IVF / ICSI January 2024

Hi, is anyone due to start IVF / ICSI in January? We're going to do a 3 cycle package. I was hoping to start in December but hadn't realised Christmas closing would be so early! My clinic won't start fresh cycles after 30 November - my af is due any day now.

Got my protocol consultation next week, we've been doing lots of tests and my baseline scan. My husband was very sick earlier the year and we've now got MFI (low motility) and borderline sperm dna fragmentation. I've had recurrent miscarriages, combination of natural and ivf pregnancies, low amh, fibroids, adenomyosis... I've got immune issues so will be on extensive meds when we get to transfer. Trying to bank some embryos as this is our last go 🙏

Trying to see the wait as a positive to give us time to get the supplements in our system and eat well.

Hi all, This is my last natural cycle before starting short protocol IVF icsi. Just wanted some advice! I generally get a positive OPK on CD15, however, this month it seems I either haven’t ovulated yet, OR got a positive on CD12 (the only day I forgot to test!!!) I generally get stronger lines in the lead up. I got lots of EWCM on days 7-11 but nothing after that.

Has anyone else had this experience before IVF? If my period is late, does this affect the IVF? SO typical this happens the month that I really need it to be normal…

I sometimes get a positive on day 12 but also sometimes get it on day 15. I just don’t know what to think or do. I’m worried that I will have a ‘withdrawal bleed’ rather than a proper period, if I come on at all. Should I speak to my clinic about this?

Also, if I hadn’t have tracked this month then I would be none the wiser, my only indication would be no period… and then I would have thought I was pregnant!

I also think maybe this has happened because I am pretty sure I had a chemical last month (3rd one) and when this happened last time I missed an ovulation.

Heyy hope all is well im just wondering how this would work I did a 3dt and today is day 6 my period is due on 26th/27th this week my test day is 29th would I get my period if im not pregnant? Or when I stop taking the progesterone I don't understand ! Thanks

@xbiscottix last transfer I didn’t get my period until about 5 days after I stopped my progesterone. I know some people do still get their period whilst on the progesterone though, so it’s very individual

Is seven days after transfer too early to test? I know my clinic would say yes, which is why I am booked in for blood test on Wednesday.
But what's the group view on early testing?!

@potatosconelover heyy iv been testing everyday since transfer to test out the trigger shot.. iv had negatives from 4dpt and I did a 3dt. what day transfer did you do? I think it depends on the transfer date from what iv seen online people be getting positives different dates varies individually x

I did a five day transfer last Monday. And 36 hours before that I did Ovitrelle trigger shot, @xbiscottix. Aaaaaargh!!!!! XXXX

@potatosconelover Okay I did trigger on the 11th and transfer 16th x maybe should be out your system depends on brand and how much you took x I would test personally if beta test day is Wednesday x

@xbiscottix when you said you were testing the trigger - so did you take a pregnancy test every to check if it was positive (which would be trigger) and then if it was negative and then positive you would know for sure it was your own hcg behind it? And not a false positive?

Yes i took one everyday iv been getting trigger shot positives. Fingers crossed one day ill test and see a faint line x

@potatosconelover yes my test for the last 3 days have been getting negatives x

@potatosconelover my clinic doesn't do beta test my test date is next week Monday so I'll know way before then if I'm not pregnant.

@Copenhagener that sounds scary 😨 I hate that involuntary shaking! I had that with my c section 5 years ago not a nice feeling, praying you get some good day 5 embryos 🙏
Is a catheter normal to have during a egg collection?

@Cloclo93 No, I don't think it's normal - my bladder just hadn't fully emptied unfortunately so it needed draining for safety. If there's another time, I'd quit drinking liquids 2 hours beforehand. I was more focused on staying hydrated as everyone kept telling me about being constipated after (wasn't a thing, at all).

scan went okay this morning! In a strange turn of events my left ovary is now growing all the follicles and my right one isn’t 😁5 good sized follicles, and another 2 that need to catch up by a couple of mm so stimming for one extra day and going for my retrieval on Friday. But disappointed with the low number of follicles, but reminding myself it only takes one egg

How's everyone that had their egg collection this week getting on?
I'm still pretty sore and bloated which I wasn't really expecting but just trying to stay busy and hoping we get something to transfer on Saturday 🙏

@Eggbert12345 mine was on Sunday. The bloating was unreal! It’s started going down now, but I still have some fluid retention. Acupuncture helped a lot, and I’ve been drinking lots of water and eating fruits. Still sleeping with a pillow under my right side though! Everyone said I’d be constipated too, but I’m having the opposite; which isn’t good fun.

We’re on a similar schedule - if we get there, my transfer will be Friday.

@Eggbert12345 I had mine Monday and I’m SO bloated still. Cramps have eased off now though. I don’t remember all this uncomfortable bloating last time! 🙁

@Blossomofhope and @Copenhagener fingers crossed it eases soon for all of us! My tummy feels like a balloon and sort of bruised. I can't imagine anyone going near me down there at the moment so hopefully it's a lot better by Saturday. Sorry if TMI!
Our clinic doesn't do any updates during the week so each day is feeling long atm, can't imagine how long they'll feel during the TWW (fingers crossed I get that far).

@Eggbert12345 ya I feel sort of similar - bloated and bruised and slightly uncomfortable when I first sit down. Not sure if that’s all normal. Ya my clinic is the same - after the fertilisation update I don’t hear again until the afternoon before transfer. Eek

Morning @IVF23. I'm out of the TWW - the test was positive! Seven-week scan in three weeks and just hope, hope, hoping everything stays fine and okay. Still on the blood thinning injections as I still have a few OHSS symptoms, but other than that am just so happy. Finally having a positive test. Still quite stunned!!!

@IVF23 I'm doing alright my tww is over already iv been testing since 1dpt iv tested out the trigger and I did my last test yesterday which was 8dp3dt and its stark white negative I ain't bothering to test anymore as I strongly believe my 1st transfer hasn't worked I will do a test on the 29th in the morning to confirm with the clinic that its a negative but apart from that I ain't testing again and I really want to stop taking the progesterone as I know I'm taking it for no reason I hope all is well with you and bump x
