I am about to start my first IVF cycle tomorrow; short protocol.

@CDiamond I'm in 2ww as well, had some cramps the first 2 days and then mild period pains on day 4, I was reading everywhere for symptoms and it is common to have a little spotting as it can be due to implantation. This wait to horrendous! I'm currently 8dp5dt.
My boobs are super sore as well.
I also have some back ache but not sure it is down to the transfer. I'm testing 2 days after you! Good luck and try to stay positive although I know when i am told to stay positive i want to scream lol

Jupiteer · 09/04/2023 17:28

Happy Easter! How is everyone getting on? x

nizo1245 · 10/04/2023 06:15

@Jupiteer Happy Easter!

I keep going through phases of feeling positive and thinking it will work, then being really negative and almost planning for the next round.

I feel like I'm really cold all the time which has been a bit weird, and I'm getting terrible sleep. Im usually a good sleeper so being awake so much through the night has definitely been adding more anxiety to the whole thing!

How are you getting on?

Loulou2202 · 10/04/2023 08:29

Happy Easter everyone,

I am currently sitting in the ward waiting to go down for my EC…. Hoping it all goes well I think I’m a a bit behind most of you in the process x

Jupiteer · 10/04/2023 15:10

Hope your EC went well @Loulou2202 !

@nizo1245 I am the same, feel very positive one minute and deflated the next. It's a roller coaster isn't it?
I am virtually symptomless, although not sleeping and being cold are unfortunately both normal for me 😳 the only real symptom I have is bloating, I feel like nothing fits. I went to m&s today to buy high waisted knickers in a bigger size as all my usual ones are digging in 🙃

nizo1245 · 10/04/2023 17:37

@Jupiteer I suppose I'm probably a bit bloated too, but we've indulged a bit over the Easter weekend so it's probably just the food 😂

Only a few more days to go. My beta appointment is 8am on Friday and I'll get the results that afternoon.
I was going to test that morning so I'm prepared for the answer but I think i'll just wait for the call. Will you be testing Friday morning?

Jupiteer · 10/04/2023 18:36

Mine is 8am on Friday too. I hope this week goes quickly. I have a urine test but holding off until thursday to try and prepare a bit mentally. But I know the urine test will not be totally conclusive!

AlisonDanuta · 10/04/2023 21:43

@Loulou2202 how did you get on?

@Jupiteer @nizo1245 I was bloated a lot during the 2ww so keep your hopes up

Loulou2202 · 11/04/2023 10:25

@Jupiteer thank you.

I think I massively underestimated the egg collection procedure . I thought the sedation would really take the edge off ,if had it before with having a tooth out and I didn’t recall a thing so I thought it would be much the same but I was very wrong but I found the entire process really unpleasant , I’m quite sore today but it’s manageable.

@AlisonDanuta we got 12 eggs and just had the call to say all 12 fertilised . The clinic were as surprised as I was I think but I do expect a significant drop between now and Saturday which provisional is ET day . My clinic won’t give any more updates until Friday now so it’s going to be a hard few days wait.

fingers crossed for all of you in the tww xx

AlisonDanuta · 11/04/2023 13:25

@Loulou2202 that is very promising! 12 is a great number - btw is it icsi?

I know it's hard to let yourself think positively- this time round we've had 8 eggs 7 mature and 7 fertilised and I found the wait to day 5 horrendous. I think I rarher did not know anything on day 3 as it gives you more hope as on day 3 all were doing well... but by day 5 we only had 1 blastocyst! So it was massive drop! Later that day we were told another 2 are fighting and by day 6 we had 1 to freeze! Such a relief... so it was a roller coaster and they say do not stress haha

Fingers crossed for your embryos!

Loulou2202 · 11/04/2023 13:41

@AlisonDanuta No it wasn’t ICSI. Male factor not an issue, to be honest I don’t really know what is lol.

I have PCOS but not much in the way of symptoms , it’s a very mild case apparently I have never been convinced it’s the cause of our struggle to conceive.

I feel like we are more unexplained to be honest so was dreading what might crop up at this stage ( bad egg quality/ hidden sperm issues/ and the rest). I know the fertilisation rate doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme but il take it as a win that for today we are at least still 12/12 and that might give us some room for what’s to come.

Wow you have had quite the experience! So pleased that you got one to freeze, that’s great. :)

I guess the majority on here are now experts on managing expectations and trying to balance being positive with trying to protect yourself from disappointment.

I have already tried to brace myself for the drop off I am just really really hopeful we will get 1 and a bonus if we get anything to freeze. Roll on the end of the week! X

CDiamond · 11/04/2023 14:50

V good ot hear about a lot of the good embroys and best wishes for everyone still on the TWW.

I have bad news sadly; the spotting from last week became full blown period. I did not even bother testing on Friday as I was on what was a heavy period day 4 at that point. Looking at perhaps a second cycle in May now...

LF82 · 11/04/2023 14:56

@CDiamond I am so, so sorry, there’s nothing any of us can say. The ivf journey is the most difficult thing I think any of us will go through. Look after yourself x

Jupiteer · 11/04/2023 15:20

Really sorry to hear this @CDiamond xxx

Loulou2202 · 11/04/2023 15:50

So sorry @CDiamond xx

nizo1245 · 11/04/2023 16:06

@CDiamond really sorry to hear that, be kind to yourself.

If it's of any comfort at all, my first round felt completely pointless. We had poor fertilisation and poor embryo development. We transferred the best, albeit not very good quality embryo on day 3, had nothing to freeze, and the transfer failed.

I'm on round 2 now and we had much better fertilisation and embryo development, transferred a top quality 5 day blastocyst and have 1 in the freezer.

I'm still in the 2ww so no idea if it has worked this time, but wanted to give you some hope that the 2nd cycle can be a much more positive experience than the first one.

All the best for your next round of treatment when you get there.

Jupiteer · 11/04/2023 20:13

@Loulou2202 sorry to hear about your EC experience. They must have used a light sedation? I was fully out of it for mine although I did find the pain the day of and the day after worse than I expected. Once I started to feel better I improved quite quickly. 12 collected is brilliant, fingers crossed for day 3!

@nizo1245 I have started feeling very heavy in the uterus today... unsure if it's an upcoming period or could be a positive sign. I'm so 50/50. I've also had no spotting and can't work out if that's a good thing or a bad thing as I know implantation bleeding is a good sign. Can you tell I'm overthinking everything!!! How you are feeling ok x

AlisonDanuta · 11/04/2023 20:35

@CDiamond I'm sorry you haven't succeed this time, but I completely agree w9th @nizo1245 as first round or two are trial for your body with meds etc. and for the male factor too. Our two first rounds were a disaster. 1st one only 3 eggs and 2 fertilised but nothing at day 5. 2nd one 7 eggs 6 mature and fertilised but none of the looked well so we've day 3 transfer - negative test.
Round 3 - we've added testosteron gel for me, DHEA tablets to boost quality of eggs, also Proxeed for 3 months for sperm quality (low morphology), continued Q10 and other vit.

It's hard not to get disheartened but we thought it could never happened to us... and we've just had BFP test! First time ever! So taking it slow as you never know what's around the corner...

nizo1245 · 12/04/2023 14:32

@Jupiteer no change here. Had some weird fluttering feelings yesterday evening which peaked my interest but I'm trying not to obsess over symptoms.
Im tired all the time but conscious that it's probably the progesterone that's causing it, so probably doesn't indicate anything either way.

Decided I'm definitely not going to test myself, I'll just wait for the call from my clinic on Friday afternoon after the blood test.

I think implantation spotting is more of a myth, I know some people say they had it, but as far as I've seen from the millions of things I've read, it's not very common.

How are you feeling now?

Jupiteer · 12/04/2023 18:00

Hi @nizo1245
I'm feeling most ok but my bloating is getting worse and worse and my abdomen is now painful. I'm a bit worried I could be getting ohss. But I have no other symptoms and the pain is fairly mild so managing without paracetamol. I looked up symptoms of ohss and it seems most people feel much worse, can't stand up straight or lie on their side and I can do both without any trouble. Will let them know at my appt on Friday unless it gets worse tomorrow.
Other than that I'm good 🙂 hope you had a good day?

nizo1245 · 13/04/2023 08:23

@Jupiteer the bloating sounds a bit concerning. Hopefully it's not any worse today?
I've been feeling a bit full but definitely nowhere near what you're describing. Could be a good sign though - your body adapting to having something extra to look after?

Trying to stay busy at the moment so I don't think too much about tomorrow. Obviously really hoping for a positive but I'm also trying to have a few things up my sleeve to focus on if it's a negative result, like not having a baby due pretty much on Christmas Day 🤷‍♀️

I've got zero symptoms at the moment, though I know plenty of people get their BFP without symptoms, but it's kind of making me think we're looking at a negative result tomorrow.

How optimistic are you feeling?

Jupiteer · 13/04/2023 18:30

@nizo1245 I caved and did a urine pregnancy test... For the first time in 3yrs TTC it is positive! 🥰
I had a feeling it would be as I am almost certain I have late onset OHSS due to the bloating and pain (although pain is not terrible and still managing without paracetamol) and now feel nauseous too. I probably should have called the clinic today but I was working far from home and the hospital and I'm in at 8am tomorrow anyway.
Obviously don't want to count my chickens until the blood results come back but feel like at least SOMETHING has worked 🤞🎉🤞
I really hope you have a positive result tomorrow, please let us know x

nizo1245 · 13/04/2023 19:12

@Jupiteer that's amazing, congratulations!
The OHSS sounds a bit worrying, hopefully they'll have a plan of action for you tomorrow.

So happy for you!

nizo1245 · 14/04/2023 13:06

@Jupiteer how did you get on at your appointment, do they think it's OHSS?

I just phoned for my beta result and it's positive 😊
Part of me still can't believe it.

Jupiteer · 14/04/2023 14:04

@nizo1245 congratulations! That's brilliant news! So happy for you! 🎉🎉🎉
I do have OHSS and am now on blood thinners. Some of my other bloods came back abnormal (thyroid) which I am also stressing about and I feel sooo nauseous 🤢
But still so glad to have passed this momentous hurdle xxx
