@Sherr33 I actually thought the birth control pills (Norethisterone and Pygronova) were worse than the injections. I had zero side effects when I did my first ivf cycle last month. I was on Meriofert & Fostimon. Only a bit of bloating towards the end but that’s just from multiple follicles growing.

waitingforourmiracle · 06/02/2024 10:21

@Sherr33 hopefully you won't get many side effects from gonal f, majority of the time I can't tell at all there's anything going on!

Fully agree!!! My AF arrived abd my hospital confirmed the ivf cycle...starting these "lovely" downregg pills from tomorrow 😒😒😒😒

Morning everyone, just catching up on all your news! Good luck to everyone having scans/procedures in the next couple of days.

I've had no side effects whilst taking the norethisterone (down reg) tablets but having finished them on Saturday I'm feeling weirdly hot and my eyes are bloodshot! Not sure what's going on there but hopefully will get my period and get on with gonal-f injections on Friday. I've started dreaming about the injections, very weird!

Sherr33 · 06/02/2024 13:36

@Bnichols89 ohh good luck cant believe its come around so fast. I start Gonal F, like you il be waiting on my period first , next week 15/02 eeek. Ive just got annoyed at my partner because hes ordered these sigma testosterone booster supplements and i just find it very hard to believe when i mentioned getting a general multi vitamin to help with quality of sperm it fell on deaf ears but now hes supplementing on something that could quite possibly affect fertility 🤦‍♀️😑

@TT82 what was your plan again? How long do you take the tablets for? I really hope you dont get the side effects but if you do we are here. Ive found it so helpful just to update on how im feeling

OP posts:
waitingforourmiracle · 06/02/2024 13:58

@Sherr33 oh that's annoying! Men don't think the same! My boyfriend has been t-total pretty much since October, minus a couple of nights out at Christmas then decided to go out on Sunday, I couldn't get my head around why he would decide to finally have a drink so close to the most crucial part! 🤔

@Bnichols89 good luck with your injections! They really aren't that bad 😊

TT82 · 06/02/2024 15:03

@Sherr33 I don't know yet the exact plan, but think will be similar to before. I have a dr scan and consultation next Tuesday. The injections start on the 22 February, downregg pill usually I stop 3 days before injections, so from tomorrow till 19-20 February 😩 Hopefully this time my body will behave

Sherr33 · 06/02/2024 15:06

@waitingforourmiracle sadly mines just too busy researching everything but this. And im pretty sure if it involved him more he would have done the research himself and expected me to do yhe same too!, i just think we are going for icsi for a reason then why not try and get thr best possible result 😑because frankly its easier in the sense you qrent pumping your body with all these meds or dealing with the side effects. Im still annoyed 😩😩

Morning! @Sherr33
I believe I am in a different time zone to you guys as it's only 5am here so I'm getting ready to go in 🤣
I took gonal F injections aswell as orgalutran.
The only side effects I got luckily were really sore boobs towards the end. After reading all the other side effects you can get from you guys I am considering myself very lucky!

The first time I did the orgalutran injection myself I pulled the needle cap off and somehow jabbed my own finger! Don't ask me how 🤣 I got very emotional and cried because how silly can you be haha

And seriously, bloody men. My partner told me he was going to cut back on drinking when I started my injections...yeah like that happened 🙄lol

Sherr33 · 06/02/2024 19:41

@Lasagne30 haha omg that puts me in my plac3 assuming everyone is from the same time zone 🤦‍♀️ in which case Good Luck.
I dont mind the injections as long as someone else does it for me so I dont have to see it.

Hi everyone hope everyone is doing OK... I started my gonal f injection and luveros injection now I don't know if I injected the gonal f too high I wonder does it matter where you inject it the reason why I think I inject it to high is because I had to do 2 injections for luveros cos I'm on 150 and it only comes in 75 and I was trying not to inject it in the same place so I went higher not realising it was above the belly button instead of under... @Sherr33 I feel your pain about your partner my husband is the same he is good taking hes vitamins but not good at doing hes exercise he was at the beginning but now that he needs to be doing it he just has lost interest and he also got a pilonidal absess and he seems to be researching everything about it and me here injecting hormones into me and he never researched one time I don't think... its just typical men all about themselves

Lasagne30 · 07/02/2024 04:04

@Sherr33 I was like that at first but then my partner had to go away for work and I had to suck it up and do it myself lol They're not that bad once you get used to them. I've got some cracker bruises though lol I can't seem to pull the needle out straight 🙄
Egg collection went well. They pulled 12 good looking eggs which I'm thrilled about.
Going in for fresh transfer on Monday!
It's happening quickly!
One thing I just wouldn't recommend afterwards-dont cough. Felt like I dropped my guts out of my butt lol

Sherr33 · 07/02/2024 08:42

@Lasagne30 aww congrats on the egg collection. Oh wow eeek i cant imagine how you're feeling. I think my anxiety would take over 😩 is that because its quite sore inside?

OP posts:
Lasagne30 · 07/02/2024 08:49

@Sherr33 I've just been trying to chill on the couch but it's difficult cuz I feel so full. I think if you get a good collection it's easier to not be so anxious.
The nurse said I will be uncomfortable for a while because my body is filling up with blood where they collected from😱which I didn't really understand but it's not the first thing I haven't understood fully so just nodded and agreed 😅
It's only sore when I laugh or cough really. Apart from that I just feel heavy and full. So if this is the worst of it I'll be cheering

waitingforourmiracle · 07/02/2024 14:37

I'm glad it's not just my partner then haha!!

@Lasagne30 that's a great number!! Good luck for Monday, have lots of rest in the meantime!

@Cat191 how are you finding the injections?

I had my first cetrotide injection this morning, it felt so strange mixing it myself I was so nervous I was going to do it wrong! But it was fine, also had my 2nd scan this morning, not much change from Monday but they haven't upped my dosage he said he'll see how things are at the end of the week. Scan provisionally booked for Friday but could change to Saturday depending on blood results taken this morning! So all go!! Also my partner received an appointment for an ultrasound for next week to see if they can see what's causing his fertility issues (low count and morphology) so hopefully we get some answers!

Sherr33 · 07/02/2024 17:43

@Lasagne30 oh god if a nurse said that to me id think have i got internal bleeding!? 🤣 how are you feeling now? Have you taken time off work during this cycle?

@waitingforourmiracle thats good that they are doing further tests on him. I wish they would do the same for mine! Might give him the nudge to understand it 5akes two!

For anyone: What are some tips youre applying that you've taken away from others during this process. Especially for EC / ET?

Hi everyone, can I ask how many scans you all had/are due to have during your stims? I will only be having 2 but I expected it to be more

Faith2024 · 07/02/2024 20:19

@180monkeys that depends on the clinic and usually it’s about 3 I think? Sometimes you get more if there is a reason for close monitoring. My clinic is about 4 but that includes baseline scan, so really 3.

180monkeys · 07/02/2024 20:33

@Faith2024 when you say baseline scan is that done right at the start of stims? I had a scan mid december but now won’t have another one until I’ve already done 5 days of stims.

I’m having NHS treatment so that could be the difference between having more scans.

Lasagne30 · 07/02/2024 20:34

@Sherr33 haha no I imagine it's because they just poked 12 tiny holes in me lol
I had a small amount of spotting but that's normal.
I took the day of the collection off (yesterday) and today aswell.
I'm glad I did. I feel so full. I feel like I always have to go to the toilet but can't. Kind of feels like a stabbing pain when you are really constipated(in your behind not in the stomach).
I wouldn't call it pain, I haven't had to take any pain meds (I mean we've got enough drugs in our system already right lol)

And I started my progesterone tablets this morning. 3 a day for a month vaginally.
Atleast I'm getting some sort of action HAHA 😂

Lasagne30 · 07/02/2024 20:46

@180monkeys It really differs from clinic to clinic and where you are based also I believe.
I had 1 scan about 2 weeks before I started my injections. They put me on the pill for 1 of those weeks. On day 2 of my period I started my first injections and did 4 days of Gonal F. Then added a second injection of Orgaltran for another 6 days and had the last scan on the last day of injections. So 10 days of injections.
Then I did the trigger shot that night and then in for EC 36hrs later. So all up only 2 scans for me too

Lasagne30 · 07/02/2024 20:52

@Cat191 I think you're fine where you inject-as long as it goes into good fatty tissue. Best not to overthink it. Just grab some flab and jab it in lol I did all min under the belly button just because that's where it was comfortable for me
@waitingforourmiracle Thanks! You said you have to mix yours? What does that mean? I just had a dial up pen
