FET February 2024

Hi, just thought I'd see if there was anyone else doing a FET cycle in February that is looking for a cycle buddy?

I'm due to start meds at the end of this month, hopefully with transfer mid Feb. This will be my first donor embryo cycle after final attempts with my own eggs failed last year.

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday I feel the same about testing, as in I kind of just want to be oblivious and keep being PUPO 😅 I've tested negative SO many times over our 7 year infertility journey and I'm really dreading the possibility of feeling like that again.

I'm not an "early tester" (like I've seen some start at 7DPO) but I do want to test before my OTD which is the 16th. Mainly because I should start my period soon and I'm not on any medication, so there's nothing stopping my period arriving if this didn't work. And I sort of want to test and be prepared before AF shows up to ruin everything 😩

I'm also very sorry about your embryos Such difficult news 💔

Lindyloolou · 07/02/2024 18:36

@MrsWindrush definitely don’t give up just yet. In answer to your question… if you were to have a BFN then in my experience, period comes after stopping progesterone. But some people naturally have theirs too. You can expect a delay though… I mean, I so hope you do have a very long delay for good reason (fingers crossed for a BFP!)

For early testers, my last FET I did a test 8dp5dt and got nothing… 9dp5dt a faint positive and then darker and darker from then on in. But honestly, HCG levels vary from pregnancy to pregnancy and person to person… hope it gives some some hope!

This is my second PGStested FET (yet again just 1 healthy embryo out of 5 that got to day 5) and I know I shouldn’t compare but I literally feel nothing so I too feel like I’m out but there’s always that little ‘what if’ niggle eh?! I’m going to test 9dp5dt instead of 13 days they recommended. This will be Sunday. Gives me Monday to process before ‘normal life’ at work commences.

Thank you @Lindyloolou - that's really helpful and also reassuring. Here's hoping that both of us have nice BFPs by the weekend.

Kfish56 · 07/02/2024 20:47

@Lindyloolou im also testing on Sunday. Although I’m so sure it hasn’t worked as I’ve had the most intense period pains all day today and the usual cm I get before af
xxx

Lindyloolou · 07/02/2024 20:49

I had dull period like aches and lots of CM around this time with my successful FET so I’d see this as (hopefully) a good sign @Kfish56 Everything crossed for you - don’t give up hope just yet x

Kfish56 · 07/02/2024 20:55

@Lindyloolou thank you so much for the glimpse of hope but I really think it’s just af. I don’t have lots of cm I just have the dry tacky cm (in small quantities) that I get every month at this point in my cycle xxx

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 08/02/2024 12:21

@Lindyloolou @Kfish56 keeping my fingers crossed for positive news for you both on Sunday. @MrsWindrush I really hope you get some soon too as well.

@beibikeiks so are you not on any progesterone or estrogen? I'm dosed up on both so assuming I won't start a period before I come off them (although am carrying supplies with me just in case!) Thank you for your kind words as well, I know I am much earlier in my infertility journey than most of you and I'm so sorry you've all been through this too, it really does suck and I don't think anything could prepare someone for the emotional toll 😢 have you thought about an earlier testing date that fits best with your schedule? The 14th works for us as we both work from home on Wednesdays so have plenty of privacy, plus my DH won't be there on the morning of the 16th and whatever the outcome I wanted us to do it together

beibikeiks · 08/02/2024 13:45

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday
No I'm not on any medication, this was a natural FET cycle (it's what my clinic prefers unless there are any known problems, then they'd do a medicated cycle)

I've been feeling all kinds of symptoms that I usually don't get before AF and that are similar to what I had before my BFP after a fresh transfer. But then again, you never know. It's all just a huge mind f* 😂🙈

It doesn't matter how long you've dealt with infertility ♥️ It's all HARD! And totally unfair for all of us.

But yeah, I really wanted to test tomorrow (at 6dp5dt) because it was my mother's birthday and she passed away last year 💔 But I would also not like to have double the grief, so I'm unsure.

SkyLab8 · 08/02/2024 14:54

Hi all,

I haven't checked in for a while. Changed username (long story).

Congratulations to all those who have had transfers and wishing all the best to those who have impending transfers.

How is everyone doing?

@beibikeiks I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your Mum.

beibikeiks · 08/02/2024 15:03

Thank you @SkyLab8 ♥️

How have you been? 😊
You are 7dp5dt today, right?
Have you decided when you are going to test?

kirstysmbc · 08/02/2024 15:12

@beibikeiks I'm so sorry to hear about your mum, that must have been really tough. It's a tough one, as it would be lovely to celebrate with a positive on such a special day, but hard to deal if you don't get the really you wanted.

6dp5dt is equivalent to 11dpo, and apparently 80% of people who are pregnant would know by then, ( www.countdowntopregnancy.com/pregnancy-test/dpo-chart.php?dpo=11), but that still leaves 20% that wouldn't be showing yet... Your symptoms sound like a good sign!

@SkyLab8 I hope you're surviving the 2ww ok! How long until otd?

Thank you @kirstysmbc ♥️
That's exactly what I was thinking. I'll probably not know until I wake up tomorrow whether I'll test or not 😅

I tested at 9dp3dt last time and there was a pretty clear line. That would mean Saturday for me now, so only 1 day difference. We'll see 🙈

SkyLab8 · 08/02/2024 16:05

@beibikeiks @kirstysmbc

So much for my big talk about waiting to test. I ended up testing at 5dpt, it was positive. Regardless of the eventual outcome it's good to know that the treatment worked and I'm thankful to have positive experience with a pregnancy test for once. God willing this will end up with the desired outcome but either way we have experienced some positives this week for us as a couple. As someone previously mentioned infertility is such a hard journey so I'm blessed to have a few wins on this marathon journey.

beibikeiks · 08/02/2024 16:16

Oh wow @SkyLab8 !!
That wonderful news ♥️
I'm so happy for you!

I know it's still early and all that, but this is a massive step ♥️ I wish you all the best 🤞

kirstysmbc · 08/02/2024 17:00

@SkyLab8 Congrats, what lovely news. I'm so happy for you both. Do your clinic ask for blood tests, or just a home test? Fingers crossed for a happy, healthy pregnancy.

And hopefully plenty more positives to come for this board.

MrsWindrush · 08/02/2024 17:33

Oh huge congrats @SkyLab8 - what brilliant news!

seekingbabyk · 08/02/2024 18:03

Awww congratulations @SkyLab8

muddlingthrou · 08/02/2024 19:51

@SkyLab8 - so wonderful to hear positive news. Massive congratulations and hope your luck rubs off on everyone on this thread (and continues for a healthy happy pregnancy!)

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 08/02/2024 20:12

@beibikeiks oh i didnt realise natural cycles didn't have use any drugs (I huess the clue was in the name though, silly me 🙈) Definitely a mind f* indeed!! I'm so sorry for the loss of your mum, I think your suggestion to wait and see how you feel tomorrow morning and go from there sounds good. Either way, I hope tomorrow has some happiness to bring alongside the grief 🩷

@SkyLab8 that is fantastic news, congratulations! Definitely treasure that moment of seeing the positive test and knowing you are on the right path. Sometimes it's really easy to think of the hurdles ahead, and goodness knows we must all be anxious about that when we know how hard we've had to work just to see a positive test, but it's great to let the joy drown out the worries 🩷

beachbum85 · 08/02/2024 23:47

Ohhhh I've missed a lot the last couple of days!

Huge congratulations @SkyLab8 ! So happy for you! Enjoy the natural high of the positive test, and fingers crossed that the positive news will continue 💪🏼

@beibikeiks I'm so sorry about your mum, and that you have to navigate the grief of her loss whilst going through all this. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, and very best of luck for whenever you decide to test, it's a really hard one, but your symptoms sound promising! 🤞🏼

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday A bit late in the day, but I wanted to say that I'm so, so sorry about your other embryos. We had nearly exactly the same situation on our first round (9 eggs, 8 on day 3 of which 6 were top, one early blast transferred on Day 5 and none to freeze), and I was shocked at the dropoff, and devastated really. I was also really worried about DNA fragmentation and we assumed my partner had that problem and implemented a bunch of the lifestyle changes the others have sopken about, with much better results the second time round! In any case, very, very best of luck with the one you've transferred and I think it's a great idea to test slightly earlier so you can be together - we'll be doing the same, I think.

@kirstysmbc sorry to hear about your headaches and digestive issues... Progesterone-like effects are brutal! I hope everything has settled down and tomorrow's scan goes well 🤞🏼

Glad to hear about your Valentine's day transfer @seekingbabyk! How are you feeling?

The clinic didn't get my first email, somehow, but eventually we had to go in for urgent virology bloods and they confirmed transfer on Sunday, my partner's birthday, so hopefully that's a good sign ✨ I'm on progesterone 3 times a day though, and I'm starting to feel the tummy effects...

@muddlingthrou I was also alone during the transfer that worked, so my partner and I said that he'd come if it was the weekend or a time he could easily take a couple of hours off, but I'd go alone otherwise. It felt very quick last time so I do think he might find it all a bit underwhelming, but I'll be glad to be squeezing his hand instead of the poor nurse who I must have driven crazy last time 😅

Best of luck for Sunday @Lindyloolou and @Kfish56 !

I'm sorry your first test was a BFN @MrsWindrush and I really hope you'll see a different result tomorrow! Keeping everything crossed for you! 🤞🏼

beibikeiks · 09/02/2024 08:36

Well, I'm actually out. This round didn't work for us unfortunately.

AF arrived this morning, so I took a test just to be sure (awful history of ectopics) and it was a BFN.

Not sure what will happen next tbh.
If we want to try again I would need to find a clinic over here and start over.

MrsWindrush · 09/02/2024 08:51

Oh @beibikeiks I'm sorry. It really is rubbish isn't it? We're also out too. Very much negative here. I think a large glass of red wine tonight and a bit of a regroup is needed before we go again.

Although I did wonder - has anyone ever done back-to-back FET cycles or is that not really a good idea?

kirstysmbc · 09/02/2024 08:56

@beibikeiks I'm so sorry. This journey really can be so horrid. I hope you and your partner are able to take some time today just to take care of each other. Decisions for the future can wait for another day, when you feel ready to take them. Sending love to you both

OP posts:
kirstysmbc · 09/02/2024 08:59

@MrsWindrush Oh no, so sorry this wasn't your cycle. A glass of wine is definitely a great idea today.

You rolls need to check with your clinic about your next cycle, but I think mine wanted a break in between, especially if you are doing medicated cycles. Great news that you have more embryos to try and hopefully the next cycle will be your lucky one.

seekingbabyk · 09/02/2024 09:00

@beachbum85 yes I'm feeling ok thanks but starting progesterone today so tomorrow may be different! That's exciting you have your transfer on Sunday!

@beibikeiks @MrsWindrush I'm so sorry to both of you. Yes both a glass of wine later and a regroup. It's so devastating seeing a negative and even more so after going through ivf and pumped full of hormones. I'm not sure about back to back transfers tbh but I don't see why they wouldn't
