IVF/ICSI/FET May 2023

Hi, I don't think there's a thread for May, not that I could find anyway.

I've just started Norethisterone to bring on AF ready for my FET. I had my ICSI cycle in Feb but was high risk for OHSS, so after retrieving 24 eggs, this clinic decided to freeze all.
Luckily, because I ended up very unwell with OHSS for around 6 weeks and ended up in hospital for a little while!

But I've recovered and soooo ready for my embabies! We're aiming for transfer week commencing 22nd May unless AF comes earlier than planned then it might be the week before. It's likely as I'm on CD46 with all the signs of imminent AF 🤞🏼

If anyone else is cycling in May please feel free to share the journey ✨

@SErunner I know it’s really stressful and disheartening. During our last cycle I was bleeding and having intense pain but our Betas were still going up and tests were getting darker, unfortunately it wasn’t great news for us in the end but I have seen so many positive cases and I think if you don’t have pain and your AF has not arrived it’s also super positive! Bleeding is just so common in so many different instances isn’t it, it’s a little like the progesterone/pregnancy symptoms.

have you decided when you will test and if you will hold off until your otd? Mine is not for another 6 days and they don’t do Hcg unless there’s issues so I might book it privately.

MaybeBabyTwo · 12/06/2023 14:29

@FrostedFlake I'm doing okay thanks. Just very sad. Clinic have agreed I can stop medication so that's one good thing at least. I'm hanging around here rooting for you all x

SErunner · 12/06/2023 16:33

@FrostedFlake yes we decided we're going to hold out to OTD (Fri) as would rather just know for definite. I think if I tested now and it was negative I would still be unsure so would rather just wait. Thank you for the reassurance. Bleeding is just so triggering isn't it? However much my head rationally says it might not mean anything bad!

@MaybeBabyTwo I'm glad you're able to stop meds. Take the time you need before considering the future. It is so very sad to have so much hope and then it disappear. I am sorry.

@FrostedFlake how are you getting on? Your OTD sounds later than mine but think we had transfer on the same day?

Ellenn · 12/06/2023 18:13

@MaybeBabyTwo im so sorry to hear your update, just the worst thing possible when you have put in so much to get this far 😢 take care there aren’t any words to describe it are there. How are you doing? xxx

MBiss89 · 12/06/2023 22:58

I am bleeding now aswell, feel like its the start of the end. Having cramps aswell x

SErunner · 13/06/2023 05:31

@MBiss89 I'm sorry, it's really distressing isn't it? What dpt are you and when is OTD? Have you tested at all yet? Huge hugs.

MaybeBabyTwo · 13/06/2023 07:27

Oh @MBiss89 I'm so sorry 😔😔 hopefully it isn't. Feel free to message if that would help x

Marisadea · 13/06/2023 07:43

I had pink discharge and brown spotting this morning as well. I am 13dp6dt

SErunner · 13/06/2023 07:46

@Marisadea when was your OTD? I think you've already had positive tests? Some pink/brown spotting is normal. So long as it isn't heavy I would try not to worry too much (appreciate the irony of me advising you this)! Will hope it settles for you.

@MaybeBabyTwo how are you feeling today? And your partner?

I'm still having some pink/brown tinged discharge but not much. Counting down the days until Friday and trying to be hopeful.

SErunner · 13/06/2023 07:49

Sorry @greentin I missed your message. Yes I think we are on the same timeline. I don't know - it just seemed heavy for implantation bleeding but as it has now stopped I'm confused. I did have some implantation bleeding and pink/brown discharge with my last successful transfer and the consultant said I didn't need to change my progesterone dose then. I don't recall that being as much or as like bleeding as I've had this time but obviously it's been a few years. How are you?

Hello @SErunner thank you! Yes my OTD was Sunday and I got a positive digital. I hope everything is going well. I appreciate your lovely words ♥️

@MBiss89 yes mine is light too, mixed with the pessaries. I called thei GP and they can do a blood test in 2 weeks time -.- this is unbelievable..

SErunner · 13/06/2023 08:15

Gosh we're all having a bit of a nightmare at the moment aren't we. Hugs all round.

@MBiss89 if it's light that's good. As others said some bleeding is totally normal early pregnancy. Hope your clinic can be reassuring when you speak to them. I remember having pink/brown discharge for the first few weeks of my successful pregnancy, it's just so panicking seeing it isn't it.

@Marisadea will hope yours stays light too.

I'm also not very good at knowing the difference between spotting and bleeding! Like, how much is a little or a lot?!

SErunner · 13/06/2023 08:16

@Marisadea have you already had a blood test? Otherwise one isn't going to tell you much unfortunately. To some extent there is an argument for just waiting to see what happens unfortunately, there isn't anything they can do about it either way?

@SErunner yes nothing they can do, I am booked in for my first scan on the 6th July, I think I just have to wait and see. I also emailed the IVF nurses, let’s see what they say!

MaybeBabyTwo · 13/06/2023 08:33

I'm okay, I'm not crying quite so much this morning. I cried for pretty much 48hrs straight I think. I've got a blood test today to confirm levels are dropping back to 0, they've booked me a scan for Friday but when the beta was so low on Sunday they said if this was lower again they probably wouldn't bother with the scan. I'm just at the point now of hoping it all clears really quickly and easily so I don't need medication/surgery.

We need to decide what we do with the baby/sac/products of conception 😔 I think we may bury it in the garden and plant a rose on top or something like that. It's very hard.

MaybeBabyTwo · 13/06/2023 08:34

Those with light bleeding, hopefully it's nothing but if it does become heavy, I'd speak to your EPU (you'll likely need a referral through A&E or your GP). They've been really exceptionally great with me and they were really understanding of the stress of IVF.

MBiss89 · 13/06/2023 08:40

The nurses just said to wait until the 27th for my scan. Theres nothing they can fo at this stage. I will just have to monitor for now. Crazy how this is happening to lots of us. So unfair xx

Yes, so unfair. I am waiting to see what my nurses say about it.

greentin · 13/06/2023 11:53

Thanks @SErunner I’m ok.. I’m trying to prepare myself for a negative tomorrow when I plan to take the test. It sounds odd but I feel like it’s so quiet down there! No twinges no cramps. A little bit of cramping at this stage would be reassuring that something is nestling in…

glad to hear the bleeding has stopped! I know seeing any kind of discharge is worrying but from my past experience - the only pregnancy that worked out for me was the one where I got some pinkish blood for a day and the others where I had none resulted in negatives or mmcs .. it’s all very confusing

FlapJackered · 13/06/2023 14:39

@MaybeBabyTwo i hope you've managed to get some closure with the blood test.
I buried my 2 miscarriages in the garden and have planted a rose on top. It gave me a bit of peace to know they are not forgotten and somewhere I can go to think about them.

I am so sorry so many are struggling with bleeding. It's such a worrying time and so hard not to know what's going on. ❤️

FlapJackered · 13/06/2023 14:40

@greentin I didn't and still don't have any symptoms and was fully expecting a bfn, so you never know! 🤞

MBiss89 · 13/06/2023 17:25

I have booked an early scan next Weds at a difderent clinic as I need reassuring xx

MaybeBabyTwo · 13/06/2023 17:32

Dropped to 78 today (from 400ish 48hrs ago) so all looks to be clearing 'nicely' on its own. Funny the things you're grateful for when your baby just died... anyway. I am grateful. Clinic have been so so kind and have arranged a debrief/planning session as well as counselling for next week.

@MBiss89 good idea with the scan, reassurance is important x
