IVF/ICSI/FET May 2023

Hi, I don't think there's a thread for May, not that I could find anyway.

I've just started Norethisterone to bring on AF ready for my FET. I had my ICSI cycle in Feb but was high risk for OHSS, so after retrieving 24 eggs, this clinic decided to freeze all.
Luckily, because I ended up very unwell with OHSS for around 6 weeks and ended up in hospital for a little while!

But I've recovered and soooo ready for my embabies! We're aiming for transfer week commencing 22nd May unless AF comes earlier than planned then it might be the week before. It's likely as I'm on CD46 with all the signs of imminent AF 🤞🏼

If anyone else is cycling in May please feel free to share the journey ✨

I think my period is just coming soon.. brown discharge and AF pain like now..

MBiss89 · 13/06/2023 21:42

@Marisadea have you spoken to your clinic. My clinic told me to double up on pessaries for 2 weeks. Brown can sometimes be a good sign xx

SErunner · 13/06/2023 22:16

Sounds like a good idea @MBiss89. Will hope for a positive outcome for you. @Marisadea I'm sorry you're feeling cramps. Ditto what @MBiss89 - I wouldn't be so worried about brown discharge to be honest, especially if it's only a little bit. Cramping is normal too.

My bleeding has started again this evening and it's pink/red. I would definitely say it's more than spotting and im sure that's me out. It seems to link to when im due the next progesterone dose so I think the pessaries are the only thing holding off AF. My husband still doesn't want us to test until Friday so im going to wait but wish I could just get this over with.

Marisadea · 14/06/2023 04:59

Unfortunately my period came.. I am out.

SErunner · 14/06/2023 05:30

@Marisadea I'm so sorry you're out. This is such a cruel process x

Marisadea · 14/06/2023 07:18

It is.. and I had a 5AA embryo transfer, I am 31 years old, so I would think, this is going to work. Then positive test, but period came in the end. I don’t know what to think, If I will ever manage to become pregnant.

MBiss89 · 14/06/2023 07:28

Was this your 1st cycle @Marisadea
So sorry your feeling this way xxx

Yes, 1st cycle, fresh transfer.

Quickdraw23 · 14/06/2023 07:35

very sorry to hear this @Marisadea i felt similarly to you, I am 33 and had a 4AA transferred - optimal conditions i thought! But absolutely nothing. I have read some accounts online of people who has failed AA transfers going on to have success with BB and BC embryos, so I am trying not to give up hope yet.

@SErunner sorry to hear of all the stress you’re having in the TWW, it’s awful! Not long to go now and at least when you know you know. Thinking of you.

slight (yucky)aside from me, but has anyone who has stopped progesterone had any gut/digestive disruption?

Since I came off it on Friday I’ve had a really upset stomach, but then yesterday I was also sick and had a temperature, which sounds OTT for progesterone withdrawal, so maybe I’ve caught a sickness bug to cap off this wonderful cycle 😫 don’t know id anyone has any experience/insight into this?

SErunner · 14/06/2023 07:54

@Quickdraw23 I'd say it sounds like something separate annoyingly. The progesterone does mess with me tummy a bit but I'm not sure you'd expect it to cause a temperature? Hope you feel better soon x

greentin · 14/06/2023 08:04

sorry to hear that @Marisadea @SErunner

I’m also out. Day 9 today and tested negative. Will need to carry on with meds till Friday I think.

SErunner · 14/06/2023 08:07

💔 so sorry @greentin. Was this your OTD? Thinking of you, it's so upsetting seeing a BFN after all the effort we go through x

FlapJackered · 14/06/2023 08:16

Not good news this morning, I am so so sorry @Marisadea @Quickdraw23 and @greentin it's such a cruel process. ❤️

@Quickdraw23 I don't think the withdrawal from progesterone should be too bad. Although everyone is different. I definitely remember being very tired for a while after coming off the meds. Not fun. X

Marisadea · 14/06/2023 09:33

Called the nurses and going to get blood test done.

FrostedFlake · 14/06/2023 10:45

Im so sorry to hear all the sad news! Hope you are all looking after yourself! It’s such a difficult process for soo many of us.

I’m 9dp5dt and seem to be having really tender ovaries in the last two days, which is just so strange. I sneezed yesterday and had a sharp pain in my left ovary or the area in the region. Has anyone experienced anything similar at any stage? I don’t have OHSS as we only got 7 eggs in the end but I’m a little concerned by the tenderness specially when lying down.

Last time the doctors suspected I might have had an ectopic as my betas were doubling and I was bleeding and having intense pain but it ended up being a chemical pregnancy that unfortunately dragged out for weeks which messed with my head big time. So I’m going to keep an eye on it again but any advice is greatly appreciated.

MaybeBabyTwo · 14/06/2023 13:14

@FrostedFlake I had a lot of pulling pain in my groin/ovaries when pregnant (both times, with my daughter and most recently). I think they're called 'round ligament pain'. It's usually with movement and feels like a very sharp pulled muscle feeling, it is sharp initially but can take time to pass once I'd pulled it!

FrostedFlake · 14/06/2023 13:17

Thank you @MaybeBabyTwo I just thought it would be way too early as I’m only 9dp5dt. But that’s very reassuring ❤️

SErunner · 14/06/2023 14:54

Sounds positive @FrostedFlake! I definitely remember having some odd twinges with my first pregnancy. It's hard to know what means what with any of this stuff isn't it?

My bleeding stopped again overnight and I've just had some brown discharge today. I spoke with the clinic who said not to worry about the brown stuff as that will be remnants of old blood from the bleed yesterday. To stick with the plan and test Friday. She said to make sure I'm not putting the suppositories on too high as that can agitate the cervix so I'm being a bit less aggressive today 😂 still feel pretty certain it's over for us this round but generally feeling a bit better about it and trying to be grateful for what we have. Especially our unexpected embryo on ice 🤞

FrostedFlake · 14/06/2023 15:12

Thanks for the reassurance @SErunner and it could be growing pains as such or progesterone I guess we will have to wait and see. I just thought it would be so minuscule that surely it wouldn’t make me feel anything other than cramping.

That seems positive and you haven’t gotten your period yet either which is great! But if unfortunately things don’t work out (and I really really hope they do) you have a little embryo waiting on ice ❤️
ugh I used to hate those, they really aggravated my cervix and I ended up switching and going with the back end which was not pleasant but much better in terms of side effects for me.

greentin · 14/06/2023 16:16

@FrostedFlake like others have said I wouldn’t worry too much about tenderness I actually think a little bit of cramping / twinging / pulling can be a good sign that something is happening. I was always told that as long as you’re not doubling in pain it should be ok. I had ohss twice and the most obvious symptom is a big distended belly which starts off quite soon after egg collection or transfer and with 7 eggs you shouldn’t be at the risk of that..

@SErunner thanks for the kind words and for being part of my tww really rooting for you! I’m doing ok I’ve got my daughter to keep me busy and distracted from the rubbish day that is today and yes today was official otd but I have to carry on with meds till Friday

Marisadea · 14/06/2023 20:39

I just wanted to share a little bit my feelings today… I felt a deep feeling of sadness and loneliness. I know that I am not alone, but it’s a very particular feeling like someone abandoned you. It’s so hard to go ahead but I know that I will heal sooner than later. I want to take a break from all the meds, pregnancy test, spot symptoms, etc, take a deep breath and restart from my self. I am not planning to do a FET very soon, but I will be here to supporto you if needed. Thank you for being so kind throughout this journey. Such a precious help. God bless you all ♥️
