FET/IVF/ICSI July 2023

Hello!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone was going ahead with a transfer in July.

I've just had my nurse consult and hoping to have my second FET in July (my first was successful in Jan 2021 and I had my wonderful DD).

The first time around I was of course beyond nervous, excited, terrified it wouldn't work etc. This time it feels like that's doubled! I'm a private patient so I've saved everything for this but should it fail, it'll be a long long time before I could afford to try again.

To add some nerves, I'd need to be cycle day one no later than the 6th July to go ahead, as my clinic is moving locations. I'm currently due on the 5th...! So every chance it's moved to a Sept cycle.

Would be nice to have some company!

:)

@ASGIRC I completely agree! I've been in a desperate place before and tried alot of those things on my last transfer, obviously it didn't work! This time I've been a lot more relaxed about it all in terms of old wives tales etc.

The pineapple core gets me too....I've not tried that one but how on earth can a fruit, specifically a core of a fruit help with implantation?! Crazy.

ASGIRC · 19/07/2023 22:22

@wtawtaw OMG yes! On a portuguese board Im a member of, women mention eating all sorts of things to help with implantation! And drinking some disgusting sounding teas.

I just want the cold hard facts.

My clinic seems to be very chill. The doctor at the transfer (not my usual doctor) said to resume normal life, completely, as soon as I set foot outside the building.
Obviously, I cant resume completely normal life, as that would envolve beers in the sun and wine for dinner, but otherwise, they just said to be normal!

orchid29 · 19/07/2023 22:54

@ASGIRC @wtawtaw have you guys come across the book expecting better? It doesn’t deal in ivf specifically but it’s super helpful for looking at what are the actual facts on pregnancy.

orchid29 · 19/07/2023 22:55

i wish there was an equivalent for ivf though - i end up looking at research papers/ cochran reviews but it’s a lot of effort 😂😂

ASGIRC · 19/07/2023 23:03

@orchid29 cant say Ive even heard of it!
I shall have a google!

I was googling what one can eat or not in pregnancy, and AGAIN, it is so full of old wives tales that it made me mad.
It really is hard to find out proper facts, not clouded with judgement.

And reading actual studies is a bit too much work!

TheBirdintheCave · 19/07/2023 23:16

@ASGIRC I go by the NHS website as that seems to be the most comprehensive and accurate source.

TheBirdintheCave · 20/07/2023 06:59

Well I'm now 6dp5dt and the line on the Easy@Home hasn't darkened from yesterday (even a little) so unfortunately it looks like a chemical pregnancy :( At this point I'm just hoping it's not an ectopic. Which, to be fair after two MMCs in a row, would be just my luck.

Raleighx · 20/07/2023 07:09

Wow this thread is so fast moving!

Thank you @Olivia199 :)
@ttcsolomumtobe we went with one in the end!

@TheBirdintheCave Try not to worry just yet. There probably won't be much change in just 1 day when it's still really early days! I'd give it a few days and do another test but keeping everything crossed for you and praying little one sticks.

Good luck to everyone who has had their transfers recently @21C @ASGIRC

@Bristol1988 I was in exactly the same position as you. Had 2 follicles of size in my day 6 scan and 3 tiny ones. I very nearly ended up cancelling my cycle as I ended up with 4 follicles. My clinic wouldn't have gone to egg collection if I had less than 3 but I decided to give it a chance and I'm so glad I did.

Had my transfer on Tuesday with a 5 day blast the embryologist said was 'the best quality you can get'. Also got 2 more good quality 5 day blasts in the freezer! Never imagined out of 4 follicles I would get 3 good quality blasts but I'm so pleased. This journey has been a rollercoaster for sure.

Olivia199 · 20/07/2023 07:21

Morning ladies!

Sorry I checked out again. Yesterday's first day at the new hospital and maaaan, it was long. I left home at 5:45am and got home at 8:30pm. After three hours sleep the night before. Recovery from the D&V bug didn't help my stamina!

But today's the day! Transfer imminent.

Going to try for a little catch up but I'm so sorry if I've missed something!

@ASGIRC - Congratulations on transfer! Though I remember last time they were late and said the same thing about just needing comfortably full.. which it was.. at my appointment time!! I was then so scared of peeing out the embryo with the ferocious stream. 😂

@21C - What an amazing update! One cosy in the freezer and one back where it belongs! So so thrilled for you and have everything crossed. What a nightmare few days.

@lauralozzle - Sounds like you're getting there on stims! They miscounted a few times for me, seemed to go up and down for each scan.

@Orchid29 - I am exactly the same regarding a slow let down. I figure I can lose a little bit of hope each day rather than believing its true only for a hard shock on the day.

@TheBirdintheCave - That's very exciting! Congratulations! Please please don't worry about lack of progression at this stage. I tested positive on day 4 last time and day 5 was negative!! Not zero progression... just outright negative. There is such a tiny tiny amount of HCG at this point and it doubles every 48 hours, so even a few extra sips of water can be the difference. I know it's scary and crap but it absolutely doesn't mean anything bad yet!

@Walker12 - Amazing numbers! So thrilled for you! Got everything crossed for Sunday but certainly looking good!

@ttcsolomumtobe - Oh our AF loves to mess with us eh, always hanging around elsewhere when we need her! On my IVF cycle I was running up and down the stairs with a hoover to try and encourage her!

@Bristol21 - Welcome! Got everything crossed for you. Is this your first round?

@IVFfirsttimer91 - This is amazing! I am absolutely delighted for you. Huge congratulations lovely.

@Chickencrazy3356 - Welcome. I'm so sorry to hear about your brother and the huge stress you're under. Like the others, I've heard that stress only really impacts where we are in our headspace and can make things harder, but while you're still having a cycle (If you did before) it doesn't affect the quality of the eggs. It can stop your cycle though and obviously then there would be no egg... ivf does help this along though. Got everything crossed for you for this round and hopefully happy news with your brother too. What a tough time. X

@Raleighx - That's amazing news! So so pleased for you! By this evening we should have 4 of us in the TWW with a few just behind?

ttcsolomumtobe · 20/07/2023 07:26

@Olivia199 don't they just! Arrived far too early last month and now getting all the cramps and possible signs but no sight! Getting in a 4k walk and 40min swim before work, hoping that will help things move along ha

Olivia199 · 20/07/2023 07:31

@tttcsolomumtobe - Got everything crossed she comes soon! She knows where she isn't wanted so makes absolutely sense she knows where she is!
I did so much googling this month to work out how to make her arrive as I needed it by a certain date to have this cycle. So I absolutely remember the annoyance!

@Olivia199 Unfortunately to have such a weak line at the equivalent of 11dpo (so weak I can't even photograph it) just spells disaster in some form. My last pregnancy I had a faint at 10dpo and a clear line at 11dpo. I don't think there's any coming back from this. Any hope I had from yesterday is gone.

Bristol1988 · 20/07/2023 07:44

@Raleighx think you meant to tag @Bristol2021 - sorry to confuse everyone 😂 but I was also similar, at one scan they said they thought they’d get 3. Egg collection yesterday and they managed to get 7! So feeling a bit happier today.

Everything crossed for you in your tww🩷

Olivia199 · 20/07/2023 07:56

I'm so sorry @TheBirdintheCave x

Lauralozzle · 20/07/2023 08:29

@TheBirdintheCave I’m sorry. 😞

@Olivia199 Good luck today for your transfer!

@Raleighx That is great news, and frozen ones too. I really hope I’ll get something similar with my eggs.

I’m fed up of stims now. I’m so tired, like exhausted, no matter how much sleep I’ve had.

The fymaderal really stung this morning and it’s gone all red around the injection site , stings and itches. Hopefully it dies down a bit.

Roll on scan no.3 come Friday

Bristol2021 · 20/07/2023 09:06

Oh that’s amazing for you! Yes, it feels like such a gamble whether to proceed with EC when the numbers are so low - you’re not first person to say they’ve got more eggs than the follicles predicted. As it’s my first cycle I might go ahead with it, it’s all learning. I had very low expectations anyway so was prepared for disappointment.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 20/07/2023 09:40

@TheBirdintheCave im really sorry to hear that lovely. But don’t give up just yet. I had the same as you tested at 9dpo and then again at 10 and the 10 day line was so faint I could barely see it. I will keep everything crossed for you xx

@Olivia199 good luck today with your transfer!!!

TheBirdintheCave · 20/07/2023 09:54

Ok I am 100% an idiot apparently. Just got a good line with second morning wee 😅 I'm sorry I had such a big panic. Being autistic I take things in very black and white ways, as in things are either amazing or awful. I really need to organise our counselling session I think 😂

Apologies everyone! ❤️

Bristol1988 · 20/07/2023 10:02

@TheBirdintheCave so happy for you! It’s an emotional rollercoaster so don’t apologise. Fingers crossed everything progresses well for you

Olivia199 · 20/07/2023 10:07

@TheBirdintheCave - Don't apologise for such an amazing update! My first morning wee always gave really weak positives, if any at all. I think I drink too much overnight and it dilutes!

Olivia199 · 20/07/2023 10:08

@Lauralozzle - Thank you!
Sorry you're feeling it so much, it's such hard work with the stims and I absolutely remember the insane desire to just be done with them. I hope tomorrow's scan is really positive for you. X

IVFfirsttimer91 · 20/07/2023 10:12

@TheBirdintheCave woo hoo!! That’s fantastic news!! Really glad to hear it!

Lauralozzle · 20/07/2023 10:20

@TheBirdintheCave Don’t apologise. Good news is great and ivf is a mind fuck at the best of times! It’s great that you have a good second line!

@Olivia199 Thanks. Fingers crossed tomorrow I’m nearly there. I think I’ll just take it easy today. Another minimal effort work day I reckon.

Bristol1988 · 20/07/2023 10:21

Just had the call that 5 out of 7 eggs fertilised 😊 Happy thoughts until the transfer on Monday.
