Create Fertility - Experiences

1000 replies

Sunflower360 · 13/05/2023 07:41

Hi 👋

I was hoping for people's experiences and thoughts on Create Fertility? I am considering them, so any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I am currently going through a short protocol with high stims with another clinic, baseline scan showed 4-5 follicles (expected that as I have low AMH/low ovarian reserves) but through my high stimulation am only showing 1, maybe 2 follicles that are growing...so cycle is not looking great.

So I wanted to consider Create as they specialise in natural modified and mild IVF, but would appreciate feedback on people's experiences as we would be going in multi cycle with my low AFC/AMH and want to ensure it's the best decision in those circumstances.

Thanks!

@Doxy21 Thanks, being cautious though, one thing this fertility journey is to not get too excited about things as can go wrong at any point! @Jx3303 thanks for sharing, hopefully they still grow a bit between now and egg collection

Only reason I asked about trigger is because I only got one with my NHS cycle which was a disaster... interesting how things are done differently!

@Sunflower360 I also had single trigger for both my disastrous cycles. I'm with you there on being cautious, I'd hard not to be when previously things have gone wrong isn't it. Hopefully you have a nice injection free day tomorrow! Xx

Sunflower360 · 13/09/2023 13:10

Yes quite! And thank you 😊

Been told I need 1.5 trigger, following my bloods.... bit different!

I’ve just had my call. They’ve suggested natural modified with added tamoxifen tablets - gonal f every other day, tablets every day from day 2/3 and no cetrotide. I asked about mild to maximise chances. Essentially they said no as I only had 5 follicles on my last scan. I pointed out at CRGH I had 4 follicles and that got 3 eggs. She suggested if this doesn’t work we can do mild on cycle 3 and that my meds would be 225 instead of 150 because I’m slightly overweight. For natural modified they don’t go over 150. We settled on: a scan on day 1 or 2 of my next cycle. If have over 5 follicles I can do mild. If 5 or less the natural modified with the modifications. She said ‘you got 3 eggs and no baby last time but I guess this time you didn’t get a baby either if you look at it that way’ but I kind of feel like I’m stages of progress a blast is better than no egg! I’m glad hubby was there - he asked about the studies behind use of tamoxifen etc. She kinda said it probably won’t make a difference. But it’s what’s given to women who don’t ovulate I think. At least they are changing my protocol and didn’t say there was no hope. The aim is still one egg!

@Doxy21 good that you will be monitored more closely... you may find this thread interesting, I stumbled across it a while ago abs it referemces Tamoxifen

@Doxy21 if you have no cetrotide would they monitor you really closely to prevent premature ovulation before egg collection?

Sunflower360 · 14/09/2023 13:13

@HopefulElle how are you? Hope you're ok, are there any amendments for your next cycle?

Sunflower360 · 14/09/2023 13:14

@Woodcottage1 hope you're doing ok after the test result

Doxy21 · 14/09/2023 13:49

Hi @Sunflower360 yes and they add it if needed. Excited for collection tomorrow?

Sunflower360 · 14/09/2023 14:08

More nervous than excited to be honest @Doxy21 just hope at least 1 egg is collected!

OP posts:
Jx3303 · 14/09/2023 14:22

@Sunflower360 enjoy your injection free day today! Is collection first thing? Understand you being nervous, I always am. They'll take very good care of you and I have everything crossed 🤞🏻

@Doxy21 it sounds like your meeting went well and that now you've got a few options depending on the next scan. I hope you're feeling ok and I hope the Dr wasn't too insensitive "no baby last time", doesn't sound like the nicest thing to say so I hope it wasn't as abrupt as it sounds! So are you able to go again as soon as your period arrives or do you have to wait for another cycle? Xx

Sunflower360 · 14/09/2023 14:30

Thanks @Jx3303, yep early tomorrow. Will keep you all updated whatever the result 😊

OP posts:
Doxy21 · 14/09/2023 15:34

Thanks @Jx3303 It wasn’t abrupt but she was kind of choosing to view it that way - ‘you had 3 eggs and no baby’ yeah but 3 eggs with no baby is better than no eggs with no baby. An egg, albeit unsuccessful, is better than no egg surely. It takes you to the next step at least.

HopefulElle · 14/09/2023 22:18

I’ve missed a lot on this post sorry, busy week - at least it’s kept my mind off waiting! Best of luck tomorrow @Sunflower360 x

HopefulElle · 14/09/2023 22:25

@Sunflower360 I’m ok (ish!) thanks, just got to wait it out until my next period and see what happens then. If we can’t proceed with the next one I’ll really be at my limit I think, just want to get all 3 done! First one went so well (only one egg, but that’s good for me) then 2 cancelled in a row. I just hate not being able to plan anything, could really use a holiday but feel like I can’t book anything in case period comes early. I’m a planner through and through so something outside of my control is hard for me to deal with.
Anyhow - hope your collection goes well!

Sunflower360 · 15/09/2023 06:14

Thanks @HopefulElle I've learnt with this journey to hope for the best, expect the worst... its like an emotional rollercoaster. You have an embryo in the freezer so that is a win and you still have 2 cycles so it's positive but cycle cancellation is horrible, I had one when I had the NHS cycle such was my first step on this journey and it was the first knock back but in hindsight was a good decision. Know what you mean about being a planner I'm exactly the same! I'm determined to get through these collections before Christmas but of course will have to see how each one goes

OP posts:
Jx3303 · 15/09/2023 07:00

@Doxy21 I'm glad it wasn't as harsh as it sounded. In my experience some of the previous conversations I've had with women Drs (NHS too) they can be much more abrupt and less sensitive for some reason.

@HopefulElle it's so hard not being able to plan anything isn't it, I feel the same. I'm always like "no idea what I'm doing and when for the foreseeable". 2 cancelled in a row must have been extremely hard, I really hope that next cycle is much better for you. If only our bodies would behave when we need them to. Did they ask for any bloods to be done? With my cancelled cycle I had my prolactin and thyroid checked. Although I'm sure it depends on whatever your bloods were at time of cancellation - I'm sure something of mine was too high and my follicles were all less than 6mm on Day5.

@Sunflower360 thinking of you today 🩷 I hope it all goes well and you have a restful afternoon. Xx

HopefulElle · 15/09/2023 07:18

@Jx3303 it is! Trying to stay positive and just delay holidays until we’re finished, wherever that might be! They didn’t do any extra bloods other than the ones they did at my first cycle scan both times.
@Sunflower360 getting all 3 done by the end of the year was my hope too 🤞🏼

Doxy21 · 15/09/2023 07:59

Good luck @Sunflower360!

Sunflower360 · 15/09/2023 10:43

Thanks @Doxy21 @HopefulElle @Jx3303

So had the egg collection, got 5 eggs (not sure how many, if any are mature). There was one (think dominant follicle) on the left that they could not access, needle went in the ovary (which sits high anyway) but follicle was too high so that's still inside me. That was a bit of a challenge with my NHS cycle too but they managed to extract the eggs, but sounds like the follicle was too high and there was only one there. The Dr did say they will assess with next 2 cycles where the lead follicle is from the first scan and if its on the left they may cancel and re start the following month....so bit nervous about that as that could lead to cycle cancellations, but will take it as it comes. I'm kind of inclined to see what happens with this cycle as I wouldn't want to keep cancelling if most the eggs were on the right anyway...but we'll see what happens.

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 15/09/2023 10:44

Dr said he extracted all follicles and from my last scans there were a few 6mm's so will see if any of the eggs end being mature

Jx3303 · 15/09/2023 10:50

@HopefulElle stay positive and hopefully you can enjoy some nice weekends between cycles. I will hopefully have done my 3 cycles within the year - first was November last year, second (attempt 1) was end of January but was cancelled, second (attempt 2) end of March. The MMC of course meant that we took a long break (it's 4 months since we found out about the MMC) but hopefully this next one goes to plan and that will be them done.

@Sunflower360 that's great news 🩷 I hope that all are mature and it's a very positive update tomorrow 🤞🏻are you doing icsi? Hope you're feeling ok and resting up. I have one ovary that's in a bit of a funny position too. Yes take each day as it comes and cycles can vary so much. Everything crossed for your call tomorrow xx

Doxy21 · 15/09/2023 11:04

@Sunflower360 5 is amazing and based on your pre trigger number I would hope the majority of those 5 were mature 🤞🏽

Sunflower360 · 15/09/2023 13:18

@Jx3303 thanks, did they manage to extract the follicle on your ovary that sits differently? I think if it was like this cycle I'd want to proceed, be silly to cancel egg collection for 1 ovary that has less eggs in... but we'll see what the follow up call involves when we have it, plus need to see what happens tomorrow. Yep we're due to have ICSI if there are mature eggs, in my NHS cycle earlier this year only 2 of the 4 were mature

@Doxy21 thanks, hope you're ok
