Hi!

I'm going to be starting my medications ready for a FET in June. Anybody else in the same boat or starting their cycles?

I've done one round of ICSI and had a fresh transfer in March that wasn't successful but we got 5 frozen day 5 blastocysts from it. Happy to answer any questions for anyone starting their journeys :)

@Lyrabee I think I'll do the same. Not worry about the videos again for now and then read the instructions when they arrive. Really hope I can do them!!

@Floralsandsmiles I've also been prescribed bemfola. My AMH is only 4.4 and follicle count was 11, so I've got 450 iu. I've been prescribed 12 days worth, but it depends on the regular scans as to how many days I'll take it. E.g. if the follicles are growing well, I guess I might not need the full 12 days. I then have 6 days worth of Fyremadel which they will tell me when to start using based on the scans and follicle growth. Then the trigger shot - which is the same as yours, Ovitrelle - they will tell you when you need to administer this, again from the regular scans. Then I believe the egg collection takes place around 35/37 hours later. So they will tell you exactly when to administer the trigger, to the exact hour!

I've had two quotes for my meds now - both around £2,250, so think I'm just going to go with the place recommended by my clinic.

Xx

Aww thank you @Lebe14 😊 I'm glad you have your comparison exercise all done now. Onwards and upwards! Exciting! Xxx

Lyrabee · 02/06/2023 12:15

@Floralsandsmiles once you have your trigger shot, collection is usually 36 hours after. So my trigger was Monday at 9pm and collection Wednesday at 9am!

@Lebe14 you will be absolutely fine I'm sure! The first one of each medication is definitely the worst as you kind of worry about symptoms or of it will sting. My worst bit was actually sticking myself with the needle, I got a mental block a couple of times 🤣

I think my medication was about £1.5k but I had very basic ones. Gonal-F and Cetritide then Gonafi for trigger. Plus several boxes of pessaries

Aww OK, so if they have said 10 days of stims, I'm looking at 12 days total from starting to egg collection? Xxx

I really hope so! I'm the same, I'm worried about sticking the needle in 😂 and whether my mind will allow me to do it. Fingers crossed all will be okay! Otherwise, I'll be calling my husband haha! X

Can you readily get pessaries from Pharmacy etc?
Apparently to continue with pessaries after the 2 weeks they give, it will be roughly £200 xxx

Lyrabee · 02/06/2023 16:17

@Floralsandsmiles yeah thats right because once you've done the trigger you don't have any others. After collection you start the pessaries. Mine were twice a day and you keep those going for weeks. I wasn't a fan of them last time, they irritated my cervix so I'm going to try the back door for my next lot 😆

I'm not sure about where to get them from! They've given me way more than two weeks worth though. You might be able to get the GP to do you a prescription if the pregnancy takes as you'll need to let them know anyway x

Hiiii all. Please can I join? Due to start FET this month 😊waited 55 days for my period but it’s finally arrived woop. My only worry is that I’m due to have a natural FET cycle so I don’t know if they will say that because my period is late, they think I should wait another month. Anyone have experience or advice on this?

Lyrabee · 03/06/2023 23:20

Hi @KG1244 everyone is welcome!
I'm having FET too but we chose medicated to give us a bit more control.
How long are your cycles usually? And how long has it been since your collection etc?

I was made to wait 2 months. My period kept me on my toes but did arrive the other day so I've started tablets now.

Maybe give your clinic a bell on Monday? X

KG1244 · 04/06/2023 22:30

@Lyrabee Thanks! They are usually about 30 days. I think as it’s only my second period since EC in March, the hormones from that have messed up my body a bit.

Sqiggle85 · 05/06/2023 08:52

Happy Monday all,

Good to hear some of you are starting medication. Hope your all feeling well and not too many side effects! X

I’m still waiting for a proper AF I keep spotting/heavy spotting then nothing for a day or so. It’s not unusual but just frustrating having to wait for a proper bleed. Currently on day 53 . Spoke to the clinic and they advised to wait it out x

KG1244 · 05/06/2023 11:56

@Sqiggle85 I feel your pain! Hope it turns up soon. Are you doing medicated or natural FET?

Medicated. My cycles and ovulation (or lack of) are all over the place.

Hope your able to start your treatment this month, did the clinic say it was ok even though you were late?

Lyrabee · 05/06/2023 23:10

@KG1244 did you manage to speak to anyone?

@Sqiggle85 aw it's horrible waiting for it! My body made me wait an extra couple of days this time but it handily made it fall on the 1st of the month.

Tomorrow I double my tablets. Hopefully you will both be on the way soon!

Hi all, had my appointment this morning and they said that as my lining is thin at the moment I’m ready to start natural FET and not to worry about the delay as this is very common.

Floralsandsmiles · 06/06/2023 17:43

Hi all,
Was due to start my meds this weekend on my first cycle..
However FINALLY got my results back today from the private smear that they need on file. Really really high HPV result, which means they can't proceed until the hospital have taken a look, done some procedures and have given me the all clear to resume once my cervix is healed.
Absolutely gutted as it's one step forward and 4 steps back. Everything with me is always such hard work and I just wish something once was easy. I'm completely devasted and have been crying most they day as the NHS is never quick with anything, so could be looking at the end of year to restart or not at all if it's worst case scenario and something like cancer. God I hope not. Either way. Either option is shit and I'm stuck in bloody ground hog day still.

If you haven't had your smear recently, I'd get one booked in before hand, so you don't end up like me 😒😒 xxx

KG1244 · 06/06/2023 21:08

@Floralsandsmiles oh I’m so sorry to hear this. I completely get the feeling of 1 step forward and 4 steps back. Do you know what the procedure would be for clearing the HPV?

I had LETZ before, so need to see If they favour this again. I have no idea how long the cervix will take to heal before I can start IVF now though 😒 xxx

KG1244 · 06/06/2023 21:32

@Floralsandsmiles oh I’m sorry. I don’t know anything about the procedure but you might be able to find a group where people have had it before and can advise on recovery times. It could just be a couple of cycles after the procedure. That’s what I had after my polyp made another return.

Thank you @KG1244 for your response, I just really needed for vent and cry. I should be gearing up and excited to start my first cycle and now this. Absolutely devasted xx

KG1244 · 06/06/2023 21:53

@Floralsandsmiles I completely get it, vent away. I knew ivf would be hard, I was never prepared for so many blocks in the road on the way to get there. Is there only one hospital where you can get the procedure? Try and remember that this bit is temporary and hopefully in a few months it will be resolved. I know it’s still very painful but perhaps in a week or two you might have an idea on the timeframe for the procedure.

Yep, just the one. You are right, it is temporary, just so upset and wasn't expecting this 😒. Thank you do your messages back xxx

Lyrabee · 07/06/2023 09:46

@Floralsandsmiles oh my lovely I'm so sorry you've got another bump in the road :( hopefully they won't leave you too long before treating it as that can definitely be a worry, I'm not sure if you can try and speak to them and let you know what's going on so they might nudge it forwards faster?
It's better to be now though rather than it being something sinister and you being pregnant. I'll keep all my fingers crossed for you. Take your time, cry it out - we've all needed that at some point in this journey xx

Hi girls! Hope you don’t mind if I join. Wishing you all lots of luck :)

Started my first cycle of ivf today! First injection of buserelin. My partners going to be doing all of the injections. We have a DD from a cycle of ivf in 2021 and I did her injections. First one was fine so hoping it stays that way. Feels so weird it being the other way around.

I’m 32 - obviously doing ivf as in a same sex relationship. Scans / blood work came back normal.. although I didn’t get any actual numbers which has concerned me as normal could mean borderline! I’ve requested a written copy of my blood results so will know more when that comes. Clinic advised trying iui first as saw no reason that wouldn’t work but we have had a bad experience in the past with iui (2 chemical pregnancies out of 6 rounds) so we’ve opted to go straight for ivf.

Hoping we get a positive outcome as financially we can just about manage to do this but will struggle to do a whole fresh round so keeping our fingers crossed. I’ve always had an awful feeling I will really struggle to conceive even though I’ve never tried! I don’t know why but I’ve felt it since my late teens? I have had irregular periods. Trying to stay positive!

My next scan is on 29 June to check how things are doing and see if I can start the next injection. Looking forward to following all your updates and supporting along the way.
