FET/IVF/ICSI - October 2033

Lauralozzle · 23/09/2023 13:09

Anyone due to start cycle/have transfer in October jump on board!

Little history:

TTC our first. Trying for 4 years. Officially unexplained but I only have one ovary that responds/works. Fertilisation issues. Positive Sperm Oxidative Stress Test (likely DNA Frag). So it’s really a bit of a mix.

Dec 22/Jan 23 - First ICSI cycle. 8 eggs, 6 mature, 2 fertilised. One poor blast to transfer. Nothing to freeze. BFN.

July 23 - Second ICSI cycle. Using AOA & ZyMot chip. 8 eggs, 8 mature, 4 fertilised. One fresh to transfer and 2 to freeze. BFN.

Oct 23 - First FET scheduled.

Currently waiting for my period to start so that FET cycle can start. Should start beginning of Oct, so FET likely towards end of the month.

@Lauralozzle it's good the consultant is on board with doing extra and new things. Sometimes I think IVF starts off with such a cookie cutter approach that I feel like they don't know anything in addition to the basics so it's nice to know that they do! You've been so strong, you deserve to take the two weeks and give yourself a mental break from all of the stress and all of the pressure.

KI19 · 02/11/2023 10:48

An update from me another negative today on a FRER at 7dp5dt, pretty sure im out and obviously devastated to have another failed transfer. Your message resonated with me too @ViVRe I hope that we all can find happiness with or without a baby in the end. I have one frozen low grade embryo left and don't think I have it in my to do another egg collection.

@Lauralozzle what do you mean by the protected two weeks? Glad you are having some time out, I love Christmas too, going to make some xmas decorations to cheer myself up today :)

Babyplease23 · 02/11/2023 10:54

Just got our day 1 update -

23 eggs collected
13 mature
10 fertilised normally

Really pleased with this. Considering 2 days before collection I only had 3 mature!

Apparently they no longer give a day 3 update which is disappointing but they've cautiously booked me in for transfer on Monday, assuming I get no symptoms of OHSS. Otherwise it'll be a freeze all!

IVFKinster · 02/11/2023 11:06

@KI19 I'm sorry you got a negative today ☹️ it's still early though at 7dp. Will you test again at 9/10dpt? Making Xmas decs sounds like a good way to do something sparkly and positive. What kind do you make? (If it's possible to explain in text!).

@Babyplease23 that's a really great update! 10 fertilised is a good place to be at this stage. What a long few days you have ahead but exciting to have your transfer provisionally booked in. Fingers crossed for no OHSS for you 🤞🤞

Hopingforno2in2023 · 02/11/2023 11:08

I’m sorry about the BFN @KI19 but it is still early. Fingers crossed you get better news in a few days.

Great numbers @Babyplease23

Babyplease23 · 02/11/2023 11:11

Sorry I completely missed your update @KI19 sorry to see you got a negative this morning. 7dp is still early though, I've definitely seen people get negatives at this stage and then go on to have a positive. Don't lose hope and maybe hold off a couple of days and try again.. sending you all of the love and positivity ❤️

@IVFKinster thank you! It's definitely going to be a long old weekend. I'll have to try and keep myself busy, but I know I'm going to be constantly wondering how those little embryos are getting on! In the meantime, looks of fluids and yummy foods!xx

Melisss · 02/11/2023 11:21

@KI19 oh no but as the girls are saying it is still early. Stay positive and maybe take another test in a couple of days.

@Babyplease23 those are some great numbers! How come they don`t give a day 3 update, are you with the NHS? (sorry if you mentioned).
Just keep hydrated and take it easy so you are ready for transfer.

@IVFKinster how are you holding up with the wait?

I have my first scan tomorrow morning, day 8 of stims. I feel ok which is also worrying me 😅 Maybe nothing is happening in there. Very curious to see what they say.

User491 · 02/11/2023 11:27

Morning everyone,

@Babyplease23 amazing numbers! You must be over the moon. How are you feeling? I was so sore yesterday, and still sore today, but not as bad!

We got 6 eggs, and found out today that all were mature, and 4 have fertilised normally.
Fingers crossed for some good news Saturday 🤞🏻
I'm contemplating doing an at home progesterone test, anyone ever used these before and can recommend a company?

@Lauralozzle thinking of you, it can be so cruel. Taking a break from IVF and enjoying Christmas sounds like a good plan.

@SunsetsAndSandwiches I found reflexology and reiki really helped me, I have a massage booked for tomorrow night, and then plan to get reflex/reiki again a few after transfer (as long as we get that far)

@KI19 sorry for
Your negative test, however, my first cycle I had a stark negative test 7dpo, but for a positive 8dp- try not to lose hope!

Lauralozzle · 02/11/2023 11:34

@KI19 from ACAS.
You have pregnancy rights once you've had an embryo transfer (the last part of the IVF process) and might become pregnant.
If your employer knows you might be pregnant, you're protected against unfair dismissal and unfair treatment related to it.
You're still protected by law against pregnancy discrimination for 2 weeks after finding out an embryo transfer was unsuccessful.

Because my mental health has taken a bit of a battering, I’m struggling to concentrate and will be waiting for the period from hell to arrive, which will undoubtedly make me upset, I’m thinking of calling in sick on Monday. That’s the day I officially tell the clinic. That’s the day I’ll be told to stop medication. That’s the day when I’ll end up arranging a date for our review. I won’t be in a fit state to work. It’s all related to the transfer. A week, which hopefully is all I need, won’t affect my attendance triggers at work but if I need a second week to get over this, then it will.

I’m hoping because I’ll be in the protected period and they are very much aware of my transfer and IVF they’ll have to seriously consider the IVF and pregnancy rights I have in it because otherwise 2 weeks off work on sick (potentially) has formal written attendance warning all over it. I don’t know if it will make a difference at all, being in the protected period, but I’m hoping it will.

I have just got on with it the past two transfers, I don’t feel I have really dealt with it, and this failed transfer has hit me much more than the second one because I hoped it would work as I had no spotting. I still have no spotting.

I’ve written this cycle off, bfn at 9dp5dt is very reliable. It is the OTD of other clinics. But I still have to take meds until the clinic say stop and my search of google has shown that very few people (some though) don’t get a BFP until 11/12/13dp5dt. Or have a negative HPT but a positive beta at 8/9dp5dt. I’m not hopeful, I’ve accepted it’s over, but my body won’t accept that until I stop meds. There’s still 0.000000001% chance that it could work. DH is still full of hope.

I am sorry you’ve had a BFN. This sucks massively.

@Babyplease23 10 is great!!

@Melisss yes we are with the NHS, not sure why they don't give a day 3 update though. They definitely did 2 years ago when I did a round with them. The embryologist said they prefer to give facts rather than guesses, so would update me on the day of transfer instead. It feels like ages away haha! Good luck with your scan tomorrow!

Hey @User491 I've been thinking of you! So glad your egg collection went well and it sounds like you got good numbers too! I look forward to hearing about your day 3 update. I was unbelievably sore yesterday, I spent the whole day in and out of sleep, feeling sick and in pain. Feeling so much better today, a little bit of discomfort but it's very minor so I can't complain!

Lauralozzle · 02/11/2023 11:35

@User491 I think medichecks do at home progesterone blood tests. I’ve used them before for my underactive thyroid.

Lauralozzle · 02/11/2023 11:36

@Babyplease23 I’m with care and they don’t do them either. They have a do not disturb policy.

@IVFKinster thanks love, yes going to test again on 9 days (official test day) im attempting to make these today ! Wish me luck, I really need it !! https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/6896205671522190/

@Babyplease23 thank you. You must be thrilled with those numbers, mine were very similar and we got 3 good blasts at the end. Check with your clinic if they happy to do a fresh transfer with those numbers even if you don't show symptoms of OHSS. I had 24 eggs collected and they wouldn't do one even though I was fine. They didn't tell us till we got to the clinic for the transfer so I was really disappointed at the time that we had to wait. Bad form from our clinic but just incase its the same for you :)

@User491 thanks love appreciate it. Were you testing with a FRER then? On my last transfer I got a chemical at 6dpt so feels like it should of come up by now on a sensitive test.

I know your all right it is early, just trying to guard my heart for what feels like the inevitable. The last two November 2nds (2022 and 2021) I have been in hospital for ectopic pregnancies having emergency operations so felt kind of like fate that this test day fell around the same time, like it might work you know? 3rd time lucky etc. Stupid really, but we do tell ourselves things to get through don't we. Thanks for the thoughts all, back to Christmas music, decorations and ignoring work for the day!

Babyplease23 · 02/11/2023 11:40

@Lauralozzle Sounds like you're really clued up on your rights which is amazing. Also sounds like you've been through a lot and your body needs time to rest without the stress of work. I'd go for the full 2 weeks off if you can, it's so easy to get sucked into wanting to try again and power through, but sometimes you need to take the time to grieve the process too. Sending you lots of love, please take care of yourself! Xx

KI19 · 02/11/2023 11:43

@Lauralozzle thanks for explaining that, it makes total sense and you really should put yourself first at times like this. like @Babyplease23 said we can't always power through, time is needed to sit with it and let ourselves feel it. I hope you do take the two weeks and find some time for your body to rest, thinking of you 💓

Babyplease23 · 02/11/2023 11:44

@KI19 I'm really thrilled. We had similar numbers 2 years ago and also ended up with 3 blasts, so I'll be over the moon if we can achieve that again! The embryologist said they would judge the fresh transfer based on how I feel/symptoms and that they would scan me before transfer too. They said if the doctor scans me and isn't happy with how everything looks, they won't go ahead with the fresh transfer, so I'm trying to accept that this may be a possibility. I can't imagine how disappointed you must have felt with no prior communication about a possible freeze all before arriving at the clinic, that's very naughty of them!xx

IVFKinster · 02/11/2023 11:44

@Melisss I hope your scan goes okay! Try not to worry about not feeling anything 😊 I don't remember feeling a whole lot going on until a couple of days before egg collection. Goodluck!

I actually tested few days ago because I thought I was going to have some sort of mental health breakdown and was on the edge of a panic attack for most of the day. It was impacting my ability to work so I thought screw it and tested early. I didn't want to upset anyone as it was when others were getting negatives on tests and this process is so unfair and unjust. Tomorrow is the last day I'll test just to make sure it's going as it should. I'm only really sharing this because it might be helpful to give a bit of hope to people still waiting or not at that part yet, that it does work sometimes (at least initially anyway) and that it's such a pot luck situation. I hope this doesn't cause much upset.

IVFKinster · 02/11/2023 11:48

I used medichecks too for a thyroid test. Super simple and easy to do. I remember having a good impression when I used them.

KI19 · 02/11/2023 11:49

@IVFKinster not at all, i'm so happy to hear you have a positive to get cautiously excited about. Got everything crossed for you over the next few weeks 💕

Hopingforno2in2023 · 02/11/2023 11:50

Congrats @IVFKinster!

Definitely take the two weeks @Lauralozzle, they won’t be allowed to use it as a sickness trigger so make the most of the chance to rest.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 02/11/2023 11:51

I am also day 8 of stims @Melisss and don’t feel anything but my follicles were definitely growing at my scan yesterday :)

Melisss · 02/11/2023 11:51

@IVFKinster oh i am so happy to be reading this! Literally smilling at my screen while I am reading. 😁

But i totally understand what you are saying. I was thinking the other day that it is also hard to come and here and share positive news when you know other are not in the same situation. I know I am happy to read positive stories but don t want to assume it is the same for everyone.

Lauralozzle · 02/11/2023 11:51

@IVFKinster Congratulations! That’s wonderful news 🎉
