Hi there, I start my medication for a fresh IVF round in September. Im not the best at navigating mumsnet and wondering if there are any groups set up for people starting around the same time? X

@Natasha90 what incredible news!! Congratulations 🥰

StormsPassIVF · 14/09/2023 19:21

@fsr111 mine developed slowly and they increased my dose after each scan.

on my final scan - 2 days before collection only one was the right size.

Then on the collection day it all worked out ok.

Huge good luck for your scan tomorrow 🤞

Natasha90 · 14/09/2023 19:34

@StormsPassIVF honestly I was gob snacked I just got in the car for work.

Just waiting to see if I can just have the 1 bleed.

How are you getting on?
How is everyone else, hope your all holding out ok 🩷

StormsPassIVF · 14/09/2023 19:41

@Natasha90 I love this!!

Getting on well thanks 😊 Transfer was yesterday so was back to the office today.
We had a very lucky first cycle and ended up also with 2 frosties (one day 5 and one day 6)

Im almost 39 so we opted for 3 cycles with Access Fertility as my egg quality will have declined with age, so I am keeping my expectations in check and not getting my hopes up too soon.

Natasha90 · 14/09/2023 19:44

@StormsPassIVF
How did you feel after transfer i havnt even got that far as of yet.
Everything crossed for you.

I think I'm going to have my few days away with hubs and then go again. We fly on the 30th September x

StormsPassIVF · 14/09/2023 19:48

@Natasha90 felt absolutely fine after transfer. I guess I felt no different than before as the procedure was painless.

You are also distracted as you are watching the ultrasound screen during.

Hope you have a lovely holiday in preparation for your frostie transfer

fsr111 · 14/09/2023 19:57

Thanks for sharing that @StormsPassIVF, that makes me feel better. Such a rollercoaster of a ride. Can I ask; after transfer have you been advised to try and take things easy? I have quite a physical job and I'm anxious about that if we get that far.
Totally agree about it being hard to keep a level head about the process when it's quite all consuming @JadeAC.
That's such great news @Natasha90 - you must have been so surprised!

StormsPassIVF · 14/09/2023 20:02

@fsr111 they said just go do normal things. Maintain normal exercise regime but nothing new. No heavy weightlifting, no baths, hot tubs.

My problem is I do heavy weightlifting 😂 so none of that for a while.

Def ask your doctors when the time comes as they may advise differently.

Im listening to my body at the moment and it just wants to do walking for now 🙂

fsr111 · 15/09/2023 07:04

Thanks @StormsPassIVF - keeping absolutely everything crossed for you!

GwenH82 · 15/09/2023 10:19

Had scan 2 this morning. I only have two follicles the right size. Waiting for a call this afternoon to see if I'm going to go with stims for a couple more days to bring a possible third up to size or if I'll have collection on Monday.
Feeling a bit low to be honest today. I know it only takes one and all that and my chances were so low anyway but I'm still disappointed.

StormsPassIVF · 15/09/2023 10:51

@GwenH82 sorry you are feeling low.

Are you able to do more rounds if needed?

We got a 3 cycle package through Access Fertility and 50% refund if we aren’t successful. I have to say it has taken the pressure off this cycle for me.

GwenH82 · 15/09/2023 11:09

@StormsPassIVF yes we can do more, although I don't qualify for the 50% back if unsuccessful. Just having a crappy day. Time for a cup of tea and a biscuit or two with a good book and I'll perk back up again I'm sure.

StormsPassIVF · 15/09/2023 11:15

@GwenH82 that’s wonderful news! Hopefully that helps to take a little of the the pressure off the first cycle 🤍

Tea and biscuits for sure! Might even be the meds making you feel a bit down.

Have a lovely weekend in the knowledge that the docs will make the decision for you based on the best possible outcome xx

JadeAC · 15/09/2023 13:35

I can understand why you’re down but I’ve been reading loads of stories about this process and the whole ‘it only takes one’ philosophy is actually true. I’ve read loads of stories where people have been down about the amount of eggs etc but it’s still been a success. It’s easier said than done but try and stay positive until you have reason not to be. Cup of tea and a biscuit sounds just right.

GwenH82 · 15/09/2023 15:00

Thanks for the positivity. I've had the call and my collection will be on Tuesday morning. Now to try and relax and enjoy my weekend. Hope you all have good weekends too.

StormsPassIVF · 15/09/2023 16:20

@GwenH82 that’s brilliant!

I would recommend taking a bag of snacks. I took biscuits, protein bars and hot cross buns, some for hubby and some for me when I woke up from the procedure.

Went well with the nice cup of tea they brought me as you won’t be allowed to eat and drink from midnight beforehand you might wake up from the EC starving.

I don’t do hungry 😂

GwenH82 · 15/09/2023 17:04

@StormsPassIVF they had plenty of nice biscuits and tea at the clinic when my husband had his ssr and they promised me the same for after my egg collection!

Nataliedb87 · 15/09/2023 18:16

Had final scan today and they said collection is Monday. Wow suddenly feels very soon - we all know how quickly weekends fly by. Feeling nervous all over again now. Guess it’s another event that’s new and unknown. Today been feeling rather spaced out and not with it at all. Anyone feel like that day before trigger?

pleased I won’t have more needles to do after tomorrow. If anyone wants a chuckle … I have such bad white coat syndrome I passed out doing my first Covid test up my nose!

Ps loving all the moral support and care everyone is sharing on here ❤

StormsPassIVF · 16/09/2023 05:57

@Nataliedb87 that’s great news! Other than your white coat syndrome 😂 bless you! In my experience it really was the easiest part of this whole process. I hope that puts your mind at ease xx

fsr111 · 16/09/2023 09:42

Morning all, glad it's the weekend and no chance of any appointments! Haha! It's a two hour round trip to the clinic we are using. I've been four times already this cycle and it's becoming a drag! Great news about your collection being booked in @Nataliedb87 and @GwenH82 - will be keeping everything crossed for good results. Things still on the go-slow my end. They had initially said collection on Monday but want me to stay on stims a bit longer, so looking like it'll be Wednesday or even Friday. It's day 10 of stims, I'm on a double dose and I'm starting to feel very bloated and very hormonal! 🙈

GwenH82 · 16/09/2023 10:22

@fsr111 sorry to hear you have to go a bit longer with the stims, I was am on the max dose too, I thought I would have to go longer but they think I'll have 4 good follicles by Tuesday so not too bad I suppose, it's horrible that my body has not responded as well as i hoped, one ovary has done nothing at all so I'm trying to be positive that at least the other has . Hopefully you can relax over the weekend in some nice loose clothing and out your feet up and be glad it's not so bloody hot! I'm now counting down to Monday where I get a whole day with no needles. Bliss.

fsr111 · 16/09/2023 10:32

@GwenH82 a whole day with no needles! Bliss! Do you have to do the trigger shot tomorrow night? Weirdly I've got more of the ick for the needles as time has gone on. Felt ok about it to begin with and now I'm like 🤢 every time! One of my ovaries is basically not doing anything either. Isn't it weird to know in such detail what's going on inside?!

GwenH82 · 16/09/2023 10:44

@fsr111 my trigger shot is on Sunday night, collection early Tuesday morning. Yes it is odd. They show me my insides on the screen every scan and to be honest it just looks like random blobs 🤣. I started off being so scared of the jabs, then not bothered and now I am really hating it again, I think because I can see the end in sight.

Nataliedb87 · 16/09/2023 12:25

@GwenH82 @fsr111 ive found the last day of needles really hurt. Maybe it’s like you say, because there’s an end in sight. I have trigger tonight at 10pm and have to have the other two earlier than usual. I’ve set alarms on my phone so I don’t forget (I read an article last week about a women who forgot her trigger and did 3 hours late!) Suddenly wondered when my husband last did his ‘thing’ (cough) and panicked we’d not left the right amount of days but luckily he had it sorted — does feel like he’s oblivious to the rest of it though. Is a little admiration and the occasional ‘how you feeling darling?’ Too much to ask?! Men!

@StormsPassIVF that’s def put my mind at ease thanks. Will the trigger make things more painful or doesn’t make much difference? In fact maybe I don’t want to know in case I don’t like the answer… 🙄

StormsPassIVF · 16/09/2023 12:36

@Nataliedb87 personally I didn’t feel any different, just the continued bloating.

I’m counting down the days until I can test…3 down 8 days to go.

First 3 days I was completely chilled about the result, now I’m starting to wind myself up a bit.

It’s just so hard to have patience but then I think back and can’t believe I only started IVF only 21 days ago and so much has happened already.
