@VenusStarr that's good, fingers crossed for a good EC

@Doxy21 how much is the ERA, what are the timelines and do Create offer it or is it a referral elsewhere?

OP posts:
Doxy21 · 05/01/2024 06:47

@Sunflower360 im not sure on price - waiting for a price list. Looking elsewhere it looks like it might be around £1.5k. The doc didn’t say that create don’t do any of the tests he suggested. My old price list (from August last year) also shows the cost of hysteroscopy- were you told Create don’t offer it?

Sunflower360 · 05/01/2024 09:21

@Doxy21 I got a referral for a private hospital for the Hysteroscopy as they didn't do it (referred by the Create Dr, I could have used another if I wanted but preferred the referral), I think generally they are limited on what extras they provide

OP posts:
Doxy21 · 05/01/2024 09:42

@Sunflower360 The ERA test is £1400 but marked red on hfea website do we aren’t going to do it.

The hysteroscopy team are going to contact me but the saline scan is £450 so I think initially we will just do that.

Hopesandsunshine · 05/01/2024 14:06

@VenusStarr all the best and it sounds positive so far 🤞🏼

@Plantymcplant hope your cycle is going well, are you going to mild as well?

@Sunflower360 glad your hysteroscopy went well and hope your resting now.

@Doxy21 sounds like a good plan in terms of doing the saline treatment 😊

jolly86 · 07/01/2024 18:58

@VenusStarr hope all is going well x do you have an idea when you will trigger yet?

VenusStarr · 07/01/2024 22:07

Hi @jolly86 I triggered tonight! Collection is Tuesday. I'm a bit worried as my top follicle was 20mm but they wanted to push me as I have an 11mm that they think might do something, but I'm scared I'll lose the top one - it grew 5mm in 2 days 🫠
It was up in the air yesterday and I might have done trigger yesterday if my bloods showed I needed it but I didn't get a call, so stuck to the plan for Tuesday. Nothing I can do now but pray that we get something. I'm hoping for at least 2 as had a 15 and a 16mm follicle too.

How are you?

How's your recovery going @Sunflower360 ?

Hope everyone is doing ok. I've been feeling out of sorts and quite uncomfortable now. Strangely I feel calmer now I've triggered, I guess it's because there's nothing else I can do now. I've found stims a lot harder this time round but I am 40 now, it's a lot different to ivf at 37! X

HopefulElle · 07/01/2024 22:26

Hi everyone! I’m back from a lovely break and now awaiting my period (due Tues) so that I can hopefully start my 3rd cycle, and go ahead with transfer. Taking a couple of months off and getting away was definitely the right call for me, feel in a much better headspace now. Not sure how long that will last now that it’s all getting very real again!
Hope everyone else is doing ok? I’ve missed so many posts but will try to catch up. Best of luck with your collection @VenusStarr!
Here’s hoping 2024 is a positive year for us all x

Hopesandsunshine · 07/01/2024 22:50

Best of luck @VenusStarr hope you get some good eggies 🤞🏼

i also had my egg collection got one egg (to be expected with natural modified) but they did see 2 follicles and only retrieved one for some reason and it didn’t fertilise so back to the drawing board for me. 🙁 but I’m going to try and stay hopeful and last month was very stressful with mum and hosting Christmas etc so I’m hoping now it’s calmed down I might fare better but who knows.

all the best @HopefulElle keep us updated! I’m in a similar position where I don’t know whether to take a break completely (with age I start to get scared and think time is important) or to start again in two weeks…

VenusStarr · 08/01/2024 07:09

I'm so pleased that you're feeling in a good headspace after your break @HopefulElle fingers crossed for this up coming cycle.

@Hopesandsunshine I am so sorry that your egg didn't fertilise 🩷 I hope you're OK. I don't think one month off, if you think you need a break, would have a big impact on outcomes. I think sometimes a break can be helpful, just to give you some space.

Hope everyone is ok xx

Sunflower360 · 08/01/2024 07:58

@VenusStarr I'm ok thanks, come down with my 4th cold in 4 months though so not happy about that! Just waiting on my Hysteroscopy report to plan next steps

@Hopesandsunshine sorry about your collection, echo previous comment that if you need a months break then you should do it, got to listen to how you feel

@HopefulElle good to hear from you and goodluck for your 3rd cycle!

OP posts:
HopefulElle · 08/01/2024 08:08

@Hopesandsunshine I had the same worries, time is important but so are stress levels. I really don’t think one month will make a difference, so if you feel like you need a break my advice is to take it. It’s a tough process so you need to be in a good headspace for it & be kind to yourself.
@Sunflower360 hope you’re over your cold soon, 4 in 4 months is really bad luck!

jolly86 · 08/01/2024 08:27

@VenusStarr 20 cm doesn’t sound too large, I hope you ll get 3 eggs or so

@HopefulElle gland you had a break and feeling better

@Hopesandsunshine i am sorry for the collection hope you can get a break and try again fresh

Hopesandsunshine · 08/01/2024 11:30

Thanks everyone @Sunflower360 @VenusStarr @jolly86 @HopefulElle and everyone else.

just a question, those of you that took a break between the three cycles did you find it helped? I only ask because there’s thinking that doing repeated egg collection becomes cumulative and should help with egg quality if you do it back to back but then taking a break might also be equally useful. Let me know what you did and if it helped at all especially with egg quality. X

Sunflower360 · 08/01/2024 11:48

@Hopesandsunshine I have to say I do agree with that theory. I took a break but only because on one the back to back cycles I got a rubbish response so stopped stims after 5 days then picked back in the next one and it was much better. The thoughts are if you do back to back then one of those cycles would hopefully produce a good quality egg (if quality is an issue). If you're comfortable starting and possibly having to cancel if it was not great then I would suggest go for it

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 08/01/2024 11:49

Of course if you feel mentally and physically go to proceed too. Reality is you can never be sure what the result is going to be. Kind of pot luck really but by doing bavk to back you hope one of them will be good

OP posts:
Plantymcplant · 08/01/2024 13:57

I had another scan this morning. They think I will take the trigger today and do the collection on Wednesday just waiting for the call. They estimate 4 follicles. I hope that will be enough. Fingers crossed

VenusStarr · 08/01/2024 17:12

That's positive news @Plantymcplant have you heard yet? I'm not expecting many eggs, hoping for 3 🙏

@Hopesandsunshine it's so difficult to know whats 'right'. For me, I seem to have worse responses when I go back to back (not ivf but when we tried superovulation). I think my body isn't that keen on synthetic hormones. But as @Sunflower360 it could be a good thing to jump straight back in. So I think I'd be guided on how you feel about trying straight away. If you're physically and mentally up for it, I'd carry on ❤️

Thank you @jolly86 I was thinking earlier, both egg collections I've done, I've had 3 fertilised eggs. So I'm hoping for 3 and I think that would be a positive.
How are you getting on? X

Plantymcplant · 08/01/2024 17:51

@VenusStarr yes just heard it will be Wednesday. They are hoping for 3 - 5 eggs. Keeping everything crossed!

VenusStarr · 09/01/2024 12:07

Hi everyone. Mixed news from me. I ovulated my top follicle (as was my worry 😐) they did get an egg from it, so must've just happened but said it'll likely be no good.
4 in total but the doctor said they'll not push me next time and trigger earlier (even though my bloods were ok they don't want to risk it) but that I also had a poor response and they'd hoped for a better collection. I've got to see my consultant next week to talk about changes to my protocol - maybe estrogen priming? Does anyone know more about that?

So, I'm going to park this cycle I think as I'm not expecting good news on my updates. The positive is dh's sample was good for standard ivf, so we've done that rather than icsi this time. It was our choice. I think I'll see how next time goes and maybe we'll do icsi then.

I also woke up crying from sedation 🫠 dh and I had a good chat last night and we've agreed that whatever happens after these rounds, we're done trying. No one can say we didn't try hard enough. X

Plantymcplant · 09/01/2024 14:42

@VenusStarr well done on getting through the collection. I will keep my fingers crossed for your 4 eggs to fertilise.

My collection is tomorrow. They are worried I will ovulate as well so I have been put on nurofen. So stressed every twinge is making me panic

jolly86 · 09/01/2024 15:52

@VenusStarr sorry about that but did they see a risk of ovulating when they saw you over the weekend? Also why do you say the response was bad as 4 eggs is not a bad outcome? I don’t think you should write it off at all. Are you doing back to back cycles?

Sunflower360 · 09/01/2024 16:37

@VenusStarr sorry to hear about that, but 4 eggs is still good and still a chance of embryos-fingers crossed for a good update. What was your LH result in the bloods? That is usually what indicates if ovulation is near

OP posts:
Hopesandsunshine · 09/01/2024 19:05

@VenusStarr i know it might feel awful and you have every right to be upset, but 4 eggs is good. I’ll have everything crossed for you xx

Hopesandsunshine · 09/01/2024 19:06

All the best for tomorrow @Plantymcplant

i wonder if only getting the one egg and it being bad quality is a sign of an underlying issue? But I’ve gone and done long protocol at another clinic and I have managed to get 3 eggs first time and 4 eggs the second time, I’m just really lost and confused 😕
