Hi all,

I'm about to start my first IVF ICSI cycle. I expect to start my stims next week and all being well will have a fresh transfer in April.

Looking for buddies to come on this journey with me.

Well guys we have 0 blastocyst!! They've all not progressed! They've recommended transfer of 2 of the "better" morulas in the hope they do better inside me than they have in the lab! Gutted! I'm not expecting a pregnancy from this and looks like we will be looking at a 3rd round 😢 seriously considering embryo donor abroad!

It's not unheard of for Morulas to be a success @MRSLMF

Totally understand your disappointment xx

Flowerlover010 · 24/07/2023 13:59

@MRSLMF dont lose hope completely my clinic said they do better in their natural environment. I totally understand your disappointment too though. Id say its still worth a shot.

VioletCookie · 24/07/2023 19:03

Thanks for the support everyone, it means a lot that you all understood. She might be coming home tomorrow so I can pop in at hers. I really want to see her, just got a bit freaked out by the environment. Sods law it's the one place I don't want to be!

AF is here so today is day 1, day 8 scan booked for the 31st. I had a big wobble yesterday, as so far having the FET just means more sadness is coming! Hopefully the 5th transfer is the one? 🙏🏼

@MRSLMF I'm sorry you're upset with the result, I know you must be feeling disappointed 😔 I think go for it though and see how they get on! How many blasto did you get on your first cycle?

@Flowerlover010 @charja100 how do you both feel today?

April623 · 24/07/2023 21:11

@CR7 thank you!

@MRSLMF so sorry to hear that,
I understand your disappointment aswell. We will hope for your miracle and I completely understand you wanting to manage your expectations and not get your hopes up too much... but you just never know! You could always look into donor egg or embryo in the meantime. I have discussed this with a clinic in Alicante and I feel so much more open to it than I did initially. And while we want to give my own eggs another shot it's nice to know it's an option and I think I would move onto that fairly soon if my next round fails. Good luck for your transfer 🤞🏼

@VioletCookie good luck for your cycle aswell! 🍀

CR7 · 24/07/2023 21:51

@April623 I can dig my protocol out if you want. Let me know d

April623 · 24/07/2023 22:14

@CR7 thank you that would be good to see if not too much trouble 🙂 x

CR7 · 24/07/2023 22:17

@April623 what do you want to know. I'll have a look for you tomorrow d

April623 · 24/07/2023 22:20

@CR7 I'm interested to know how your meds differed from single IVF but mostly the timings - how long was each stimulation and the length of time between retrievals x

CR7 · 25/07/2023 10:39

@April623 I'll look for you xx bear in mind I had problems with my endometrium so my protocol will be different xx

CR7 · 25/07/2023 11:17

@April623 17/8 and 6/9 for my duo stim retrievals xx

CR7 · 25/07/2023 11:19

@April623 PS yours may be less. For my first round with the nhs it was a shit show so I couldn't tell you that my duo stim was comparable meds wise or time wise xx

VioletCookie · 25/07/2023 13:45

Thank you @April623, best of luck to you also 🙏🏼

April623 · 25/07/2023 21:58

@CR7 thank you! I guess I will just have to see how it goes the first time round x

CR7 · 25/07/2023 22:36

@April623 I have no regrets about going for it, even though it was pricey. When do you start x

April623 · 26/07/2023 07:59

@CR7 We are planning for middle of September so I have a couple of months to get my head in gear for it as I'm not really feeling it at the moment. I think I'm just generally fed up.

I had a horrible lunch with work colleagues yesterday, everyone my age and a bit younger has children and it seems like that's all they talk about, with the other childless half being much younger and in a very different life stage so I have nothing to contribute to either conversation! I feel more and more that I'd rather avoid social situations for this reason. Does anyone else feel like that? x

CR7 · 26/07/2023 08:47

@April623 omg all the time. I'm 42 so people often said "you must be so glad you didn't have kids" or "don't have kids. It's a trap" or "god I'm envious of your child free life". They have absolutely no idea of their insensitivity. There will be good days and bad days for sure.

MRSLMF · 26/07/2023 16:56

I'm with you on that one @April623
Or when you meet new people and they ask if you have kids.....
The ivf meds make us way more emotional too!
I'm having a rough day, you know when you just feel bleak and you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel....that's me today!
My wedding anniversary too......I need to get a grip and try to be nice to be around 🤣

April623 · 26/07/2023 18:54

Glad it's not just me, someone I was interviewing asked me if I have children a few weeks ago, I couldn't believe it! I should have told her to mind her own business but I was so shocked I said no and she just said "oh" as if she thought how odd 🙈 AND because I have a business people assume I just love my career too much which is so not true!!

Sorry to hear you're feeling miserable @MRSLMF and "happy" anniversary 🤦🏻‍♀️ celebrate another day when you feel like it x

Flower356 · 26/07/2023 19:33

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone had any additional info/advice. I'm 6 days post transfer and I passed a small clot earlier today, no pain didn't even feel it come out and nothing has happened since. Obviously I'm so worried now, I've called the clinic out of hours number, and they've said don't worry and to just test as normal on Tuesday. Her voice didn't say it was a don't worry. Obviously I've been all over Google and everything is pointing towards negative news. Tuesday is so far away!!!

VioletCookie · 26/07/2023 22:08

@April623 I understand and its tricky isn't it! I'm 35 and have had so many comments like this such as 'why did they employ you, you're just going to have a baby' and 'do you have kids? No? You better hurry up then' 🙄 my new guy asked me when I was having children 2 weeks after joining! It still blows my mind that people can just decide to get pregnant and have a baby.

@CR7 those comments are so insensitive!

@MRSLMF Sorry to hear you're having a rough day. I hope your evening with hubby has been a bit better but don't worry if not, you're going through an incredibly difficult time and down days are to be expected.

@Flower356 I'm so sorry you've had this and you're feeling worried. I've only ever spotted after transfer so I can't give any advice, although I feel like it could be too early for a bleed from it not working. I'm no Dr but perhaps it could be a clot that's come lose from the transfer and being prodded a bit? Have you tested early or are you waiting? Let us know how you get on xx

Flower356 · 27/07/2023 07:37

@VioletCookie She did say when I had the transfer, they had to poke around a bit more than normal. Its just so hard not to worry isn't it.

I'm trying really hard to wait until 1st to test as the clinic said, but its so hard not to analyse every tiny thing.

VioletCookie · 27/07/2023 08:11

@Flower356 it's so difficult isn't it, your mind must be in overdrive. Have you got some plans for the next few days to occupy you even a little bit until Tuesday? I'm the worst person to give this advice, but try to stay off Google. You'll find both good and bad answers, but nothing will satisfy you until you've done the test! I really do feel for you x

charja100 · 27/07/2023 09:07

@MRSLMF I'm sorry the results were so disappointing, you're not out yet though. Your morulas could lead to a positive outcome, it's definitely worth the shot.

@VioletCookie I'm glad your journeys kicked off again now. FC this is the one 🤞🏼I needed a few days to just decompress after accepting it hadn't worked and I'm okay now. I've also had some counselling which has helped a bit too. I was finding it hard because there's just so much h going on for me on all fronts at the moment but it's helped so that's good.

OTD for me today. BFN of course. Called the clinic and reported, no apts with my consultant for over two weeks so they're going to call me back. I hope they don't make me wait too long! We have one last frostie so hoping we can just get on with the next FET.

@April623 im sorry you had a challenging lunch. I completely understand how you feel and I in fact feel the same often. I don't let it stop me from joining in anymore, as that made me feel more isolated but it's hard sometimes. The off the mark comments can be so cutting, they really don't understand the impact of words. If I had a pound for how many times I was told to "just relax and it'll happen when it's supposed to" I'd have cleared my mortgage by now.

@MRSLMF i hope you're feeling a bit better now. I find special occasions are all so much harder whilst on the TTC journey. Sending hugs

@charja100 I'm so sorry for your outcome 😔 I can't think of anything that will make you feel better right now and I wish I could. Life can be so unfair! I hope you get a call back fairly soon and can keep moving forwards. We're planning on using embryo glue with our transfer, is this something you would consider to dicuss with your consultant? X
