@BiscuitLover3678 I would say the actual collection itself was fine, so don’t worry! It’s just the lead up to it I felt so bloated and swollen and sore, I also wanted to vomit every time I saw the needle in the morning and evening as I injected 😵‍💫. I went to bed for the day after the procedure and slept off the anaesthesia and had mild cramps and a bit of soreness for a few days after. I wouldn’t advice exercising for a few days, well, I certainly didn’t feel up to it anyway, and if you have a really physical job as I did at the time, I would have taken a few days off. Only other thing is that my period was really heavy after collection. Are you aiming for fresh transfer or frozen? Xx

Oh that’s good to know! Definitely planning on taking everything as easy as possible. I wondered how it would feel with all the eggs building up. Is that physically the hardest time do you think?

Fresh cycle for me!

@BiscuitLover3678 yes it was definitely the physically hardest bit for me. But I did get mild OHSS so that’s probably why. Wishing you the absolute best with your transfer, it’s so exciting! I can’t wait to have my next one xx

@BiscuitLover3678 well done on cutting out caffeine - are you going decaf or just not having anything at all? I’ve ditched sugar completely (which was easier than I thought it would be!) and upped my water. We made a little star chart with my daily targets (exercise/certain food/water/vitamins etc) and I love it! Just trying to keep it fun 🤩

I’m so impressed! Sadly I have no ditched the sugar just yet, although I am trying to reduce again. A little hard with Easter! My aim is wait as long in the day as I can until I feel I really ‘need’ some. Similar for coffee and when I do have one it is one shot, so obviously way less than in an actual proper cup of coffee. And sometimes I have decaf later in the day for the psychological hit.

I’m excited for you guys too! I really hope we can all post positive baby news in a couple of months. I used to be on the conception threads every single month and it was so depressing. Every month new people would come on and leave.

Have you all even dared to look at due dates if our next transfers work? I think mine is around mid Jan.

OP posts:
IVFfirsttimer91 · 08/04/2023 11:17

If I get to have my transfer in may, I would be due in feb, if it’s June then March. I’d prefer feb for a number of reasons, one being that we stupidly booked a holiday to Mexico for September 😬it was really cute when I booked as the details for a baby not born yet on the booking is ‘Master TBC TBC’. If it had worked this time I would have been due in November. I hope we can all post good news in a couple of months too. Xx

Glad to hear I’m not the only one who’s already worked out due date!! I think we’re date twins as I would be mid Jan too :)

Hi can I join too?

I had my first FET on March 7th of this year, got the positive test and thought we had won the lottery. Found out today that pregnancy stopped developing so have come off the cyclogest and progynova. Will hopefully be having another transfer when I start my next period after this MC. I only had 1 embryo transferred in the first round as that was what my consultant recommended but I’m hoping to try two next time. We were really lucky and had 8 frozen.

Wishing everyone luck with upcoming transfers xx

Sorry to hear that, glad you’re taking care of yourself though xx

Fizzle1987 · 08/04/2023 12:07

Morning Ladies’, I hope you’re all well?

AF has just arrived and is, as usual, very painful. Does anyone know if I’m okay to take Ibuprofen whilst using Buserelin? I have messaged my fertility nurse but I’m assuming I won’t hear back as it’s Saturday and also a BH weekend.

Hope you’re all having a lovely relaxing Easter weekend 🐥🍫🐰 x

I have too, around the 15th/16th Jan based on if everything goes smoothly to exact dates 🤣.

@BiscuitLover3678 just joining in on this thread as I'm on a different ivf one, and have just seen your question about egg collection.

I've done three egg collections and found them all quite pain free. Bloating before hand is very uncomfortable but that the worst part.

Afterwards I was very constipated each time (very normal!) so make sure you've got some orange juice and prunes to hand.

Wishing you lots of luck xx

CR7 · 08/04/2023 15:48

@Fizzle1987 almost identical to mine if mine works. I've just had a down reg scan and started patches and tablets today for a frozen transfer in a couple of weeks x

yes, fingers crossed it works for both of us 👌🏼 might finally make me like January as I normally hate it 🙈. I spoke to my nurse this morning and I have to go for a scan on Monday and discuss starting my second injections. I hope you don’t get any bad side effects from your meds. So far I haven’t noticed anything on Buserelin, only my normal symptoms before AF. X

CR7 · 08/04/2023 16:05

@Fizzle1987 this time I'm on prostap as there was No buserelin. I'm not sleeping brilliantly but aside from that I'm absolutely fine.

Is this your first round? Sorry there was a lot on the thread and I didn't read every post.

This is my third frozen. First was a day one NHS freeze which was never going to work. Second was a private pgta frozen transfer. When that didn't work I had a Hysteroscopy and EndemeTRIO which came back that I have a displaced implantation window so fingers crossed this pgta frozen should work. I say should ha!

Yes, this is my first round so I’m going in totally unaware of what’s going to happen and how I’ll feel but just trying to take every step as it comes.

I had heard there was a shortage of Buserelin, my nurse got lucky and was able to order it. Did you have Buserelin last time? How did you find it?

Keeping everything crossed for you, do you have a date when you should be having your transfer? X

CR7 · 08/04/2023 16:30

@Fizzle1987 found it absolutely fine. No side effects. Prostap is the same except it was one single injection instead of every day so much easier.

You never get a transfer date so close to starting as they fit you in with other patients and monitor you closely throughout to ensure the endometrium is where it needs to be.

I have my next scan on the 17th and then I'll get my date then.

Let me know if you have any questions as I've probably had the same questions as you at some point. Xx

Thank you again for this. How long before egg collection did you feel bloated and did anything seem to help?

OP posts:
CR7 · 08/04/2023 20:17

I would say from about three days before the retrieval and nothing will help. The nurse explained it's bloating due to the size of the follicles and the amount of them, even if there are just a few. It's a good bloat if you know what I mean. I just wore trackies as much as I could with a really loose waistband. The second and third cycles I even bought my knickers in a larger size haha. If you think, some of the follicles get to 2cm so everything inside you is moved about. We say bloating but it's not bloat as it's not air and that's why there's no solution. But it's exactly what you want to happen so I tried to lean into it if you know what i mean xx

CR7 · 08/04/2023 20:19

Hi ladies! Hope you’re all doing ok?

a bit off topic but still relevant - can anyone recommend a good super trashy novel? I’m thinking I need a new book to read during the treatment to keep my mind occupied!

What kind of thing do you like?

Reading one atm called The Bookshop on the Corner which is an easy romcom. Also Emily Henry booos can be good.

Anything by D K Hood is great for a trashy easy read. Mixes murder/detective with smut 😂
