FET/IVF/ICSI - October 2033

Lauralozzle · 23/09/2023 13:09

Anyone due to start cycle/have transfer in October jump on board!

Little history:

TTC our first. Trying for 4 years. Officially unexplained but I only have one ovary that responds/works. Fertilisation issues. Positive Sperm Oxidative Stress Test (likely DNA Frag). So it’s really a bit of a mix.

Dec 22/Jan 23 - First ICSI cycle. 8 eggs, 6 mature, 2 fertilised. One poor blast to transfer. Nothing to freeze. BFN.

July 23 - Second ICSI cycle. Using AOA & ZyMot chip. 8 eggs, 8 mature, 4 fertilised. One fresh to transfer and 2 to freeze. BFN.

Oct 23 - First FET scheduled.

Currently waiting for my period to start so that FET cycle can start. Should start beginning of Oct, so FET likely towards end of the month.

I got excited just reading the transfer updates here!

My last one was a terrible experience (shockingly worse that the first one with NHS!) The doctor appeared confused, kept blabbering on/talking to herself. My bladder was near explosion and she kept pushing the ultrasound thing on it trying to get a picture, and when she's finally done she gave me the picture and said "you can't see anything but here's the picture" 😡It was a euploid too so I honestly don't know (and won't know) if she even did it properly. A doctor's assurance is everything during a transfer!

All the best to everyone in the TWW 🍀

I get another scan tomorrow and should find out when collection is then!

SunsetsAndSandwiches · 24/10/2023 17:20

Hi everyone,

Sorry to join late but I have just read through the last few pages of the thread and found it really helpful to hear about your experiences.

I'm on day 10 of my first attempt at IVF. Had 6 rounds of ovulation induction previously but only had 3 ovulations (and one was early and one late), so didn't have high hopes for the day 10 scan today. Thankfully it was good news and I had 20 follicles 16mm and above, so buserelin trigger at 10pm tonight and collection booked for Thursday.

I have PCOS, so high AMH is to thank for the high numbers, I just hope most of those follicles do have mature eggs.

We will be having ICSI and then freezing due to OHSS risk. We will probably have FET in January now as we decided to book a holiday for early Dec - hoping it will be a lovely break after a rough year of disappointment and hopefully our last chance for holiday cocktails as a two.

I'm currently not too bad symptoms wise, a few low abdomen/lower back twinges and a bit bloated. Has anyone here had OHSS? Did you already feel unwell pre egg collection or did the symptoms start afterwards?

Keeping my fingers crossed there are lots of happy outcomes for everyone here, and I'm sorry to those who are already out of the running this time round 💐

MoonlightDreamer · 24/10/2023 17:51

Out of curiosity girls, when they say day 5 transfer .. is that including retrieval day? Or does it start the day after?
For example today was retrieval.. would my day 5 be Saturday or Sunday

IVFKinster · 24/10/2023 18:07

@Hopingforno2in2023 sorry if you've said before but is that different to what you've done in the past or the same? Come on AF! 🤞

@marshk totally understandable! Try to keep yourself as calm as you can. At least not too long a journey on an empty tummy. This time tomorrow it'll be behind you! Looking forward to your update!

@4thcyclelucky that sounds like a terrible experience and a terrible doctor! I hope your scan goes well tomorrow!

@SunsetsAndSandwiches hello 😊 I had mild OHSS symptoms that started the day after collection. Very swollen exhausted for a week, kept napping after any activity, struggled to move and was in pain. I felt 'full' but fine until after collection. Fingers crossed you don't get OHSS. Drink lots of water, have lots of protein, make sure you let your clinic know if you're worried.

@MoonlightDreamer egg collection is day 0! So the day after is day 1 etc.

IVFKinster · 24/10/2023 18:08

@MoonlightDreamer that would make Sunday day 5.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 24/10/2023 18:13

Red spotting has appeared! Hopefully tomorrow will be CD1!

Protocol is same as last time @IVFKinster but I didn’t have to delay my period last time so first time with norothisterone.

zoo18 · 24/10/2023 18:40

Hello everyone

Just jumping on this, had my egg retrieval today been advised frozen transfer as needed a longer time on medication as didn't respond as quickly as expected but got there in the end. Hopefully can have frozen transfer before end of year but have really irregular cycles and it's all new to me this frozen process. Will have follow up with consultant in couple of weeks. Wanted to join thread and say hello and share experiences with those going through similar

Quickdraw23 · 24/10/2023 18:58

@GabbyGal sorry to hear you had a bad transfer experience, got everything crossed for a good test day experience etc make up for it. And please please don’t worry/apologise! I didn’t feel at at offended or excluded! I only mentioned it as I thought it was interesting that even as another woman my partner has still found lots of this difficult to relate to.

congrats @IVFDublin and @IVFKinster on transfers and delicious McD lunches 😊

hope you feel better soon @Lauralozzle

fingers crossed for your 7 eggs @MoonlightDreamer hope you’re recovering well

good luck for tomorrow @marshk !

SunsetsAndSandwiches · 24/10/2023 19:10

@IVFKinster thank you for sharing advice re OHSS, I am going to stock up on a few salty snacks and plan some protein based meals as well as getting some Lucozade sport and some nice cordials to keep me drinking. Hopefully that will reduce it! Hope you're feeling well post-transfer.

NewBee21 · 24/10/2023 21:02

Hi everyone,

I am having my first egg collection tomorrow and I am feeling so anxious.

On the last scan one of the follicles was 30mm, 5 were around 12-15 and 10 others were smaller.

Because it's my first cycle I don't know what to expect.

I feel like I had much higher expectations. I am 33 and my amh is 22 which I think is ok for my age?

I am so scared they won't collect any eggs.

Has anyone else had a big follicle?

Am I even supposed to have egg collection with these results?

Thank you!

SunsetsAndSandwiches · 24/10/2023 22:21

Hi @NewBee21 hopefully someone else can give you more helpful advice re the follicle sizes. I had my day 10 scan today and they said they were counting the ones 16-22mm and I'm booked for egg collection on Thursday (day 12), was your latest scan yesterday or earlier?
Based on what the doctor said to me, numbers of eggs in the high teens/twenties is normal for women with PCOS but not what they would necessarily expect for other women so please don't feel you've not got a good number.
Hope you get a good sleep and good luck with collection tomorrow x

4thcyclelucky · 25/10/2023 06:59

@NewBee21 I remember someone saying they will focus on the ‘growing’ ones if 1 is way ahead.

I asked the doctor if my gonal-f should be increased at my last scan too so the rest can catch up (I also have 1 super follicle that didn’t even have an egg at last collection) and she said no as bloods indicate things are progressing according to plan. Sounds like you have plenty catching up so the focus is probably on them. Good luck!

Going for my day 10 scan now, hoping I can trigger tonight.

Sending well wishes to all ❤

biscuitsndtea · 25/10/2023 07:03

Good morning, my egg collection today.

I forgetfully ate a bit of food- just a bite while cooking breakfast :( ah, how forgetful i have been

Will that cause any problem? I was fasting from yesterday night:(

4thcyclelucky · 25/10/2023 07:07

Also meant to ask if anyone is having weird stomach discomfort? It was bloated the last 3 times but never painful.. the pain is bearable but rather sharp and kinda have to push on the spot to sooth is.. also felt a bit of heart burn yesterday. I will ask the doctor today too.

Lauralozzle · 25/10/2023 08:00

@Hopingforno2in2023 Fingers crossed your period has decided to arrive after the spotting!

Hello and welcome to everyone who is new!

Good luck for those with egg collections.

I’m struggling to keep up with the thread at the moment I have a head cold from hell - hopefully it sorts itself out in the next few days. Think DH has it too.

I have booked next week off, it’ll be bang smack in the middle of the 2WW and when I usually start spotting so I’m glad I can deal with that without working.

4thcyclelucky · 25/10/2023 08:16

@biscuitsndtea let them know, they make you fast so you don’t vomit and choke under sedation (is my understanding). Good luck!

I have to go back for another scan tmr, it seems my follicles are growing slower this time. I wonder if it’s because of the estradiol priming… anyone done this before?

GabbyGal · 25/10/2023 08:41

@biscuitsndtea @marshk @NewBee21 good luck with egg collection today!

@IVFDublin I can’t believe you had the same experience as me and had to partially empty your bladder! It’s awful isn’t it?! Hope you enjoyed the McDonalds and are feeling good today. You too @ivfkinster 😊

@Lauralozzle hope you’re feeling better today?

@4thcyclelucky sorry your last transfer was so awful, mine was different but just as bad. If I have to go through it all again the transfer will be the only part I’ll be dreading 🙈 Good luck with the scan today.

@SunsetsAndSandwiches welcome, hope you’re feeling ok today and not too bloated, but at least it’s only one more day until collection.

@Quickdraw23 😘

Lauralozzle · 25/10/2023 08:59

@GabbyGal - I’m still feeling rough, but I’m WFH today so that’s a bit easier, to be fair.

@biscuitsndtea I’d tell your clinic because the nil my mouth is to do with the sedation. Good luck today.

@marshk & @NewBee21 Good luck today.

I hope everyone is okay, whichever stage you’re at. I’ve looked when our OTD is - our wedding anniversary on 5th Nov. Think it’s safe to say I’ll be testing before then!

OP posts:
marshk · 25/10/2023 09:25

Thanks everyone! All done. I was first on the list. My last scan showed 13 large enough follicles but they managed to get 19 eggs! Obvs probably not all mature but pleased with that.

The sleep was divine 😴

Maddie23 · 25/10/2023 09:38

Amazing result @marshk ! Hope you have a nice relaxed day today!

Good luck @biscuitsndtea and @NewBee21 for your egg collection!

GabbyGal · 25/10/2023 09:56

That’s great @marshk!

Hopingforno2in2023 · 25/10/2023 09:57

So glad it went so well @marshk!

Good luck @biscuitsndtea and @NewBee21

Still waiting for the spotting to become full flow. Considering wearing something white to encourage it 😂

Lauralozzle · 25/10/2023 10:00

@marshk That’s excellent news!

@Hopingforno2in2023 Wearing white will definitely encourage it but you don’t want to ruin your clothes!!

OP posts:
GabbyGal · 25/10/2023 10:03

@Lauralozzle Keep yourself wrapped up warm and well hydrated. So much easier if you can WFH when you feel unwell. WFH was not allowed at all in my job before Covid so it’s the one good thing to come from that awful time.

My appointment for my beta HCG test is on 6th Nov. I’ll definitely test before that but I haven’t decided whether I will test before the wedding on the 3rd (assuming I’m not already out of the running by then.. fingers crossed!)

I’m still a bit crampy and boobs have been sore since the morning after my trigger shots so I feel it’s going to be hard to symptom spot!

GabbyGal · 25/10/2023 10:04

@Hopingforno2in2023 wear something white and absolutely do not have any period products on hand. That should do it 😂
