Hi wanted to have a group for ladies going through IVF where they are aged below 35.

I will do a introduction and hope I could make some ivf buddies that may possible be in a similar boat.

Age: 29
TTC length: 6 years
Relationship length: 9 years
Medical issues: damage from previous D&C
Miscarriages: 6
IVF round: 1
IVF status: 2WW
Eggs collected: 9
Eggs matured: 5
Eggs fertilised: 3
Embryos:3 - 1 (8 cell) and 2 (4cell- disposed)
Transfer: 3 days

Really just want to have a safe space for us ladies where we can ask open questions and find comfort.

Look forward to hopefully meeting some ivf buddies.

@Capri93 sorry to hear that 😔 I think it helps when you have a plan in place and know you can try again in a couple of months!

SophieW32 · 15/02/2023 19:15

@Stillhoping1990 I'm doing accupuncture this time round as well.. Hoping it has a good affect 🤞🏻 it's a lot of needles to deal with alongside injections though 😂

I really try to be on as healthy diet as possible but it's hard to stick too for so long.anyone else struggling to be super healthy?

Sj2505 · 15/02/2023 19:24

@Stillhoping1990 I wanted to try acupuncture. I've never done it, but everyone says how relaxing it is! I'm thinking I'm a bit late in the day to try something like that, now I've started stims?

@SophieW32 Yes! I have good days but then very bad days haha. I think it's normal, especially if that's not a lifestyle you already have. IVF has got me out walking more as I thought it's better than nothing and it does me the world of good mentally and physically. But I also have dairy milk caramel ice cream sat in my freezer at the moment that I will not be neglecting 😂

Stillhoping1990 · 15/02/2023 20:00

@SophieW32 @Sj2505 i think you can start the acupuncture at any point. I’m just going to do it day before FET and once per week in the tww. Diet wise I’ve not been great but next week I’m going to try and cut out refined carbs and caffeine. Caffeine is the hardest for me!
obvs no alcohol either. x

Capri93 · 15/02/2023 20:01

Thank you all, well ill still be around awaiting for 2nd round which we have chosen March.

They have changed me to the long protocol which is interesting.

Having a negative result Is a part of it and we went in with the kind rhat it's only to enhance our chances, so did not have a guarantee and so we are okay with dealing with it.

Fingers crossed for the next round!

Also, acupuncture... someone please explain this as I keep having people recommend this!

Hi @Capri93 I think acupuncture directs blood flow and relaxes the muscles.. I could be wrong though. Would still love to try it!

SophieW32 · 19/02/2023 16:15

@Capri93 acupuncture helps to increase blood flow, it can help with hormones as well as making you more relaxed by decreasing stress or anxiety.

@Sj2505 you can start it anytime.,its recommended during stims and before day of transfer and day after. Hope your stims are still going good and good luck for your scan tomorrow ☺️

@Stillhoping1990 did you find out the date for your FET?

Stillhoping1990 · 19/02/2023 16:40

@SophieW32 yes it’s on Monday 27th! A bit further away than I’d hoped but they couldn’t fit me in any sooner.

Sj2505 · 19/02/2023 16:47

@SophieW32 thank you 😊 stims are going well. Only mild symptoms at the moment. Got a bit of full feeling in my abdomen and some slight twinges and dull aches around my ovaries. I'm looking forward to getting an update tomorrow, but also very anxious that it's not going well.

Did you manage to start yours on Friday? If so, how are you finding them?

@Stillhoping1990 yay for 27th!! Not long to go

SophieW32 · 19/02/2023 18:19

@Stillhoping1990

That's great..Deffs not long to go!

@Sj2505 that's good your feeling twinges.,it gives reassurance the injections are doing what they should! I feel you, it's exciting but an anxious time when your sooo hoping for good results..but I'm sure all those little follicles are progressing into nice healthy eggs- You'll have to let me know how you get on!

Yeah I started on Friday so tonight is day 3- going ok, havent felt any side effects or anything! Haven't felt too much soo far..I hope I feel some twinges soon!

Sj2505 · 19/02/2023 19:27

@SophieW32 so will you have your first stims scan next Friday? I think that's when I'd be aiming for egg collection.. assuming tomorrow goes ok.
Im on day 7 and not feeling a great deal only the few dull twinges. I think it's the 2nd week they do most of their growing, obviously thats when they're getting huge. So don't be too disheartened if you don't feel much.
I read someone say she didn't feel anything until after her trigger.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 19/02/2023 19:44

How often do you have to attend clinic during an egg collection and transfer cycle?

Sj2505 · 19/02/2023 19:48

@Hopingforno2in2023 since starting the treatment I have been to the clinic for baseline scan, I will go for day 7 scan, then likely day 9 scan, then hopefully egg collection on day 11, then hopefully transfer 5 days later.

SophieW32 · 19/02/2023 21:35

@Sj2505 yeah that's right..I'm booked in for Friday morning for first scan! Do you think you'll know tomorrow how much longer they'll stim you for? If your egg collection is Friday then it will be trigger on Wednesday..how exciting..it's getting close for you!
Thankyou..I needed that..don't you just wish you could see inside at what's going on 😅

Sj2505 · 19/02/2023 21:42

@SophieW32 yes I think they'll tell me when they're aiming for judging by the sizes and quantities. I think I'm expecting another scan Wednesday and trigger that evening and egg collection Friday 🤞🏼 all being well.
I will let you know how it goes ✨

Hopingforno2in2023 · 20/02/2023 08:38

Thank you Sj, I am so impatient to get started!

Sj2505 · 20/02/2023 08:47

@Hopingforno2in2023 oh I bet I was the same. I keep saying now I've started stims I'm no longer wishing the time away because I'm just so happy to finally have started, I'm just trying to enjoy the excitement and although the anxiety isn't a fun bit, I'm trying to embrace all the emotions of if, because I (like everyone else) has waited for the journey to start to so long.
It'll be here before you know it. When is your appointment? Did you say around the 27th if I remember rightly?

Hopingforno2in2023 · 20/02/2023 08:50

Yes Sj history taking appointment on the 27th and then I call in on the first day of my next cycle to book in the bloods etc. that should be around 7 March. Fingers crossed for you this cycle!

Sj2505 · 20/02/2023 08:54

@Hopingforno2in2023 hopefully it'll fly by for you!
Thank you 🤩 I will keep you posted

Sj2505 · 20/02/2023 13:08

I'm just back from my scan, they had some trouble seeing my left ovary because I've been a little constipated (TMI), so I've been and bought some Senakot. From what she can see, it looks like I have about 7 dominant follicles that are 10-12mm, around 10 that are 7-10mm and several other little ones that aren't expected to do anything (I have PCOS so expected). There could be more hiding in the left behind the bowel but hopefully we'll have a better view on Wednesday.
She did note that she would be surprised if I'm ready for EC on Friday and said it's more likely to be early next week - which I'm fine with, actually works out better haha!
So continue as normal until Wednesday :)

Hopingforno2in2023 · 20/02/2023 15:03

Sounds like a positive appointment Sj :)

FlowerFanatic · 20/02/2023 16:37

Hi all

I'm new to mumsnet and to IVF.

I'm waiting to start my first cycle on the NHS (at Kings in London).

However I've been told I can't start due to a national shortage of buserelin which I need for my trigger injection as I'm at high risk of OHSS.

However I rang a couple of other clinics this afternoon and they said they hadn't been impacted by the shortage!

Is anyone else being held up starting due to medication shortages? It's very frustrating and Kings won't provide a timeline just say it will be "hopefully soon"

Thanks!

SophieW32 · 20/02/2023 22:34

@Sj2505 wow..that's great..you've got a real good number of follicles already..and hopefully a couple more she couldn't see! I'm sure your pleased with that scan result! 😊😊

@FlowerFanatic - I have heard of the shortage..but it didn't stop me starting! the medication company I used didn't have one to send..when I rang the clinic to discuss an alternative.. they said i can trigger with ovitrelle..so that's what I have! Hope you get started soon!

Capri93 · 21/02/2023 09:58

@FlowerFanatic hey I just finished my first cycle at King's, so amazing. I was not fortunate to be successful but they were really helpful.

They were so good I have gone back to them following my nhs round and is now paying for treatment as I like the way they work.

Also they told me there was a shortage of bureselin but it actually arrived in my delivery so was all good. That time it was for a trigger I know need a lot more of it for the long protocol.

@Sj2505 constipation is not TMI... that happened to me and it was so awkward at the time but it seemed very common on other forums. So maybe it's a unmentioned side effect.

Hope you are all doing well. I'm in same boat as @FlowerFanatic as I have to do the long protocol this time round so awaiting for medicine to be available. Then ready for round 2.

My boyfriend keeps making the joke of what if I conceive naturally in between cycles.

But we all know we don't have to get ivf for fun.

Happy to see you are all getting on so well.

FlowerFanatic · 21/02/2023 10:20

@Capri93 thanks this is really encouraging.

I only need buserelin for a trigger too but Kings won't let me even do the pre cycle tests and bloods etc until there is stock so it's a bit of a frustrating waiting game really!

I did contact another clinic who seemed to say they have buserelin in stock so it's a shame Kings are saying they don't have any...

I'm wondering about going somewhere else whilst I am waiting but seems a shame to pay privately when I have NHS funding, I just really want to get going and have no idea when I can start.

Sending you lots of luck for your next cycle!
