IVF/ICSI/FET - June 23

Hi!

I'm going to be starting my medications ready for a FET in June. Anybody else in the same boat or starting their cycles?

I've done one round of ICSI and had a fresh transfer in March that wasn't successful but we got 5 frozen day 5 blastocysts from it. Happy to answer any questions for anyone starting their journeys :)

Also, my tests are still stark white today (5dp5dt) which I thought I’d be really upset about as it seems 5dp5dt is when most women get their first squinted…. BUT, I have woken up with insanely sore boobs, went to bed early last night and slept straight through, and last night I went from crying at the tv to shouting at my DH, so I’m either just starting to get pregnancy symptoms or I’m probably gonna come on today, which is kind of comforting to know that either way I’ll know soon. I think the wait is feeling harder for me than seeing the negatives now to be honest 😭

@Lyrabee Sorry I missed your post about your sil having twins 😞 that must sting a lot.
Its really bitter sweet when it’s a close relations isn’t it, in other circumstances you’d be over the mood to have new Bruce’s / nephews but ivf just sucks the joy out of any announcements like that doesn’t it 😞
Hopefully you will have your own good news soon and others bundles of joy will become a blessing to you again ❤️ But for now, I think it’s perfectly reasonable if you fake the lurgy for the next few weeks / months so you can limit the contact you have with them xx

@wtawtaw yes this was my first transfer. We did a fresh transfer and we have 3 embryos in the freezer. Re: cyclogest, my clinic actually stopped them after ET and switched me to progesterone injections, these are intramuscular though so a bit more uncomfortable than the stims subcutaneous ones.

@HopefulHead sounds like you'll know very soon, I get that it's hard not to test but the sensitivity of these tests is probably too low to detect HCG hormone so early. I remember reading that HCG is produced in detectable amounts around days 9-10 post transfer, so still a bit early. Sending you lots and lots of positive vibes.

@Lyrabee it is not at all easy to have close family members popping out kids when you're going through IVF. I have struggled with this too and if I feel I can't put on a brave face, then I'll just avoid gatherings where I know there'll be lots of preggos/newborns. You have to be kind to yourself during this time considering how much you put your body through physically as well as emotionally.

@HopefulHead Bruce's! I thought that was an interesting choice of word 🤣
Did you manage to find more early tests? They're definitely not very sensitive this early. Hopefully you'll get a line in the next couple of days!

I won't be going to see the twins any time soon, they live quite far away but I'll still get all the Facebook posts!

@pixiemum2 Yeah it’s deffo still very early but I just don’t ‘feel’ like it works if that makes sense? Really glad now I’m not on progesterone as I know that can mimic pregnancy symptoms so definitely think I’d be driving myself insane 😭
Im making a new plan today while I’m at work to give me something to focus on if I do come on. Not sure whether that will be another transfer asap or putting it all on hold until next year 😬

@Lyrabee I didn’t manage to find any more, used one frer today so have one left for the weekend, then I have a clear blue digital early that I’ll use on OTD as I know I’ll get a clear ‘pregnant/not pregnant’ so I can draw a line under it either way.

I don’t blame you for keeping your distance for a while, makes it a bit easier with them being a while away! I came off all social media eventually, Facebook was the first to go!! Seeing pregnancy announcements and people having babies was just too hard and I realised it was all just making me too sad.

@HopefulHead I don't blame you! I don't go on it very often but when I do it drives me mad. I just use it for family updates.

Aaah so you can have a couple of days off testing I guess? Making plans is good, do you feel like you need a break from it all?

@Lyrabee Yeah it is good for getting updates to be fair, I generally just rely on my sister and friends to keep me up to date with any gossip and remind me when it’s someone’s birthday 😂
Yeah I think so, kinda feel like I might come on today to be fair, although I’ve just realised I have no pads with me as I optimistically took them out my work bag last month 🙈
Think I’ll look at finances and see if we can squeeze in a holiday before Xmas to have something to look forward to 😬

Wow I’ve missed a lot in one evening. I was so shattered after work, I had a nap, made dinner and then went back to bed 😂

@Lyrabee hope you’re doing ok. I always find it really difficult when friends or family have babies and kind of avoid it like the plague. Be kind to yourself and do what you need to do.

@HopefulHead 5 days is so so so so early and period and pregnancy symptoms are basically the same which is just pure evil.

@HopefulHead most evil of evil!!! I think I just made the decision before the transfer and was kind of set on it but I think most people do test early!

@KG1244 I decided before transfer that I wouldn’t test until this Saturday and I was urge I’d have enough self control… but aparently I don’t 🤣

@HopefulHead i mean I was awake the whole night of testing day and caved at 4am 😂

I think there needs to be a new law where everyone doing ivf is given a free holiday once a month 💁🏼‍♀️ You know, to help with our mental health (and our tan) 🍑😇

Looks like I’ve come on this morning 😞 and still testing negative so looks like I’m out.
Im kinda glad now I did start testing early as it was like the dissapointment came bit by bit rather than just coming on this morning and not being prepared for it.
I definitely don’t feel like I’ll be doing another transfer soon to be honest, I’ve found the last week almost impossible 🙈

@HopefulHead so sorry to hear ☹️urgh it’s so shit. Take care of yourself and give yourself time to rest. The whole thing is so draining and exhausting. Feel like I’m only just starting to get my energy back xx

Thanks @KG1244 It’s pretty hard to be at work today and getting quite bad period pains too now (Mother Nature really likes to put the boot in doesnt she?!) but at least it’s keeping me distracted and it’s nearly the weekend !

Aww @HopefulHead I'm sorry 😞 its all just so shit. Definitely get that holiday booked ASAP!
When we got our result we booked Disney Paris lol which may be a bit excessive but never mind!

@Lyrabee Oooh I don’t bloody blame you!!!

Ive stopped bleeding now but got awful cramps, so I’m really confused 😞 it’s too late for implantation bleeding but my periods are always just start then get heavier, I never really get stop-start… but not sure if the stress and being poked and prodded could have messed it up a little.

I wish I’d just get a definite answer one way or the other cause it’s just awful not knowing 😭

@HopefulHead sorry to hear this, although really hope it turns for the better and you have stopped bleeding! Are you still taking progesterone?

@wtawtaw Im doing natural so no progesterone, think I’d be a bit less worried if I was as I could just blame the random bleeding on that then 😬
