IVF/ICSI/FET May 2023

Hi, I don't think there's a thread for May, not that I could find anyway.

I've just started Norethisterone to bring on AF ready for my FET. I had my ICSI cycle in Feb but was high risk for OHSS, so after retrieving 24 eggs, this clinic decided to freeze all.
Luckily, because I ended up very unwell with OHSS for around 6 weeks and ended up in hospital for a little while!

But I've recovered and soooo ready for my embabies! We're aiming for transfer week commencing 22nd May unless AF comes earlier than planned then it might be the week before. It's likely as I'm on CD46 with all the signs of imminent AF 🤞🏼

If anyone else is cycling in May please feel free to share the journey ✨

Has anyone had any experience of Create Fertility clinic or know anyone who has? I'm not with them at the moment, but if this cycle did not work, we may consider them

Sj2505 · 03/05/2023 09:43

Wow so much to catch up on ☺️

@Sunflower360 welcome! I'd say your AMH is fine for IVF, they work wonders with much lower. Cod liver oil is really good for egg quality so that might help give them a boost.
You and I are in the same waiting stage, just waiting around for AF to start 🫤 I've just finished my Norethisterone, so mine should arrive in the next few days.

@ManchesterGirl2 you are very welcome to join! What an amazing thing you're doing. I hope you get some good quality eggs to freeze!
I wasn't too bad on the stims, definitely still able to get on with the day to day bits. But it's different for everyone so if it gives you some peace of mind getting ahead of things then go for it ☺️

@Jcl22 welcome, I think we were on a previous thread together 👋🏼
Another of us just waiting for AF! Hopefully DHs efforts will work wonders this time round

@Quickdraw23 pleased that the appointment went well!! With my med delivery I got to choose my delivery date and they were really good with updates. I was a bit overwhelmed with the amount that was delivered but it all falls into place if you take it one stage at a time. I only took out the meds I needed for the stage I was on and kept them in a big make up bag, the rest stayed in the box.

@Infertilitylife I don't remember it being awful, the worst bit was having such a full bladder and trying not to pee on the doctor 😂
Watching it on the screen is magical though!

@TheBirdintheCave welcome! Ahh don't think of it like that, think of it as your body's doing it too well haha.
I had to have an unexpected freeze all, I felt a bit disappointed at the time but I was so pleased in the end because I was so, so unwell for ages! I ended up in hospital. There's no way my body would have been able to support an embryo.
Hopefully you won't get unwell, but try to find a positive to focus on ☺️

Still no AF for me, but I've finished the meds so hopefully in the next couple of days!

Thanks @Sj2505 Fingers crossed! I am taking a high dose of CoQ10 although only started that just over a month ago so will unlikely show much benefit in this cycle....we shall see. @TheBirdintheCave that is a great number! Can appreciate the wait would be hard though

TheBirdintheCave · 03/05/2023 10:21

@Sj2505 I hope your AF comes soon! And yeah I really don't want to get OHSS but I'm fabulously unlucky so I most likely will which means there's a chance it will ruin my holiday in early June as well 😥 I'm sorry you were so ill with it :( It sounds horrible.

Hi all!

Would love to join this, about to head into my third round in a couple of weeks. I’ve had two disastrous cycles - first had almost no fertilisation and only managed one embryo which didn’t stick. Second one didn’t produce any mature eggs.

Really praying it’s third time lucky for me, will be on short protocol and using a double trigger.

Wishing everyone so much luck and look forward to reading about your journeys!! Fingers crossed for us all

Sunflower360 · 03/05/2023 19:03

Hi @Frenchwindows 👋 Sorry to hear about your other cycles, hopefully this one works out well. I am also on short protocol, first time for me so if you have any tips that would be really appreciated 🙂

FlapJackered · 03/05/2023 22:42

@Sunflower360 I am being started on 150 but last cycle I was on 75 so it's double doseing! When do you start stims?

I was with ABC which is basically create for my first cycle and last FETs. They were great such kind lovely people but it definitely felt no frills. I think if you're outside the box they are not so good. I moved after the failed ones because I needed a fresh start. Is that who you're with?

@TheBirdintheCave that's frustrating to have to wait but I am sure the holiday will be so welcome after egg collection! Hopefully it will mean lots of eggs though which is a bonus.🤞
Sorry to hear about your MCs. I am in a similar position with a son the same age and an mc last year too.

Hi @Frenchwindows sorry to hear you've had such bad luck with the last two. It's such a cruel process. Best of luck this time!

FlapJackered · 03/05/2023 22:42

Finished Norethisterone tonight…now the wait for AF. 😬
those on the other side, how long did it take for AF to show up?

TheBirdintheCave · 03/05/2023 23:25

@FlapJackered Congrats on finishing it! :) I went straight into short protocol so am no help unfortunately.

Sorry about your MC :(

Sunflower360 · 04/05/2023 07:00

@FlapJackered this is my first NHS cycle, nurses have been great where I'm at. Will see how this cycle goes and take it from there. Thanks for the advice in relation to ABC, the only reason I asked about Create is because they focus on low AMH, which is one of the challenges I have, keep seeing varying feedback on them though!

I am still hoping to start stims this week... just waiting on AF 😬

Frenchwindows · 04/05/2023 07:13

@Sunflower360 best of luck for your cycle !! Luckily with short protocol it’s over before you know it - are you on a low/high dose? I found injections not too bad - the needles are surprisingly thin!

For me because I am at risk of OHSS I just make sure to religiously drink at least 3 litres of water a day, I invested in the hugest water bottle known to man and kept it with me at all times!!

Sunflower360 · 04/05/2023 07:22

Thanks @Frenchwindows and hope you have a good cycle this time round. Yep I'm on a high dose of 300 IU, will see how it goes when I eventually start

Sunflower360 · 04/05/2023 07:24

@Frenchwindows also thanks about the water tip!!

TTCIVFMAMA · 04/05/2023 08:31

Hi all. I hope you guys don’t mind me jumping onto this thread for some advice. I’m a TTC IVF mama on my first FET cycle.

I’m 7dp5dt and have taken two clear blue tests. I’m unsure whether the lines look like they’ve progressed or if they’re even positive as I’ve heard that they’re notorious for evap lines. I’ve attached pictures so any advice would be great. The top one I took yesterday and the bottom one today.

Sending babydust to you all xxx

TheBirdintheCave · 04/05/2023 08:32

@Frenchwindows Will drinking loads of water help? I just can't physically manage it at all. I don't need much water in general to keep me going so to comparatively have to drown myself is really hard 😂

TheBirdintheCave · 04/05/2023 08:33

@TTCIVFMAMA Yes those are positives :) Those tests are 25miu so not early detections either. It's a really good line on those for (essentially) 12dpo.

TTCIVFMAMA · 04/05/2023 09:23

@TheBirdintheCave - oh thank you! I've heard they are notorious for evap lines so I didn't want to get my hopes up. How are you doing?xx

Frenchwindows · 04/05/2023 09:27

@TheBirdintheCave omg I know it feels really difficult at first to force it down!! The doctors have always drilled into me the importance of drinking loads of water and eating a high protein diet to prevent OHSS - and I listened because I’ve been at a really high risk. It’s much easier when you make it squash or put lemon and mint in it!

TheBirdintheCave · 04/05/2023 09:36

@Frenchwindows No one at my clinic advised this at all 😂They only mentioned the water thing as they said it would help prevent headaches whilst I'm on the meds. It's funny how we're all told different things. I'm high risk too.

HopefulHead · 04/05/2023 10:39

Hi all 👋🏼
I know I’m in different threads with a couple of you but thought I’d jump on this one too 🥰
Hoping to do FET in June after a freeze all cycle in March ❤️

Infertilitylife · 04/05/2023 13:34

Transfer went ahead this morning :) lining was at 10mm and went well.

TheBirdintheCave · 04/05/2023 15:13

@Infertilitylife Hoorah! Sounds excellent :D

Sunflower360 · 05/05/2023 08:23

Started my AF so stims will start tomorrow following the scan 😬 Any suggested questions I should ask of the nurses in the scan appointment? I have all meds ready to go

TTCIVFMAMA · 05/05/2023 08:50

Hi guys - just a quick question. Do pregnancy test lines differ based on the time you've taken them? May be a stupid question so apologies in advance.

TheBirdintheCave · 05/05/2023 12:47

@TTCIVFMAMA It's more to do with the concentration of the HCG in your wee. If you've been drinking lots the line will be paler at any time of day.

I had my second scan an hour ago. 44 follicles now so it will 100% be a freeze all cycle 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄 Still, at least with that many I can be sure we'll get at least a few good embryos to use so that's the only silver lining here.

Egg collection will be Tuesday at 10.30 with the trigger on Sunday night 😬
