Capri93 · 04/02/2023 11:11

Hi wanted to have a group for ladies going through IVF where they are aged below 35.

I will do a introduction and hope I could make some ivf buddies that may possible be in a similar boat.

Age: 29
TTC length: 6 years
Relationship length: 9 years
Medical issues: damage from previous D&C
Miscarriages: 6
IVF round: 1
IVF status: 2WW
Eggs collected: 9
Eggs matured: 5
Eggs fertilised: 3
Embryos:3 - 1 (8 cell) and 2 (4cell- disposed)
Transfer: 3 days

Really just want to have a safe space for us ladies where we can ask open questions and find comfort.

Look forward to hopefully meeting some ivf buddies.

@SophieW32 I am thrilled with it ☺️ I'm hoping that most of them continue to grow.
I will update you tomorrow after my day 9 scan.

@Capri93 thank you, that's reassuring. Sorry about your last cycle. Do you know when you can start again?

@FlowerFanatic I hope you get the go ahead soon, I know that wait to get started is awful. Seems odd that they can't give you even an inclination.

Capri93 · 21/02/2023 13:18

@FlowerFanatic give them a call and ask if you can source it yourself. They told me this was a option and even gave me the fertility 2 u website.

This was with my consultant and it was only like £25.

Ferring their supplier sent it to me although they told me throughout that they had no supply.

Also, try to get an appointment after 11am (no waiting times) they do scans etc in the morning up until 12.30.

Also, track your ovulation as a tip. Lots of ladies did while waiting and got lucky! Little straps of amazon do the trick. Doesn't work for all but seems to of worked for a fair few.

I started to do this during the wait to start my next cycle.

if your NHS (and live in southwark, i urge you to explore all options) i was NHS and i was super hurt when it didnt work and had to find some serious money.

ask loads of questions and check with guys as a back up. But kings are good and you get private treatment on the NHS with no difference!

Good luck!!

Oh and if you want to further your chances, tower hamlets do 3 trys on NHS if your willing to relocate and wait a short while to save a few quid.

Once the egg has been collected it is classed as a full cycle and at that point your funding has funded, if that makes sense.

Also save where possible to fall back on. My first house ourchase has now been put on hold. Luckily we did not buy due to covid etc.

Otherwise I would feel a little bit lost due to NHS funding only 1 round.

Everyone is different and my reason for failure was a issue that does not happen often. Also if you have had any miscarriages get your bloods done with a GP to ensure you have no issues with sticky blood, clotting etc. This is where I messed up.

Hope this helps and also it gives you stuff to do on the wait.

Testing early after transfer is not healthy. It had me in a wreck of emotions.

Capri93 · 21/02/2023 13:33

@Sj2505 I went into it thinking it would just work. Unfortunately it didn't work because I have an additional issue.

I am able to go again once I have the extensive funds and when I get or they have burselin

I have decided to wait a gap (so have a full cycle or 2 natural) just so my body doesn't have to go through stress. But I could have gone straight back to it.

I'm doing a few things atm to try naturally again. If that works, I will share my findings but my hopes are not too high.

Did you all know that in Liverpool there's a clinic that will keep trying until you birth a child at 1 flat cost! This is my plan C

Plan A ivf in March or April
Plan B greece for IVF
Plan C move to Liverpool and make a final investment

Plan D this is where I accept my calling as the cool aunt that travels.

All you ladies please let me share my best given advice...

Fertility can get you down, it will be a hard journey. But do not let it consume you, still have fun and enjoy life.

My auntie told me this after 6 failed ivf cycles and 2 IUI. When she turned 35 she stopped caring and just accepted fate and had fun, going on holidays and just enjoying life. Within the first year of not stressing she naturally conceived and went on to ha e a full family at 3 by the age of 40!

Anything is possible, don't get too stressed out. Everyone's bodies are different.

Womens anatomy is a little bit odd.

FlowerFanatic · 21/02/2023 14:30

@Capri93 Thanks! My issue is that both of my fallopian tubes are blocked so no chance of me getting pregnant without IVF sadly.

I am based in Lewisham and they have told me I will get one full cycle but 3 transfers if I create enough embryos, was that the same for Southwark?

Thanks for your tips I will definitely be asking if I can source the buserelin myself as want to get going!

Best of luck to you with your next round, it's reassuring to hear you will be sticking with Kings and thought they were good.

SophieW32 · 21/02/2023 21:20

@Capri93 Thanks for your advice..it's definitely
hard to not let it consume you.,I feel like I've got this whole separate life which not many know about 🙈 I'm glad you've got a good plan in place.,and March April is so so close! Keep us updated!

@Sj2505 good luck for your scan tomorrow!

RunningOnHope · 24/02/2023 21:17

Hi ladies, checking back in and reading your updates :)

We have dates to get going at last - I start the pill on 11th March and first scan on 4th April. Hopefully egg collection 17th April. Feels so soon yet so far at the same time!

Perhaps silly question but I still feel so new to ivf! Do you all stop drinking before treatment? Now I have dates I feel like I want to stop drinking entirely (I only have like one glass of wine a week anyway) but my wife thinks I should enjoy a last week of being able to - we're on holiday with friends this week - and let myself have one a night this week then stop. I know ideally you'd stop 3 months ahead of time but obviously I haven't. What approach do you take?

katiesj · 25/02/2023 11:23

Hi, hope it's okay if I join.

I'm in a very similar situation to @FlowerFanatic currently but due to male factor infertility (partner has cystic fibrosis so needed surgical sperm retrieval)
Waiting to start on NHS and had our nurses appointment scheduled February 14th which was then cancelled due to the shortages. We are on a short protocol and just need buserelin for trigger shot. I have been told I cannot use an alternative due to the risk of OHSS.
Unfortunately my clinic have given me zero indication of when they will be getting stock.
This wait is agonising and not knowing is making it much harder.
Good luck to everyone on this journey!

Hopingforno2in2023 · 27/02/2023 07:19

Good luck today with your FET Stillhoping!

We have our first clinic appointment at 10:30 today, really hoping to get a clearer idea of timescales.

Stillhoping1990 · 27/02/2023 10:55

@Hopingforno2in2023 thank you so much! We are leaving to go in 10mins! Im feeling more positive than last time - more happy and excited rather than anxious. x

Hopingforno2in2023 · 28/02/2023 08:33

How did it go Still? Keeping everything crossed for a sticky bean for you!

Appointment yesterday went well, was just straightforward history taking and advice on lifestyle. Poor DH is gutted to give up his caffeinated tea. I need to call in the first day of my next period which will be around 7 March to start the tests. Never been so impatient for AF to arrive!

Stillhoping1990 · 28/02/2023 12:01

@Hopingforno2in2023 all went to plan yesterday and now have two embryos on board - now the wait begins!
Sounds like you had a good appointment. We never gave up caffeine but maybe we should have! I think every little helps. Roll on 7th March! Woohoo! it’s all a waiting game - but try not to wish time away. I lost so much time last year I will never get back. x

Hopingforno2in2023 · 28/02/2023 12:57

Eek exciting Still!

From my reading the jury is out about caffeine but presumably our clinic has chosen to advise giving it up. To be fair I had wanted to give it up for a while and did in January and feel so much better for it so fingers crossed it does the same for DH.

yes trying not to wish time away too much, must try and live in the moment a bit :)

CairoDream · 01/03/2023 12:18

Hi I would love to join the under 35’s club as I defo need someone to chat to who actually understand what we are going through lol

Age: 32
TTC length: 6 years
Relationship length: 10 years
Medical issues: PCOS syndrome, high NK, lupus anticoagulant and male factor issues!
Miscarriages: 4 all before 2018.
IVF round: 1 ( started at the end of Jan 2023 clinic in Turkey)
IVF status: 2WW (day 1 today)
Eggs collected: 4
Eggs matured: 4
Eggs fertilised: 3 (5 day)
Embryos: 2 frozen made it to grade 4AA
Transfer: day 1

My transfer was yesterday, ngl it was pretty horrific near the end as I need to go to the toilet really badly I nearly kicked my doctor, lucky they strap your legs here lol other than that it wasn’t so bad.

How is everyone feeling?

Hopingforno2in2023 · 01/03/2023 21:35

Welcome Cairo and fingers crossed for your transfer!

So I have spotting today on CD21. Normally I have three days of spotting and then AF so AF now due on Saturday. A 24 day cycle isn’t massively unusual for me although 26 days is more common. Clinic isn’t open on a Saturday so should I call on Friday if the spotting continues and say I am pretty sure day 1 will be tomorrow?

I assume my having short cycles won’t be a massive issue for IVF as my cycle will be controlled with meds so can be made longer? I know it makes me less likely to conceive naturally. I do get occasional 27 day cycles and it was on one of those that I managed to conceive DS.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 01/03/2023 21:41

Ok so Google suggests that spotting and a short luteal phase is due to low progesterone so will def mention that to clinic in case I need a bit more than most women.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 01/03/2023 21:49

Although thinking about it progesterone is one of the blood tests I am having 😂

Capri93 · 02/03/2023 19:10

Oooh welcome @CairoDream I am so excited you have joined as I had a failed cycle and will be doing one more in the UK but if that fails would probably have to go abroad and Greece Turkey are on my list.

Did you travel for the procedure and please share information on how it works, I'm super keen to understand!!! And the transfer is super strange as its on a full bladder haha.

@Hopingforno2in2023 best advice I can give is try where possible not to Google!!! But spotting is something you should most definitely tell the clinic and they should do relevant tests to ensure that all is normal or to provide you with a Higher progesterone or something.

@RunningOnHope How's your 2ww going, how are you feeling and I hope you have been taking it easy.

I have adhd so struggled to relax, maybe that's why it failed 😂 I'm like a kid with ants in their pants and they said no heavy lifting, seemed like a good idea in my head to drag furniture around like a clown.

So in short ladies, RELAX

Stillhoping1990 · 02/03/2023 20:07

Hellooo! I’m finding that keeping busy is really helping me on the tww. Last time I took it very easy and got a BFN. So this time I’m just carrying in as normal - just long walks instead of workouts and going to work as normal.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 07/03/2023 06:55

Close to tears this morning. Supposed to be my day 3 bloods today but have woken to heavy snow. DH is away with work and the car so I was having to get public transport to the clinic which is over an hour away on rural roads. I can’t risk getting stranded and no one able to get DS from school especially as school may close early (or not open at all!). I have just left an answerphone message to cancel. Gutted this will mean another cycle’s wait :(

Hopingforno2in2023 · 07/03/2023 08:33

Two mins after posting that the sky cleared and I am here safely!

GCopHan7 · 08/03/2023 18:38

Hi,

Would love to get some advice from anyone that is willing to share 😊

I am 29 and we have been referred for IVF as my fiance has Cystic Fibrosis. I also have endometriosis & polycistic ovaries.

We were reffered in June 2022, I had my AMH blood tests in January 2023 and our first appointment is at the end of March 2023.

I am really curious to know what to expect from the first consultation and the timeline after...

I know all journeys are totally different but if anyone is willing to share their NHS IVF journey/timeline it would be massively appreciated ❤️

Thank you!

katiesj · 08/03/2023 22:47

Hi @GCopHan7

I'm 27 and my fiancé also has Cystic Fibrosis so we were referred for IVF with ICSI because of this.

We were referred in 2021 and are due to start our first round of injections next month! I know every clinic is very different depending on where you are based so timings can vary.

At our first consultation the doctor basically helped us understand exactly what the problem was and how he would work around it using a surgical sperm retrieval and explained how we should expect our treatment to go. I think I also had more bloods done at this appointment but I can't honestly remember as it was a while ago!

Hope this was helpful :)

Good luck on your journey! X

Jojo922 · 09/03/2023 00:24

Hiya every hope it's ok that I can join never been on anything like this before but thought I would have ago for a little advice and support along the way as we all have the same end goal I've been reading through and your all amazing.

Age:31
TTC: 6 years
Relationship: 7 years
IVF: referral sent

I have known for 10+ years I had damaged fallopian tubes these have recently both been removed last month we have had all of the investigations done but my consultant recommended I have my tubes removed before being referred for IVF so just waiting to start our first round.
It's all so daunting and waiting list after waiting list

GCopHan7 · 09/03/2023 08:21

Hi,

Aww thank you so much for sharing ❤️

Yeah I cannot seem to find a "general" guide for what happens next anywhere as every region and journey is totally different! I'm in Kent but have no idea what we are in for.

We were originally reffered in Jan 22 but that got "lost" so we had to re-refer in Jun 22.

It's the not knowing what's going to happen next thats driving me mad 🙈

Good luck on your journey too ❤️
