FET/IVF/ICSI - October 2033

Lauralozzle · 23/09/2023 13:09

Anyone due to start cycle/have transfer in October jump on board!

Little history:

TTC our first. Trying for 4 years. Officially unexplained but I only have one ovary that responds/works. Fertilisation issues. Positive Sperm Oxidative Stress Test (likely DNA Frag). So it’s really a bit of a mix.

Dec 22/Jan 23 - First ICSI cycle. 8 eggs, 6 mature, 2 fertilised. One poor blast to transfer. Nothing to freeze. BFN.

July 23 - Second ICSI cycle. Using AOA & ZyMot chip. 8 eggs, 8 mature, 4 fertilised. One fresh to transfer and 2 to freeze. BFN.

Oct 23 - First FET scheduled.

Currently waiting for my period to start so that FET cycle can start. Should start beginning of Oct, so FET likely towards end of the month.

@MoonlightDreamer oh gosh...that sounds intense. why was he so brutal with the scan. Is it usually like this?
Maybe the left one decides to pick up until Sunday... but 10 follicles is good :)

@Alisha1990 fingers crossed 3 is the magic number :) it`s only my first time going through IVF but I already feel overwhelmed so I understand where you are coming from.

Lauralozzle · 17/10/2023 15:45

@ViVRe If this transfer is successful I’ll have to take the estradiol and progesterone until 10 weeks from embryo transfer!! 😬

This is first time with bum bullets. After my fresh transfers I had vaginal only pessaries which were tiny and used an applicator with them like a tampon.

I’m glad you’re recovering well ❤️

@marshk I found Ganirelix was a little itchy afterwards for about ten minutes and was a bit red. Went down within an hour though. I had a bit of a reaction with buserelin - I literally came up in scabs where I’d been injected. Looked like a horrible rash all across my lower abdomen.

@Alisha1990 Good luck! Not had a day 3 transfer so far so can’t help with that. You’re a bit ahead of me, I’m down for transfer on Monday.

@MoonlightDreamer That sounds good! My right ovary does nothing. It’s tiny and doesn’t respond at all. My leftie does all the work!! I’m sorry the scan was painful though. They’ve tried all sorts looking for my right ovary during stims, they’re always shocked by how small it is!

Bum bullets start tomorrow. Mondays going to slowly creep up on me!

That sounds like a good number of follicles @MoonlightDreamer

My meds arrived today and included norethisterone which I wasn’t expecting. Called the clinic and turns out I was supposed to start taking it yesterday but no one told me. So have started today. Feels exciting to really be getting going.

MoonlightDreamer · 17/10/2023 18:00

@Melisss no its not usually painful at all. For some reason my left ovary just didnt want to cooperate at the scan.

@Hopingforno2in2023 oh no that's fustrating when that happens. Thankfully my clinic are very prompt and great with communication
I had to take noristherone aswell
Ivf meds - no bother
Noristherone - never want to take it again

IVFDublin · 17/10/2023 18:58

I’m laughing with all this talk of bum bullets 😂though I suspect I won’t be if / when my time comes…!

I’m taking my trigger shot tonight and then all going well would have a transfer either Sunday (day 3) or Tuesday (day 5). I am so ready to be done with stims - I was fine up until the last day or two but I feel so bloated and tender, it’s so uncomfortable!!

@Hopingforno2in2023 ahh good luck getting started! Great to be excited, fingers crossed for a nice smooth journey (other than the clinic forgetting to tell you about your meds 🤦🏻‍♀️)

@MoonlightDreamer sorry to hear you had such an awful scan! It’ll all be worth it in the end though. And I agree - I hated Norethisterone. I was moody and slept terribly but equally I was nervous about it all kicking off so who knows what was to blame…!

@Alisha1990 good luck! Sending lots of positive vibes. This is my first time but I can only imagine the mental hell that comes with the TWW

MoonlightDreamer · 17/10/2023 19:21

I cant imagine the back passage would be comfortable.
I wouldn't dare put them up my backside.
Wouldn't want OH to get ideas .
I've been prescribed crinone progesterone gel. I'm not sure how that works. Is that different to the bullets?

You end up having conversations you never thought you would have 😂 I'm not sure if I could do the back passage but I'm sure you'd get used to it?!?

Ganirelix bump has now gone just a bit of a bruise! Apparently it can cause a localised reaction

biscuitsndtea · 17/10/2023 19:52

@MoonlightDreamer I am on my day 5 of my stimming today :)

biscuitsndtea · 17/10/2023 19:55

I had my first scan to check if everything is ok , they said the follicle count was good in the scan.
But later got a phone saying that I need to increase the dosage of drugs. Not sure why they need to increase the drug dosage when the number of follicles were ok.

Now my treatment plan is altered to have scan on my day 8 instead of day 9. I have to move my office appointments according to it now. I should be ready for a roller coaster week 😆

Hopingforno2in2023 · 17/10/2023 19:59

Yeah I have heard horror stories @MoonlightDreamer so a bit nervous!

Great that you had a good follicle count @biscuitsndtea

MoonlightDreamer · 17/10/2023 20:14

@biscuitsndtea thats great. How are you feeling ?
I had my scan today aswell.
They told me they were going to increase my dose and sent me off to pick up more meds but then changed their minds and are now keeping me on same dose 🤷‍♀️
They did bloods and for whatever reason that changed the idea to up the dose.
I'm terrified I'm going to ovulate as I'm getting loads of ecwm 😬 tmi 😊 I'd be due to ovulate Saturday. I just hope the cetrotide will do its job at suppressing ovulation. That would be a nightmare

Lauralozzle · 17/10/2023 20:17

@MoonlightDreamer @IVFDublin I agree. Norethisterone is bloody awful. I don’t know what contractions feel like, but I imagine in my head something akin to the horrendous cramps norethisterone gave me when my period. I was actually doubled over!

@IVFDublin Trigger time! Injection free day tomorrow!

@biscuitsndtea They increased my dose during stims. Started out on a fairly low dose and they upped it after my first scan. Best collection I’ve had to date!On stims for slightly longer overall but it definitely seemed to suit me better. Maybe those follicles just need a little push to grow!

IVFKinster · 17/10/2023 20:41

@KI19 how did your scan go today? 🤞

@MoonlightDreamer oof so early then such a brutal scan! ☹️ Glad your follicles are looking good though. Loads of EWCM is normal! I basically felt like I was ovulating the whole time I was on stims.

@ViVRe I was the same! I didn't know anything about the FET process and was surprised! I think pessaries are fairly standard but some can be used vaginally. I'm sure there are also alternatives if needed 😊 glad you're recovering well and I hope, being extra kind to yourself!

I'm not at that stage yet but everything crossed for you @Alisha1990 🤞🤞

Goodluck with the trigger shot @ivfdublin! I definitely found the last couple of days difficult. Not long to go for you now!

@biscuitsndtea I wouldn't worry! They probably just want to give the existing ones a push.

@Hopingforno2in2023 hooray medication has arrived! All go now then!

Keeping up with this thread takes some serious memory and organisation, sorry if I'm ignoring anyone or haven't said hello to someone new.

I weirdly feel okay about using the pessaries. They're not very big and based on the ones for egg collection before/after I'm not concerned about them being uncomfortable. I hope talking about them hasn't worried anyone! If you can do injections then pessaries are easy peasy in comparison 😊

KI19 · 17/10/2023 21:13

Thanks @IVFKinster lining at 7.3mm so need a few more days, bit dissapointed as seem a bit behind where I was on the last FET and on more estrogen this time. Having a glass of wine tonight after not drinking all month...! Glad the pessaries are going well, I didn't find them too bad.

Glad this board is here, feels like it may be a long month.

IVFKinster · 17/10/2023 21:33

7.3mm isn't far off at all @KI19 . I absolutely get the disappointment but your lining is on the right path and will get there. Enjoy your glass of wine lovely 🍷I am absolutely craving a glass of prosecco or Chardonnay. What's your wine of choice??

I haven't actually started the pessaries yet 😂 Thursday for me! I was just trying to reassure people they're nothing to freak out about IMO as don't want to worry anyone 😊

biscuitsndtea · 17/10/2023 22:10

Thanks all for your lovely replies xx I am feeling reassured now :)

Lolly2507 · 17/10/2023 22:12

@MoonlightDreamer I had a similar issue where one of my ovaries went walkies. Up until then I didn't even know they were mobile haha but it soon returned to where it needed to be in time for egg collection! Sorry it was so brutal

Youre so right @KI19 think this has been the longest 2 months of my life! Do your clinic want you up to 8mm?

Lauralozzle · 18/10/2023 08:10

@KI19 Your lining is nearly there! I am a tad envious of your glass of wine!

OP posts:
KI19 · 18/10/2023 08:18

@IVFKinster @Lauralozzle @Lolly2507 yes they want me to get up to 8mm which I only just hit last time, hoping its there for the scan tomorrow. Yes I had a little glass of red and GU pot, and it did make me feel lots better, haha! Refocus today :)

Hope all goes well for people with scans and drugs today. 🙏

Babyplease23 · 18/10/2023 11:34

Scan went well yesterday. Lining was good and ovaries were "quiet" as they wanted them to be so that's reassuring! Now to just waiting for the dreaded post norethisterone period (I've always suffered horrendous periods after taking norethisterone previously!) Fingers crossed I'll be starting injections on Sunday. Never thought I'd be looking forward to stabbing myself with a needle so much 🤣

GabbyGal · 18/10/2023 13:15

Hi all, I haven’t posted since early on in the thread but have been following along/lurking in the background! It’s been really helpful to see how other people are getting on as this is my first round. I’m on day 9 of stims, have found it ok so far, thought I would be feeling awful by now. Although sounds like I’m lucky I didn’t have to take norethisterone, sorry to hear that’s been rough on some of you. I had a scan this morning and all looks good, I’m waiting on a call from the clinic to confirm whether we’ll be doing egg collection on Friday or holding off until Monday.

@IVFDublin I assume based on your username you’re in Dublin.. me too! And not far behind you by the sounds of it.

4thcyclelucky · 18/10/2023 13:47

hi all - can I jump on this thread?

4th treatment cycle started few days ago, had my first scan this morning after 2 days of gonal-F 225. They were a bit unclear but I think I saw 12 follicles on my right and 4 on my left recorded on the computer.. she kept saying 'small' and I dont remember the sizes recorded..

1st cycle - 16 mature eggs on the NHS, they didnt do ICSI so only 4 ferilised
2nd - 10 mature eggs, 4 fertilised
3rd - 4 eggs, 1 fertilised

A bit worried about the numbers as I see a pattern there! Any similar experiences on here?

I have done 1 fresh transfer under NHS, implanted but lost at 5 weeks and 1 frozen PGTA euploid transfer, did not implant at second cycle. I have the 1 3-day frozen at the moment from my third cycle.

Thanks in advance!

biscuitsndtea · 18/10/2023 14:50

@4thcyclelucky welcome :) no previous experience but wishing you lots of luck ××

biscuitsndtea · 18/10/2023 14:51

I am on my cd7. Day 5 of trigger. My tummy feels funny and heavy suddenly. Did anyone else felt the same?

Melisss · 18/10/2023 15:07

@4thcyclelucky welcome! 😊Only on my first ever IVF cycle so can t offer any advice but I am sure some of the ladies on here know more

@GabbyGal sounds like everything is running as it should be. nice to hear from people who don`t really have side effects from IVF (there is hope yet)
Good luck on the egg collection 😊
