FET/IVF/ICSI July 2023

Hello!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone was going ahead with a transfer in July.

I've just had my nurse consult and hoping to have my second FET in July (my first was successful in Jan 2021 and I had my wonderful DD).

The first time around I was of course beyond nervous, excited, terrified it wouldn't work etc. This time it feels like that's doubled! I'm a private patient so I've saved everything for this but should it fail, it'll be a long long time before I could afford to try again.

To add some nerves, I'd need to be cycle day one no later than the 6th July to go ahead, as my clinic is moving locations. I'm currently due on the 5th...! So every chance it's moved to a Sept cycle.

Would be nice to have some company!

:)

@Labradoodlepup we might be transferring around the same time! I think my transfer will be around 29-31st July depending on if my cycle behaves! Don’t know about you but I’m counting down days 🙈

Ellenn · 19/06/2023 18:05

Maybe a silly question - does anyone know if there are any issues with exercising after transfer? I’m planning on going to week long dance course a few weeks after transfer. I’ve been really looking forward to it, but now starting to worry what if the transfer works maybe I shouldn’t go? It will be an intensive week however I do usually do quite a bit of running/dance classes. I don’t want to jinx it by thinking about it but now wondering if it’s a good idea?

it will just be a natural frozen transfer so no stims or anything! If anyone has any experience of what is recommended would love to hear!

Hopingforno2in2023 · 19/06/2023 19:17

Not 100% sure I’m afraid Ellenn, I know that doe pregnancy you are told you can carry on with what your body is used to exercise wise. Can you ask your clinic?

Paid for our meds today and was pleasantly surprised at the cost so that was good. Was told egg collection will be week commencing 21st August.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 19/06/2023 20:02

@Ellenn After my first transfer the doctor told me light exercise only, specifically only walking and cycling 😂. No swimming or gym or weights, sex or anything like that, particularly during the 2ww. I’d ask your consultant for sure before going on the dance course.

Lauralozzle · 19/06/2023 20:22

@Ellenn I’m not sure to be honest. I’d probably query with the clinic just to be sure.

@Hopingforno2in2023 Oh, not too long to wait. I’m like a little kid when the meds come, which is strange, because I’m not a fan of the injections! I think it’s knowing you have what you need to move forward and feels like a big step.

How is everyone? I still feel like I’m in limbo land. Start norethisterone next week on Tuesday but it seems like such a wait! This week is going to drag! Im on holiday next week for a few nights, so hopefully relaxing and enjoying myself will help with the waiting! I’m at the point where I’m counting work days now before im off! 4 days left to go!

Olivia199 · 19/06/2023 20:22

Hey ladies! Sorry I checked out a bit there. Suddenly everything got very busy, especially as my daughter decided she just had to ditch nappies and wear big girl pants(?!). But all is well here thank you. Seem to be ovulating right on time so hoping that's a good sign.
Planning a mini holiday away camping incase treatment gets delayed because I know I'll be frustrated by it.

How is everyone getting on now?

And welcome to the new people! Seems a few of us are aiming for last week in July for transfer!

Hi all, hoping I can join. IVF first timer, ttc first baby. Unexplained infertility. I am stil getting my head around the process but would be great to support/be supported by others going through the same.

My meds are being delivered next week to start stimulation on around 6th July (assuming my period arrives on time!). Clinic have managed to time it around my normal cycle rather than scheduling a cycle, which I understand isn't that common. Transfer late July assuming it all goes to plan. Feels like everything suddenly started happening quite quickly after so much waiting!

Does anyone have any tips on plans/treats in case things don't go to plan at any point? I am very much trying to be positive but I'm quite a logical person too and aware we have lots of hurdles to get through even to get to the transfer stage. I hope that doesn't come across negatively, as I say I am very hopeful it will work I'd just like to think about how best to look after myself and my partner if not.

Wishing lots of luck to everyone on this thread.

Lauralozzle · 24/06/2023 10:56

@Olivia199 Trip away camping sounds like a great idea. Glad everything is ok with you. Out of nappies into big girl pants sounds like a great step! I can imagine you’ve been very busy!

@Walker12 Welcome! We’re definitely going to be stimming/transferring around the same time. I recognise you from the other thread.

So, during my last cycle I had planned alcohol/pate/cheeses that I could have if it didn’t work at each stage. Stuff I wouldn’t be able to have if it worked. That helped a bit.

After our cycle failed, we decided to go on a short weekend break. A chance to be ‘us’ again, and stop thinking about fertility in the same way. That really helped. If this cycle fails, I think we’ll try and get away for a few days, maybe August time.

I’m off work now for a week. Having four nights away in the Peak District this week. Norethisterone starts on Tuesday for 10 days.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 24/06/2023 11:14

@Walker12 When our baby stopped developing we went to the south of France for 10 days. That really helped. I have my next transfer on Monday 3rd July and have booked some AL for the days after the 2ww just in case. I also love @Lauralozzle s suggestion of getting things i wouldn’t be able to have if it is unsuccessful as a treat, I will be doing that this round too.

Walker12 · 24/06/2023 12:12

Hi again @Lauralozzle 🙂 I love the idea of pate and cheese, definitely going to plan a little selection of treats to have ready. Hope you have a restful break this week.
@IVFfirsttimer91 so sorry for your loss and good luck for your upcoming transfer. I will definitely consider a break away/time off work after the cycle, regardless of the outcome, I feel like it's been so hard to plan holidays etc with the uncertainty of IVF but definitely helps to get away from everything fertility related for a while.

Lauralozzle · 24/06/2023 13:06

@Walker12 We didn’t have a holiday at all last year because we just didn’t know what was happening with the IVF/when we’d start etc. It’s been easier to plan things now as we have dates/timelines and it’s a bit more in our control rather than waiting on fertility diagnosis appointments.

The break will be good for me. Still doing lots, but things I enjoy, rather than work!

@IVFfirsttimer91 I’m sorry to hear about your previous loss. I can imagine the break helped, just to resettle with a change of scenery.

Olivia199 · 24/06/2023 16:22

Hi @Walker12! I remember exactly how it all felt and very overwhelming was my major takeaway. I kept thinking "I'll relax once I start meds/have first scan/have egg collection/have transfer" and it felt like just one anxious wait after another!
I very much had in mind a little time away so I could forget all things fertility if it hadn't worked. Thankfully it did. I've done similar this time in terms of planning some time out for me and my girl if it isn't successful.
All going well we should start things around the same time, though mine is a FET.

@Lauralozzle - I feel for the poor thing, she's currently reacting to something but I'm not sure what. So she's got some fairly horrid diarrhea with blood in it. So we have kept the pull ups as a precaution as the only warning she gets is discomfort! But she's loving being able to use the potty none the less. We had a nice trip out to the zoo today, which was where the reaction presented itself. So we are both worn out!

Hope you’re all well guys!

Was waiting for AF to arrive and it finally came on day 17 of buserelin (yesterday) It was actually a few days early but I knew I had to have a bleed before my scan on 29th so I was panicking. The amount of times I’ve googled ‘when should your period arrive on buserelin’ is ridiculous’ 🤣

hopefully il be able to start stims next week 🤞 you don’t realise how many hurdles you have to get over with this process !

how’s everyone else getting on?

Olivia199 · 24/06/2023 19:16

@Raleighx - that's amazing! So glad AF showed up in excellent time!

Hello - may I join you? I am having a day 10 scan on Thursday and hopefully if everything looks good transfer the week after (it will be a FET - second attempt- first I got pregnant but the baby stopped developing).

Only potential fly in the ointment is that I have developed the worlds worst flu/cold (not Covid!) so am feeling really ropey…

Ellenn · 25/06/2023 21:41

@Justalittlebitblondie hey! I hope you feel better soon - at least you have a week or so to try and scare off your cold!

I’ve finally received my letter confirming I can transfer on my July cycle which is great! Think I’ve just ovulated so another 2 weeks till my period to wait 😊

Estuck · 27/06/2023 00:50

Hi everyone

I am in prep for my 1st FET that is set for July 19th. We have 2 frozen embryos and I’m a mix of so many emotions. Has anyone else felt the stems for fet prep were much harder on you that for egg retrieval? Maybe it’s just exhaustion at this point!

Olivia199 · 27/06/2023 09:29

@Justalittlebitblondie - Oh I'm so sorry you're feeling so poorly. Last thing you need! I really hope you're feeling better soon.

OP posts:
Olivia199 · 27/06/2023 09:31

@Estuck - I found the protocol and drugs a little less rough but was lucky to be on just progynova and utrogest. It's all such a whirlwind though and the anxiety and stress definitely gets to you eventually! I found with the less involved FET, I had more time for it to all catch up to me if that makes sense! Good luck!

Lauralozzle · 27/06/2023 09:37

@Raleighx It’s funny isn’t it, how we want our period to show up as soon as possible just before IVF cycle when we’ve spent so long hoping it doesn’t show! Fingers crossed for stims starting soon now!

@Justalittlebitblondie Hi 👋 hopefully your scan goes perfect, all ready for your FET. Hope you feel a bit better soon though.

@Estuck Hi! 👋 I’ve never had a FET. Didn’t get enough fertilised embryos our last cycle.

Today marks day 1 of norethisterone! Hopefully it doesn’t give me any horrible side effects!

Olivia199 · 27/06/2023 12:35

@Lauralozzle - Yesss!!! You're on the way! :D hope it treats you well! My hugely over-emotional reaction to random things today gives me some indication that maybe I'll be in good time for a July cycle after all.

Either that or I'm just sleep deprived and tearful!

Walker12 · 27/06/2023 16:16

Good luck to all of those who have started :)
Mine arrived today, in good time for hopefully cd1 next week. Is anyone else on/had meriofert? I am a little apprehensive about all the vials and mixing it together etc. Also feeling a bit emotional and overwhelmed today and struggling to focus on work (I wfh), I relate to the over reactions @Olivia199 😂 Wondering if that is only going to get worse over the next few weeks!

Hopingforno2in2023 · 28/06/2023 10:18

My schedule around yesterday. They are going with 450iu of Merioneth which I understand is a v high dose. 2 weeks until I start the testosterone!

Hopingforno2in2023 · 28/06/2023 10:19

Meriofert! Damn autocorrect

Justkeepmoving1234 · 28/06/2023 13:41

Hi everyone,

I'm starting my FET cycle in July. Although, it maybe August for my FET.

I'm lucky enough to have 3 embryos left from my IVF in 2020. I also have a DS from my first embryo, born in August 2021.

Going in for the second, with fingers and toes crossed! I also feel so much pressure with us being so lucky last time. I'm just can't even think about seeing a negative test again, as we were trying for 5 years naturally and with clomid before my DS.

Haa anyone's partners been a bit up/down? My husband is struggling with us going in for second.
