IVF/ICSI/FET - June 23

Hi!

I'm going to be starting my medications ready for a FET in June. Anybody else in the same boat or starting their cycles?

I've done one round of ICSI and had a fresh transfer in March that wasn't successful but we got 5 frozen day 5 blastocysts from it. Happy to answer any questions for anyone starting their journeys :)

@KG1244 Hopefully it does pass soon 🤞🏼
I think I’d happily wait until test day cause I’m pretty scared of getting a negative, but I’m also scared that I’ll come on at work when I’m on my own 😬 I’m due on between wed-Fri but if it’s bad news I’d rather find out at home with DH where I can cry it out rather than going to the toilet at work to see I’ve come on and have to go back to my desk and try and act normal 😭 I’m kinda regretting not going controlled now 🫣

HopefulHead · 10/07/2023 11:15

And I just ordered 10 new books instead 😂

KG1244 · 10/07/2023 13:23

@HopefulHead 10 books is impressive. Nice plan! Oh it’s so hard. Can you work from home? I think a lot of clinics do natural first round and then try medicated. I’m guessing that is what they will say to me….

Lyrabee · 10/07/2023 13:23

Awww @HopefulHead I love some book therapy! I cant remember when is your OTD? Did you say it's earlier for you due to natural?
All the baby dust and positive vibes to you!

HopefulHead · 10/07/2023 13:50

@KG1244 I can’t wfh unfortunately 😓 But I’m hoping if I take a test Friday (7dp5dt) it may be soon enough for me to know if I’m out or not 🤞🏼
My clinic try and do controlled for most to be fair but I was adamant I wanted to do natural 🙈

@Lyrabee Me too, I’ve managed to get kindle in my work computer so it looks like I’m intensely reading an important email but actually just reading a good murder mystery 😂
My OTD is still 11dp5dt so the 18th but if it hasn’t worked I would definitely have come on by then anyway 😬

Lyrabee · 10/07/2023 14:30

@HopefulHead hahaha I admire this greatly! When I work from home I often sneak in the odd chapter when im not on calls😆

Ah okay! I thought yours was earlier for some reason. I think 7dp5dt would be a good indicator but might be slightly on the line. Excited for you!

KG1244 · 10/07/2023 14:50

@HopefulHead completely fair, I think it’s definitely worth trying. let me know if any of the books you picked are good!

The consultant has agreed for me to try medicated this time using estrogen patches. I presumed it would be injections so quite surprised. Anyone done this before?

HopefulHead · 10/07/2023 15:04

@Lyrabee I don’t know how anyone gets any work done wfh so a sneaky chapter here and there is good going! 🤭
I hope so 😬 gonna go and get some more FRER tonight so I will have enough to test early and still have one for OTD 🤞🏼

@KG1244 Thats good news then? Was it today you had your follow up meeting? Hopefully they’ve got a plan in place for you then 🤞🏼

Lyrabee · 10/07/2023 15:14

@KG1244 they offered me patches or tablets and I opted for tablets. They just release the estrogen gradually over the course of the day to keep the lining nice and thick :)

OP posts:
KG1244 · 10/07/2023 16:32

@HopefulHead yes, had it earlier today. Got my nurse consultant later this week and then hopefully will do my next round of FET in august. Not feeling majorly confident with a 4BC but come on little embryo!!

@Lyrabee interesting. Did you just take tablets or are there injections as well?

Lyrabee · 10/07/2023 16:36

@KG1244 August is only 3 weeks away :) everything crossed for the little embryo! Did they give any idea as to why it might not have worked for you?

I had the tablets and then just the pessaries for progesterone. I think I'll try the patches next!

OP posts:
KG1244 · 10/07/2023 16:41

@Lyrabee they said chances are that there was an issue with the embryo but it’s difficult to know so I thought it would be better to try something different for next time to see if medicated makes a difference.

so is it 2 weeks of the patches/tablets before transfer?

Also, did you say you were also looking at doing another round next month?

HopefulHead · 10/07/2023 16:41

@KG1244 Thats good that you can get going again quite quickly then, and I’ll keep everything crossed for your magic little 4BC 🤞🏼❤️

Lyrabee · 10/07/2023 17:16

@KG1244 I'm hoping they will let me start on my next cycle yes :) I had 19 days of tablets before the transfer itself and they carried on until OTD

OP posts:
KG1244 · 10/07/2023 18:17

@HopefulHead thank you ❤️

@Lyrabee ahhh FET buddies again! Hopefully more successful this time ❤️

Lyrabee · 10/07/2023 18:21

@KG1244 that would be ace! I worry they might make me wait an extra cycle though as last time they wanted to make sure I was back to normal but that could have been because it was a fresh cycle

OP posts:
HopefulHead · 10/07/2023 19:11

@Lyrabee & @KG1244 Glad you’ll both (hopefully) be able to get going again next month 🥰

Me and DH have just been driving round trying to find some FRER’s and can’t get none anywhere 😭 even Amazon is earliest delivery week after next, what’s going on?! 🙈
Ive only got 2 tests so wanted another 2 so I could test early as don’t want to waste the 2 I’ve got before OTD 😬 So looks like I may have to wait after all 😅

Lyrabee · 10/07/2023 19:18

@HopefulHead might not be the worst thing :P I actually looked for FRERs as well and couldn't find any. Usually Boots is my go to but they were all out and amazon only had the quick response rather than early. Clear blue have an early one you can get as well.

OP posts:
HopefulHead · 10/07/2023 19:22

@Lyrabee Yeah I’ve always used boots too, but they seem to have stopped stocking them 🤷🏼‍♀️
I was hoping to get the FRER’s so any line progression was clear being on the same brand but I think maybe I’ll just use the cheapy sticks and save the FRER’s for OTD 🤞🏼
You could be right that it might not be a bad thing to be honest 🤣

KG1244 · 10/07/2023 21:17

@HopefulHead yes, feeling a bit more upbeat with a plan. Is FRER the first response test?

@Lyrabee ah. That would make sense with a fresh cycle. When will you know for definite? I’ll let you know what I’m advised on Thursday.

@pixiemum2 how are you doing?

Lyrabee · 10/07/2023 22:30

@KG1244 we don't have our review meeting until the 21st which might be cutting it fine but it's the earliest appointment we could get!

OP posts:
KG1244 · 10/07/2023 22:38

@Lyrabee you might be alright. If you can, it’s worth phoning up for cancellations, I’ve managed to bring appointments forward slightly - probably cause they got sick of me phoning 😂

Lyrabee · 10/07/2023 22:52

@KG1244 well I still have some medication left over and tbh you can order next day delivery. It's how fast the nurse processes the consent forms

OP posts:
HopefulHead · 11/07/2023 06:33

@KG1244 Yeah it’s the first response early results ones 😬
Glad you’re feeling better now you’ve got a plan 😃

I stupidly (I know 🫣) took a test this morning, no surprise it was negative and now I’m kicking myself for doing it cause it’s made me lose a lot of hope even though I KNOW it is too early.
I read so many posts about how hard the TWW is but you really can’t imagine just how hard it is until you’ve done it can you 😭

Lyrabee · 11/07/2023 09:42

Oh no @HopefulHead 😢 it is still very early. I know the Internet is full of people who test early and get positives but they're a minority I promise. Its hard not to do a test, as soon as you think of it it drives you mad until you do it - I've definitely been there!
Try to stay positive, you know it was too early - you've got a chance still!
