FET/IVF/ICSI July 2023

Hello!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone was going ahead with a transfer in July.

I've just had my nurse consult and hoping to have my second FET in July (my first was successful in Jan 2021 and I had my wonderful DD).

The first time around I was of course beyond nervous, excited, terrified it wouldn't work etc. This time it feels like that's doubled! I'm a private patient so I've saved everything for this but should it fail, it'll be a long long time before I could afford to try again.

To add some nerves, I'd need to be cycle day one no later than the 6th July to go ahead, as my clinic is moving locations. I'm currently due on the 5th...! So every chance it's moved to a Sept cycle.

Would be nice to have some company!

:)

@Olivia199 @ASGIRC thanks for the kind words! i am 3dp5dt - the longest three days, honestly. I’ve tested already today - obv nothing in either case, but i think from tomorrow onwards it becomes more serious. Thank you again, i think it’s just the waiting and the drugs getting to me. I definitely do not respond well to all this progesterone!

orchid29 · 20/07/2023 20:34

But on a lighter note - @ASGIRC I used to have easily 5 coffees/teas a day, so cutting down to 2-3 has been very tough :)

ASGIRC · 20/07/2023 20:39

@orchid29 ugh I get it.
Never been one for coffee or tea (I lie, I did drink coffee in my early 20s), but I am a smoker and love a beer and wine.
Ive stopped it all now (this month, before the transfer)!! Its an adjustment!

Hopefully youll get a positive very soon!!!

Not gonna lie, I go through periods of thinking its gonna be negative and Im gonna have to do it again. But other times Im 100% convinced it will work.

Olivia199 · 20/07/2023 19:23

@wtawtaw - Oh I'm so sorry to read of your endo struggles.
Got everything crossed for that super 5AA.

If it's any consolation. I am also insanely bloated. To the point none of my jeans fit. The progesterone did this to me last time too. I was in maternity trousers from 8 weeks because I was so uncomfortable in anything else. Stopped meds at 10 weeks and it all went away and I was comfortably back in my size 10 for a good few weeks!!

Thank you 😊 glad the bloating is not just me! Clinic get me to stop the pessaries tomorrow whether I get a positive or not 😬

Olivia199 · 20/07/2023 21:03

@orchid29 - I tested on day three last time too, obviously to no avail!
You've got this. Just keep on plodding. The days are incredibly long and the meds do NOT help!

I've struggled to cut down my tea intake too. Now that I really DID used to mainline.

@Olivia199 im glad you are feeling so positive. I’m the opposite, I feel sure that it hasn’t worked and it was all for nothing. my last embryo was a 5aa and didn’t work, so how could this one that isn’t even as good work? Sorry having a bit of a low here!

Oh no! The tww is so difficult and goes SO slow, it puts our minds into overdrive. Why don't you think it's worked? Obviously far too early to tell yet but you got this!

Olivia199 · 20/07/2023 21:05

ASGIRC · 20/07/2023 20:28

@Olivia199 I definitely need some beers in my fridge!! I have a cupboard FULL of regular beers and wine, but I wont be touching them until April (fingers crossed), so non alcoholic ones definitely need to be purchased.
And I soooo know what you mean about cracking one open at the end of a long day!

Ive never tried AF wine, and Im willing to give it a go. If its rank, then I wont bother again!

Well, Coke/Pepsi have little caffeine, when compared to coffee or tea. So you have to drink a lot more of them to get the same amount! And you can drink about 3 cups os coffee a day while pregnant, without adverse effects, so it should be fine! Unless you were literally mainlining it!! LOL

I tend to drink it at lunch, or when Im out for dinner and not drinking alcohol. So that will definitely be within the limits.

When you talk about being bloated from the progesterone... do you mean the pessaries?

Sorry youre not feeling optimistic @orchid29. How far post transfer are you now? It must be a few days. Are you planning on testing any time soon?

@ASGIRC - Yeah it's really loving having something and honestly it doesn't seem to matter to me whether it's a proper one or an AF one!

The wine is okay if mixed with lemonade. I am a huge fan of a wine and lemonade so it's great for me. Never too keen on it's own though. The beers I can easily drink on it's own and be forgiven for not knowing the difference.

Yes, just the pesseries (and maybe a bit of remaining bug bloat). But man, it just doesn't quit. By the evening I look fairly fair along.

ASGIRC · 20/07/2023 21:21

@Olivia199 I had to drink some Heineken 0% in december, as I was taking Metrodinazole and had a party!!! So got myself some alcohol free beers. They were great!

I am a big fan of wine. White, not red. But big fan. No lemonade in it, unless Im making it into sangria!!!

I have had zero side effects from the pessaries. apart from the constant white leakage. My bed sheets are getting whiter by the day!!!
And Im starting to feel a bit sick of the sour milk smell they have...

But otherwise, nothing! But then again, Ive never been really hormonal. I dont even have PMS either. (it sounds like Im bragging, Im sorry!!!)

Olivia199 · 20/07/2023 21:51

@ASGIRC - Oooh sangria! I used to always drink wine on it's own, but got into the lemonade added a couple years back and love it now!

Glad you're not feeling so bad on them! The white leak is absolutely grim. I forgot my Pantiliners for my shift on Wednesday and let's just say it was probably the most uncomfortable 14 hours of my life. The work bag is now stocked!

I never used to get too bad, but found it massively ramped up after I had DD. It's settled down now but I still seem to struggle with them. The stims and the oestrogen seem absolutely fine, maybe a bit sicky in the morning as I take my whole progynova dose at night, but otherwise nothing. The progesterone makes me feel a bit grim though. The bloat, headaches, sore boobs. Can't tell if it makes me grumpy because the only grump since taking it was well deserved. Equally I probably would have sucked it in without the meds. Whereas I firmly put the offending person in their place. 😂

The cyclogest and prontogest have literally turned me into a bloated monster. I feel like I don’t fit any of my clothes and like I’m a sausage stuffed with too much filling if that makes sense. I can’t wait till week 12 when I can stop all the meds. @Olivia199 loved your shopping list! We are an AF couple and we really love the sparkling pink ‘champagne’ from either sainsburys or Morrisons. We had some on Saturday, It’s lovely for a celebration:)

AnaS86 · 20/07/2023 23:08

Sorry not to have messaged much the past few days, work is absolutely crazy at the moment. It's so great to read about everyone's progress. I hope you're all doing really well.

I am also suffering from bloat although it's not quite as bad today thankfully... Such a pain at this time of year with summer clothing! I have had the worst constipation after my egg retrieval too, just awful despite drinking so much water.

Probably tmi but I've opted to take my pessaries rectally (god.. this IVF business really is something isn't it..) as I had to take several vaginal pessaries to treat a missed miscarriage last year and I think it would be a little triggering. Scans are already bad enough!

I'm going to call the clinic tmw and check all ok before my transfer Saturday. It's been weird not having any news...

ASGIRC · 20/07/2023 23:52

@AnaS86 When was the last time you had news???

My pessaries did not give that option... Also, Im doing SOOOO many a day, I think it would just be too much to do it rectally.

Ive been more constipated than I was before, but thats because I stopped drinking, which always gave me loose stools.

I feel quite pleased that the drugs have not affected me at all (that I can tell). But Im not looking forward to pessaries for another 8 or 9 weeks!

orchid29 · 20/07/2023 23:52

@wtawtaw good luck for tomorrow! will you get the results immediately?

there is no reason why i feel pessimistic - maybe because i feel very similar to last time and that didn’t work out. But already feeling a bit more hopeful!

Let us know how you get on!

@AnaS86 im so sorry to hear about your experience with the missed miscarriage. That sounds really tough.

TheBirdintheCave · 21/07/2023 06:29

Awake so early yet again 🙄 @wtawtaw Good luck today! 😬

Olivia199 · 21/07/2023 07:20

@IVFfirsttimer91 - Ooh thank you for the pink champers tip. I'll get some of that! I feelnyou with the bloat monster!

@AnaS86 - Oh it all feels a bit detached sometimes doesn't it. You have so much involvement with them and then... nothing.
Not long until transfer now!
Sadly mine can't go rectally. Which I find quite upsetting as I've heard so many times that it's the preferred option!

@AnaS86 - Also so sorry to hear about your MMC. I absolutely understand how doing similar could feel horrible.

Olivia199 · 21/07/2023 07:26

@wtawtaw - Good luck today!! Will be thinking of you!!

@orchid29 - I totally get that. I think what puts me off that slightly is that I was so sure I was going to start AF last time. It felt exactly the same! So it feels like I won't know either way. Of course I'm massively overanalysing every pinch and twinge now. Things I wouldn't even feel if it wasn't for paying attention. And thinking "was that implantation?!"

I’m on CD1 today so stims start tomorrow 😬

@ttcsolomumtobe hope you can start soon too!

Yeah I wish mine could go rectally too. There's barely any mess that way. I can't stand the Lutigest leaking 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

ttcsolomumtobe · 21/07/2023 07:31

@wtawtaw good luck for today!

@Caroline2023 excited for you to start! Hopefully not too far behind, have all the cramps, just need the bleed 🤣 my cycles can go up to 28 days which would be Sunday so trying to remain calm.
I don't want to end up having to go across to the August Chat, will be across 3 then and defo won't be able to keep up ha

To be fair to them they did say they wouldn't let me know embryo process until very early on Saturday but I would like to have some more info about the transfer itself!

Walker12 · 21/07/2023 08:05

@wtawtaw good luck today!
@Caroline2023 exciting that you are on your way 😀
@AnaS86 hope you get a good update today- I also don't get any update at all until the day of transfer so im with you with the uncertainty! And so sorry about your mmc, completely makes sense you would want to avoid those reminders.

For those that have had an egg collection, can I ask how long until you felt less sore/tender? I'm now 3 days on and feeling really sore and bloated still, and was up in the night with quite bad cramps. I feel completely bruised inside which I realise makes sense given what the collection involves but I keep reading that most people are fine after a day or so?

Walker12 · 21/07/2023 08:05

@AnaS86 are you with Care?
