Hi all, just heard back from my clinic and of the 6 eggs collected, 5 were mature and suitable for ICSI. I have been told that as of this morning 2 embryos have fertilised today (day 1). Does this mean the remaining 3 have no chance now? Given the stats are approx 80% fertilise, I was hoping to have 5 of the 6 eggs fertilise.

The stats are usually for the number of mature eggs, as many people will have immature eggs. My clinic expects two-thirds of mature eggs to fertilize, approx 80% of those make it to day 3, and up to 50% of those to Day 5. The biggest changes are Day 3 to 5, so I found that a really difficult wait. Many people fall outside of the stats though and it's so difficult to predict what'll happen next.

You can have slow-growing embryos on Day 3 that catch up on Day 5 or 6. Day 6 really turned things around for me. I had one that was only 4 cells on Day 3 and it made it to PGTA.

Good luck for your upcoming updates, I hope the wait goes in quickly.

I'm still suffering with OHSS. I'm glad i'm out of the hospital now, but the swelling has caused stretchmarks all over my tummy and I wasn't expecting that from IVF. I can't wait to get active and feel like myself again, it's hard to cope with poor results when it's also made you poorly.

180monkeys · 09/03/2024 11:26

@mt9m it sounds like you’ve had a really hard time with your OHSS it sounds really painful. That’s good you are out of hospital now. Are you still sore at home?

@Mymiraclebb how are you feeling today? Hopefully recovering ok! Did you get an update from your clinic about fertilisation?

Mymiraclebb · 09/03/2024 12:40

@ImHopeful looks after yourself and takes care of your mental health.

@180monkeys thanks, I actually recovered very well so fare. And today I am back to normal

i got an update this morning. Out of 7 only 3 has fertilise normally. We are planning to do day 3 transfer as my previous cycle on Monday. Hope it will work too.

ImHopeful · 09/03/2024 12:43

@Mymiraclebb thank you ❤️will do

3 is still a good numer, you just need 1 of them to stick. Best of luck for your transfer 🍀🤞, how long ago was your previous cycle?

180monkeys · 09/03/2024 13:26

@Mymiraclebb thats good you’re feeling good. As above it only takes 1 so 3 is still a good number! Fingers crossed this will be the lucky one for you. My transfer will be on Monday as well

Mymiraclebb · 09/03/2024 22:09

@ImHopeful @180monkeys thank you both. Yes it only takes one. Hopefully. My previous transfer was 2021
@180monkeys that is good. Are you doing dag 5?

180monkeys · 09/03/2024 22:26

@Mymiraclebb yes day 5 transfer for me. Did you only have one transfer in your previous round if you don’t mind me asking?

Mymiraclebb · 10/03/2024 08:35

@180monkeys i had 2 transfers but only one made it.

180monkeys · 10/03/2024 09:33

@Mymiraclebb sorry to hear about your unsuccessful transfer but that is brilliant that your other transfer worked!! I love hearing the success stories

Cloclo93 · 10/03/2024 10:24

Hi girls does anyone know if it's normal to get your period very early after failed ivf? I got as far as egg collection but none of my eggs fertilized so I didn't carry on taken progesterone, I just got my peroid today 7 days early ;(
Anyone have any experience in this? Ty

waitingforourmiracle · 10/03/2024 10:43

To all you strong amazing women who are dealing with something no one should have to deal with this Mother's Day, there's no easy days with your when struggling with infertility but there are particularly hard days and today is one of them. Your doing your best and your doing everything you can, I pray one day we can all celebrate Mother's Day with our children in our lives. Sending love today x

TT82 · 10/03/2024 11:01

@Cloclo93 hi, in my last 2 EC (all freeze as pgta), my period came day 7-9 after EC. Dr said it should come 7-10 days most likely. I wasn't on any hormones after EC. This time EC I also hope period will come day 7-8..

Mymiraclebb · 10/03/2024 11:29

Thank you @180monkeys my previous round I had 2 embryos transferred and had a single baby. I am trying to do the same again. But off course it will depend to the doctor and the quality of embryos.

Cloclo93 · 10/03/2024 11:33

Thanks @TT82 I was just a bit confused as my ivf doctor said to expect my peroid at my usual date around the 17th, I thought the clinic would be a bit more clued in with early period dates been an ivf clinic 😶

180monkeys · 10/03/2024 11:42

@Mymiraclebb sorry I had assumed two single transfers. That’s great that your first transfer worked then. Fingers crossed for same again this time. Have they indicated that they are happy for you to do a double transfer again?

Mymiraclebb · 11/03/2024 13:25

@180monkeys how are you and how was you transfer?

my clinic have reported my transfer to Wednesday which is day 5. Out of the 3, 2 are doing good and they don’t want to do double transfers as I am at risk of twins.

how everyone else doing ?

180monkeys · 11/03/2024 15:18

@Mymiraclebb just home from my transfer now. Went well and we had 5 to freeze!! They also said there’s another couple they are keeping an eye on until tomorrow so to ring in the morning to see if they can be frozen also.

that’s great yours are still doing good and your transfer is scheduled. Good luck!!

Sherr33 · 12/03/2024 10:19

Hi all I thought id update on my little journey. This was our first cycle on the NHS, thank goodness. I started with225 gonal f and ganirelix. on my scan they saw 18 follicles and I was booked in for my collection 26th of February. They managed to get 10 eggs. I started on progesterone the night of EC and the next day got the call to say 8 had fertilised. We had opted for zymot and embryo glu as extras which we paid for on the day of collection. Next I heard from them on Friday to say I was booked in for transfer for next day. I had no idea at this point how many had made it etc. Went in for transfer and I was told there's 5 in the freezer and one being transferred. Today was my blood test which I've just been for and this morning I also took a test and it was negative. I knew a few days ago that I was getting the pre period cramps and it hadn't worked. I feel like looking at the negative test made it better in a way as I now know the result. Im wishing everyone all the luck in the world for their transfers and tww. And any of us that have had our positives I hope one day we get an update about how long labour was 🤣
Those of us with negatives and feeling down and hopeless dont give up. Easier for me to say I guess knowing I have some frozen but honestly speaking I actually wanted to do another cycle and freeze as many as I could because with ivf nothing is completely guaranteed and I want to have more options etc but for now I will wait and see how long it takes my clinic to get me started to try for a FET. Maybe I'll win the lottery in the meantime 🙌 to help fund my dream.

Love to all x

Hi there - hope you don’t mind me jumping in.
i have just been told about embryo glue today…. I had two failed embryo transfers (one fresh and one frozen) and my consultant told me about this embryo glue only today for my final frozen transfer which I am planning in April. I wasn’t told about it before and I see you are going to be using the embryo glue too… I asked my constant (at care London) why I wasn’t told about it sooner and he said they wait till you have failed at least 2! Which is absolute madness and infuriating. Wondering how you discovered it as this is your first cycle ….honestly… these clinics

TT82 · 12/03/2024 17:15

Hi all, hope you are coping. @Sherr33 sorry for your negative, just hope next transfer sticks!

I only now got our results: 14 out 22 were mature, 12 fertilised, no update yet on day 3 (🙄), 4 blastocysts of ok quality biopsied: 3 5-day ones: 4AA, 6BB and 4AB; 1 of 6-day 4BB. Would anyone have a link to some explanation? I somehow cannot find. Or experience? I know in my case it is chromosome abnormalities are the issue....
I really hoped for more, so that low percentage can give is 1 normal but it is what it is.
So far we sent 4+2 from two EC, all abnormal.... so I really don't have any hope with 4.. But if 10 will be abnormal, I think that's it for us with my eggs

Sherr33 · 14/03/2024 17:37

👋
How is everyone thats still awaiting egg collection or in TWW doing? I cant remember how many of us were left?

I've got my telephone consultation on the 10th of April to hopefully discuss a potential start date for FET. Crossing everything that it works the second time for us. For now trying to get through this period! I feel like its much more heavier than usual and more intense cramps 😫

@Sherr33 I’m 3dp5dt and time is going very slowly!! lol.

that’s great you are booked in again. It always at least feels like something is happening when you have a date to work towards. Do you think you’ll be able to do your FET straight away or do you not know until the appointment? Hope you feel better soon!!

Sherr33 · 14/03/2024 20:02

@180monkeys I wont know untill the appointment on when I can start. Have you taken time off work or are you carrying on with normal routine? How have you found the whole process so far? I feel like I had a terrible start in terms of side effects of tablets and then from stims on wards its just gone so quickly.

I think we have all been an amazing bunch on here. I hope I have a lovely group when I start my FET to get me through it

@Sherr33 i got signed off for the full 3 weeks from just before egg collection to test day. I just felt like I really needed the time to relax and not have to worry about work as well. I didn’t want to tell work what it was either so it was easier just to take the time off since it’s hard to know until so close when collection and transfer will be. I actually think I’ve been very lucky so far, I found the injections a lot easier than expected and had pretty much no side effects except maybe being tired. After egg collection I was extremely sore but felt back to normal in a few days thankfully. Just hate the not knowing now! How did you find it all compared to your expectations?

this group has been really great, so good to talk to people going through the same thing!
