@Katie12444 this is not the end - you still have 6 chances! My first 2 cycles were absolute failure so heads up and keep going

I think first cycles are always trials as to see how your body reacts etc
We've learnt a lot from them and this can have input in your next try etc
You always learn something new

I've also had polyp removed from my uterus. I've had histeroscopy done so had to wait to start another ivf

@anu21 this is interesting as I didn't know they freeze day 3 embryos??
How old are you and what's your amh if you don't mind me asking 😊

I'm still waiting to see on my day 5 and then decide how many to transfer as I was given this option due to low amh and my age

Katie12444 · 28/03/2023 13:44

@anu21 thank you ❤️This process is so awful and nowhere near as straightforward as I thought. How long were you advised to wait between your fibroid being removed and starting FET? I wish you all the best with TWW and hope for a positive outcome xx

@AlisonDanuta thank you. I wish this wasn’t so painful to go through.

@AlisonDanuta: yes! They froze the embryos till day three. basis their experience the clinic suggested I go ahead with two day 3 embryos considering my age. And I don't mind your questions at all - I am 32 with an AMH of 8.7 (weirdly amh was 6.7 in 2021 and post fibroid removal it went up to 8.7). I have unexplained infertility and two previous IUI cycles that failed. Basis my internet search day 5 transfers seem to work best - I raised the same point to my doc but decided to go ahead with their suggestion of day 3 transfer considering their experience in the field.

anu21 · 28/03/2023 13:58

@Katie12444 : I was advised tranfer post 6 months. Had the surgery early sept'22. thank you so much for your wishes - I hope all works out well for you!

laurapop · 28/03/2023 15:03

Really sorry to hear some of the bad news on here the past week or so :(. And congrats to those with positive tests!

My transfer is booked in for next Weds (5th). Anyone else having theirs around this date? I'm starting to worry its not going to thaw successfully as its not even graded yet (was a bit behind the other embryo when frozen).

Hope everyone is coping okay - its such a hard and emotional process.

LF82 · 28/03/2023 15:47

@Katie12444 i know it’s hard but 6 fertilising is a really good number - quality over quantity is my clinic’s ethos x

Katie12444 · 28/03/2023 16:07

@lf82 thank you. I just expected a much higher number with the number collected. This process is the worst. Hope you’re doing ok xx

@Katie12444 im sorry for the big drop, always painful. But it doesn't say anything yet! Hopefully you are on the right side of statistics for the next steps and you'll get a lot beautiful blasts! ❤️

Stopthatnoisemummy · 28/03/2023 17:15

@BrownXeyes I'm testing tomorrow too...not feeling v hopeful. I've been distracted from the TWW as I had a job interview today. Should hear about that on Thursday so an emotionally draining few days ahead....

Stopthatnoisemummy · 28/03/2023 17:18

@Katie12444 just echoing what the others said, a big drop is hard but 6 is still amazing and good chances several will make it. This wait is so hard, but stay strong.

BrownXeyes · 28/03/2023 17:21

@Stopthatnoisemummy neither am I! And I know you have to try and stay positive but I just have that feeling. This was our one and only shot aswell with having to pay privately. Have you had any symptoms? Fingers crossed for you testing tomorrow and for the job! X

Katie12444 · 28/03/2023 17:24

@Irisjj thank you. I really hope so. I was talking to my sister about IVF and we’ve agreed that waiting for the results after egg collection and beyond is like being in the most brutal version of the X factor.

Katie12444 · 28/03/2023 17:27

@Stopthatnoisemummy thank you. I just really wasn’t expecting such a big drop within a day. You’re a power woman going to your job interview. I’ve literally been curled up on my sofa and refuse to see anyone other than Ben & Jerry 😂

Lots of luck for your testing tomorrow ❤️❤️❤️

LF82 · 28/03/2023 18:11

@Katie12444 I am ok, little nervous as first scan tomorrow. Keep taking it easy today

@Stopthatnoisemummy good luck with job interview & testing tomorrow!

Stopthatnoisemummy · 28/03/2023 20:33

Thank you @Katie12444 @LF82 will keep everyone updated on both!

AlisonDanuta · 29/03/2023 09:55

We've had only 1 embryo reaching blastocyst..
They are saying they're watching another 2 till tomorrowbut looking at our experience those probably won't develop.
So at this stage 1 chance only...gutted
For some reason we have issues after day 3 that embryos just stop developing
How's everyone else doing

anu21 · 29/03/2023 10:49

@AlisonDanuta : sorry to hear this - pegging all your hopes on just 1 chance in a given cycle is tough.Isn't there some way they can transfer day 3 embryos? I've heard day 3 embryos may have a better chance surviving and growing in the uterus than in a lab.

Sd183 · 29/03/2023 11:29

@ESWill are you egg collection today? just had a scan now- 50/50 on whether they want me to trigger tonight or rescan on Friday. Seems I have lazy follicles which are in no rush to get bigger! Waiting on the consultant to make a decision this afternoon so we’ll see how it goes!

Good luck to everyone testing today xx

AlisonDanuta · 29/03/2023 11:40

@anu21 apparently there is no evidence day 3 is better as they always say if they don't make day 5 then possibly same outcome if it was transferred. They usually give you the option to decide. We did that on our 2nd ivf and it was BFN

They can't transfer 3 day embryo atm as I'm on day 5 so it's too late but will have that 1 transferred

Jupiteer · 29/03/2023 12:42

@Sd183 I can relate, my EC date was originally Monday but has been moved several times as follicles have been a bit slow. Fingers crossed you get a positive call this afternoon.
I will finally be taking the trigger tonight and having EC on friday. I can't wait to get these eggs out of me. I have 12 follicles of a decent size and 20+ smaller ones which probably won't yield an egg but I feel uncomfortable and swollen. I've taken today and Thur off work as walking is getting sore.
I was wondering how long others are taking off work after EC? Unsure whether to go back straight away or have time off to field the embryology calls about fertilization / embryos as I feel they will be stressful to take at work?
@ESWill good luck if your EC is today.

LF82 · 29/03/2023 12:44

@Jupiteer good luck with your egg collection! In terms of taking time off work - I just had the day of egg collection off last time & then was back working (although from home) I found it easier to busy whilst waiting for those phone calls!

Irisjj · 29/03/2023 15:45

@Jupiteer I took 2 days off - called in sick. I definitely couldn’t work after egg retrieval and the next day was still uncomfortable sitting so laying on the couch not moving a lot definitely helped.

ESWill · 29/03/2023 18:13

@Jupiteer @Sd183 Hi both. Have 8 maturing follicles. Had one more dose of Meriofert early tonight, and trigger injection (gonasi) later tonight ready for EC on Friday. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 It's so comforting reading through everyone's updates knowing none of us are actually alone. Best of wishes to everyone.
@Jupiteer - does that mean your EC is also Friday?
@Sd183 - when will you find out?
Crossing fingers for you x

ESWill · 29/03/2023 18:15

An update on my symptoms- had yesterday off work - waking up with horrible nausea- really gone off food. How are you feeling @Sd183 @Jupiteer ?
