routine. I don't know if it will be the same with you, but the fertilised eggs were frozen the day after collection so that did mean on our transfer cycle we had five days of seeing how they would progress after thawing which is quite a hard wait! However it works out, I really hope all goes well and stock up on lucozade sport, salt and protein for post collection to minimise the OHSS

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 12/02/2024 18:36

@muddlingthrou Congratulations on setting a date for transfer! I hope the progesterone isn't too bad for you. I am quite fortunate that it doesn't seem to affect me too much (mainly just slow digestive system) so I hope you're lucky enough to not be hit too badly with the side effects.

waitingforourmiracle · 13/02/2024 11:29

@beachbum85 @Staryskylark @seekingbabyk @IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday thank you all so much for your replies!

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday ooh that is interesting!! I just presumed they would make the embryos straight away and then freeze!! I'll ask the clinic about that at my scan tomorrow!

Good luck everyone with your FETs. Baby dust to all of you ⭐

beachbum85 · 13/02/2024 15:44

@Staryskylark I hope all went smoothly with your transfer today!

Best of luck with your transfer tomorrow @seekingbabyk and with your test @IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday - I'll be thinking of both of you!

This morning I remembered I had a symptom log from our successful round and now i can't help but compare, although I don't really feel anything but an achey belly at times 🤷🏻‍♀️ and I definitely know it's silly to symptom spot, especially so early 🤦🏻‍♀️I think it's going to be a long 10 days 😅

Staryskylark · 13/02/2024 15:55

Thank you @beachbum85 Currently on the sofa, keeping my warm feet.

Sending lots of baby dust your way. Does you clinic for bloods or is it a home test?

beachbum85 · 13/02/2024 15:56

Thank you @Staryskylark and sending lots of baby dust right back at you, too! Glad it's happened and you're resting now 😊

It's just a home test for us at 12dp5dt... what about you?

Staryskylark · 13/02/2024 16:13

Thank you..

And it’s the same for us, the bit I dread the most, I hate turning over that test so wish mine was a blood test. Hope you are relaxing and enjoying being PUPO.

Also, Hope the transfer goes well @seekingbabyk and for your test @IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday also sending lots of baby dust your way.

GCS34 · 13/02/2024 18:07

Hey all. Do you mind if I join in? I'm currently on my 3rd FET having had my first end in a MMC at 9 weeks, a failed, and now onto lucky number 3.

@kirstysmbc I know already, but I was hoping to join in with you all.

Currently 8DP5DT with OTD Sunday. Feeling a strange sense of calm. Perhaps it's because this is all so familiar now that you just think this is the game... 3 weeks of HRT, transfer, TWW, Test, Period, go again.

Good luck to those testing this week. 🤗Anyone else OTD sunday?

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 13/02/2024 19:54

@Staryskylark hope you're feeling okay post transfer.

@seekingbabyk best of luck for tomorrow!

Hi @GCS34 , sorry to hear you've had 2 sad outcomes but crossing fingers for you that this time things work out.

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday thanks ☺️ and yeah it is a bit shit but I am trying to remain positive and level headed and just have to keep rolling with the punches. I have another 2 on ice after this third that’s on board now — might not be so positive when they’re up mind you!

where are you in your journey? The post is quite long and I’m struggling to piece who’s journeys who’s and where they currently are in their FET cycle.

seekingbabyk · 13/02/2024 23:59

Thanks everyone 🥰

kirstysmbc · 14/02/2024 06:38

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday Fingers crossed for a positive result for you today!!

@Staryskylark Congrats on being PUPO, glad transfer went ok and I hope you have a calm (ish!) 2ww!

@seekingbabyk good luck today, hope everything goes smoothly.

@beachbum85 Great to have lots planned in to keep you busy. Hopefully time we'll fly by and you'll be getting a positive test before too long.

@GCS34 lovely to hear from you again! Really hoping this is your lucky cycle. Not long to go until test day, got everything crossed for you.

I'm flying out tomorrow after work with transfer on Friday afternoon, and my daughter has brought home an awful cold from nursery this week. Starting to feel really rough, great timing! I really hope it doesn't affect my chances...

@kirstysmbc are you travelling abroad for your transfer? Did I read Lisbon? So pleased you decided to go again after the October cycle. Really hoping this is the one.

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday good luck today! Mind me asking your journey thru far? Obvs when you’ve tested and sunk in 😅

and thanks @kirstysmbc i had a vivid progesterone dream last night of a veryyyyyy negative test and it crushed me. So I’m hoping a) that’s the negative test out the way now and b) if not, I have already had it once so won’t be as bad Sunday 😂 albeit in a dream but yano
