IVF/ICSI/FET - June 23

Hi!

I'm going to be starting my medications ready for a FET in June. Anybody else in the same boat or starting their cycles?

I've done one round of ICSI and had a fresh transfer in March that wasn't successful but we got 5 frozen day 5 blastocysts from it. Happy to answer any questions for anyone starting their journeys :)

@Lyrabee thanks, that’s really helpful to know. Tbh I would be tempted to pay as I honestly think it would make the process a lot less stressful for me

Lyrabee · 02/08/2023 23:19

How is everyone doing? I'm waiting my medication being delivered (should be here tomorrow). Not sure if there's a August group I should be on instead of this but I like this group 💜

@Lyrabee Getting closer now then 🤞🏼 Have they said when the transfer is likely to be?
Nothing much going on with me, we had our follow up appointment through for 20th September so we’ve got a little time to decide whether to try another transfer this year or hold off until next year.

What are you guys leaning towards?
They'll work out an ish date when my period starts which should be over the weekend x

Half asleep! Meant to tag you @HopefulHead

@Lyrabee I think we’re more leaning towards leaving it for a while. Because we have to start paying from here on too I’ve said I’d like us to save up a bit of money / clear any debts we have so we’re in a good position whether it works or not next time. Also happy to get some clear head space and reassess if it’s right for us, just feels like it’s taken over our lives for so long and I’m not sure how long we want to continue in the whirlwind of IVF 😬

Ah hopefully not long to wait then! Do you have to take drugs from when AF starts then?

Lyrabee · 03/08/2023 09:30

@HopefulHead sounds like you've thought it through lovely, it not like IVF is going anywhere. You can have a break and come back if you want all refreshed. Appreciate its not an easy journey and not an easy decision to make.

Yeah estrogen from day one and then pessaries and jabs from day 10 I think

OP posts:
HopefulHead · 03/08/2023 09:41

@Lyrabee Yeah that’s what I figured, I know at 34 time has started to tick but as the embryos are safely in the freezer I don’t think taking a year or so out will make much difference.

Hopefully the next 14 or so days go quickly for you then 🤞🏼🥰 I’ll be keeping everything crossed for you ❤️

Lyrabee · 03/08/2023 09:45

@HopefulHead thanks lovely and I agree, plus coming back when you're ready to will count for something I hope 🩷 if your hearts not really into it at the moment, you'll just start resenting it and that's not how you want to bring a baby into the world 💜

OP posts:
HopefulHead · 03/08/2023 11:32

@Lyrabee Thats so true; thank you 🥰

KG1244 · 05/08/2023 00:11

Sorry for going a bit MIA. Not sure what I’ve been doing 😂

@HopefulHead sounds like a sensible approach. A few months really won’t make any difference so definitely do what you need to do. The whole thing is so exhausting and draining and it really does take over your life!

@Lyrabee ive started spotting today so hopefully should come on properly over the weekend so looks like cycle buddies a go go!

Lyrabee · 05/08/2023 23:15

@KG1244 ooh that's exciting! I'm feeling very bloated so expecting AF any day now. By my calculations it would have been Friday but my app says Tuesday lol

OP posts:
KG1244 · 06/08/2023 10:55

@Lyrabee ah hopefully any day now! I started this morning so have my first scan on Tuesday eeekkkkk

how are you doing @pixiemum2 Xx

Lyrabee · 08/08/2023 18:42

Aaah @KG1244 how was the scan? I started on Sunday eve so I've got my scan next weds to see if my lining is thick enough. I'm hoping it is so I can start the progesterone and have transfer early the week after as I'm at a wedding later in the week!

OP posts:
KG1244 · 08/08/2023 18:47

@Lyrabee all good so I start on the patches today and then all being well, I will move to injections and pessaries on 17th and hopefully transfer on the following week 😬
will we be a week apart then?

Lyrabee · 08/08/2023 18:53

@KG1244 we will be the same week!

My scan to check lining is 16th so I'm expecting to start the progesterone on the 17th or 18th :)

How exciting! Do you have more scans? I only have the one!

OP posts:
KG1244 · 08/08/2023 19:00

@Lyrabee 🙌🏻 Yayyyy 🙌🏻

I don’t think so no. Just one on 17th as far as I know.

pixiemum2 · 09/08/2023 14:50

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well.

@KG1244 @Lyrabee so excited for your pending cycles soon!! You'll be PUPO in no time 🙌

On my side this particular journey has come to an end. Miscarriage confirmed today and tomorrow I will go to the Early Pregnancy Unit to have it medically managed. I have had time to process it and am now focused on recovery and re-nourishing my body after the pregnancy passes.

Doctor said that it is most likely due to genetic abnormalities of the embryo.

We have 3 more good quality frozen embryos but will be around October before we can try a FET. This was a fresh transfer, and our very first IVF attempt, I now feel like I need to learn all about what's involved in a FET as I'm guessing the process, drugs etc are a bit different.

Will probably start an Oct thread later at some point but obviously hoping none of you will be joining that! 🤞 Sending baby dust to all, I'll still hang around here for a bit to hopefully celebrate some good news from those about to start their transfers 🙌

Lyrabee · 09/08/2023 16:46

Hey @pixiemum2 so sorry to hear that but it sounds like you're being taken care of and on the right track.

The FET is a much easier process (I've found) so I'll keep all my fingers and toes crossed for you xx

OP posts:
KG1244 · 09/08/2023 17:15

@pixiemum2 so sorry to hear this outcome ❤️ Sounds like you are taking care of yourself. I’m sure you need a bit of break so October sounds sensible. Please keep us updated on here with how you get on. I echo what @Lyrabee said. FET is not as intense as a fresh round although I’m already feeling mega tired from the hormone patches but definitely manageable. Lots of post work naps for me 😂

Lyrabee · 09/08/2023 17:53

@KG1244 yeah im tired and oh so cranky lol

OP posts:
KG1244 · 11/08/2023 16:26

@Lyrabee what a joy 😂 I’m definitely feeling less tired today so I think it was just an initial shock to my body of the extra hormones!

Lyrabee · 11/08/2023 16:51

@KG1244 that's good! I am tired but it was so warm last night I didn't sleep well so I'm blaming that!

OP posts:
KG1244 · 11/08/2023 17:02

@Lyrabee yes it has suddenly got a bit warm! Urgh getting such itchy feet now with the transfer already 😂

HopefulHead · 11/08/2023 18:07

@Lyrabee & @KG1244 Im still here reading your posts and keeping everything crossed for your transfers 🤞🏼😃
I hope this month will be the month for both of you and so nice you’re doing it together ❤️
