IVF / ICSI January 2024

Hi, is anyone due to start IVF / ICSI in January? We're going to do a 3 cycle package. I was hoping to start in December but hadn't realised Christmas closing would be so early! My clinic won't start fresh cycles after 30 November - my af is due any day now.

Got my protocol consultation next week, we've been doing lots of tests and my baseline scan. My husband was very sick earlier the year and we've now got MFI (low motility) and borderline sperm dna fragmentation. I've had recurrent miscarriages, combination of natural and ivf pregnancies, low amh, fibroids, adenomyosis... I've got immune issues so will be on extensive meds when we get to transfer. Trying to bank some embryos as this is our last go 🙏

Trying to see the wait as a positive to give us time to get the supplements in our system and eat well.

If anyone fancies joining me on the wait, please do 🙂

7 embryos have been frozen. 6 grade A and 1 grade C. 8th one is showing some signs of progressing so they are giving it until tomorrow 🥲🤍🤍. So happy.

73pheonix · 31/01/2024 11:59

@Heyjal That’s amazing news 🥰

Copenhagener · 31/01/2024 12:32

@Ellenn oh no, I hope you feel better soon! It’s nice to be distracted from symptom-spotting for a bit though. I wasn’t actually doing it at all, until I noticed the spotting today.

I will see if the spotting worsens tomorrow, and keep taking my progesterone. I’m considering taking a pregnancy test tomorrow, but I don’t know if a standard one would pick anything up 6 days after 5 day transfer - especially if it implanted today.

I’m hoping for the best, but expecting the worse. I feel optimism has come back to bite me in the past!

Copenhagener · 31/01/2024 12:33

@Heyjal that's wonderful news! Was it your first egg retrieval? Sorry if you’ve already mentioned - this thread moves fast!

180monkeys · 31/01/2024 12:40

@Heyjal thats amazing! I’m sure you’re delighted after your worrying!

Heyjal · 31/01/2024 13:16

@Copenhagener yeh this was my first. Hopefully have transfer in about 7 or 8 weeks time 🥹🤞🏻

@180monkeys thank you! Can’t believe it. I’m over the moon.

confuzzzzzled · 31/01/2024 14:07

The embryo is in, what a strange feeling! Out of 6 eggs collected, we also have another 2 top quality ones to freeze, really goes to show sometimes its quality over quantity.

confuzzzzzled · 01/02/2024 12:35

Another embryo has caught up and is looking top quality so it’s been frozen! That’s 4 top quality embryos out of 6 eggs collected. Feel like this has took so much pressure off on me regarding this transfer working

Heyjal · 01/02/2024 15:19

@confuzzzzzled thats so great. Best of luck when it comes to test day.
I just got a call as well that my wee number 8 caught up and is now frozen as well 🥹. 10 eggs were mature so I’m over the bloody moon.

confuzzzzzled · 01/02/2024 15:29

@Heyjal thank you!!!

those numbers are AMAZING I bet you’re so pleased!

73pheonix · 01/02/2024 15:53

Just a bit of an update here. Periods technically due today but still on 3 x progesterone pessaries.
This mornings test (bottom) 9dpt compared to yesterdays (top) 8dpt,
I don’t see any progression and they’re 10miu sensitive tests so not feeling very hopeful it’s viable.
Hope the uncertainty is over one way or another soon.

Unhappy update.

Just started properly bleeding after 2 days of spotting. I’m 6 days post transfer and bright red blood, lots of clots, and enough to wear a sanitary towel. Despite 8 days of progesterone pessaries twice a day.

I’m really shocked as everyone - including the nurse today - said it wasn’t possible to have my period 6 days after transfer. It can’t be implantation bleeding when it’s filled with clots, so I truly have no idea why this is happening now.

Heyjal · 01/02/2024 16:00

@73pheonix do you have anymore easy at home ones to compare the lines 48HRS apart?

Heyjal · 01/02/2024 16:04

@Copenhagener sorry to see this. How would it not be possible 6 days after transfer? Was it a fresh transfer?

I started my withdrawal bleed 5 days after egg collection but have read that can take about 12 days for that to start. Could it be withdrawal?

Loute02 · 01/02/2024 17:27

@Copenhagener very sorry to hear about that. How long is your cycle usually? Did you do a blood test before egg collection to check progesterone levels? If I had had a fresh transfer this cycle I would have bled 6 days post 5 days transfer. This matches my usual 26 days cycle. However progesterone levels were too high so they told me I missed the better window for transfer.

Copenhagener · 01/02/2024 17:36

@Loute02 thank you! Today is cycle day 26. My cycle is normally 30-31 days long. They didn’t do a progesterone check beforehand no. I’ve had my progesterone checked in the past during medicated IUIs and it was normal range though.

It’s the Danish public system, which means 6 rounds of free IVF, but also no bells and whistles, sadly. I have one frozen blast left, so perhaps they can do a closer job of monitoring next cycle.

Loute02 · 01/02/2024 17:47

@Copenhagener it is disheartening though. I hope you get a review meeting where you get to ask all your questions and see what should change next time. Take some time to take care of yourself!

I have my review meeting in 2 weeks to discuss this cycle and plan a frozen transfer. I had 2 fresh transfers so this will be a whole new experience.

IVF23 · 01/02/2024 18:19

Lots of updates since I was last on here!

@Copenhagener sorry to hear this. I hope the clinic are supportive and make some suggestions of what may be able to be changed next cycle.

@73pheonix sorry you’re in an uncertain situation, it’s horrible. I’m assuming your clinic doesn’t do blood tests? Could you get 2 x private blood tests if needed to check your Hcg levels and if they’re rising as expected?

@Heyjal great news

@Ellenn sorry to hear you’re unwell. When are you testing (sorry if I’m missed it)?

Heyjal · 02/02/2024 21:01

@73pheonix how you getting on?

73pheonix · 02/02/2024 21:47

@Heyjal Thanks for asking 🙏🙏🙏
I’m ok, think my tests got marginally darker today. But I obviously understand they’re not where they should be for 10dp5dt.

So just feeling in limbo really.
clinic official test day is Monday.
clear blue digital says 1-2, should say 2-3 i believe now.

Heyjal · 02/02/2024 23:32

@73pheonix I totally understand your worry but they are definitely getting darker 48hrs apart. Just remember that the pigment of these tests lines weren’t designed to be interpreted this way! Sorry you have to wait all weekend, it’s so difficult being stuck in limbo but you don’t have too long now and hopefully it’s the outcome you want 🤞🏻.

Ellenn · 03/02/2024 07:15

@IVF23 im planning on testing on Sunday hopefully when im 9dp5dt. My official OTD isn’t till the 9th though so being a bit naughty! I hope it will be a clear answer either way.

@73pheonix those lines do look like they are getting darker. It’s horrible being in limbo you just can’t think of anything else can you. I hope it continues to progress and they get darker 🤞 xxx

is anyone else due to test soon? I’ve only got one day to go eek 😳 getting quite nervous

IVF23 · 03/02/2024 09:43

@Ellenn fingers crossed for you tomorrow, just one more day of waiting!

@73pheonix I agree, the lines are getting darker which is a good sign of hcg increasing. Hope it continues

Cloclo93 · 03/02/2024 10:08

@73pheonix they definitely look like there getting darker 🙏🙏
