FET/IVF/ICSI - October 2033

Lauralozzle · 23/09/2023 13:09

Anyone due to start cycle/have transfer in October jump on board!

Little history:

TTC our first. Trying for 4 years. Officially unexplained but I only have one ovary that responds/works. Fertilisation issues. Positive Sperm Oxidative Stress Test (likely DNA Frag). So it’s really a bit of a mix.

Dec 22/Jan 23 - First ICSI cycle. 8 eggs, 6 mature, 2 fertilised. One poor blast to transfer. Nothing to freeze. BFN.

July 23 - Second ICSI cycle. Using AOA & ZyMot chip. 8 eggs, 8 mature, 4 fertilised. One fresh to transfer and 2 to freeze. BFN.

Oct 23 - First FET scheduled.

Currently waiting for my period to start so that FET cycle can start. Should start beginning of Oct, so FET likely towards end of the month.

@Lauralozzle thankyou for the welcome 🙂. Hope the call goes well when you get it. Its so nerve wracking waiting. Good idea on the flexileave. Apart from attending a few meetings today my mind really isn't at work.

@GabbyGal sorry to hear your news, but as everyone says it only takes one, everything crossed for you. So exciting to be transferring.

Does anyone know how much anxiety can affect things? Since my friend's pregnancy announcement this weekend I've been struggling. Going to book in with my clinic's counsellor and try to sort things out. Have a worry that it won't work if I'm stressed- which is probably stupid because we're all stressed whilst we're doing this 😅

User491 · 23/10/2023 13:40

Hi everyone,

Wow this moves fast!

Good luck @Lauralozzle for transfer today, so exciting

Good luck to you all who have transfers this week!

I'm currently on day 4 of stims, scan again on Thursday to see how things are looking 🤞🏻
I've kept up going to the gym, hard to know whether I should be doing it or not, but I feel better for getting up and in there, so for my own sanity I wanted to carry on. I have done the same on the other cycles, but this one feels a bit more important.

Babyplease23 · 23/10/2023 16:02

You ladies are a bad influence... All this talk about steak and I've booked my favourite steak restaurant for tomorrow night. Hopefully it'll be my last for a while!

Hope your transfer went well today @GabbyGal I've been keeping everything crossed for you!

Started stims yesterday, went better than I remember previously, iced before hand and didn't even feel the needle going in. Hopefully it wasn't just a fluke and it continues being easy 🤣🤞

Lauralozzle · 23/10/2023 16:42

@marshk I had dual trigger. I took 0.5ml of buserelin immediately followed by 5000 gonasi. I think a full buserelin trigger would be 1 ml and full gonasi trigger is 10,000 so it’s like half and half!

Lauralozzle · 23/10/2023 16:47

So, I never got a thaw update. Apparently no news is good news.

Transfer all done. Went for Nando’s on the way back.

My progesterone was low (31 needed to be over 45 on my protocol because of early bleeds last time) so I’ve got lubion to add to the mix now!

Oh my numbers are slightly different I think I'm doing one gonasi 5000 and then 2ml of buserelin @Lauralozzle

Ah fingers crossed for you now transfer has happened 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 @Lauralozzle

Maddie23 · 23/10/2023 16:53

🤞for you @Lauralozzle and @GabbyGal !

Melisss · 23/10/2023 17:02

@Lauralozzle and @GabbyGal sending good vibes for you ladies! 🙌How exciting 😀

MoonlightDreamer · 23/10/2023 17:20

Wishing you lots of luck @Lauralozzle

Lauralozzle · 23/10/2023 09:34

I apologise in advance for anyone I’ve missed! You are all very welcome here!

@Maddie23 - I haven’t said hello yet! So hello! 👋 Good luck with stims!

@IVFDublin - how are you getting on? Have you had an update on your 3 embryos?

@GabbyGal - fingers and toes crossed for your embryo! Happy transfer day!!

@IVFKinster - I hope you’re feeling better. I’ve struggled a bit with the progesterone.

@Elkly88 - Welcome 🤗 I honestly hate pregnancy announcements, I totally get how you feel!

Virtual cheers to all of us drinking wine and eating rare steak as a last hurrah!!!

I’m waiting for the dreaded call. Will it have survived the thaw? Argh. I don’t even know what time to expect a call! I’m trying to work this morning but honestly, I’m bricking it and can’t really concentrate.

Hello,

sorry being very cheeky here quoting your post as you listed everyone so helpfully! I have been absent in posting but have checked in every couple of days.

just wanted to wish everyone well!

I am 6dp5dt (FET) at the moment and have been managing it by being so busy I can only have fleeting thoughts about ivf! I do wonder about doing too much (dash around a hospital department all day!), but the doc who did my transfer advised me to carry on as normal as possible and even not to worry about doing gentle exercise if it’s within what I would normally do.

they upped my progesterone this time as two previous BFNs. No test or anything, just a bit of a shot in the dark, but I’m now on 4x200mg utrogestan instead of 3. Nurse said I can do 2x2. Does anyone else have a progesterone schedule like this?

@Lauralozzle i see you had your transfer today - congrats! Nando’s on the way home sounds perfect!

best wishes everyone!

Lauralozzle · 23/10/2023 17:59

Thanks everyone. Quite an eventful day! Dreading the lubion. One injection a day- it’s going to be so expensive but hopefully, it’s the missing piece!

I’ve written the clinic a slightly snarky email. Maybe it’s my emotions. My video of the embryo is the same video as my previous failed transfer. Not particularly happy about that. Hopefully they clear that up.

OP posts:
IVFKinster · 23/10/2023 18:22

Oh no @Lauralozzle I'm sorry they've sent you the wrong video! I'm honestly not finding the lubion too bad but I'm doing it into fat instead of muscle - which do you need to do? Congratulations on your transfer ♥️

I'm wondering for those who have had transfers, how do your partners feel? Ours is at 10:30 tomorrow and my husband is a bit.. not bothered I guess (although that sounds worse than it feels)... Like, he's more nervous or excited about OTD but appears a bit disconnected from tomorrow? I'm excited/nervous/worried and feel a bit sick and he's just like yep part of the process fingers crossed for a pregnancy at the end where as I'm like technically tomorrow I WILL be pregnant even if it doesn't stick about? I'm struggling with not being on the same page as normally we're really in sync.

IVFKinster · 23/10/2023 18:25

@Quickdraw23 congratulations on your transfer. It's good to keep busy I think and each to their own on what works best for getting through the difficult waiting period.
My progesterone hasn't been tested and I've not had any previous transfers but they've put me on 2x400mg cyclogest pessaries and 25mg lubion injection everyday. I've no idea if that's helpful information but didn't want to not reply!

GabbyGal · 23/10/2023 18:29

Hi ladies, thanks for all the well wishes and good vibes. Transfer all done, embryo on board!

@Lauralozzleglad your embryo made it through the thaw to transfer. We had McDonalds on the way home! It’s nice that your clinic give you a video (we just got a scan pic), I’m sure it’s just an admin error and they’ll send the right one tomorrow.

@IVFDublinbest of luck tomorrow! FYI your bladder shouldn’t be too full. They were running behind today so I was absolutely bursting for a pee by the time they called us in so I had to partially empty my bladder which was not easy!

@marshk mine was a dual trigger shot too, buserelin and otrivelle.

@Quickdraw23 how are you feeling? I’m dreading the TWW now. Are you going to test early or wait for the blood test? I ordered a few tests today because I know I won’t be able to wait.

@Babyplease23 I found the trick for me with stims was to stick it in quickly, any hesitation and it hurt way more.

@Elkly88 sorry to hear that you’re struggling. Definitely avail of counselling services if they’re available, it certainly can’t hurt.

IVFKinster · 23/10/2023 18:30

Happy transfer day @GabbyGal very traditional getting a McDonald's! 😊♥️

Lauralozzle · 23/10/2023 18:38

@GabbyGal Right, that’s both of us PUPO today! Fingers crossed, for us both.

@IVFKinster I think my DH would rather not know. He is still very upset about our failed two transfers and I’m just a bit numb to it all. So we’re not feeling this transfer in the same way. I’m very pragmatic on my thought process, it’s not that I don’t care, I do. I was very upset after first failed and emotionally I’ve been a bit hard since.

@User491 Lovely to hear from you!!!!! Hope you’re getting on ok now that you’ve started stims.

OP posts:
GabbyGal · 23/10/2023 18:43

@IVFKinster haha yep, my husband thought I was nuts when I told him there was a rule that we had to get McDonald’s on transfer day.

IVFDublin · 23/10/2023 18:45

I’m very excited for tomorrow now! Transfer booked in at lunchtime. All feels very surreal!! Thanks for the advice re: bladder @GabbyGal - I don’t know if my muscles are strong enough for a partial empty 😂

@GabbyGal @Lauralozzle youve also inspired me, I’m going to get something delicious tomorrow on my way home too!! So exciting you have your transfers done, now the easy part of the wait🙃

@marshk i had a dual too - I just did one after the other!

@Babyplease23 id say the injections will continue being easy! The only thing I had was I started getting a bit bruised but the idea of it all was way worse than the reality tbh!

GabbyGal · 23/10/2023 19:53

@Lauralozzle yes two of us PUPO today and we’ll be 4 after @IVFDublin and @IVFKinster have their transfers tomorrow. Best of luck ladies, here’s hoping for lots of sticky embryos!

@IVFKinster I think it’s harder for the men sometimes to feel as connected to the process as we do because we’re the ones that have to go through most of it. I sometimes get frustrated that my husband relies on me to explain every step rather than informing himself.

ViVRe · 23/10/2023 20:05

@GabbyGal 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 sending sticky baby vibes your way 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 @Lauralozzle you too, sorry to hear about the wrong video situation, that is upsetting…it is completely understandable that you feel a bit numb to everything by now, I hope you know you can count on this little circle, no matter the outcome…I’m glad you are still doing nice things for yourself during the process. I’ve heard of Lubion, hope it’s not too bad and you get on fine with it. Here is to a successful and hopefully, non-stressful TWW for you ladies 🥂

@IVFDublin @IVFKinster so excited for you two tomorrow as well. I hope all goes smoothly 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Re. Husbands and Partners not being on the same page as us during the transfer (or during process for that matter) I understand how that can be upsetting but I also am mindful that people experience things differently…not only emotionally but physically, no wonder many of us feel the whole IVF process can be so lonely sometimes. Most times partners are not injecting themselves and doing all this prep that is required to us ladies prior to a big transfer day, I don’t know if that sentiment of connection changes after the first BFP you ever get in your life, or if that “excitement” also changes when losses are recurrent for the couple 😔 In other instances, I’ve heard some men say they only felt connected once the baby arrived really. Regardless, I do believe it is important to keep open dialogue with your partners and check in with each others emotions frequently, as we all know how stressful this whole process can be on relationships.

Sending ❤️ to you all!

Gosh that is really awful @Lauralozzle - don't blame you for the snarky email!

4thcyclelucky · 23/10/2023 20:42

Sending best wishes to all doing collections and transfers. ❤️cannot keep up with the updates so pardon the umbrella message 😅

@Lauralozzle can I ask if lubion was prescribed? Or did you requested for it? I have had 2 miscarriages now and lubion was mentioned by the nurse last time. And that is poor sending the wrong video.

Also, anyone has experience with both progesterone: cyclogest and Utrogestan? I have only ever had cyclogest and was given the other as an option this time. Not sure which one is better?

it’s day 9 for me tmr and have another scan on wed. So I’m anticipating a collection later this week.

Quickdraw23 · 23/10/2023 20:43

@IVFKinster thanks for sharing re progesterone, it is helpful to know that there are various different prescriptions out there!

re partners - my partner is another woman and she has been great, always there to listen and really patient, but has acknowledged that the process does feel quite abstract for her because she’s not physically going through it herself. When I was doing my stimulated cycle earlier this year she kept forgetting that I was tied to the house certain times for the injections, and didn’t really want guests around in the evenings while I was injecting! After a bit of emphasis on what was actually going on for me she did get it a bit more.

Good luck for tomorrow! Got everything crossed for you.

@GabbyGal congrats on your transfer! I hope you’re feeling ok. I feel alright thank you, though have reached a point where I am getting a lot of twinges in my lower abdomen and lower back which experience tells me is from the progesterone. I’m trying not to read too much into physical symptoms. Mentally this TWW has been the least brooding so far, which has been better. Keeping really busy with work, house jobs and hobbies has been really helpful for me. My first transfer landed during a week I was on annual leave with no plans, it was awful! How I feel after my test remains to be seen 🫣

I am a bit torn on what to do for OTD. My clinic don’t do bloods, it’s just a home pregnancy test 11 days post transfer. I will be at a birthday meal that evening, and don’t want to have to put on a brave face all evening if it’s not the result I’m hoping for. So either test a day before to give me 36 hours to get used to the outcome, or hold out for the following day. Don’t know what to do!

good luck tomorrow @IVFDublin ! Re the bladder thing I will second the advice you had. On this transfer I went to the loo about an hour before my appointment, then drank 750ml slowly over the course of that hour. By far the most comfortable transfer so far! (Although I acknowledge everyone’s bladder capacity is different!) wishing you well!

@Lauralozzle so sorry to hear that happened! Really hope it gets sorted out!

MoonlightDreamer · 23/10/2023 20:58

My egg retrieval is in 12 hours ladies arrrgh. Have you any advice to offer?
I honestly just can't wait until its over so I can pig out

IVFKinster · 23/10/2023 21:17

@MoonlightDreamer how exciting! How are you feeling physically? I think the only advice is to try to remain calm and forgive yourself when you completely lose your mind instead. My actual collection was a lovely peaceful nap! So look forward to that 😊 and then lots of calm afterwards. Hydrate lots and try to eat lots of protein to help with any post collection bloat.
