Hi all,

I'm about to start my first IVF ICSI cycle. I expect to start my stims next week and all being well will have a fresh transfer in April.

Looking for buddies to come on this journey with me.

@VioletCookie yeah do it why not! Got to enjoy life along the way! Once im off these blood thinners im defo going to. Thats interesting what your clinic does, they are all so different arent they. Will see what mine say. I didnt ask for the grades to be honest, i really dont think they are relevant when u are getting them tested, however i may ask if i do get any normal ones which ones they were out of interest!

April623 · 06/06/2023 21:02

Hi ladies, just been catching up on the recent posts to see how everyone is getting on. @Flowerlover010 I hope you have good news about your remaining embryos 🤞🏼

I had a consultation with a clinic in Alicante yesterday. They have suggested duo-stim IVF in order to collect more eggs quickly, with PGT-A testing for any resulting embryos. Has anyone done or considered duo-stim?

Flowerlover010 · 06/06/2023 21:12

@April623 im still waiting to hear about my last 2. A girl i know has recently done duo stim for the exact same reason to get enough for pgta.

Flowerlover010 · 07/06/2023 10:05

Hi all. Update from me. We only got 2 after all to test. Pretty gutted as i wanted so many more knowing that with my history, more are likely abnormal and i wont have anything to transfer. Feel let down that they didnt get many eggs in first place considering my high amh and not sure if i can face another round. It is learning material though if out of 8 eggs we dont get any, its not looking likely we will get a normal pregnancy naturally either. So maybe we are best to give up after this.
Hope everyone else is ok. Its such a difficult journey

@Flowerlover010 Sorry to hear you're disappointed with the results. Fingers crossed your two come back normal. Is it two weeks you have to wait?

I know exactly how you feel, I had one embryo from 9 mature eggs and it failed so it feels like the odds are against me too.

Which is partly why I'm open to trying something different. I'm reading that studies show with double IVF, people tend to get more embryos from the second egg collection suggesting better quality somehow. But I can't find tons of info about it. I've had more info from the clinic today and the protocol is very different. Different meds and a weekly injection during stims instead of daily 🤷🏻‍♀️ it's called the Elonva protocol, anyone heard of it?

I'm the duo stim girl @Flowerlover010 is talking about. It worked really well for me. I did get more eggs second half of the process but only one came back as normal from the pgta for that half of the round. I'm a big fan of the process as I got three through pgta at the age of 42 with through the floor amh. It was pricey but worth it and I'm amazingly now 9 weeks pregnant.

I did the duo stim with Care fertility last summer

VioletCookie · 07/06/2023 18:10

@April623 I don't know anything about duostim, but I've had 2 egg collections (June 22 and April 23) and on round 2 had more follicles, eggs collected and double the blasto I had on round 1. No idea if there's a reason for that but I'd say it's worth doing a second collection! Good luck with your new clinic x

@Flowerlover010 sending hugs your way and hoping for eupolid blastos 🤞🏼 the next two weeks will feel like forever but you're a step closer to knowing. Everything crossed for you x

@CR7 congratulations on reaching 9 weeks! I hope you're feeling OK and all continues to go well x

April623 · 07/06/2023 20:00

@CR7 Oh wow, that is a success story! I do feel quite optimistic about the alternative approach having read more into it today. Congrats on your 9 weeks, so pleased for you!! 😄 x

@VioletCookie Thank you, I also have a consultation with ARGC London on Friday so will decide for sure after that x

charja100 · 10/06/2023 22:31

@CR7 lovely to see you on the thread. Congrats on 9 weeks, are you able to starting to relax now or are you still quite nervous?

@April623 how was your consultation on Friday?

@Flowerlover010 I have everything crossed for you on positive results. Hoping that you've been able to keep yourself busy and the wait isn't feeling too torturous?

@Flower356 how are you feeling? You'll be a couple of weeks ahead of me on transfer. I start buserilin tomorrow. It's been nice to have a couple moths off away from needles. Now I'm back to needles for another month which I'm not looking forward to. I'm also trying to be healthy.

@girljulian that's good news that your consultant has an idea for your next transfer which will hopefully help. How are you feeling about it all? Your holiday is nicely timed to have a break before you have the zoladex and kick off another round

@charja100 helllooooo xx not had any spotting for a couple of weeks (a huge relief even though I know it's not bad) and also got a couple of scans behind me now so I would say I'm now 25% hopeful instead of my original 5%. It's a different sort of anxiety now.

  1. Is that a cramp. What does it mean.
  2. Should I have lifted that
  3. Should I have morning sickness. I haven't. Is that bad.

I have my booking appt at the hospital on Tuesday for bloods and chats but no scan.

Then I have booked in for NIPT on Friday which takes around 10'working days to come back so that's a while nother anxiety.

I am also still on all my drugs (many if you remember) for another three weeks.

I am hopeful and proud I have got to here but my god it's a different minefield haha xx

April623 · 11/06/2023 09:28

@charja100 The consultation with ARGC was good thank you. Another very different approach to my previous clinic and the one in Alicante so we really don't know what to do now 🙈 They have suggested a monitoring cycle with a whole load of tests including immunology screening so we may do that as a starting point to see what that brings up. They do daily blood tests during stims so they can tweak medication every day, and continue to monitor you after a positive result so all these things make the cost of the cycle considerably higher than anything else we've seen. Plus the cost of staying in London for it, but they have the highest success rate, so we will need to weigh everything up x

charja100 · 12/06/2023 00:36

@CR7 helloooo 🤗 so pleased to hear the spotting has stopped and that you percentage of hopefulness is increasing. I'm really rooting for you.

I can understand how every new experience is a worry, and it sound like symptom spotting isn't just for the TWW from what you're saying.

You'll have to let us know how the bloods and chat go on Tuesday. What is NIPT? I do remember you were on all the drugs. Glad you're coming to the end of that ordeal.

Day 1 of Buserilin and down reg for me in preparation for FET some time in July. I had the fear before the first injection against tonight. I was visiting a cousin and was sat in her bathroom psyching myself up to jab myself. I forgot how much prep time I needed to get a grip of myself to just do it 🤣🫣

charja100 · 12/06/2023 00:39

@April623 goodness that sounds like a lot to unpick and weigh up. I've never heard of that level of monitoring on a cycle. I can see how that really gives you every opportunity to have the greatest success. Have you got a timeframe in mind of when you'll come to a decision?

OP posts:
Flowerlover010 · 12/06/2023 07:43

@charja100 thanks. I am keeping busy and the time is going quick for me. I dont want to know the results as i dont want the disappointment! So that call is actually a dread for me! 🤣 i guess while i dont know im blissfully unaware and enjoying life. So i know my stomach will sink when i see my phone ringing! How long will you have to inject for and prep for FET?

April623 · 12/06/2023 19:16

@charja100 Yes it is such a different approach. We've decided to do the monitoring cycle and immunology screening with them next month as I'm thinking the results will give us more information and we can decide after that. We'll also get a feel for the clinic during that time.

Good luck with your FET 🤞🏼 when is it likely to be?

Flowerlover010 · 15/06/2023 18:38

Hi all another update from me. I got my PGTA results a week quicker than i expected so got them within a week rather than 2! I got one come back as 'normal' and the other 'inconclusive' which is going to be re-tested. So i am over the moon as i had convinced myself i wouldnt have anything to transfer at all. Of course there is immense pressure now on this 1 but at least its a chance and i do get to transfer something at least. If it fails i am back to square 1. As i said before gutted to not had more to test so theres so much pressure on this 1. I am going to ask for further testing on progesterone and any other tests before transfer so i can give it the best chance.

Hope everyone else is ok.

CR7 · 15/06/2023 20:13

Wonderful news @Flowerlover010 xxx

VioletCookie · 17/06/2023 13:04

Hello lovelies! Sorry I disappeared for a week... work has been so busy I've been exhausted 😬 how's everyone getting on? We've got my hysteroscopy booked for Friday 23rd (providing AF doesn't arrive) xx

VioletCookie · 17/06/2023 13:06

Congratulations @Flowerlover010, I know it feels like a lot of pressure but you're in a much better position knowing you've got a chromosomaly normal embryo to put back in! I hope this one works for you🤞🏼x

Flower356 · 18/06/2023 05:11

@Flowerlover010 great news! So pleased for you xxx

charja100 · 18/06/2023 09:37

Happy weekend everyone. I hope everyone is okay? Also disappeared due to work. Had a bit of travel this week and it zapped all my energy!

That's great news @VioletCookie. Everything crossed for you that AF holds out and allows you to keep to the timings!

@Flowerlover010 that's such good news! Congratulations! I fed we're not successful on this round with our frozen i think I'll test next time for the peace of mind. Try to be positive, I know it's hard with the pressure that you're feeling on this one. But now you know that the odds are on your side and that's a great place to start from! Do you mind me asking how much it cost do do the test? Definitely a good shout to do testing on progesterone before transfer and follow up.

@April623 I'm not too sure of the timings to be honest as some of it will depend on scans and my last transfer was a fresh so this is my first FET. Tonight will be day 7 of buserilin, I'm
waiting for AF (which is now due, but I heard buserilin makes it late) and then I call to book in for my down reg scan. Once that happens and then confirm down reg I will be able to roughly guess the date.

@CR7 how are you getting on?

@girljulian hope you are having a fab time on holiday!

@charja100 thank you, I am! All inclusive so I’m taking the opportunity to be naughty with the alcohol since I’ve got two months on the Zoladex to be strict when I get back…

Flower356 · 18/06/2023 18:14

@VioletCookie glad you got the appointment so quickly! Hope AF holds out for you xxx

April623 · 18/06/2023 20:59

Congratulations on your embryo @Flowerlover010 that is great news! Have you decided what tests you're going to have before your transfer?

VioletCookie · 18/06/2023 21:14

@charja100 sorry I know you didn't ask me directly but thought I'd jump in... PGT-A testing with Create was roughly £1350 for the first embryo and £300 for each one after. Expensive but I'm so glad we did it as its another thing ticked off and hopefully a step closer to a healthy pregnancy! Hopefully you have a calmer week at work coming up? I'd like to say mine is but it's pretty hectic again 😅

@girljulian all inclusive sounds like a dream... enjoy having no restrictions for a while! 🍹🥂

@Flower356 thank you, I really hope so! I was due last week but coming off the oestrogen meds after the cancelled FET I've ended up ovulating this week, so like week 4 of my cycle! So I've literally no idea when I could actually come on 🙈 we were so fortunate to get this appt I'm hoping we can actually have it 🤞🏼 I can't change anything so trying to relax and not stress!
