Oh no @Jennaqua how did you find out about the polyps? Did they show up on a scan?

Jennaqua · 19/02/2024 21:18

@Doxy21 Yes. It showed up first 2 days just before egg collection and on Thursday 15th Feb.
My uterus was clear and in good condition b4 I started the IVF meds. 😥
@Sunflower360 How much did they charge for the polyps removal? At least let me have an estimated costing🤦‍♂️😥

Doxy21 · 19/02/2024 21:22

@Jennaqua I think it might be part of a hysteroscopy. But I could be wrong.

@muddlingthrou welcome, do you know when you may be transferring? Also good to hear you had success, was that your 1st transfer?

@Jennaqua I had the Hysteroscopy on private medical care to remove the polyp, but I think it can cost anywhere between 2k-2.8k. But unfortunately with a polyp it is better to remove it as it can affect implantation, I also had adhesions and a tight cervix which they noticed whilst doing the Hysteroscopy so they were both fixed too

@Doxy21 did you have your saline check? Good luck with your FET, when are you hoping to transfer?

@Jennaqua mine too was caused by the IVF hormones, never had a polyp before, but with back to back cycles including abandoned ones ultimately it led to the polyp due to excess hormones. There is the option to perhaps see if it goes naturally or to get it done via the NHS, but inevitably, that would lead to delays of months. Doing it privately, mine was done within 3 weeks. It would have been sooner but it was Christmas between my consultation and procedure

@Sunflower360 yep my saline scan was all good, no polyps. I guess if my cycle started today and I’m having a 5 day transfer it will be around 8-11 March maybe? I hoping not 9th March as i have family plans I can’t bail on. Husband is away 19-22 March so I guess won’t be here for test date and I don’t think I’ll have a very restful time whilst he’s away. Not great timing for him to be away 🙄

muddlingthrou · 19/02/2024 22:46

@Sunflower360 - thank you for the welcome! My transfer is tomorrow.

Yes, my DD was conceived through our first transfer after 3x cycles of egg collection. She was our best embryo from all three rounds, so hoping it wasn't a fluke!

It feels like too much to expect lightning to strike twice, so I am feeling very nervous about this transfer. We won't be able to afford to do another for a few months at least, so this will likely be our only shot in 2024.

Are polyps identified in the baseline scans? My baseline scans have shown fine but my Pap smear showed small polyp. I've had polyps before and had it removed which was benign so wondering if the scans and smears are checking different places...?

Sunflower360 · 20/02/2024 06:05

@Doxy21 that's good the saline trst went well and fingers crossed this transfer goes well

@muddlingthrou that was a good result, how many embryos do you have frozen?

@buttonfour mine showed on the scan during the stimming process, the Dr noticed it and suggested it appeared to be a polyp. In all honesty if he wasn't in the appt I do wonder if it would have got picked up but hopefully the nurses would know to recognise them too

@Sunflower360 - we had 5 day three embryos and 1 day five embryo of very varying quality. They thawed one of our day three embryos on Sunday and have been culturing it until today. We'll find out today how it has fared, I assume!

Do you mind me asking where you are in your journey?

Doxy21 · 20/02/2024 08:05

@Sunflower360 which clinic are you with again? It’s crazy how it varies - the scans at St Paul’s are done by doctors

Sunflower360 · 20/02/2024 08:43

@Doxy21 I'm with Birmingham. The nurses are good at scanning, and I've always found them helpful, it's just on this occasion the Dr spotted the polyp but I'm not sure how ling it had been there for until then. Thankfully it was noticed before any transfer

@muddlingthrou I'm about to go into a FET (hopefully if lining etc is all ok). I've got 7 blastocysts of varying quality and a day 3 embryo as yet to be cultured. The first 2 transfers are likely to be singles. I've not had PGTA done, although I'm wondering if we should have done now....so unsure about it as I don't want to damage/lose embryos through the thaw/refreeze/thaw process

I don't think I realised you were at Birmingham as well @Sunflower360 might see you there sometime!

Getting anxious about tomorrow. I hope that I have some visible follicles 🤞

Sunflower360 · 20/02/2024 18:20

@VenusStarr yes perhaps! Is tomorrow your first scan?

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 20/02/2024 18:30

Yes, its cd6 tomorrow @Sunflower360 I do feel some twinges so hopefully somethings happening. Just worried the estradiol will have slowed things down. I hope not xx

VenusStarr · 21/02/2024 12:22

Hey. Had my scan this morning. My right ovary only had 2 follicles and I felt so deflated that it will be cancelled but she moved to the left and its doing all the hard work.

Lining is 5.9mm, which is good, slightly better than this time last time. She said everything looking nice 👍 so I have 5 follicles from 12-9mm, then 8 follicles from 7-5mm 🤞 back Friday morning.

So it does look like they're growing a bit more evenly this time 🙏 did a cetrotide when I get home.

How is everyone? X

Sunflower360 · 21/02/2024 15:26

@VenusStarr that's really good! Sounds like the estrogen priming is working. I'm ok, just see what happens and if I can eventually proceed with a transfer. Bit nervous as we haven't tested any embryos so not sure what could happen, really is pot luck

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 21/02/2024 15:34

I hope so @Sunflower360 🙏 I've got a horrible headache, feel hungover today. Going to drag myself out for a walk in the rain.

I hope things go smoothly for transfer, did you say you're in next week for a scan? It's hard to say don't worry about testing embryos but you have some really good quality ones waiting for you ❤️ xx

VenusStarr · 21/02/2024 15:44

I've just compared my chart to my first scan last time and it's looking a lot better, so fingers crossed estrogen priming is the way forward 🙏

Sunflower360 · 21/02/2024 16:16

@VenusStarr yep scan next week. My period is an odd one this month though. I used to only bleed for 2-3 days but this is my 1st proper cycle since the Hysteroscopy and its CD 4 and I'm still bleeding... it is easing off as CD 2 was more, but not sure why and if it's good or bad that its changed-period pain has been minimal, dull ache on CD 1 so had 2 x Paracetamol but that's all. Dr did say I had adhesions on my lining and he smoothed them out so something has changed the flow of my period, not sure if the adhesions caused issues and perhaps my periods before the Hysteroscopy was actually abnormal as I used to spot for quite a few days before a period but this cycle I only spotted for 2 days before. Suppose I'll know more when I have the scans during this cycle as its a natural FET

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 21/02/2024 21:53

I think the hysteroscopy can have an impact on your flow @Sunflower360 but it could be the adhesions might have influenced the flow too? The spotting could be progesterone related too - how long is your luteal phase usually?

I've broken out in loads of spots on my chin 👍 definitely feel like my body is working hard, am so thirsty and feeling knackered.

Sunflower360 · 21/02/2024 21:58

@VenusStarr luteal phase is CD 13 days but spotting starts on CD 10 which is when I'll know AF is on the way. Flow has reduced now so I imagine tomorrow will be really light, was just a bit different than usual...just made me wonder what might be going on!

OP posts:
Plantymcplant · 22/02/2024 06:08

@VenusStarr I'm really happy for you that the scans are looking good. I hope all the next steps go well!

I got my medication for the FeT, just waiting for my period now. I also get spotting from day 10 but nothing yet. Based on dates my period should of started today but I guess the egg collection confused my body a bit

gemso2020 · 22/02/2024 14:17

@VenusStarr That's great news on your scan! Hope you are feeling a little more relaxed about this cycle now :)
