IVF/ICSI/FET May 2023

Hi, I don't think there's a thread for May, not that I could find anyway.

I've just started Norethisterone to bring on AF ready for my FET. I had my ICSI cycle in Feb but was high risk for OHSS, so after retrieving 24 eggs, this clinic decided to freeze all.
Luckily, because I ended up very unwell with OHSS for around 6 weeks and ended up in hospital for a little while!

But I've recovered and soooo ready for my embabies! We're aiming for transfer week commencing 22nd May unless AF comes earlier than planned then it might be the week before. It's likely as I'm on CD46 with all the signs of imminent AF 🤞🏼

@Infertilitylife Congrats on the positive line! So you did this cycle with Fertility Port Prague? I also contacted them but we were already visiting Serum (Athens) then Reprofit (Brno) so our enquiry with Fertility Port didn't progress from the first contact. My impression of them was a small clinic that's been fairly recently founded (2014), which could mean more openness to the latest advancements in the industry, more flexibility. Reprofit appears to be well established, with over hundred employees, hopefully living up to their reputations but maybe less flexible, e.g. they don't do PGD to embryos fertilised by conventional IVF.

Ah good to hear lots of good news - @Sj2505 good to year the scan went well to proceed. @TheBirdintheCave great news in relation to your embryos. @infertilitylife the line definitely looks darker!

I had my day 5 scan today...not great they could only see 2 follicles, so may have my stims increased... just pending the call following my estradiol blood test this morning. It may go from 300 to 450 IU.... I'm not convinced ramping up the stims will make any difference but will give it a go. I think my body is just not taking to high stims, but we'll see.

@Caubabatko Yeah this cycle is with Fertility Port. I liked it as I felt they listened to me, I knew I would overstimulate so I asked for a lower dose of medication and they agreed etc. BUT we were originally going to go with Reprofit as I've only heard amazing things about them but the flights only being direct from Stansted really put me off and I knew I would get really stressed about it.

@Sunflower360 Fingers crossed you respond to the higher dose.

Thanks @Infertilitylife just had a call, apparently my estrogen levels are where they should be for day 5, so stims will only be increased to 375 rather than 450...will see how it goes

Also started Fyremadel today...bit of a stinger in comparison! 😅

@Sunflower360 Hope it wasn't too bad! I find them to be a slow burn.

@Sunflower360 I found that with Fyremadel. I found they weren't as bad if I did them slightly more to the side where the skin is softer and there's less muscle.

Thanks @Sj2505 will have to try that tip! Also, I got told by the nurse to do it to the opposite side of the stims injection each evening

@Sunflower360 I am sorry it was a disappointing one today, it’s such a rollercoaster isn’t it. Fingers crossed more develop. You hear of loads of people where more seem to pop up after day 5, so will keep fingers crossed for you.🤞

Is anyone finding there is a bit of liquid left in the syringe after injecting? I wonder if I am going to slow with it and so the last little bit isn’t coming out? I have found going slow reduces the bruisey-ness! So I am not too keen to change that, just worried I am missing some of the medication. 😵‍💫

I’ve gone a bit crazy and took another test this evening and I think it has got darker.

@Sunflower360 that’s great that your oestrogen is at the right level. Fyremadel stings so much! I got an ice pack off Amazon and made my tummy really cold before injecting and it did help.

@FlapJackered I always thought I had a little left in the infection but my clinic said as long as I had fully pressed the needle and held it in for ten seconds afterwards, it wouldn’t be enough for it to affect anything.

Thanks @Infertilitylife and @FlapJackered hopefully the next scan will be better, but we shall see. Also I found there is a bit left in my pre filled injection pens...I understand they have about 80 IU extra in them as a safeguard for testing etc

Hi folks, feeling really anxious today. I had some clear and thick discharge today and worried that I might have ovulated. I'm day 10 today, have another scan tomorrow. Iv emailed clinic and let them know but not heard back.
Has anyone else had this? Could it be a side effect of the Gonal F?
I'll be heartbroken if I have. This is 3rd cycle.

Hi @kingster1, I am on Gonal-F and had that today... I'm day 6 of stims tonight and started Fyremadel last night. I can't say I have been concerned by it... but please correct me if I'm wrong, anyone!

@Sunflower360 thanks for your reply. I'm really praying and hoping. When I saw the discharge I thought game over. I'm relieved that you have had it too, sounds like to might be just part of the stimulation. Although didn't have it in my previous 2 cycles. But meds are different this time.
I'm on long protocol, and Decapatyl everyday so hoping this would stop ovulation.

@kingster1, have you ovulated earlier previously? I just did a quick Google and it appears listed as a side effect of Gonal-F to see an increase of discharge so hopefully it is just that, but if you're concerned may be worth giving the clinic a quick call to double check as you're on other meds too. I'm on short protocol and just Gonal-F and Fyremadel at the moment

No problem @kingster1 my next scan is tomorrow too, which will be day 7 for me. Have you got much longer left of stimulation? Mine could go on for another week

Could I join in please? I've just had my day one scan and blood tests and been confirmed all fine to go ahead. Starting with first injection today. I'm 41 so not overly optimistic about things but they seemed happy enough with my results from today. I had 4 follicles on each side at the scan. They haven't given me my blood work results but obviously good enough to continue!

@kingster1 I was on Gonal F and had that pretty much every day up until egg collection.

@Sunflower360 good luck with your scan also. I'm day 11 tomorrow. Aiming for egg collection he said Sunday. Hoping for my 6 follicles to have 6 eggs. Or even 4, as long as they are good quality. Havnt booked return flights yet until we have egg collection. Wishing and hoping for a fresh transfer. X
