@waitingforourmiracle ya I feel the same way its a life safer because no1 knows what your going thru unless they have been through it... and I find its actually better opening up to a stranger than what it is to someone you know

180monkeys · 03/02/2024 17:10

Hi ladies, hope everyone is getting on ok. Has anyone had or thought about having acupuncture during the cycle? I’ve been doing lots of research today and might try it but would be great to hear from anyone who has tried!

waitingforourmiracle · 03/02/2024 18:10

@Cat191 me too!

@180monkeys so I actually emailed someone earlier this week to book in but then I came on my period and told her I was starting my injections the following day, she was very honest and said she didn't have the availability this week and would struggle the week after so it wouldn't be worth starting so late into my cycle so I've just left it at that, I was happy to give it a try though

180monkeys · 03/02/2024 18:19

@waitingforourmiracle im undecided as it’s very expensive but obviously willing to pay if it is going to be beneficial but also don’t want to waste the money if it’s not! I do quite a lot of yoga which would be good for relaxation and blood flow too so I’m not sure if that will help enough anyway

Faith2024 · 04/02/2024 17:59

Hi all. I am starting cycle 2 of IVF (secondary infertility). I had my baseline scan today and I am hoping to start injections (meriofert & fostimon) tomorrow evening.

@180monkeys I have had acupuncture before the start of ivf but from what I have read it’s most impactful just before or after embryo transfer. I prefer yoga and massage and will save the acupuncture for transfer, when we get there.

Hi all. Im having some weird and wonderful symptoms on the norethisterone tablets. One of them im not sure if its the tablets or not my pinky toe has been swollen, is very hot to touch and red and on the side there's some weird rash type. And it's now spreading on to the top of my foot. Its throbbing as well. I rang 111 and was advised id get a call back from a clinician but when I did get a call it was from local care direct who said that they would ask me a series of questions and depending on that I'd get a call as there was a lot of demand today so I was trialed and deemed as non priority but im just wondering is this a side effect of the tablet or something else? I've got 5 days left on these :'( I don't want to have to stop them when I'm so close to completing my course 😩

@Sherr33 I have something similar on the fematab my ankle is swollen and sore as if I spraint it a few days ago it was my wrist but I find it very hard to walk the last 3 days as I'm putting pressure on it I know I didn't twist it or anything so I think it's from the tablets

Sherr33 · 04/02/2024 18:52

I was worried and rang the emergency gynaecology team number and as amusing as it was to say my pinky and foot are swollen they said oh its not a side effect but maybe for them ita not a common side effect. Did you speak to anyone about it? And are you still continuing? My partner is worried and said to stop the tablets. @Cat191

@Sherr33 really sorry to read you are suffering from side effects 😔 Maybe monitor other reactions, breathing etc, watch for allergy reaction but wait till you talk to your dr, as will be bad to stop and possibly impact the cycle. I had very bad hives for 6 weeks, even after stopping the tablets, unfortunately these side effects do happen

Cat191 · 04/02/2024 20:08

I kept continuing with the tablets today is my last day I did mention it to a nurse yesterday on the emergency line aswel but she said it wasn't side effects that I must have spraint it but I know I didn't... I also looked up online it is part of the side effects it happened a few people on the other forums if I were you I'd keep continuing when your nearly finished @Sherr33

Sherr33 · 04/02/2024 20:21

@Cat191 so how long have you been on it? Mine was for 17 days and my last day is Friday. Yes same the emergency line I rang said it wasn't either. I want to just carry on with it because only 5 days but I just hope I don't make myself feel worse. My partner is telling me just stop it and its not worth my health but ive only 5 days and I'm just praying it doesn't get any worse or I can tolerate it to an extent till Friday.

@TT82 yeah mine have been horrible. Cold sores are partying, gassy, migraines, some days cant sleep and now this my foot is swelling.

OP posts:
Cat191 · 04/02/2024 21:05

@Sherr33 I'm on it for 3 times a day for 10days today is my last day my leg ankle is swelled since yesterday but before that it was my wrist I think if it was an allergic reaction it would affect you nearly straight away

Cat191 · 04/02/2024 21:07

@Sherr33 I think the side effects really kicked in for me in the last 5 days but estradiol does affect joint pain

Sherr33 · 05/02/2024 13:19

@Cat191 @TT82

Update from me: foot swelled up even more if that was possible, cold sore party still going strong and now rash all over my hands feet and legs so u rang my gp and they were a bit perplexed as to what it could be. They have given me a course of antibiotics as foot looks infected and everything else point to some sort of viral infection so I'm praying they help. I feel terrible today will be sleeping it off. And counting down the days to Friday when I take my last bunch of Norethisterone tablets and be gone with all these horrible side effects. I feel so ugly right now and miserable. My birthday is on Sunday and I really wanted to do something to cheer myself up I hope I do feel better by then.

How is everyone getting on x

TT82 · 05/02/2024 13:26

Oh @Sherr33 , sorry to read this update, it is very tough 😔 I really hope antibiotics will help and maybe it was a bad luck with virus and the pill 🙏
My gp also said it is probably allergy of some sort and dimissed. But then dermatologist confirmed no it is acute hives triggered by the pill. He warned me it will last up to 6 weeks even after stopping, apparently it is the case with acute hives. So just in case if you still see rash after Friday. My hives were horrible at night, couldn't sleep, was burning sensetion and constant scratching. During day was better, I managed it.

waitingforourmiracle · 05/02/2024 13:37

@Sherr33 oh that's so rubbish :( sending hugs hope you feel better soon!!

Little update from me, done 3 injections now and can't believe how quick the side effects have started! Nothing major but I am sooo tired, keep getting hot sweats and have fully lost my appetite. Had my first scan this morning and he seemed happy with the progress, upped my gonalf to 150iu from 125iu and I start the cetrotide Wednesday morning. Next scan is Wednesday morning and it still doesn't feel real 😬

How's everyone x

waitingforourmiracle · 05/02/2024 14:14

Just to add, I have 17 follicles right and 16 on the left, so 33 all together, I left feeling like this is a good number but after a quick Dr Google search I'm now thinking is this too many??

Cat191 · 05/02/2024 14:37

@Sherr33 hope you feel better soon. It just feels rubbish when you don't know is it from the pill or is it a viral... little update from me they messed up my tablets by a day so I furnished fematab last night and they were going to prescribe me some for today but there's no chemist opened over the bank holiday so they told me skip today and start injections tomorrow they said the fematab already done its job now so it should be OK let's hope it does work out OK....@waitingforourmiracle that's a lot of follicles how many follicles did you have I the beginning before you started injections sorry if you already mentioned it

waitingforourmiracle · 05/02/2024 14:40

@Cat191 good luck with your injections, I've not found actually doing the injections bad at all! On my initial consultation when they did an internal scan back in December there was 28. I do have PCOS so it was always going to be higher!

Cat191 · 05/02/2024 14:43

@waitingforourmiracle thanks same to you and everyone else on the this... you just need to be careful it's not over stimulating your ovaries they told me anything over 20 is a freeze all cycle

Sherr33 · 05/02/2024 19:13

@waitingforourmiracle ahh i was going to say thats a lot of follicles but i just read you have PCOS
In terms of side effects how are they?

@Cat191 very confusing i think this is all mostly side effects. Counting down the days till fridayyyyyy

Morning ladies!
Watching this thread actively. Good luck to everyone!
So I have done all my injections and had my scan done yesterday. My nurse said I had some really good looking follicles and a good number of them so am hopeful they're of good quality.
Going in for egg collection tomorrow at 7am so we'll see how I go!
Quite nervous. It's feeling very real now.

camelinastorm · 06/02/2024 08:10

Good luck for today @Lasagne30 enjoy the amazing little nap and hope you feel ok after

Sherr33 · 06/02/2024 09:17

@Lasagne30 what injections were you on and what side effects did you notice?
I hope EC has gone smoothly for you...the whole process is so nerve wrecking ahhh wishing you all the best for today x

@Lasagne30 good luck, hope all went well!!

@Sherr33 nothing really major, I slept for 12 hours last night which was soo needed I was so tired! Hot sweats seemed to have calmed down abit, my belly just feels bubbly 😂the consultant laughed when I said it but it feels like someone if blowing bubbles inside my stomach haha! But overall I'm fine. How are you feeling today? Not long till you finish your pill x
